As-salamu alaykum everyone.
I am right now in Madinah, Al-Madinah
al-Munawwara, the city of the Prophet ﷺ.
There you can see behind me, the green
dome above the Rauza of Rasulullah ﷺ.
And I'm right now walking through Jannatul Baqiyah,
where over 10,000 companions of Rasulullah ﷺ
are buried, including his wives, some of his
children are also buried here.
So imagine, Rasulullah ﷺ had over 100,000
companions, and only let's say 10% of
them, or just a bit more, are buried
here.
So what happened to the rest of them?
90% of them, they are buried outside
of Madinah, and many are buried outside of
the Arabian Peninsula.
They went out to take the message of
Islam to the world, so that they can
do their responsibility, which was given to them
by the Prophet ﷺ at Hajjatul Wada, when
the Prophet ﷺ delivered his famous sermon.
And then he asked them, have I delivered
the message to you?
And they all said collectively, yes, Ya Rasulullah,
you have delivered the message.
And then Rasulullah ﷺ said, Allahumma shahad, Allahumma
shahad, Allahumma shahad, O Allah, you bear witness
that I have delivered the message.
And then he said to his followers, Faljuballighu
shahid al-ghaib, those who are present here,
take the message to those who are absent.
So only 10,000 of them are buried
here, but the rest are buried outside of
Arabia or outside of Madinah.
My brothers and sisters, the reason why they
went out was to spread the message of
Islam, and eventually, within a century, within a
hundred years of the Prophet's life ﷺ, Islam
reached from China to Spain.
And this was the blessing of the deeds
and the sacrifices of the people.
Behind us is Mount Uhud.
The famous Mount Uhud.
And Alhamdulillah, in front of us is the
road of Rasulullah ﷺ.
Masjid al-Nabawi is right in front of
us.
And we are walking through the quboor, the
graves of the companions of Rasulullah ﷺ.
So I just want you to think about
this, brothers and sisters.
You know, this is, look at their graves,
how humble they are.
They are some of the greatest people to
walk the planet.
These are the awliya of Allah who spent
their lives with the Prophet ﷺ.
And they are the best people to walk
the earth.
And look at the humility of their graves.
Because what was special about them was their
characters, their deeds, their teachings.
And they served the cause of Allah, the
deen of Allah, to the best of their
abilities.
And then they gave their lives to Allah.
And here they are, many of them.
Even the family.
Fatima is buried here.
Hassan is buried here.
Many of the wives of Rasulullah, including Aisha
is buried here among these graves in the
front.
Many, many great Imams.
Imam Malik bin Anas is also buried here
in al-Baqi.
Many great personalities that we don't have the
time to address.
So the reminder is, think about it.
That these are the best people to walk
the planet after the Prophets.
And most of them, they went out.
And those who stayed, they stayed for a
reason.
They went out to spread the message of
Islam.
The question is, what are the Muslims doing
today?
And you know those 90% of the
companions of Rasulullah ﷺ, they could have chosen
to be here, they could have chosen to
be buried here.
But they found the mission of Islam to
be more, you know, to be more worthy
of a cause in the sense that they
want to go out and do the responsibility
that was given by the Prophet ﷺ.
And those who stayed, they were also doing
their responsibility.
Teaching, taking care of the city of Medina
and all the necessary practices.
And you know, whatever was the legacy of
Rasulullah ﷺ, they were taking care of it
there.
So here in the front you can see,
right now, where the police is.
You can see this taken apart here.
If I'm not mistaken, these are the graves
of the family of the Prophet ﷺ.
Very important people.
Unfortunately, the attributions are not certain.
Because there is difference of opinion in the
reports.
But we know in the front here, some
of the most important people from the families
of the Prophet ﷺ in these graves here.
On that note brothers and sisters, I just
want you to share this brief piece of
history from Islam and the Muslim history.
These are the companions of Rasulullah ﷺ.
