a.s. mentions to us in those verses
that we covered in the previous episode he
looked at the universe what he could see
of it from around him and he looked
at the stars and he looked at the
moon and he looked at the sun and
each one of them he said to them
theoretically a claim could be made that it
has divinity or that it is the lord
and the creator of god worthy of being
worshipped, but each one of them sets, each
one of them becomes invisible, each one of
them is on a set course that it
doesn't have the power or the ability to
be able to stop or to change so
the sun the moon, the stars there is
a time when you can't see them, they're
not visible they set to the visible eye,
to the people that are looking towards the
sky and when the sun sets or the
moon sets or the stars disappear they're not
able, they don't have the ability to change
that outcome for themselves each and every single
day they're on a course and that course
is a fixed course that Allah set them
upon and so Ibrahim each time that one
of those things happen to the sun, the
moon, the stars they set in their own
way Ibrahim said that this can't be the
truly powerful creator that is worthy of being
worshipped alone when it is limited in its
own power in its own ability, in its
own determination of its course and so then
he came to the conclusion with his people
that therefore there must be a God that
is all-powerful all-able, jalla fi'ula
worthy of being worshipped alone subhanahu wa ta
'ala and that is Allah azza wa jal
his people as Allah azza wa jal told
us they disputed this and they debated with
him and Allah azza wa jal will mention
these disputes and debates in more detail elsewhere
in the Quran Ibrahim a.s. said to
them why should I fear your gods when
they're not gods, they're not false, they're not
true gods besides Allah azza wa jal and
you don't fear my God that is alone
the one true God that is all-powerful
and all-able almighty subhanahu wa ta'ala
Ibrahim a.s. as we know left his
people and Allah azza wa jal bestowed upon
him many blessings and from those blessings is
the ones that Allah azza wa jal will
now mention to us at the beginning of
in verse number 84 with which we begin
our episode today and that is the statement
of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala a'udhu
Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala and this is a
beautiful point that we take from this story
of Ibrahim a.s Allah azza wa jal
once he had sacrificed for Allah submitted to
Allah being patient with the trials and ordeals
that Allah azza wa jal had placed in
his path with his people and then he
is now exiled all of these are extremely
difficult challenges and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
extremely difficult trials but once he passed each
one Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala then gave
to him the greatest of blessings that Allah
azza wa jal can bestow upon any person
and that is a child not only that
but Allah azza wa jal honored the children
of Ibrahim a.s both his sons were
prophets and his grandson was a prophet and
his great grandson was a prophet in fact
we know that every single prophet that came
after him would be from the progeny of
Ibrahim a.s and so Allah azza wa
jal honors people when they sacrifice for his
sake, when they give up something for his
sake, Allah azza wa jal honors those people
and blesses them those people who submit to
his cause and are willingly giving to him
subhanahu wa ta'ala Allah azza wa jal
says that we gave to him Ishaq and
we gave to him Yaqub and each one
of these we guided, we guided them to
the straight path we guided them with their
knowledge, through their actions because they are prophets
of Allah a.s and Allah azza wa
jal begins with Ishaq and Yaqub here as
opposed to Ismail even though Ismail is older
and he is mentioned later on in this
passage but he mentions Ishaq first because Allah
azza wa jal is speaking about the blessing
of Allah upon Ibrahim of his progeny and
prophethood through them and no doubt the majority
of the prophets that Allah azza wa jal
sent after Ibrahim were from the children and
the descendants of Ishaq a.s all of
them we guided and Nuh we guided before
them, meaning before Ishaq and Yaqub before Ibrahim
a.s Nuh came before all of them
he was the first messenger of Allah to
the people of earth as the prophet told
us so Nuh a.s came before them
and he was also guided he was also
upon the path of the prophets and the
messengers and this shows to you the mention
of all of these names of prophets in
this passage how Allah azza wa jal mentions
them all together shows that they were upon
the same message that they came with the
same message upon the same foundation and religion
calling to the same call to worship Allah
azza wa jal alone and from his progeny
from his descendants and the scholars of Tafsir
differ here as to who is being referred
to here in the pronoun of his descendants
whose descendants are we referring to here are
we speaking about Nuh a.s because he
is the one that Allah azza wa jal
just mentioned and Nuh we guided before him
and from his descendants or are we speaking
about the descendants of Ibrahim a.s that
Allah azza wa jal begins this verse with
and both of these are positions amongst the
scholars of Tafsir and that is because Allah
azza wa jal will mention in this verse
and the next verse and the verse after
they will mention subhanahu wa ta'ala a
number of prophets from those prophets is Lot
a.s Lot a.s is the nephew
of Nuh a.s and because he is
the nephew of Nuh a.s so therefore
not from his progeny not from his direct
descendants he is his nephew some of the
scholars say that Allah azza wa jal when
he is speaking here about the descendants and
from his descendants we gave to him is
referring to Nuh because Nuh from his descendants
would be Ibrahim would be Lot and would
be one of these other prophets which Allah
azza wa jal mentions within these next few
verses that is one position amongst the scholars
of Tafsir another is from amongst the scholars
of Tafsir said it is Ibrahim a.s
that is being referred to and even though
Lot is not from his progeny but is
his nephew Lot a.s accepted the message
of his uncle Ibrahim and became a believer
as a result and so it is as
if he is a child to him in
that sense because the prophets of Allah are
fathers to their nations as the prophet told
us that he is the father of this
Ummah meaning the station that he is given
he is like a father in the way
that he looks after them guides them, helps
them, advises them that is the role of
the prophets of Allah and in that sense
Lot a.s would be like a child
to Ibrahim a.s either way whichever one
there is not a big difference in terms
of the meaning and no doubt both of
these are fathers, some of the scholars of
history said that there were three fathers for
mankind the first of them was Adam a
.s and the second of them was Noah
a.s that is why you will find
in some books that he is often referred
to as Al-Abu Thani, the second father
of humankind and others mention Ibrahim a.s
as the third because he is the father
of the Arabs because his son Ismail becomes
the leader of the Arabs and so on
and that is also well known within the
various books of history and seerah and so
on so Allah a.s either way Allah
a.s is speaking about these virtues and
blessings upon the prophets whether that would be
from the descendants of Ibrahim or Noah a
.s and amongst his descendants were Dawood the
prophet Dawood a.s that Allah a.s
honoured and favoured and gave to him a
kingdom and his story is mentioned a number
of times in the Quran we have already
mentioned it once in Surah Al-Baqarah in
the story of him and Goliath, Jalut and
so from his descendants were Dawood and Sulaiman
who is the son of Dawood and Allah
a.s gave to him a great kingdom
and dominion and the story of Sulaiman a
.s will also be mentioned a number of
times in the Quran were Ayyub the prophet
of Allah Ayyub known as Job in the
Bible, Ayyub a.s is the prophet that
Allah a.s honoured and favoured, he is
the one that went through the difficulty of
hardship of illness and disease and was patient
with the decree of Allah a.s were
Yusuf, the prophet Yusuf known as Joseph in
the Bible also from the descendants of Ishaq
and Yaqub, in fact he is the son
of Yaqub a.s, the grandson of Ishaq
and Allah a.s dedicates a whole Surah
to him and his story in his book
subhanahu wa ta'ala, the two brothers and
the two sons of Imran, the two brothers
prophets Musa and Harun a.s Allah a
.s says that these are the prophets that
came from these descendants and Allah a.s
chooses these names and we have for many
of them their stories that Allah a.s
honoured them and Allah favoured them and Allah
a.s bestowed upon them their blessings and
from the blessings that he bestowed upon these
prophets is that they came from a line
of prophets, that their ancestors were prophets, that
their forefathers were prophets of Allah a.s
and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says and
this is how we reward those who do
good meaning that from the ways that Allah
rewards those who do good who is the
good doer here in this passage and the
verses that we took in the last episode
Ibrahim a.s he is the one who
did good, worshipped Allah had Iman, did good
deeds from the ways that we reward those
who do good is that we make their
progeny good as well, that we give them
blessing and guidance, that Allah a.s protects
them and preserves them and gives to them
Iman and gives to them the ability to
do righteous deeds, that is from the greatest
blessings of Allah a.s, so sometimes when
the parent is working hard in building up
their Iman and worshipping Allah and doing good
deeds that blessing then transfers itself to the
children, the grandchildren and descendants that will come
that doesn't mean that every one of them
will believe doesn't mean that all of your
children necessarily will be upon Iman, will have
strong Iman or that they won't sin or
that they will be practicing people and always
do good, that's not always the case, but
Allah a.s keeps within your family some
of that goodness, just as Ibrahim a.s
are all of Ibrahim's descendants good?
No, because they were from amongst them the
idolaters amongst them the people of Quraysh or
the enemies of Islam, all of these are
descendants of Ibrahim a.s but Allah a
.s preserves within his descendants goodness as well,
so likewise for the believers, Allah a.s
doesn't mean that all of your children, all
of your grandchildren, every one of your descendants
will always be upon Iman or good deeds
or righteousness, but Allah a.s keeps that
within your family, Allah preserves within your family
and sometimes it can skip a generation or
two but Allah a.s always blesses those
people who do good as he mentions in
a number of verses in the Quran in
verse number 85 Allah a.s mentions a
number of other prophets also from the descendants
of these amazing messengers of Allah and he
وَإِلْيَاسِ وَزَكَرِيَّ وَيَحْيَى وَعِيسَى وَإِلْيَاسِ each one of
them was from the righteous Zakariya a.s
is the prophet of Allah and Yahya his
son two prophets of Allah that we know
their stories are mentioned and we mentioned them
already in some detail in Surah Al-Imran
Zakariya is the one who is the uncle
of Maryam, takes her into his custody after
she loses her parents, she grows up in
his household, Zakariya a.s has a son,
Yahya who then becomes the cousin of one
of the prophets that is mentioned in this
verse and that is Isa the son of
Maryam and so they are cousins all from
one family these prophets these three prophets that
Allah a.s mentions each one of them
has their own story each one of them
is known within the book of Allah a
.s and Ilyas the prophet Ilyas that Allah
a.s also mentions in a number of
places in the Quran each one of them
was from the righteous, each one of them
was from those who did good then Allah
a.s mentions in verse 86 a number
of other prophets and he says وإسماعيل و
العالمين and Isma'il and Yasa' and Younus
and Lot we favoured each one of them
over the people Allah a.s mentions here
Isma'il and Isma'il is the son
of Ibrahim a.s and from him would
come the Arabs and from them his descendants
would be our prophet a.s and so
So In An Implicit Way Allah Azzawajal Is
Saying To Ibrahim That We Favoured You And
From That Favour That We Gave Upon You
Is Giving You Ismail And The Descendants Of
Ismail Not Least Of Whom Would Be And
The Greatest Of Whom Would Be Our Prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam And Likewise Yunus Al-Yasa'
Sorry Al-Yasa' And Yunus Al-Yasa' Is
Also A Prophet That Allah Azzawajal Mentions In
A Number Of Places In The Quran Yunus
Ibn Mattah Is The Prophet Of Allah The
One Who Was Swallowed By The Whale And
Allah Azzawajal Dedicates A Surah To Him As
Well In The Quran We Have A Surah
Named After Him And The Prophet Lot Who
As We Said Was The Nephew Of Ibrahim
Alayhi Salatu Wassalam And He Is From The
Prophets Of Allah Whose Story Is Mentioned In
Multiple Multiple Times Throughout The Book Of Allah
Azzawajal Wa Kullan Fadhalna A'la Al-Aalameen
Each One Of Them We Favoured Over Others
We Favoured Them Because We Gave To Them
The Highest Of Stations What Is The Highest
Of Stations That A Human Can Attain In
This World It Is The Station Of Prophethood
And So These Prophets That Allah Mentions In
These Three Verses From The Progeny Of Ibrahim
And Nuh Alayhi Salatu Wassalam These Are From
The Greatest Of Human Beings That Allah Azzawajal
Created Because They Attained That Status And That
Level Of Being Prophets Of Allah Azzawajal Allah
Subhanahu Wa'Ta'Ala Then Says In Verse 87
And Also Some Of
Their Forefathers Their Offspring And Their Brothers We
Chose Them And Guided Them Onto A Straight
Path Allah Subhanahu Wa'Ta'Ala Says That These
Prophets Of Allah From Amongst Them Some Of
Them Their Fathers Were Upon Iman And Guidance
And From Amongst Them Were Those Who Their
Progeny Their Offspring Will Be Upon Iman And
Guidance And From Amongst Them Are Some Of
Those Whose Siblings Whose Brothers Would Be From
Amongst Those Who Are Upon Guidance So As
We'Ve Seen Here There Are Prophets There
Are Fathers And Sons And There Are Prophets
That We Have Seen There Are Brothers As
Well Like Musa And Harun Alayhi Salatu Wassalam
And So Allah Azawajal Favors Them And From
Amongst Those Prophets Are Those Whose Whom Allah
Azawajal Preferred And Guided In Many Different Ways
And From Their Family Members As Well The
Prophets Of Allah Who Had Children That Were
Upon Iman Or They Weren'T Prophets Of Allah
Sorry Necessarily But They Were Upon Iman Prophets
Of Allah Who Had Wives And Spouses Their
Upon Iman Not No Prophets Of Allah But
Their Upon Iman And So Allah Azawajal Guides
And Allah Azawajal Favors These Prophets In That
Way But Allah Subhanahu Wa'Ta'Ala Says
And From Their Forefathers From Their Progeny
From Their Siblings And Their Brothers Are Those
That We Guided And The Word From Therefore
Means That There Were Then Others That Weren'T
Guided As We Know From The Stories Of
One Of These Prophets Ibrahim Alayhi Salatu Wassalam
Himself His Father Is Not Upon Guidance Lut
Alayhi Salam As Allah Mentions In The Quran
His Wife Is Not Upon Guidance And As
We Know Our Prophet Salallahu Alayhi Salam His
Uncle His Uncles Or Some Of Them Refused
To Accept Guidance As Well And So From
Amongst The Relatives Those That Don'T Accept Islam
And From Amongst Parents And Children And Spouses
Those Who Don'T Accept Islam But Allah Azawajal
Gave Islam And Guidance To Others From Amongst
Them As Well.
In Verse 88 Allah Azawajal Says
Such Is
Allah's Guidance With Which He Guides Whichever Of
His Servants He Wills If They Had Associated
Other Gods With Him All Their Deeds Would
Have Come To Nothing This Is The Guidance
Of Allah Azawajal He Gives It To Whomsoever
He Wills Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala Is
The One Who Chooses Guidance Guidance Is In
The Hands Of Allah Azawajal Alone, He Is
Al-Hadi The Ultimate Guide The Prophets They
Convey, They Advise, They Give The Message Of
Allah To People And Then The Followers Of
The Prophets From The Scholars And The Righteous
Me, You, Everyone Our Job Is Also To
Convey And To Advise But Who Gives Ultimate
Guidance In Whose Hands Is Guidance Ultimately Is
In The Hands Of Allah Azawajal Alone
That Is The Guidance Of Allah
With Which
He Guides Whomsoever He Wills Of His Servants
Allah Azawajal Is The One Who Decides The
Prophets Do Not Have The Right To Demand
Upon Allah That They Give Guidance To One
Of Their Family Members And This Is What
We Mentioned Inshallah Ta'ala In More Detail
In Surah Hud In The Story Of Nuh
A.S. When Nuh's Son Is Going To
Be Drowned And He Calls Upon Allah And
He Says Save Him By Allah He Is
From My Family And Allah Azawajal Says He
Is Not Really From Your Family Because His
Actions Are Not Upon The Actions Or From
The Actions Of The People Of Iman And
So Allah Azawajal Is The One Who Decides
Even The Prophets Of Allah Cannot Demand Guidance
For One Of Their Number Or One Of
Their Family Members وَلَوْ أَشْرَقُ And If All
Of These Prophets Were To Make Shirk All
Of Them Ibrahim, Nuh, Musa, Isa Even Our
Own Prophets Salallahu Alaihe Wasalam If They Were
To Commit Shirk And This Is A Theoretical
If Because It'S Not Possible Allah Has Safeguarded
Them From That Shirk And They Would Never
Committed But To Show You The Gravity Of
That Sin And How Why Those People They
Don'T Don'T Find Guidance Even If They'Re
Related To Those Prophets Of Allah They Wouldn'T
Be Saved Because Allah Azawajal Is Saying Forget
Your Family Members Your Close Ones Your Dear
Ones Your Loved Ones Even If You Committed
Shirk Yourselves Or Prophets Of Allah Or Messengers
All
Their Deeds Would Come To Nothing You Too
Would Have Your Deeds Rendered Null And Void
Allah Azawajal Says In Verse 89
Those Are The Ones To Whom We Gave
The Scripture, Wisdom And Prophethood Even If These
People Now Disbelieve In Them, We Have Entrusted
Them To Others Who Do Not Disbelieve Allah
Azawajal Speaks About The Honor Of These Prophets
And He Says That These Are The Prophets
That We Favored We Gave To Them The
Scriptures, Revelation, We Gave To Them Wisdom That
They Had As A Result Of The Knowledge
That Allah Gave To Them And We Gave
To Them Prophethood And These Are The Greatest
Blessings That Allah Azawajal Bestows Upon Any Individual
And Even If These
People Disbelieve In Them Because There Are People
Who Rejected Them And As The Prophet Told
Us Salallahu Alaihi Wasalam There Will Be Prophets
That Will Come On Yawm Al Qiyamah With
Only A Handful Of Followers Or One Follower
Or No Followers Those People Are Still Prophets
Of Allah They Still Received Revelation And Wisdom
They Still Received The Blessings Of Allah Azawajal
Even
If Some Have Disbelieved In Them You Will
Always Find Others That Have Not Disbelieved Whether
That'S At Their Time Or Whether It'S Our
Ummah Of The Prophet Salallahu Alaihi Wasalam Because
From Our Iman The Prophets Of Allah Is
That We Believe In All Of Them Those
That We Know In Detail We Believe In
Their Details And Those That We Don'T Know
Their Details We Believe In Them In General
And So Those Prophets Of Allah Who Are
No Followers We Believe In Them We Accept
Them As Being Prophets Of Allah Azawajal That
He Sent To Humankind Even If We Don'T
Know Of Them And Their Stories In Particular
In The Final Verse That We Will Take
In Today's Episode Verse Number 90 Allah Azawajal
Then Says
Those Were The People That Allah Guided
So Follow The Guidance That He Received Say
I Seek No Reward For It From You
It Is A Lesson For All People So
After Mentioning All Of This All Of These
Names Of These Prophets And All The Blessings
That Allah Bestowed Upon Them And The Guidance
That Allah Gave To Them Now Allah Azawajal
Commands Us The Ummah Of The Prophet Salallahu
Alaihe Wasalam And The Prophet Salallahu Alaihe Wasalam
Was Saying To Us
These Are The People That Were Truly Guided
All Of Them Were Upon Iman And Tawheed
All Of Them Were Worshipping Allah Azawajal All
Of Them Did That Which Allah Azawajal Commanded
Them To Do فَبِهُدَاهُ مُقْتَدِهِ So You Too
O Muhammad Salallahu Alaihe Wasalam Follow Their Guidance
Follow Them In Their Example And That Is
What The Prophet Did Salallahu Alaihe Wasalam From
The Stories That Allah Azawajal Revealed To Him
In The Quran Of Those Prophets And From
Their Mention That Allah Azawajal Gave To Him
From Other Than The Quran As Well The
Prophet Salallahu Alaihe Wasalam Followed Their Footsteps In
Terms Of Their Iman In Terms Of Their
Perseverance In Terms Of Their Patience In Terms
Of Their Traits And Characteristics And Attributes That
They Had In Terms Of Their Trust In
Allah Azawajal And The Way That They Conveyed
Their Message To Their People
And Here Like All Of The Prophets
Said I Seek No Reward For It From
You I Don'T Want Your Money I Don'T
Seek From You Any Payment I Don'T Seek
From You Any Reward
It Is Simply A Reminder For All
People I Have Come To You To Remind
You To Advise You To Admonish You To
Give You The Message That Allah Azawajal Entrusted
Me With And To Show To You The
Path Of Tawheed That Will Lead You To
Allah Subhanaw Taala If You Follow That Path
You Will Come To Allah Azawajal And Allah
Subhanaw Taala Will Reward You And He Will
Give You A Great Honor And A Great
Reward On Yawmul Qiyamah And If You Turn
Away From It And You Reject It And
You Deny It Then Allah Azawajal Will Punish
You In This Life And In The Next
As Well And That Is What The Prophets
Were Upon And That Is What Our Prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Was Also Upon And So
Allah Azawajal In This Passage Gives To Him
The Names Of These Prophets And Tells Him
That He Is Not The First He Is
Not Something Which Is Peculiar Or Something Which
Is Strange But Rather He Is Following In
The Line A Long Line Of All Of
These Prophets And Messengers Of Allah Going All
The Way Back To The First Of Those
Messengers And That Is Nuh A.S And
With That We Come To The End Of
Today'S Episode Barakallahu Fikum Wa Salaamu Ala Nabiyyina
Muhammadin Wa Ala Alihi Wa Sahbihi Ajma'een
Wa Salaamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh
