Today insha'Allah I will talk about Surah
Al-Fatihah.
It's the second surah within the ninth cluster
of surahs in the Quran that talk about
the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam.
This cluster, only three surahs, and the focus
is the Prophet alayhi wa sallam from different
angles.
And yesterday I talked about Surah Muhammad, the
first surah within this cluster.
Surah Muhammad it reminds us that in order
for our deeds to be accepted, in order
for our societies to prosper, in order for
there to be fruition, we have to follow
him salallahu alayhi wa sallam.
Following him needs to be put to the
test that we actually will follow to the
extent of what that means.
Knowing that following him alayhi wa sallam means
that we are actually only doing things that
serve ourselves in the long run, even if
it's not clear at the beginning.
This concept is going to be explained in
more detail in Surah Al-Fatihah.
Surah Al-Fatihah is similar.
Surah Al-Fatihah is basically a continuation of
what Surah Muhammad began.
Surah Al-Fatihah is saying here's the example
of those who did follow him salallahu alayhi
wa sallam and what they got, the consequences
of following him alayhi wa sallam.
And that's basically what Surah Al-Fatihah is
going to teach.
Surah Al-Fatihah is a madani surah.
It was revealed just after the Treaty of
Al-Hudaidiyah.
It doesn't talk actually about Fatih Makkah.
It was revealed before Fatih Makkah.
And it was called Fatih and it's referring
to the treaty actually.
It's not referring to the conquest of the
Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam entering Makkah.
It was talking about the actual sulh which
is in itself an extremely important concept that
we will talk about that explains why the
surah is so important.
So it begins,

Indeed, we have granted you a great and
clear opening, a Fathan, a clear opening, so
that Allah may forgive all of your sins
and may guide you to the righteous path
and may Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A
'la grant you victory.
Mind you, when the Fath of Sulh al
-Hudaybi actually occurred, no one was happy with
it except the Prophet, and that's why this
surah is within this cluster of following him.
It was difficult for the Sahaba to follow
him when he made this treaty.
To give you some context, right after the
battle of Al-Khandaq in the third year
of Hijrah, the Muslims went through a lot
of difficulties.
There was a lot of assassinations and they
lost a lot of allies and there wasn't
a lot of provision.
They were hungry.
They were difficult years.
The morale was low.
Not many people were accepting Islam and the
numbers were basically plateaued at that point.
And then the Prophet, peace be upon him,
promised them that they were going to go
do Umrah because he saw in a dream
that they were doing Umrah.
So he took the people of Medina and
the Sahaba with him and they went to
do Umrah and it's known traditionally that you're
not allowed to send back someone who's coming
to perform Umrah from the Haram, even if
you disagree with them, even if you're at
war with them.
If they're coming for worship, then you allow
them.
That is the law of the land.
But the Prophet, peace be upon him, and
the Muslims were denied access to Mecca.
And the Prophet, peace be upon him, sent
people to negotiate and Uthman ibn Affan was
sent in, didn't come back.
There was a rumor that he was killed.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, asked the
Sahaba to pledge with him that they would
fight with him, peace be upon him, to
avenge Uthman if indeed Quraysh had killed him.
And they did.
They accepted that even though they had not
left Medina with the intention of war and
they weren't prepared for it.
Thankfully, Uthman came back and that was resolved.
It took a while, but the Prophet, peace
be upon him, was finally able to negotiate
with Quraysh a deal.
The deal was extremely unfair towards the Muslims.
The first clause of it was that you
will go back and you won't perform Umrah
this year.
This blew the Sahaba's minds.
Very unhappy with that.
To the point where even Umar ibn Khattab,
may Allah be pleased with him, would run
around from one position to the other trying
to rally people to go and object to
the Prophet, peace be upon him.
He failed, but he tried.
He went to Abu Bakr and to Uthman
and to Ali.
And the Sahaba were very upset with this
because they couldn't see the wisdom of what
he was doing, peace be upon him.
The only clause he cared about in the
treaty was the clause that there will be
peace for the next ten years.
That's all he cared about.
The rest of the clause didn't matter to
him, peace be upon him.
Other articles in this treaty was that if
a person leaves Mecca coming to Medina as
a Muslim, you have to send them back.
But if a person leaves Islam and comes
to Mecca, they can stay.
The Sahaba were getting more and more angry
as these articles were being written and agreed
upon.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, he had
long-term vision, peace be upon him, which
is I think one of the concepts Surah
Al-Fatihah is trying to explain.
It takes time.
When you follow him, peace be upon him,
to achieve fruition of his followership, it takes
time.
It's not going to happen like that.
Societies or families or individuals who become Muslim,
it's not going to work out all at
once.
You're not going to see an immediate change
for the better.
It's going to take time.
In order for us to see success and
prosperity, these things take time.
At the end of the Surah, Allah SWT
will clarify that even more.
The example that was given here in Surah
Al-Fatihah is the Treaty of Hudaybiyah.
When they looked at it at the beginning,
they didn't like it.
They hated it.
They thought it was so unfair.
Little did they know that two years later,
after Surah Al-Hudaybiyah, two years later, without
anything actually occurring, without any big event, the
number of Muslims would skyrocket.
It's like the graph of the Muslim population
would go like this, slowly going up, and
then Hudaybiyah came and it goes like that.
Because there's peace and the Prophet SAW is
able to speak freely.
Omar ibn Al-Khattab, when the Surah was
revealed, he came to the Prophet SAW and
he said, Ya Rasulullah, is it really a
Fatihah?
The Prophet SAW said, yes, it is a
Fatihah.
So Omar ibn Al-Khattab held his tongue.
Two years later, when the number of Muslims
skyrocketed, he came to the Prophet SAW and
he said, Ya Rasulullah, it's your vision that
matters, Ya Rasulullah, not mine.
I was wrong.
You're the one who...
And he would continue to speak of how
he regretted what he did that day till
the day he died.
He would say, I prepared Salah, and Siyam,
and Zakah, and all these other good deeds,
in repentance from how I behaved that day.
Because I couldn't see long term the way
the Prophet SAW was able to see that
long term.
That's why at the end of that page,
he says, لِتُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ وَتُعَزِّرُوهُ وَتُوَقِّرُوهُ
وَتُسَبِّحُوهُ بُكْرَةً وَعَصِرًا Indeed, we have sent you,
Ya Muhammad, as an example for people to
learn from you, for people to draw parallels
to you, to hold themselves up against your
example and see how they're doing.
And we sent you to bring good news
of great things to come, and to warn
of punishment for those who don't listen.
In order for people to believe in Allah
and to believe in His Prophet, and to
revere Allah SWT and to respect Allah SWT
and to exalt Allah SWT.
That's what the ayat are saying.

Omar ibn al-Khattab would go and say
this and that, and he would try to
gather people to reject peace.
Then, when the Surah was revealed, he said,
O Messenger of Allah, is this a victory?
He said, Yes, O Omar.
Then, when the number of Muslims increased in
these two years, and people were blessed with
peace, Omar ibn al-Khattab said to the
Prophet, peace be upon him, Your opinion is
without opinion.
Do you know, O Messenger of Allah?
I don't know.
I don't have a long-term view.
He didn't have a long-term view of
the Prophet, peace be upon him.
But this is the important meaning.
The issue takes time.
And sometimes the Prophet, peace be upon him,
would follow.
And what you hate happens.
You don't know that what you hate is
a success.
There is more.
Perhaps you hate something and it is better
for you.
This is an important meaning.
This is a preface to the opening.
He said, We have sent you as a
witness, a bearer of glad tidings, and a
warner, so that you may believe in Allah
and His Messenger, and glorify him and honour
him, and glorify him tomorrow and the day
after.
The Prophet, peace be upon him, sent us
as a witness.
A witness and an example.
So that we can compare ourselves to him.
If we wanted to know whether we were
on the right path or not, we would
compare ourselves to the Prophet, peace be upon
him.
This gives us glad tidings of good and
warns us from the torment of Allah, peace
be upon him.
The part after that, Allah, peace be upon
him, starts pointing out the actions of the
Sahaba.
There is no Surah in the Quran where
Allah, peace be upon him, compliments the Sahaba
as much as Surah Al-Fatihah.

Indeed, the ones who were pledging with you,
because as I told you, when Uthman was
sent in and didn't come back, and the
rumour of him dying or being killed was
spread, the Prophet, peace be upon him, under
a known tree in the area, he asked
the Sahaba who had not come for war
to pledge with him that they would fight
with him to avenge Uthman if needed, and
they did.
So Allah, peace be upon him, pointed out
that day.
The people who pledged with you under the
tree, they are putting their hands in your
hands, but Allah's, peace be upon him, hand
is above all of your hands.
Meaning Allah, peace be upon him, is pledging
with you.
And this is something that was not offered
to anyone else historically in the Seerah of
the Prophet, peace be upon him, or in
the stories of the Prophets before him.
And it's almost commenting on what Surah Al
-Muhammad talked about.
Surah Al-Muhammad talked about combat.
If you truly believe, then if you're asked
to give your life, then you should be
okay with that.
And Surah Al-Fatihah gave us an example
of those who did, so that we know
that we do have examples of people who
lived with him, peace be upon him, followed
him properly, and actually came through.
They came through with what he asked them,
peace be upon them, so that we don't
look at his life, peace be upon him,
as a great example, but a great individual
example where we know there were followers who
did exactly what the Surahs said that they
should do.
And Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, pointed that
out for them.
In the verse that follows this, Allah, subhanahu
wa ta'ala, says, "...Indeed, those who pledge
allegiance to Allah, those who pledge allegiance to
the Prophet, peace be upon him, under the
tree, when the Prophet, peace be upon him,
sent Uthman to Mecca, to Quraish, to negotiate
with them, then he did not return, and
there came out a rumour that he was
killed, so the people pledged allegiance to him,
peace be upon him, under the tree, to
fight with him as an enemy to Uthman."
This injustice is unacceptable.
The Companions were not prepared for war, but
they pledged allegiance to him, peace be upon
him.
This is a confirmation of the meaning of
the Surah of Muhammad.
To fight.
If he asked you to do this, you
should be prepared.
You see, they did not fight.
Uthman came out safe.
But this pledge of allegiance is great.
He says, "...Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to
you are those who pledge allegiance to Allah.
The hand of Allah is above his hand."
A great meaning.
This honor was not granted to anyone from
the Companions, and it was not granted to
any of the stories of the Prophets, except
for those who pledged allegiance to the Prophet,
peace be upon him.
The important meaning is to follow the Prophet,
peace be upon him.
There are those who followed him, and there
are those who were rewarded for following him.
For example, the Surah Al-Fatihah gives us
examples so that we learn.
The Surah Al-Fatihah contains more than the
Surah of Muhammad.
Because the Surah is not for the Prophet,
peace be upon him.
It is for us to learn.
It is a matter that takes time.
For them, it was a matter of desire
for reconciliation.
For Allah, it was a victory.
But their eyes were short of that on
that day.
The Surah continues.
And it comes to the point where Allah
says, لَقَدْ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذْ يُبَايِعُونَكَ
تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةَ فَعَلِمَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ فَأَنزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ
عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَثَابَهُمْ فَتْحًا قَرِيبًا It says, indeed Allah
Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la is satisfied
with those who pledged with you under the
tree.
And He knew what was in their hearts.
Even though they didn't fight, there was no
war.
They didn't have to fight.
If Muhammad came out, he was fine.
But the fact that they were ready, they
accepted and they pledged to fight with him,
is all Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A
'la wanted to know or to prove to
them.
And for them to be able to prove
to themselves that they would do it.
Allah knew what was in their hearts, that
they were honest and truthful about that pledge.
You'll find in Surah Al-Fatah, the concept
of Sakina repeated.
Here, فَعَلَيْهِمَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ Allah knew what
was in their hearts.
فَأَنزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ And offered them tranquility and
serenity.
If you go to the beginning of the
Surah, هُوَ الَّذِي أَنزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ
لِيَزْدَادُوا إِيمَانًا مَعَ إِيمَانِهِمْ At the beginning of
the Surah, the first few verses, Allah Subh
'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la, He is the
one who descended tranquility and serenity in the
hearts of the believers.
The first thing you get when you follow
Him, salAllahu alayhi wa sallam, The most important
thing you get when you follow Him, salAllahu
alayhi wa sallam, You get serenity and tranquility.
And this is priceless.
This is priceless.
For you to be given سَكِينَة For you
to go through life, no matter how high
the waves, And no matter how vicious the
storm, You still find tranquility and serenity in
your heart.
You still know that Allah Subh'anaHu Wa
Ta-A'la is watching.
You know that you're doing the right thing
and you're down the right path.
No matter how bad this gets, Allah Subh
'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la is with you.
And if you have to go through something
that is extremely difficult, Then you have the
ability to persevere and stand your ground.
That is what سَكِينَة is.
سَكِينَة has nothing to do with things always
working in your favor.
It doesn't mean Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta
-A'la will make sure that nothing difficult
comes your way.
That's not what سَكِينَة means.
سَكِينَة means that you have a profound understanding
of the world around you.
To the point where no matter how difficult
it gets, you're going to be okay.
You know that you're doing the right thing.
You have certainty in that.
And that offers you a certain level of
calmness.
You'll find سَكِينَة a third time.
We'll talk about it in a moment.
It's repeated.
You can't ignore the amount of time that
this word is repeated.
Because it's teaching us.
Here are the people who followed him and
here's what they got.
And so Muhammad scared us a little bit
at the end of it and said, If
you don't follow, nothing is going to be
accepted and nothing will work.
And if you don't follow, he will replace
you.
Surah Al-Fatah, he balanced out that difficulty.
Gave us a brighter picture for us to
look at.
The Sahaba who followed the one.
In the second page of Surah Al-Fatah,
you'll find Allah SWT talking about العراب.
العراب is a word that's used to talk
about the Bedouins of Arabia.
Who commonly never, or historically, they never really
believed in him, عليه الصلاة والسلام, at least
properly.
And you'll find that the verses are talking
about them.
Every time he asked them to stand by
him and to join, They'll say, شغلتنا أموالنا
وأهلونا فاشتغفر لنا يقولون بأفواههم ما ليس في
قلوبهم We can't.
We have too much work.
We have problems to deal with.
We can't come with you.
But they're lying.
They can't.
They just don't want to.
The reason they don't want to is because
they didn't think the Prophet SAW and the
Sahaba were going to come back alive from
this trip.
When they went for Umrah, the Arabs said,
yeah, they're going to die.
Quraysh is going to kill all of them.
So when the Prophet SAW said, come with
us to Umrah, no.
بَلْظَلَنْتُمْ أَلَّيَّنْ قَلِبَ الرَّسُولُ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِمْ
أَبَدًا وَزُيِّنَ ذَلِكَ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ وَظَلَنْتُمْ وَنَّسَّوْا وَكُنْتُمْ
قَوْمًا بُورًا But when there was loot or
bounty, إِذَا أَنْ طَلَقْتُمْ إِلَىٰ مَغَانِي مَنْ يَتَأْخُذُوهَا
نَرُونَ نَتَّبِعْكُمْ They want to be there.
They want to be there only for the
good times.
The Arabs in this surah are giving the
example of those who just want to be
there when things are good.
They're not willing to be there when it's
difficult.
It's not always going to be easy.
As a Muslim, as a Mu'min, as a
part of a Muslim Ummah, it's not always
going to be easy.
It's not always going to work out.
There are going to be very difficult times.
Are you going to be there when it's
hard?
When it's dark?
When it matters?
Obviously you can be there when it's easy.
When it's all sunshine and rainbows.
Of course everyone can join at that point.
But are you able to stand your ground
when it's not?
When it's extremely difficult to be a Muslim?
That's when it really matters and counts.
My younger brothers and sisters will go to
school and have to put up with the
fact that people look at them differently because
they're Muslim.
That's how you prove that you truly follow
Him, subhanAllah.
That's what's going to matter to you in
your life when you grow up.
You're going to look back at that and
feel proud of it and strong.
That you stood your ground, you held on
to your deen, you didn't cave in.
It's easy to be a Muslim when everyone
around you is Muslim.
But it's not when you're surrounded by people
who aren't and look at you different and
think about you differently.
It's hard, but it's worth it because that's
what it means.
The Arabs, they only wanted to be there
for the easy times.
They weren't willing to be under the tree
with the Sahaba making the pledge.
I'll continue with the verses.
In a very great verse, Allah says, لَقَدْ
رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ As the Egyptians say,
يَا بَخْتُهُمْ لَقَدْ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ إِذْ
يُبَايِعُونَكَ تَحْتَى الشَّجَرَةَ فَعَلِمَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ This
is what the Prophet, peace and blessings be
upon him, pledged.
He didn't fight and he didn't die.
لَكِنَّهُمْ بَايَعُوا عَلَى الْمَوْتِ وَعَلِمَ اللَّهُ مَا فِي
قُلُوبِهِمْ وَرَضِيَ عَنْهُمْ How beautiful this is.
In Surah Al-Fatihah, Allah says, تُرِينَ الَّذِينَ
اتَّبَعُوا النَّبِيَّ صَلَى اللَّهَ يَسَلِمُ مَا أُوتُوا مَا
أُوتُوا فَعَلِمَ مَا فِي قُلُوبِهِمْ فَأَنزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ
In Surah Al-Fatihah, Allah says, أَنزَلَ السَّكِينَةَ
فِي قُلُوبِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ لِيَزْدَادُوا إِمَانًا مَعَ إِيمَانِهِمْ And
now He sent down tranquility upon them.
And again, before the end of Surah Al
-Fatihah, there is a repetition to send down
tranquility.
أَوَّلْ مَا تَنَالُهُ إِذَا اتَّبَعْتَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَى اللَّهُ
وَعَلَيْهِمْ The first thing you get when you
follow the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon
him, is tranquility.
This is the great ability to deal with
the ups and downs of life.
With the changes that you can't estimate, and
you can't know what they are or how
they are.
This fear and ignorance that we all have
in this life, which the Prophet, peace and
blessings be upon him, truly follows, Allah sends
down tranquility upon him.
This does not mean that he will not
be tested.
This does not mean that he will not
go through difficult tests and dark days.
Rather, he will go through them, according to
those who think that people should be left
alone and say, We believe, and they are
not tested.
Rather, people are more likely to be tested.
The Prophets, then the righteous, then the exemplary,
then the exemplary.
But this is what the Prophet, peace and
blessings be upon him, truly follows.
His heart is filled with tranquility.
Knowing that he is on the right path.
That Allah does not waste him.
He does not waste his reward, neither in
this world nor in the Hereafter.
And that if he is tested, he is
severely tested.
Then he dies and loses what he has.
Allah, the Exalted, will reward him better than
that.
And the Hereafter is better and more lasting.
Tranquility does not mean that Allah, the Exalted,
does not test you, nor do you go
through difficulties.
No, never.
Rather, the meaning is that you are able
to overcome these obstacles.
In Surah Al-Fatihah, it is mentioned about
the Arabs.
What is the problem with these Arabs?
They only want to be with the Prophet,
peace and blessings be upon him, in the
easy days.
They have no interest in the difficult days.
So if they are told, come to Umrah.
They say, our money and our family are
busy, so ask for forgiveness for us.
They say with their mouths what is not
in their hearts.
Why?
They say, in themselves, most of the people
in Quraish kill them all.
We go out with them and we kill
each other.
Rather, you thought that the Messenger and the
believers would never return to their families.
But when he spoke to the sheep, he
said, leave us to follow you.
They want to change the words of Allah.
They are afraid.
They follow in the easy hour and retreat
in the difficult hour.
Say, you will not follow us.
Allah said the same before.
An important meaning.
Then when you continue the Surah, you find
Allah, the Exalted, telling the believers what He
promised them.
وَوَعَدَكُمُ اللَّهُ مَغَانِمَ كَثِيرًا تَأْخُذُونَهَا فَعَجَّلَ لَكُمْ هَذِهِ
وَكَفَّ إِيدِيَ النَّاسِ عَنْكُمْ وَلِتَكُونَ آيَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ صِرَاطًا مُسْتَقِيمًا وَأُخْرَىٰ لَمْ تَقْدِرُوا عَلَيْهَا قَدْ
أَحَاطُوا اللَّهُ بِهَا Allah has promised you a
lot of loot and a lot of bounty.
And He gave you this up front, this
sulh, that you may not think is important
but you'll see later.
And other things that you don't even think
about.
There are things that are coming that you
didn't think.
None of them at that point imagined that
one day they would conquer Hunayn.
Conquer, sorry, Taqif and Hawazin.
And that they would be victorious in the
battle of Hunayn.
Taqif and Hawazin, two of the biggest tribes
in the land.
They were in Taqif.
No one can touch them.
They never imagined that they would take the
bounty and the loot from that battle.
Things that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala had
hidden for them.
At the end of that paragraph in the
surah, سُنَّةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي قَدْ خَلَتْ مُنْ قَبْلٍ
This is the sunnah of Allah.
These are the laws of Allah.
You stand your ground, you're there for the
difficult times, and things will eventually work out.
It won't happen immediately, but it will eventually
work out.
It will take time, but it will work
out.
Maybe not even in your lifetime, but it
will.
And that's what surah Al-Fatihah starts to
explain.
Calling the treaty of Hudaybiyyah a fatihah, even
though no one could see it as a
fatihah, it took two years before they actually
conquered Mecca.
Two years, that's the simple time that Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala is giving us in
this example.
As the ayat continue, it talks about the
disbelievers who refused to allow the Prophet ﷺ
and the Sahaba enter Mecca.
إِذْ جَعَلَ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي قُلُوبِهِمُ الْحَمِيَّةَ حَمِيَّةَ
الْجَاهِرِيَّةَ فَأَنزَلَ اللَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِ وَعَلَىٰ
الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَأَلْزَمَهُمْ كَنِبَةَ التَّقْوَى وَكَانُوا أَحَقَّ بِهَا
وَأَهْدَهَا وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عَلِيمًا As the
disbelievers filled their hearts with racism, with bigotry,
with hatred, الحمية, that's what it is.
When you become hateful towards a certain group,
when you generalize towards them, even though what
you're saying is not necessarily correct, for reasons
that are personal, that aren't validated.
And that's what حمية is in the Qur
'an.
حمية الجاهلية, and this is from جاهلية.
Now what can happen on the other side
is that the other group can get filled
with their حمية, but they didn't.
Why?
Because Allah سبحانه وتعالى descended His سكينة upon
the Prophet and the believers.
And they held on to the concept of
تقوى, and they were worthy of the concept
of تقوى.
When someone comes and condescends towards you, and
then says, I'm from this country, you're from
that country, that's why you're worthless.
He's using his حمية, pushing you to use
your حمية, and to cause this ugly scene
of نتانة, of disgusting racism that should never
happen.
In this example, Allah سبحانه وتعالى is saying,
you follow the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم,
and when one group shows their racism and
their حمية, you don't.
You don't, you hold on to تقوى.
Because you have serenity and tranquility, you have
that calmness, that proper understanding of the deen.
You know that Allah سبحانه وتعالى knows that
His creations are all equal, and that what
these people are saying is all incorrect, and
that they're just trying to pull you down
to something that is beneath you.
You follow him صلى الله عليه وسلم, you
realize these things.
And then the ayahs after that would give
the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that promise.
لقد صدق الله رسوله رؤيا بالحق لتدخلن من
مسجد الحرام إن شاء الله آمينين محلقين رؤوسكم
ومقصرين لا تخافون Three promises in one ayah.
You're going to enter the مسجد الحرام, and
you're going to cut your hair and shave
your head there, and you're not going to
be in fear of anyone coming.
All of these bounties that the Sahaba are
being offered for following him صلى الله عليه
وسلم.
But here's the thing, Surah Al-Hadaybi and
Fatiha Makkah were in the 6th and 8th
year of Hijrah.
That is 20 years after the day he
was sent and given his prophecy صلى الله
عليه وسلم.
20 years.
It takes time.
During these 20 years the Sahaba who accepted
Islam and died, they didn't live to see
this moment.
That's how it is.
If you're going to follow him صلى الله
عليه وسلم, you're promised Allah, but you may
not see it in your lifetime.
It's going to take time, but the bounties
are there.
They'll never change.
And Surah Al-Fatiha is an example of
that.
Of those who stood by the Prophet صلى
الله عليه وسلم, the love Allah showed them,
the bounties he gave them, starting with Sakina,
starting with just a little bit of tranquility
and serenity, ending with Fatiha, ending with conquering
Makkah, and everything in between.
Guidance and forgiveness.
If you go through the Surah, you'll find
all these concepts.
If it wasn't for time, I would love
to break it all down for you.
At the end of that last page, he
said, هو الذي أرسل رسوله بالهدى ودين الحق
ليظهره على الدين كله Indeed he sent his
Prophet with guidance and the religion of truthfulness
and truth, so that it may conquer all
religion, may be the higher of all religion.
He was given another promise.
That your faith will one day be the
highest, be the strongest.
You'll have an empire that was unparalleled historically.
Starts with Sakina and ends with يظهره على
الدين كله سبحانه وتعالى يعيد الصحابة الذين بايعوا
تحت الشجرة بوعود كثيرة مغانما كثيرة تأخذونها وكفأيدي
الناس عنكم وأخرى لم تقدروا عليها يرين الله
سبحانه وتعالى الذين يتبعون النبي صلى الله عليه
وسلم أمثل هؤلاء رضي الله عنهم ثم أعطاهم
أمور كثيرة الأمر استغرق وقتاً يصر الحديد وفتح
مكة في السنوات السادسة والثامنة للهجرة هذه عشرين
عاماً بعد بعثته عليه الصلاة والسلام استغرق الأمر
وقتاً من الصحابة من مات قبل أن يروا
هذه اللحظات لكن إذا اتبعته عليه الصلاة والسلام
اعلم أن الله يرضى عنك وأنه يعطيك ويحذيك
كما أعطاهم واحداهم حتى لو لم تر ذلك
بعينيك في حياتك حتى لو استغرق ذلك وقتاً
طويلاً لكنه يحصل يبدأ بالسكينة ينتئي بالفتح ثم
ينتهي هو الذي أرسل رسوله بالهدى ودين الحق
ليظهره أول مرة الصحابة يسمعوا هذا الكلام ليظهره
على الدين كله سيظهر هذا الدين على كل
الأديان هذا كله من عطاءات الله للمسلمين من
الذين يتبعون النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم كما
أعطى الصحابة يعطينا لكن هل نحن قادرون أن
نكون مثل الصحابة؟
إذ جعل الذين كفروا في قلوبهم الحمية حمية
الجاهلية فأنزل الله سكينته على رسولها وللمؤمنين وألزمهم
كلمة التقوى وكانوا أحق بها وأهلها ولا لما
تعلوا الحمية في قلبي يعني عدوك تعلوا الحمية
حمية الجاهلية في قلبك ودعوها فإنها منتنة ولا
تلتزم كلمة التقوى كما أمرك صلى الله عليه
وسلم شوف أنزل الله سكينته مرة أخرى ثلاث
مرات على قلبك سكينة أول ما تعطى هذا
العطاء الإلهي والعظيم أن تعطى السكينة سأنتهي بسرعة
قبل ذلك الفتح محمد رسول الله محمد صلى
الله عليه وسلم رسول الله والذين معه أشداء
على الكفار رحماء بينهم تراهم ركعا سجدا يبتغون
فضلا من الله ورموانا سيماهم في وجوههم من
أثر السجود ذلك مثلهم في التورة and those
who stand by him again, we're being given
the examples of those who stood by the
Prophet they stand firmly against those who oppose
and those who are oppressive and they show
compassion to one another and you see the
effect of their sujood and ruku' and their
faces that's what the Torah says about them
ومثلهم في الإنجيل here's the point where things
take time ومثلهم في الإنجيل كزرع أخرج شطاه
فآزره فاستغلب فاستوى على سوقه يعجب الزرع in
Injil their example is like a plant that
you put in the ground it takes time
for it to grow and to have branches
and become strong and become sturdy it takes
time it's going to take time it's not
going to happen all at once it's going
to be a journey it'll be ups and
downs it'll take a while for this to
all work out but it will eventually work
out why?
because the last ayah in the last part
of that verse وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَعْمِدُوا
الصَّالِحَاتِ مِنْهُم مَّغْفِرَةً وَأَجَرًا أَوْمِنُوا يُبْنِ we have
been promised by him if we follow we've
been given an example in Surah Al-Fatihah
of those who followed and the bounties that
they got I will end with that Inshallah
