The Surahs of the Bible are important in carrying out the message of Islam, including relationships and human experiences. They cover topics such as relationships, human experiences, and personal stories. The cluster of surahs in the Quran is described as a group of surahs that teach about relationships, human experiences, and relationships with people. The importance of learning to control one's anger and learning to control one's storylines is emphasized. The transcript also touches on the struggles of a former prince who lost his country and was punished by Showman, ultimately allowed to continue living with it.

Surah Al-Qasas In the name of Allah,
Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of
the worlds.
Allahumma salli wa sallim wa barak ala nabiyyina
wa habibina muhammadin wa ala alihi wa sahbihi
ajma'in wa ba'd.
Today, insha'Allah, I will talk about Surah
Al-Qasas.
And before I get into the surah, I
will do a quick revision of the fourth
cluster of surahs in the Quran that ran
from Surah Al-Isra until Surah An-Naml
and the concepts that they taught.
These clusters of surahs talked about carrying the
message of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And we were taught very important things.
We were taught that this baton has been
passed on to us by the previous nations.
And that as we are now responsible to
carrying this message, we have the guidance of
the Quran to help us along.
And that was what Surah Al-Isra taught
us.
And we were also taught that our goal
here is to build a civilization.
And we were given all the elements that
will allow us to do that, giving us
the bigger picture of what carrying the message
is going to look like.
And that's what Surah Al-Kahf taught.
On the same note, we were also told
that carrying the message is something that starts
in the family.
It's passed on from father to son, from
mother to son, from sibling to another.
And that focus on family we found in
Surah Maryam.
We were also told that carrying the message
is not to make us miserable.
Carrying the message is a struggle that you
will find satisfaction within if you continue to
do it and stand up against oppression and
strive with it.
And that's what Surah Taha taught us.
We were also shown all the Prophets before
us.
How they struggled.
How they carried the message and had different
problems and different needs.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala responded to
them differently.
Being taught that they are our role models.
And if we carry this message, we will
have a similar story to theirs.
And that the earth will be inherited by
the fit.
And that's what Surah Al-Anbiya taught us.
We were also told that the value in
carrying the message is in the individual.
That investing in people, in the individual, and
the importance of carrying certain attributes and living
with these attributes.
And that carrying the message is basically that's
all Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala wants from
us.
As individuals is to do that.
And that's what Surah Al-Mu'minoon focused on.
We were also shown that if societies carry
the message and follow the rulings of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala, then it will be
filled with light if they follow the proper
manners and the proper teachings of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala which was Surah An-Nur
gave us.
Surah Al-Hajj told us that as long
as you carry the message, you're going to
need to be flexible.
You're going to need to stand your ground
and be focused.
And if you do that then you will
be able to achieve your success using both
rituals and using general striving which is what
Surah Al-Hajj taught us.
Surah Al-Furqan gave us a number of
different warnings of things that could allow us
or cause us not to be able to
carry this message properly.
And then gave us tips of how we're
supposed to deal with it.
The last two surahs of the cluster gave
us examples of two elements.
That will affect our ability to carry the
message quite significantly.
The first one was public narratives.
Whether that be our narrative or the narrative
of the opposite side.
The effect of public narratives on our ability
to spread the message and carry it and
the effect of strength, of technology and power
which is what we saw in Surah An
-Naml yesterday.
The fifth cluster of surahs in the Quran
spans from Al-Qasas to Al-Sajdah.
And these surahs talk about relationships.
The relationships we have with a lot of
different things in life.
The most important aspect of our existence are
relationships.
Everything bottles down at the end no matter
how complicated we think we are and no
matter how achieved we think we are or
not achieved that we think we are.
Everything comes down to relationships.
The most powerful person in the world, the
most wealthy person in the world, the most
famous person in the world, defines their lives
by the relationships that they have.
And this cluster of surahs is extremely interesting.
Because it just takes, through a couple of
surahs, shows us the relationships we have with
specific issues or specific aspects of our existence.
And then it tells us how to deal
with these relationships.
And you'll see that inshallah in the next
few days.
Surah Al-Qasas, the stories, talks about from
its name the relationship that we have with
people.
And their stories.
And the relationship they have with our stories.
And how our stories, all of us together
as human beings, our stories are intertwined.
And they come together even though we all
see our stories and other people's stories from
a different angle.
And sometimes what we're seeing is not actually
what is happening.
And the relationship that we have with people
is based on the relationship that we have
with stories, our own and other people's stories.
The fifth pillar in the Quran, which extends
from Surah Al-Qasas to Surah Al-Sajdah,
is the pillar of human relationships.
This human experience that we live in, is
the pillar of relationships in life.
No matter how big or small you are.
No matter how much money you have.
No matter how much fame you have.
No matter how much power you have.
What defines your existence is relationships.
Your relationships with different things in this life.
Including life itself.
Your relationships with generations.
Your relationships with life.
Your relationships with Allah.
Your relationships with people.
Surah Al-Qasas is at the beginning of
this pillar.
And it's a beautiful surah.
And its meaning is very subtle and profound.
And it teaches us how to deal with
these relationships.
Surah Al-Qasas, in its name, talks about
our relationships with people.
Our relationship with other people's stories.
And how our stories and their stories are
intertwined.
And each of us has a different perspective
on other people's stories.
And how this perspective can be wrong sometimes.
Because we don't understand what other people are
going through.
And we can't control other people's stories.
And sometimes we can't control our own stories.
So there are advices in this surah.
Such as trust in Allah and submission.
And follow life regardless of the stories we
see.
Surah Al-Qasas,
at the beginning of it, starts telling us...
Actually Surah Al-Qasas only has two stories
in it, really.
It has the story of Musa Alayhis Salaam.
And then at the end it has the
story of Qarun.
When you look at the story of Musa
Alayhis Salaam in Surah Al-Qasas, you find
that it's the only time in the Quran
where you hear the story in full.
Meaning you go through the whole story.
Basically from the day he was born, Alayhis
Salaam, till the day he crossed the river.
And then, not all in detail, but we
got to hear that whole process.
How he was born, how he struggled, how
he stood in front of Fir'aun, all
that happening in one place.
See Surah Al-Qasas, Musa is all through
the Quran.
But you find snapshots here and there.
You find in Al-A'raf, you find
in Al-Shu'ara, you find in Surah
Al-Baqarah, you find that all over the
Quran.
But every surah is talking about a specific
part of the story.
Surah Al-Qasas tells you the story, gives
you a bigger picture of the story.
As some say,
From when he was thrown into
the river till he crossed, thrown into the
sea till he crossed the sea, Alayhis Salaam.
We start looking at the surah from the
beginning of it.
And what you start to see are actions
that, if you were to be observing outside
the Quran, outside of what you already know,
you would find really weird.
And we told Umm Musa Alayhis Salaam.
It was revealed to her.
How exactly, we don't know.
She wasn't a prophet, but we don't know
exactly how.
But it was revealed to her.
That breastfeed him and if you get scared
for him, throw him into the river.
We will take care of him from there.
Now I want you to imagine seeing Umm
Musa.
You're not aware of this story.
And you see a lady standing in front
of a river and throwing an infant into
the river.
How would you react to something like that?
Imagine what would go through your head.
This is child abuse.
This lady is insane.
She needs to be put in jail.
Someone save that child.
That is the way we see her story.
This is how we see it.
But that's not the reality of her story.
Musa came back to her.
How did he come back to her?
He came back to her as a prince.
He was now the adopted son of Fir
'aun and Asiyah.
And he lived in the castle of Fir
'aun.
She was scared that she couldn't feed this
boy.
She was scared that he was going to
get killed by Fir'aun and those who
stood by him.
Throwing him in the river made no sense
whatsoever.
But this boy ended up coming back to
her.
Let's take a look at the story from
looking at Fir'aun.
Fir'aun adopted one of the children of
Bani Israel.
Everyone's clapping.
He's a philanthropist.
They'll forget that he's been killing children for
ages.
But he has now brought a child that
they found abandoned in the river.
And he's going to adopt him and bring
him to his house.
That's how people see it.
People think he's awesome.
Little do they know how much he hates
this.
He's unhappy with this.
He doesn't want it.
It's the wife who does.
Please don't kill him.
Let's hold on to him.
She couldn't have children, Asiya.
So she holds on to this boy.
To make this story even more complicated, Fir
'aun is literally raising in his house the
one that will destroy him and his empire.
Fir'aun is so scared that he's going
to lose power of Egypt, that he is
just randomly slaughtering children of Bani Israel.
It's unthinkable.
It's unimaginable what Fir'aun was doing.
And then Fir'aun actually raises in his
own house the person who is going to
bring him down and his empire.
He didn't see that, did he?
Neither did we.
Neither did Musa Alayhi Salaam.
But that's how stories go.
That's how stories go.
If you saw Musa Alayhi Salaam as he
was defending a friend of his who called
upon him.
He's defending him so he's fighting with someone.
A friend of his was
being bullied by a person from Al-Fir
'aun.
So he goes and he defends his friend,
and he pushes that guy back and this
man falls down and dies.
What a criminal, he just killed someone.
Because again, then his friend will call him
the next day, he's being bullied by someone
from Al-Fir'aun.
Everyday you have
a fight.
And he almost, he was gonna hit
the other guy again, but people had already
figured out and heard that
accidentally killed someone.
Accidentally because Allah ﷻ told us.
But if you saw
him, you would say مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ سَلَامٌ was
a criminal.
Little did you know that
was defending a friend.
We're quick to judge as people when we
see things happening.
We're quick to judge.
What Surah Al-Qasas is gonna teach us,
it's gonna teach us two things regarding relationships.
Actually it's gonna teach a lot of stuff,
but these are two tips we're gonna walk
away today with.
Number one, don't judge.
Number two, have trust in Allah ﷻ.
And if you want, number three, understand that
we can't really control all these stories.
Some stories never end.
Some stories just continue ongoing.
One story leads to the other.
And the complexity of these stories is hard
for us to actually comprehend and understand.
And just accept that and you'll live happier.
And مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ سَلَامٌ that's what it seemed
to people, but that's not the reality.
Then مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ سَلَامٌ had to leave.
He left, he was
scared, he was upset, he lost his country,
he was living in a palace the other
day.
He was basically a prince and now he's
running, he's a fugitive.
And he's leaving Egypt.
What does he feel?
I think he's judging his story, this is
the worst day of my life.
Nothing worse could have ever happened to me.
I'm thrown out of my palace, I can't
go back to Egypt, I can't see my
family.
He's thinking this is the worst thing that
ever happened to him.
But really was it?
When he goes to Median and he meets
the two girls who can't seem to take
the herd in because they're ladies and the
rest are men.
So he goes and he helps them.
He helps these two girls.
He asked
them, why aren't you taking your herd into
the water pool?
We can't, it's all men and our father
is too old to actually do this, so
we have to wait until everyone's gone.
So he took the herd and he made
sure they drank and brought them back to
the ladies.
The lady goes and tells her father, this
is what happened.
So he tells her, go call him for
me.
So she goes and she calls him and
Musa A.S. comes.
Now whether it's Shu'ayb A.S. or
not, I don't know and no one really
knows and you'll find a hundred opinions, it
doesn't matter.
He's a Shaykh Kabir, he's someone who's very
wise who lives in Madian, who's Salih, who's
a pious man.
So he offers him to get married and
the mahr and the dowry is going to
be for him to take care of the
herd of this man for eight to ten
years.
Musa A.S. who was once only a
few weeks ago living in a palace is
now going to be taking care of a
herd of sheep for the next ten years.
Musa A.S. needed to be educated.
Allah SWT wants to give him Risalah, He
wants to make him a prophet.
You need to change Musa.
You need to leave, you need to leave
your country, go try something different.
Go let life put some pressure on you.
Let it make you a bit stronger.
Learn to carry responsibility.
Get married, have a family.
Learn to control your anger.
When you're dealing with animals, you can't be
angry all the time.
It's impossible.
They're animals.
You have to have Rahmah and compassion.
So he had to learn to calm down
a little bit.
He still had this anger with him.
You'll see it in Surah Al-A'raf
and other places.
But he learned to control it to the
point where he'd never make that mistake again
where he'd harm someone else.
Musa A.S. thought this was the worst
thing in the world that he had to
leave Nusr.
And actually the best thing that ever happened
to him was that he went to Madian.
And he got married and he learned.
And he lived with this old man who
taught him.
And then on the way back what happens?
Revelation comes to him.
If he stayed in Egypt, that would have
happened.
This is the story of Musa A.S.
If you saw Pharaoh taking a child from
the river and raising him in his house,
you'd say, what did he do to him?
What did he do to him?
You don't know that he hates this matter.
And that he's raising in his house someone
who will bring him destruction in the future.
Glory be to Allah.
We don't know.
And Pharaoh doesn't know.
And Musa A.S. doesn't know.
No one.
Stories, my brothers, you can't know the end
of them.
We learn from the story of Surah Al
-Qasas just to deal with life with the
principles that Allah taught us.
We can't know the end of the stories.
Trust in Allah.
Don't judge people.
If you saw Musa A.S. beating that
man from Pharaoh's family, you'd say he's aggressive
towards him.
And Musa A.S. is defending a man
from his sect.
When Musa A.S. was expelled from Egypt,
he said to himself, this is the worst
thing that has ever happened to me in
my life.
Now I'm expelled from the palace.
I can't see my mother and my family.
And he doesn't know that Allah drives him
to Madinah so he can marry and learn
how to control his anger.
And so he can learn from this great
sheikh in Madinah.
And so he can herd the sheep, as
is the Sunnah of all Prophets.
Then on his way back, he will be
revealed to him.
So what evil is this that he brought
him out of?
He was only brought out by Allah's desire
to discipline and raise him.
But he didn't know that.
And no harm.
No harm in not knowing why Allah, Glory
be to Him, drove you to this place
as long as you trust Him.
As long as you follow the path.
As long as you don't judge events from
the first glance and you don't know the
details.
These are our relations with people and stories,
my brothers.
And then you continue.
You see the story goes on.
And Musa A.S., he goes and takes
Harun A.S. It'll never end.
So the story is beautiful and I feel
like I want to tell you all the
details about it but it'll just take too
much time.
But go and read it.
And it tells you all these details of
how he talks to Harun and they go
and speak to Firaun.
And Firaun refuses and asks for a telescope
to see Allah.
took him when he was too arrogant to
accept what Musa was teaching.
We took him and we threw him and
those who followed him into the river.
The same river that he found Musa in,
A.S. Just something for us to learn
from.
Right after that part of the surah, Allah
has an ayah right there in the middle
of the commentary verses on the story.
You cannot guide
those whom you love.
Things don't go
the way we want them to go.
The stories never turn out the way we
really want them to turn out.
They're not Hollywood movies.
They turn out however Allah wants them to
turn out.
Surah Al-Qasas came, was revealed to the
Prophet A.S. just after Abu Talib died
in Khadija.
Just before Isra' in that period.
And the Prophet A.S. had just lost
Abu Talib and Abu Talib didn't tell him
La ilaha illa Allah.
He wanted to hear it from him, he
didn't say it.
So the ayah,
You don't know Abu Talib's story, Ya Rasulallah.
You don't know it in detail.
Don't judge, leave it.
Things won't go your way.
They won't always go your way.
They barely ever go your way.
And that's just what we're being taught in
this surah.
If you continue these verses, there are a
number of lessons that are being taught to
us through them.
And I'm going to point out one or
two.
Know that everything that you're
given in this life is just the leisures
of this life and the decorations for it.
That's all it is.
But what you're
promised from Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A
'la, the judgment is way more worthy than
whatever it is you're given in this life.
And Allah Subh
'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la, your Lord, He
creates what He wants.
And He makes the choice that He wants.
No one gets to
choose.
The storyline that you're a part of right
now in your life, you didn't get to
choose all the details of it.
You're a part of it.
It's your storyline.
Live it.
Don't judge other people's storylines.
And when your story crosses paths with someone
else's story, make sure that you make the
best of it.
Make sure that these relationships are relationships that
are good.
Make sure you understand that people have their
own problems, and they're going through their own
struggles.
And that you don't necessarily, you can't necessarily
understand what's going on with them.
So don't be quick to judge.
And trust Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A
'la.
Musa Alayhi Salaam was thrown into the river.
He made his way back to his mother.
He made his way back out of Egypt
and back into Egypt.
And he was able to bring down...
How did this all happen?
He didn't plan any of this Alayhi Salaam.
He just continued to do what he knew
was right.
He just stuck to a couple of laws
that he knew he needed to stick to.
He trusted Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A
'la and did his best.
That's why the verse is
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
tells us time and time again, see you
can't control any of this, you can't control,
if I were to make, if the earth
was to stop rotating and it was always
day, or if it was always night, who
can change this?
you can't change anything, you can't control your
environment, you can't control these things, it's Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala who does, وَمِن رَّحْمَتِهِ
فَضْلِهِ but Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala out
of His mercy, He keeps things moving subhanahu
wa ta'ala, so just trust it, just
trust Him subhanahu wa ta'ala, don't leave
it, you can't control all this stuff, إِنَّكَ
لَا تَهَدِي مَنْ أَحْبَبْتِ you can't control it,
but you can continue to live with it,
appreciate it for what it actually is, the
story of Qarun in the surah is extremely
important, story of Qarun is someone, again because
it shows you how people are looking at
it, when people saw him in all his,
what did they say?
I wish I had what
Qarun had, he is so lucky, he has
so much, little did they know that that's
not the case at all, that Qarun didn't
have what he wanted, that Qarun was unhappy,
and that Qarun was going to be punished
in this dunya before akhirah, and when he
actually, فَخَسَفْنَا بِهِ وَبِدَارِهِ الْأَرْضِ and when he
finally, when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala finally
punished him, and he lost everything, قَالُوا وَيْكَأَنَّ
We are very lucky, if he had
said something more of this, maybe Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala would have punished us with
him, we didn't see it, it wasn't clear
to us, we thought that Qarun was the
happiest person alive, that wasn't the case, wasn't
the case at all, they couldn't see it,
but Qarun was being told, he was being
being told, use the wealth that you have
for khair, don't forget to enjoy dunya, but
make sure that you don't transgress against others,
make sure that as Allah SWT treated you
with excellence, that you do the same for
other people.
But he wasn't listening.
I have
my wealth because I'm capable, and I know
what I'm doing.
هذه الأمور the end of the surah he
says سبحانه وتعالى one of the most beautiful
علوة في الأرض ولا فسادة that is the
آخرة آخرة الجنة we offer it for those
who don't want علوة who don't want to
be arrogant like فرعون ولا فسادة and want
to be corrupt like قارون the two stories
that exist in the surah however the pious
will win at the end and he is
told because خديجة had died as well he
lost خديجة so he is told don't worry
the one who gave you the Quran will
reunite you again will return you back to
the moment you will see her again you'll
be there again Muhammad
you didn't think you were going to be
a prophet did you?
the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم his story
did he write his story?
no he was given prophecy he's being told
you didn't want this did you?
you didn't even know you were going to
be given this were you?
no I didn't know يا رب alright then
don't stand by the كافرين don't let them
take you and divert you away from the
revelation of Allah سبحانه وتعالى continue to teach
the message continue to do the right thing
everything ends all the stories at the end
will end except Allah سبحانه وتعالى's story his
story is what started all this and his
story will live on our stories are just
here for a short period of time just
for a little bit we get to live
our stories live it live it to the
best of your ability don't judge others don't
judge other people and their stories don't harm
them don't work against them have mercy hold
on to your ethics as you go along
and trust Allah سبحانه وتعالى and that's what
سورة القصص teaches us this is how we're
supposed to have relationships with others our relationship
with others is based on the fact well
that's your story line and this is mine
how can I contribute to yours positively and
not judge you and how can you do
the same for me and that's really all
it is it seems that these stories are
complicated there's a lot of details but they're
really not, are they?
it's very simple the story of فرعون a
person who was arrogant that's all it is
just arrogance it killed him it destroyed him
قارون complicated a lot of money involved no
vanity destroyed him موسى عليه السلام complicated no
anger issues anger issues and then after that
bravery and solid ethics that's all it is
we think our stories are unique, don't we?
everyone thinks that my story is different none
of us are our stories are normal and
they're not very complicated either they're pretty simple
so live them to the best of your
ability trust Allah سبحانه وتعالى respect the relationships
of your stories with others and that's what
سورة القصص teaches and I hope that was
Inshallah tonight after Taraweeh we
will have a couple of minutes where Sheikh
Ahmed will do some Ibtihal for us so
please tune in it's a nice treat for
us on the weekend
