AI: Summary ©
The speakers discuss the use of death and death practices in Islam, the struggles of the Prophet sallha's predictions of people being punished in the grave, and the importance of protecting oneself from punishment and the consequences of death. They emphasize the need to read the Prophet sallali Alayhi wa sallam's statement and teach children about the afterlife and future. The speakers also acknowledge the impact of the pandemic on the economy and credit markets, but emphasize the importance of maintaining good credit scores and avoiding physical contact. The virus crisis may have had a beneficial impact on the lending market, but caution is needed for people during the pandemic.

my dear brothers and sisters,
there are very few things in this dunya very few things in this life, that every single person, Muslim or non Muslim, old or young, rich or poor, irrespective of their languages irrespective of their nationalities, irrespective of their ethnic backgrounds, there are very few things that every single person agrees upon very few things in this life that everyone unanimously agrees upon.
Yet one of those things which a lot of zoa gel has made asunder one of his practices which must come to pass, and Allah subhanho wa Taala, as we know from the Quran, has a number of sunon in this universe, a number of practices, a number of things that happen whether people like them or not, whether people choose to accept them or not, as Allah subhanho wa Taala says so not Allah, He filled avina phenomena voluntarily sooner Tila Tequila. This is a practice that Allah azza wa jal has ordained in those nations that came before you. And you will never find in the Sooners in these practices of Allah, any change, there will never be any change in his practices. And from those
practices is something which everyone agrees upon. And that is the reality of death.
You won't find a single person who will disagree with you, whether they believe in the hereafter or not, whether they may believe in some form of preservation or not of the body, whether they may think that there is some way to gain life after this life. Whether they agree with these other issues is immaterial, they will all agree on the fact of death, that death is a reality.
And this shows us that this is something which doesn't relate just to a Muslim. It's not something which is just particular to Islam. It's something which every sensible, rational human being will upset will accept your Allah subhanho wa Taala for us in our religion, and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam for us in our religion has taught us how to view death, how to treat death, because like every other thing which Allah azzawajal has placed in this life, there is a tool by which the believer can come closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala.
Everything in this life is a tool, your wife, your children, your house, your job, every single thing is a tool. And these tools have been placed at your disposal. Whether you use them to come closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala or they drive you further away from Allah azza wa jal data is the choice that we make. That is our choice. But a large oil has placed these tools at our disposal. And from those tools is the tool of death. Death is also a tool and many people view death as something which is beyond their control and there is no one controls death as a last resort gelatins for either judging him last year on a Serato when I stopped the moon, when the appointed time will come,
then no one will be able to advance it, no one will be able to delay it. So it's out of our control in that sense. But from another point of view, from the way the Muslim should approach these things, is that it is also a tool which can bring a person closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala. And this is something which we will touch upon later on. Instead of viewing death, instead of viewing the hereafter instead of viewing the grave, the topic of today's lecture, instead of viewing these things as something which is beyond
Control something which is abstract which we can not even imagine something which isn't physical for us to touch or see or hear, instead of treating them like this, Islam has told us to use them as tools to come closer to Allah subhana wa Tada. And this is why you will find and I will go through a number of narrations narrated on the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. And a number of narrations from the companions are the Allahu anhu and aerations from our great scholars of the past, are they him Rahmatullah that they would view the death, they would view the grave, they would view these things in a way which would bring them closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala.
And this is something which I think many of us as Muslims today failed to do. We don't view death as a tool which will bring us closer to Allah. Rather, we either immerse ourselves in this society, as we're indoctrinated to do, so that we view death as something which will happen, but it's better to forget about it rather than to focus on it. And so we don't waste our time. We don't spend our time on death and these issues, these issues are something which you leave, hopefully, they won't come until 8090 years later, hopefully, right? It's something which you just leave. And rather you immerse yourself in the society and in the pleasures of this dunya.
Yet Allah subhanho wa Taala in the Quran and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam never told us to view, death and the grave and the hereafter like this. Rather, you won't find a single Hadith except that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is exhorting us this is telling us is reminding us that death and the hereafter are closer to us than we can possibly imagine.
He's doing the opposite. He's saying beware of death, death is coming to you. The hour is near. For Khadija shirato has Allah says in the Quran, it signs up already come to you. The signs of human karma have already begun.
And so in Islam, these concepts are brought closer to us. And we're told to focus on them not to forget them or to neglect them, or to feign ignorance of them, but to bring them closer so that in turn, they will bring us closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala. And this is why you have a beautiful Hadith of the Prophet of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, in which he said on the authority of a warrior of the long run, Moto E to Mandarin Illa well, Pablo,
I have never seen a single thing, not a single thing, except that the grave is more severe than it.
I haven't seen a single thing in this life, except that the grave is something more severe than it. And this is the Prophet of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam speaking, in another Hadith, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, Lola and to the funeral letter out to LA and use me Akuma who worried not that I am afraid that you would stop burying one another, I would have made the heart to Allah, that he enabled you to hear the punishment of the people of the grave,
out of fear that the people won't bury one another.
You won't bury your loved one your father, your mother, your wife, your children, because you know about what is going to take place, you would stop burying one another. If Allah subhanho wa Taala
allowed you to hear this allowed you to hear the punishment of the grave.
In another Hadith or another narration, it was mentioned clearly from one of the tourbillion that he would come to us with money being a fan rhodiola and when he was the leaf of the Muslims, or the loved one, the third of the believers of Islam, and as man, for those of you and I'm sure everyone knows this, but for those of you who don't know, was an extremely wealthy man, he was an extremely wealthy man. He was from the most wealthiest of the people of his time, from the Moorish from the Muslims. He was one of the wealthiest individuals, Allah azzawajal had given him this blessing.
Yet he would often when he would hear the verses of the Quran being recited. He would only often cry when he would hear about death and the grave. And so one of his students asked him and he said, Oh, I'm evil, meaning only the of the believers. We often hear people crying when they hear about paradise, and they cry when they hear about the hellfire. Yet I've never seen you cry for anything other than the green. Why is this? And so he replied, and he said, because I heard the Prophet of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam See? in alpha Bravo Lumina 00.
From a Naja Minh who is a woman, woman lesbian German, who from shadowman. Indeed, the grave is
is the first of the stages of the hereafter. The grave is the first stage of the hereafter. So whosoever passes that stage, then that which comes after it will be easier. And whosoever fails that stage than that which comes after it will be more severe. And this tab at the student of rough man, he would say, that when these verses of the punishment of the grave were mentioned to him, and were recited in front of him, he would cry to the extent that all of his beard would become wet.
And Subhanallah you can imagine how much you would have to cry in order for the whole of your beard to actually be dripping with tears. But he would cry to the extent radi Allahu wa. And there are many many other narrations as well from our scholars rahima, whom Allah which also showed us and all of them go and point towards that same one thing that I mentioned to you before, that the scholars would view death and the grave as a means and a tool to bring them closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala and this is why the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, couldn't turn I hate to come and zero to Allah for surah four in the heart of the Kuru Campbell mount, I used to prevent you from visiting
the graves. But now I allow it for you. So go and visit them, for they will remind you of death. And the reminder of death is there so that it brings us closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala. One of the most beautiful statements that I found regarding this is a beautiful statement of our Akasha Rahim Allah.
Allah Toshi. He was speaking about the people's objectives, right? The People's goals. Everyone has a goal. And as Muslims, we know that our goal is the Afghan agenda. But even in this life, we have guns. Someone who want that job, we will show earning six figures. Someone else wants a mug to drive, right? That's the goal. Someone else wants that house that has six bedrooms, someone else wants to go and live in another country. These are goals that we have in this life as well. Another Akasha Rahim Allah he would say, but what many people fail to realize is that their real goal, their real objective is to remember that the grave will become their house, the grave will become their
house, and the earth that they fear or the earth that they belittle that they think nothing of it will become their mattress, and the dirt and the dust will become their blanket. And they will only be the worms and the insects that will be there to console them and comfort them. This is it. And that's why you find that the scholars even though like people have dreams and goals, when it came to the scholars of Islam, Rahim Rahim Allah, they would always keep them in check with this, that Okay, we have goals. But at the same time, we know that our ultimate destination is the grave. And that's something which we need to prepare for today. And that's why there is an aeration that the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam once came to one of his companions, and the companion was mending his house, he was fixing his house, his house that he lived in. And so the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to him, are eternal Amara gentlemen Haha, indeed, I see that your affair is quicker than this. Meaning that you don't need to worry about mending your house repairing your roof, death will come to you before you can even take benefit of these things. And that's why when you look at the mosque of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he never took years and decades establishing a beautiful mustard, mustard which was built out of marble, and chandeliers that came from certain
parts of the world, and so on and so forth. Rather his mosque was simple. And it was there and it was sufficient for the purpose that a Masjid is needed for. And this is the way that the scholars Rahim, Allah would be.
It was reported on a hesson inaugural, the alarm rang the grandson of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that he wants went and followed a janazah. The funeral prayer. And this is something which is also highly recommended in Islam, that we go and participate in the funeral prayers, and follow the funerals to their graves, so that we can actually see them being buried. Because often you come and you pray in the masjid. And it's not, it's not very dissimilar to every other prayer that you pray, you come, you pray, and you go, and it doesn't really have an effect on you.
But the sooner is to also go if you're able to to the grave, so that you can see the body being lowered down. You can see the dust and the earth being thrown back on the body. Or has it been earlier on the last one he wants went to a grave to someone's funeral and he saw that body being lowered into the grave. And he has a beautiful statement and he says, indeed, I see that this affair,
meaning this life. If this is the final stage of this life, then the first part of this life is something which is emotional.
Meaning if this is the result that every person will have, this is the final destination of everyone in this life, then that which proceeds it is immaterial. It's not really very valuable if everyone is going to go back to the stage. And then he said, and indeed I see the affair that this is the beginning of meaning this is the beginning of the next life. Indeed, it is important that we fear its outcome.
So he's saying rahima rhodiola. One, that the death or death is, if you like that middle stage, that barrier, everything which comes before death is immaterial, it will vanish and won't have any
substance in the sight of Allah except for the good that you did. And everything which comes after death, that is what we should be fearing. And that is what we should be preparing for. armory bin Abdul Aziz Rahim. Allah Rahim, Allah Allahu taala. He has a number of statements regarding death. And regarding the grave. anomaly. Abdullah says Rahim Allah, and I'm sure I've mentioned this a number of times. Omar Abdullah says Rahim Allah He was a belief of the Muslims. And he was such a righteous man that the scholars would say that he was the fifth rightly guided Khalifa, as was the opinion of Mr. Muhammad Rahim Allah and others.
Rahim Allah when he first became the halifa, one of the first things that he did was establish a company and a group of scholars that would come and visit him every single day, every single evening, they would come and visit him. And he placed upon them a number of conditions. And from those conditions was that they would only talk about the Hereafter, they will not delve into the issues of this dunya. They won't talk about anything about the dunya. This was a condition that he placed upon them, that they only speak about death and about the hereafter.
And so he has a number of statements, Rahim Allah regarding this from them is that he once said to those people that were gathered around him,
that if you go to a grave, just three days after that body was buried, and you were able to see what had become of the body. Even though the inhabitant of the grave may have been your closest friend, or your closest relative, or your own spouse or your own child, you will see that person just after three days in the grave as a complete stranger. And not only will you view them as a stranger, you will run away from them.
Due to the way their appearance has changed, due to the ugly odor that emanates from their body, due to the worms and the insects that have now treated them as a meal that feasting on them. Not all not would you wouldn't say that this is my loved one. Let me bring him out. Let him take let me take him home with me. You would run away from him. And this is the reality of death. He also said Rahim Allah tala that if you were to go to the graves, and you pass by these graves, then take a timeout and call upon them. Ask them a number of questions. And they don't mean that you ask them expecting an answer because we know that the dead can't hear and they can't respond. But again, the purpose of
this is for our own songs. To bring us closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala he would say go and speak to them. Go and look at them. Go and see how close the rowboat is, how close every grave is to the next wave, how little space there is for each individual. And as those that you knew, who are rich from amongst them, how has your wealth benefited you. And when you go to them, ask them about the tongues with which they used to speak about the eyes with which they used to enjoy the pleasures of this dunya about the ears that they would hear the harem in this dunya ask them about the comforts and the blessings that Allah subhanahu wa taala bestowed upon them. Ask them about their soft skin.
Ask them about their beautiful handsome faces. Ask them about their soft, beautiful clones, ask them about the comforts that they have. You will find that now in the grave. their backs have been broken and their bodies have disintegrated. And you can see the bones coming out from their skin and you will find the insects feasting upon them. So ask them, what has benefited you from your slaves from those people that would help you from those who came to you assistance in this dunya what has benefited you from the warmth that you gathered? What has benefited you from the treasures that you hold in? And I must ask them now that they are completely alone. They have no one with them. There
is no one there to aid them or help them. No one there for them to seek counsel from to seek advice from to ask for help in answering questions. Ask them is there a difference to you between the date and the night? Can you tell the difference when it is day and when or is night rather they are in complete darkness.
Ask them concerning those actions that have now been cooked off those actions that they could have performed in this dunya that have now been cut off. Ask them about the love that they once had, for their families, for their friends, for those that they loved. And then ask them, the person the inhabitant of the grave. Ask them, what deceived you about this dunya? What deceived you about the life of this world? And you will find that the United they have palaces in their graves? No, do they have rivers in their graves? No, do they have any of the blessings and comforts of this dunya in their graves? Where are those beautiful soft clothes that they used to wear? Where is the perfume
that they used to send themselves with? Where is the hole that they used to use to send their houses? Ask them about all of this, ask them about the clothes that they would wear in the summer, and then in the winter? And then ask them after you have asked them all about all of this. Ask them which side of your face did the insects first come and feast? On? Which cheek? Was it that start that they started on? Which side of the face was it that they began with? And then ask them and then he said concerning himself, that I would ask them that when the angel of death came? What did it bring for you? When the angel of death came to receive your soul? What message did it bring from
Allah subhanho wa Taala? What did it bring for you? What news did it bring from you from your Lord?
And then he got up and he walked out of that modulus. And he said according to some narrations that he only lived for a single week after that. And then he passed away. Rahim Allah tala Yamato, he was here.
And you can just tell from the beautiful narration, even though it's slightly long, how much time the scholars of Islam would spend thinking about these things.
That's not something which you can put together on the spur of a moment. If you've never thought about this incident before, the amount of detail that he went into, concerning a person's clothes and their blessings and so on and so forth. It shows that they will think about this often over and over again. And then our generations concerning amadablam devisees Rahim Allah there, his wife would say that he would often not sleep at night, worrying about death, and worrying about accounting that Allah subhanho wa Taala would give him on your model piano. And there are other innovations from other scholars that they would go to their houses, and they would turn out the lights, the lamps
that they would have, and they would immerse themselves in complete darkness, and then they would imagine themselves in the grave. This is something which the scholars would often do. spend time thinking about the grave, thinking about the blessings that Allah has prepared for the believers and the punishments that Allah has prepared for the disbelievers. Another of the scholars are Robbie Binney Haytham Rahim Allah, who was known for his for his abstinence from this world for its taqwa It is said that he went one day to his house, and he began to dig a hole in his own house, he began to dig a hole.
And then when he had made that hole, he went to lie in it. And he would use that hole as a place for a reminder of his grave. He would lie in it when he would feel that the dunya has deceived him, that he has become immersed too much in this life. And when he would lie in this grave, he would recite the verse of the Quran, Robbie reagieren li Rama lasallian faema torok Oh my lord, allow me to return to the life of this world. Maybe I will go back and do some righteous actions. And this is a verse that Allah subhanho wa Taala speaks about the disbelievers on Yeoman tiama. That they will implore Allah and beg Allah, Allah allow us to go back to the dunya perhaps we will go back and
perform righteous actions for you. And a lot of xojo will say to them color in the Haqqani motto, rather, is only a word that they utter upon their tongues. There is no sincerity behind it. Has there been sincerity they would have acted in the life that they had. And so he would recite this verse to himself, and then he would get out of the grave. And he would say, No, or a beer, that you have another chance today.
Because he was still alive. If he wasn't dead, he would recite this verse and stand up and say, know that Allah has given you that chance in this life.
And so then he would go I never said that that would keep him going for a number of days or a number of weeks and then he would return and do this again. rahima hula huhtala
another great scholars of Islam, Malik Medina, Rahim Allah. And I mentioned the story of malleability in our, in my last lecture that I did hear about the dunya that he was someone who at the beginning of his life, was immersed in sin. He was someone who disobeyed Allah subhana wa Tada. And in according to some narrations of his own story, he says that there wasn't a
Single evil except that I committed it at the beginning of his life. And then he repented to Allah. And he returned to Allah and he became a great scholar of Islam, Rahim Allah Allahu taala. He would say concerning himself, and they would often speak to themselves about this, he would say, tomorrow, he would go to the graveyards, and he would say to himself, oh Malik, tomorrow, you will end up like this man. Tomorrow, this is your destination. And you will not find that there will be any mattress for you know, will there be any blanket law? Will there be any pillow?
And you know, the Allahu Akbar, the famous Companion of the Muslims, the famous companion of Islam, and the belief of the Muslims, he would go to the graveyard, and he would say with those people who are around them, he would say that if you came to these graveyards, and you were able to ask them questions, and they could ask you questions,
imagine that you were able to go and speak to them, and say to them, what have you found in the grave? And they were to ask you what has happened in the dunya, since we left, and then he would say, as for us, we would respond. And we would say that your wives have been married, your wife has been distributed, those houses that you used to live in, someone else has moved into them. There is nothing left for you in this dunya after you left, everything went to someone else, nothing remained behind for you.
And then he would say about the Aloha and that if they could respond to us, they would say that indeed, we have not found anything better in the sight of Allah in our graves than taqwa. There is nothing better than the fear of Allah that we have used in our graves.
About da da da da, Allahu Akbar, another of the famous companions, he would say.
And he would ask himself, when is the day that I will be truly poor?
When is that day that I will be truly poor? And then he would respond to himself and he would say, indeed, it is the day that I will die. That is the day that I will be truly poor. And there are many many other narrations like this reported from the companions of the scholars Rahim Allah concerning these issues, and there are too many to list, but inshallah I hope that that serves as a sufficient reminder for us. When we come to speak about the grave we know from the Sunnah of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, that there are many things that will happen when a person's soul is taken away, and when they are entered into the agreement, so from that which the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wasallam, for example mentioned to us, is that it is from the sooner that we hasten the burial. And in addition, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, that hasten the burial of those who have died, for fear is good that they are going to, then it is good that you are hastening to, and if it is evil, that they are going to, then you are only delaying that which is inevitable for them.
And so there are many things which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam spoke about concerning this, but what I want to concentrate on is what the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned, concerning how the soldier will be taken out, and concerning the way a person will be treated in their graves. How a large region has prepared for a person in the graves, there are a number of trials and tests will come to them. And depending on how they answer those tests and trials in their graves, Allah azza wa jal has either prepared for them a reward or a punishment. And this is something which we need to know about our religion.
The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said concerning the believers,
that when the Angel of Death comes to them, that the soul will come out as softly as a drop of water comes out of a vessel. So when you have a jug, and you tilt that jug, how easily does the water come out of that jug? This is how easily the soul will come out of the body of the believer. A large soldier will make it something which is easy for them. Even though death has its plans, as the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would say, Allah in London, Moti Sakura, indeed, death has its pants, it has its hardships, but Allah subhanho wa Taala will allow the soul to come out easily. And then that soul will be shrouded and washed and he will be raised towards the heavens. And he will
not pass by a single group of angels, except that those angels will ask who is explicit sown. And then those angels that are accompanying the soul, they will respond using the best names that that individual had been given in this dunya using the best of the names that that person had. And then they will continue to go over one from from one heaven to the other to the other until they finally come towards Allah subhanho wa Taala and then the gates of the heaven will open and they Allah subhanho wa Taala will allow them to come into the blessed gathering of the believers and then he will return their souls to the grave
And there are a large division will order that the graves be expanded. And that Allah subhanho wa Taala will see for those people, a free Shula communal agenda that gives them the the bedding of gender allow them to see into gender and allow them to have the bedding and the and the the blessings of Jenna. You're on the other hand for the disbeliever the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned that when the Angel of Death comes to take that song, it will be drugged out of that person's body, just as a hook is drugged through cotton, just as a hook is drugged through cotton, in order for it to come out with the difficulty. And that force, this is how the soul of the
disbeliever will also be taken out. And when that song comes out, you will have a bad and evil odor. And so when the angels are trying to rise with it, every time they pass by a group of angels, they will say what an evil soul who is this individual. And so then those, those angels accompanying that soul will use the worst names that that person was given in this dunya until they finally come to the heavens, and they will seek permission to enter but they won't be given that permission. And so the soul will be flung down back to the earth in a harsh way will be thrown back down to the earth, and then that person's grave will be restricted for them and it will become narrow. The Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned that there is a darkness in the grave for those people who are disbelievers, that Allah subhanho wa Taala will give them a darkness that envelopes them. They will have no light. And you can imagine if you had to spend your time in complete darkness, immersed in darkness, not being able to see what is above you what is behind you. What is on your right or your left. This is the way that the disbelievers will be treated on that day. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam also mentioned the from that which Allah azza wa jal will do is he will squeeze the bodies in the grave. And this will be a squeezing that each and every single person believer or
disbeliever will face and the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that if anyone was to have been saved from the squeezing, then it would have been sad. The Biltmore house, radi Allahu Akbar, every single person is squeezed in the dream. Yet the scholars or some of the scholars mentioned, that displeasing for the belief on the squeezing for the disbeliever is two completely different things. As for the believer, then he will be squeezed to be like someone who squeezes a person that they have not seen for a long time. Like when you see someone that has come to visit you and you have not seen them in such a long time, the love that you have for that person will go and make you
hug them and comfort them and you will squeeze them and there is not a squeezing of fear, or a squeezing of hatred, or squeezing of enmity. porada squeezing of love and comfort. For us. For the Spiriva, the way they will be squeezed is that they will be squeezed to such an extent that their bones will begin to mesh with one another, and the different parts of their bodies will begin to mesh with one another.
There are other generations in which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned
that when a person is in the grave, they will be asked a number of questions that Allah subhanho wa Taala will send to them to angels by the name of one current Nikita, and they will be angels who are bluish black in color, and they will come to them. And they will approach the person in a certain manner. So they will come with a purpose in their work, they will come and they will approach the believers. And as for the believers in the believers will be surrounded from all sides by the good deed. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in one narration mentioned that the angels would come the kid will come and they will come towards the believer. And they will find that when they
approach him from his head, he will have the prayer that he used to pray and the Koran and that he used to recite, defending him from that side. And then they will come towards the right. And they will find the fasting, that he would fast that will be there to protect him. And then they will come from the left. And they will find that Zika is there to protect him. And then they will come towards his feet from his feet. And they will find that all of the other good deeds that he would perform used to be them. And so these deeds will surround him and will protect him from the stern angels that will come. And then he will be made to sit to sit up. And he will be asked the questions that
everyone knows what is your law? Who is your Lord? What is your religion? And who was the man that was sent for you? And so when he answers these, these three questions of voice will come from the heaven same setup that he has spoken the truth. And another generation the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam spoke about these three questions. And he said that this is when a lot as our journal will make the believers firm and he recited the verse you submit to
Lola Vina Armand will be slowly sir beautiful hierarchy dunia will feel that Indeed Allah azza wa jal makes firm and constant those people who believe in him will have a man and perform righteous actions in this life and in the next. And in the next life. This is when Allah subhanho wa Taala will allow that firmness which is the statement of towhead, he will allow them to come, allow it to come and benefit that person, as for the disbeliever, then when the two angels come, they will find, or the hypocrite or the disbelieve them and the two angels come, they will find that there is nothing there to protect him, there will be no good deed surrounding that person. And so he will be
made to sit up, and he will be in a state of fear and terror. And there are lots of panels of angels were asking these three questions, and he won't know the answers. As for the disbeliever, he won't know. And he will say, I don't know. And in some narrations that said about the hypocrite that he will say, I don't know I used to hear that people saying something, so I would repeat after them. And then the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that they will be struck with a sledgehammer that will cause them to scream, such a scream that everything around them will be able to hear it, except for humans engine, every single creation, other than humans, and Jen will be able to hear
their screaming and their shriek. And this is what the prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was referring to in that Hadith, which I mentioned to you before.
And so then these people, the believe or disbelieve, will be made to stay in that grave, and they will be in that grave in that life of the birds off until Allah subhanho wa Taala chooses to resurrect them on normal piano. This will be the Abode until a large Zoo which will decrease at the hour is established, and he decrees that the resurrection takes place. And there are narrations which mentioned that for the believer, he will be set to him sleep like the sleeping of a man who is newlywed that this is something which the angels will say once he has answered the questions that you are you will sleep like the sleep of a man who is newlywed. And in other generations the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that there isn't a single person in the grave, except that every single morning and every single evening they will see the Abode either in paradise or in the fire twice a day in the morning and in the evening, they will see the Abode that they are going towards in the next life. And this is something which are larger, which I mentioned concerning for around a narrow euro una la vida Shinya Yamato, Masato adequado Allah for Ana Shahada, that the fire of how is presented to Pharaoh and his people in the morning and in the evening, on the day that the hour is established, they will be returned to a more severe punishment from Allah subhanho wa Taala.
Even a Maha Maha Allahu taala. When speaking about the grave and his punishments, he has a beautiful chapter in which he mentions the generations in which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam spoke about the punishment of the grave.
And he speaks about those sins that a person commits, which will which are punishable in the grave. Because we know from the prophets or from the scholars of Islam, that Allah azzawajal may choose to punish a person in this life, or he may choose to punish a person in the grave, or he may choose to punish a person in the Hereafter, or he may choose to punish them in more than one of these places. And so even opium Rahim Allah He gathers these narrations concerning the punishments of the grave that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam specified, and he has a number of them. from them, is the is the is the one who spreads rumors. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said concerning
the one who spreads rumors to the extent that they reach the corners of the world, a little lie that begins a rumor that begins, but it reaches to such an extent that everyone knows about it. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that are normal, that in the grave, a person will come to this man in their grave with this person in their grave, and he will have a hook with him. And he will place this fork inside the mouth, on the right cheek, and then he will pull it until it goes to the back of their neck. And then he will take it out, and he will go to the left side of the face, and he will place it in the left cheek in the left mouth. And he will pull it until it goes to the
back of the neck and then he will come back to the right and you will find that this side is healed. The right side is healed there is back to normal. So then he will go and do it again to the right. And then he will go to the left and he will find that that is healed. And then he will continue to do this until Yamanaka Yama. In another Hadith the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said concerning the one who sleeps on the Quran, and what is meant by steeping on the Quran, according to some scholars, is that those are the people who have the knowledge of the Quran.
They know what a lot of zoology is saying in the Quran, from the halal and haram, but they refuse to act upon it. They refuse to implement the teachings of the Quran. Others from the scholars say that it is those people who have knowledge of the Quran. If they don't stand in night in prayer, they don't stand in the night for prayer. They don't pray a lot to the 100 using this forum, and so on in the grave, those people will be made to lie down those people who neglect the Koran. And a man will come with a big boulder and he will come to their heads and he will raise the boulder above them and he will smash their heads, smash the rock on the boulder onto their heads in their faces so that it
will smash and then when he hits when the boulder hits the face, it will begin to roll away. And so the man will go after the boulder and he will pick it up and he will come back and you will find that his face has been repaired. It has been healed it is back to normal. So again he will raise it and he will throw it on the head and again it will roll and he will go and chase it and bring it back and by that time the head will be healed. And then he will continue to do this until you move to Yama
and another Hadith the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned the one who commit Zina those people who for Nicki to commit adultery in this life that Allah azzawajal will in their graves they will be punished in an oven of fire and they will be placed in this oven. And at the bottom of this oven there will be a fire that will be lit and the firewall becomes so intensive will rage and it will become so intense that due to its heat, the the people in that in that oven will begin to rise with the heat and they will rise and rise and rise until they think that they can escape that the heat will be so much that it will take them outside of the oven and over the edges. And just as they
think that they are about to escape, the fire will extinguish and they will fall back down to the pits and then again the fire will begin to reach and again this will be repeated to them until Yamuna Yama. Likewise those people who come who deal in interest in Riba who take interest or deal in interest, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, that such a person will be in a river of blood, and they will be in the middle of the river. And on the bank of the river, they will be another man and he will have in his hand pebbles, small stones. So the man in the river, the one who used to deal in rubber, he will try to go towards the edges of the bank, towards the edges of the
river to get out using the bank of the river. And just as he comes close to the edge, as he thinks he is about to get out, the man on the bank with the small stones, he will throw a stone atom and that stone will cause him to go back to the middle of the river. And then again, he will come and again he will be thrown back. And this will continue to happen to him until Yeoman piano. In another Hadith the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam once passed by two graves in the Hadith.
In Bukhari and Muslim, he passed by two graves, and he said in the Humala, your IV ban, Mama your IV ban if he Kabir huduma, fatahna Allah is that you luminol bone, what Amala haruf Akana yum Sheena Mima, he said the two inhabitants of these graves are being punished, and they are not being punished for a major sin that they committed. There was a minus in that they committed that they are being punished for as for one of them, then he wouldn't protect himself from his own urine. When he would go and relieve himself, he wouldn't protect his body from the traces of his own urine. And as for the other one, he would go around and spread rumors about people. Yet there are other Hadith of
the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, in which he mentioned that a person who has a debt, a person who takes a loan and they're in debt, even if they are believers, they will not be allowed or the souls will not be allowed to enter into Jannah until that debt is repaid.
And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in one Hadith regarding this said, even if that person is a martyr, who has been martyred in the way of Allah, even his soul will not be allowed to go until that debt is repaid. And this is why the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would not prey on a generous if he knew there was a debt. And he would ask the companions and he would say, Who will pay this debt for these people,
even though they mentioned a number of other things as well, which are also punishable in the grave and I'll just go through them. He says, For example, missing the prayer or praying without purification without being in a state of purification, not giving the sucker or deceiving people not helping those who are oppressed, drinking alcohol, having having your garments below your ankles, spell, murdering someone, and other things like this dying upon a bitter. All of these are actions which are punishable in the grave, and then have not been running my whole life. dimensioning this list
of sins that people commit. He says in the following paragraph, he has a beautiful paragraph in which he says that when you consider all of these sins that are punishable in the grave, then it is not impossible to think that the vast majority of people in their graves have been punished that the vast majority of people in their graves are being punished. Because how many Muslims are there who are actually free of all of these sins? How many Muslims are there that are actually safeguarded from all of these sins, if they don't do one, they will do another. If they stay away from the first five, they will be dealing with the next five. Somewhere along the line, the Muslim will go into one
of these sins. And so that shows the importance of seeking forgiveness from Allah subhanho wa Taala and repenting from our sins May Allah azzawajal protect us from the punishments of those graves. Even obeying Rahim Allah He then goes on in the final section when he speaks about the grave, to speak about that which will save a person from the punishments of the grave. And this is probably the most important part of this lecture because we need to know how to protect ourselves from the grave and its punishments. And he says that there is nothing better like in Islam, there is nothing better to safeguard yourself from the punishment and the evils of the grave than having faith in
Allah subhanho wa Taala and fearing a lot of xojo, there is nothing better in the sight of Allah subhanho wa Taala than the one who has True, true taqwa, who has true fear of Allah subhanho wa Taala. Then he says, it is also imperative to stay away from those sins, those sins which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned, as being punishable in the grave. And then he said, a person commits righteous deeds, he seeks forgiveness from Allah, and then he commits righteous deeds as a lie. So he says in the Quran, interessati sanity, you will hipness, a good deeds extinguished evil deeds. So if a person has these evil deeds that he's committed, he asks a lot for forgiveness,
and then he performance more righteous deeds, in the hope that a large soldier will extinguish those evil deeds. So he says, For example, but from amongst that which will help a person stay away from the punishment of the grave is that they should recite Surah mulk every single night before they sleep. And there are there are a number of narrations in which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, concerning surah to mark, that it is something which will save you from the punishment of the grave. And there is a difference of opinion over those intensity of those ahaadeeth. But there are scholars who have authenticated those narrations. He also mentions that from amongst those
things, which protects the person from the punishments of the grave, is if a person dies on the Friday, that if a person dies on a Friday, and this is something which will also save him from the punishment of the grave. And lastly, if a person dies from a disease or an ailment, an illness, which afflicted his stomach, something which afflicted a person's stomach, if they die due to that kind of disease, then this is something which will also protect them. And then he mentioned that there are that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam would teach the companions about which the companions or their loved one whom would say that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam taught us
this Torah, just as he would teach us Surah Al Fatiha from the Quran. And that is the door that we should recite in every single prayer and that the chef would allow him in the room, becoming Azerbaijan woman as a woman fitness. Mama woman, fitna Kumasi had the Jan thiruvalla seek refuge in You from the punishment of the Hellfire and from the punishment of the grave, and from the trials of living and dying, and from the trials of the jungle. This is something that we need to learn that we need to recite in our prayers, and that we need to teach our children that we need to teach our children as well. I will conclude this lecture inshallah today I mentioned to you two more
statements from the scholars of Islam, from the red scholars of the past Rahim Allah, again concerning death and again concerning the grave. So Fiona folio Rahim Allah one of the famous scholars of Islam.
He would say the two soever remembers the grave will find whosoever often remembers the grave in this life, he will find that in the next life, it will be for him a garden in paradise. And whosoever does not remember the grave, neglects remembrance of death and the grave, then in the next life, they will find there is a pit of fire for them. And Santa hablando dos Rahim Allahu taala, one of the other scholars of the self, he was asked, what is behind the door of death after death strikes what is behind this door? And he replied, Rahim Allah and he said, there are only two things, either a garden of Paradise or a pet of the hellfire. And then he said, and it is up to you
to choose between the two.
And this is the note that I want to leave on that I want to conclude this lecture on his statement, that there are only two things behind the door of death as a larger Virgil also says in the Quran.
Upon Phil Genova ferrea confiserie there will be a party in the fire and a party in paradise. There are only two things behind the door of death. Jenna Johanna, a garden of Paradise or a pit of the fire. And it is up to us, me and you to choose between the two. There is based upon our actions, our deeds, that Allah azzawajal will give us either one of those one or the other. And so that is the choice that we need to make. And this is why you find that the scholars Rahim Allah would spend so much time worrying and remembering death and the grave. So that it would bring them closer to Allah subhanho wa Taala. So that the choice that they will make and inshallah, the choice that they will
be given is their choice of Paradise May Allah subhanho wa Taala grant us the blessings of Paradise May he save us from the trials of the grave and from the clouds of the fire. And from all of the trials of this life and the next meal, Allah subhanho wa Taala blessing that which we do and guide us to that which is true. And that which is from the straight path that will lower them will sort of know when and to be in a moment early. He was talking to
him for that very important life changes that can occur on demand.
And we'll take a couple of questions. Just want to reiterate, this was the second in a series of six lectures this month taking place on the topic of a journey to the afterlife or going to another world. Tomorrow's lecture will take place after certain Margaret and I will be sharing Solomon Emery talking about a yarmulke my day of judgment. One other announcement is that the cabin is open in the carpark so in books and DVDs, so if anyone wants to catch up on any of the Saturday lectures or any of the turabian recitation or any anything else that took place here, and the cabin is open, and the carpark selling that kind of stuff. Are there any questions on the topic of the lecture?
No questions.
Bismillah Alhamdulillah wa salatu salam ala rasulillah.
Allah, I didn't get all of your question. But I think what you were saying is what was the status of the sinners beam and the angels come? I used to be about one Karate Kid.
Okay, so the brothers referring to the Hadith of the Prophet of Solomon, the Angel of Death will come and he will say come out of good solo come out to Richard. So depending on whether the person's a believer or a disbeliever So your question is regarding the sinners, the believers were sinners, what will the angels say to them Alon.
For the relatives of those Muslims who have passed away, what can we do? There are a number of things that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned.
Firstly, the first thing that you can do is make dua for them. ask Allah subhana wa Taala, that he forgives them, and that he shows his mercy upon them. And this is something which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with regards to a person's own children mentioned as a sort of Algeria, that Allah subhanho wa Taala. From those actions, which will continue for a person is one of them solid from your ruler, a righteous child, that continues to make dua. And I think for many of us, for those of us that have parents or grandparents or great grandparents that have passed away, we often don't make time for them. And there isn't someone except that he has a parent or a
grandparent, or a great grandparent that has passed away, and these are people that we should make time for. Another thing which we can do is the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned is paying off their debts if they have any debts, meant to pay off those debts is something which inshallah will remove that obstacle from them entering into general. Also, if they haven't completed any of the obligatory acts from Hajj, or fasting, then this is something which a person can also do on their behalf. So if a person never from hydro camera, then it's something which a person can do on their behalf. So if you have parents or grandparents or other relatives that haven't performed
Hajj or Umrah then you can pay for someone to go go yourself
As long as that person has performed Hajj on their own behalf first to go and perform those actions for them, number one,
what is the correct way of constructing a grave and lowering the budget scrape? Honestly, I don't
know the way they do it in Saudi Arabia. I know the way they do it in such a hurry, but like, for example, in berthier, in Medina, and the way they do is they construct the grave, they dig it down a number of feet, and then they dig sideways. So either to the right or to the left.
Yeah, so this is, right. That's what they do. And then they obviously
that's that's what they do. So that's all I know.
Everyone else.
If you
the processing, what is the punishment for those who wear the trousers beneath the ankles, there are a number of Hadith
from that from the as the Hadith of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam manjaro is Zoho Kibriya the whosoever drugs is government out of arrogance and pride that allows the widget will not speak to him, nor will he look at him a normal pm and there is another Hadith in which the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said Mossville. cabine philosophy nor anything which is below the ankles is in the file
below on.
What is the ruling on women visiting graves? This is a question which the scholars have different over scholars who have allowed and scholars who have disallowed it and both of them have a number of opinions concerning this.
One a number of my teachers the opinions that they have, normally the Saudi scholars hold, is that it is not allowed for women to visit graves Hold on.
Sorry.
What if you can't locate the people that you owe money to?
From I can remember, I think this question was asked once to someone in the forum.
If Firstly, you need to ensure that you can't locate them. So normally, what what you will do is you would announce that this money is a debt for someone that they need to come and collect the tree you need to
exhaust all avenues in order to find that person. And then if you can't find that person, there is no way to locate them. Then you just give it as a sock on their behalf and give us a charity on their name on their behalf. Hold on.
