AI: Summary ©
The importance of having multiple witnessing moments to gain faith in reality is emphasized, along with the misoffering act of death. The natural and natural cycle of life is discussed, including the birth and death of life through actions and events. The importance of acceptance and guidance for life beyond death is also emphasized. The "vanity of" death can lead to fear and confusion, and the "vanity of" death can lead to confusion and fear.

Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest,
Allah is the Greatest.
I bear witness that there is no god
but Allah.
I bear witness that there is no god
but Allah.
I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger
of Allah.
I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger
of Allah.
Come to prayer.
Come to success.
Prayer is better than sleep.
Prayer is better than sleep.
Allah is the
Greatest, Allah is the Greatest.
I bear witness that there is no god
but Allah.
I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger
of Allah.
Come to prayer.
Come to success.
Prayer is better than sleep.
Allah is the Greatest.
There is no god but Allah.
Astaghfirullah.
And if you could see when the criminals
bowed their heads before their Lord our Lord,
we saw and heard.
So we returned.
So we returned to do good.
Indeed, we are certain.
And if We willed, We could have given
every soul its guidance.
But the Word was true of Me.
I will surely fill * with jinn and
men all together.
So taste what you forgot, the meeting of
this Day of yours.
Indeed, We forgot you, and taste the eternal
punishment for what you used to do.
Only those believe in Our signs who, when
they are reminded of them, fall down in
prostration and glorify the praise of their Lord,
and they are not arrogant.
Allah is the Greatest.
Their sides turn away from their beds, calling
their Lord in fear and hope, and from
what We have provided them they spend.
So no soul knows what is hidden for
them from the pleasure of their eyes as
a reward for what they used to do.
Allah hears those who praise Him.
Allah is the Greatest.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of
the worlds.
The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
It is You we worship and You we
ask for help.
Guide us to the straight path.
The path of those on whom You have
bestowed Your Grace, not of those who have
incurred Your Wrath, nor of those who have
gone astray.
Allah hears
those who praise Him.
No one should ever hope or wish for
death.
Either you are doing well, so you will
just continue to do well and do better.
Or if you are not, then maybe you
have a chance to turn things around and
do well.
In another new riwayah for the same hadith,
it says, If you are going to do
it, say this, O Allah, grant
me life, extend my life, as long as
my life is khayr for me.
And take me to You whenever it is
no longer khayr for me.
Whenever death is better for me than living.
Is death the ultimate enemy for all of
us?
And the answer, even from a religious perspective,
is probably true.
The Qur'an at least acknowledges that.
When the Qur'an describes death,
Meaning that you are going to be
hit by the ultimate misfortune, which is death.
That is how it is described in the
Qur'an, that it is a misfortune, it
is a musiba.
It is horrible, because the moment you die,
As he said, if you were doing well,
you lost the chance to continue to do
well and be better.
Draw yourself closer to Allah.
If you weren't, that is even worse.
If you die and you weren't doing well,
that is horrible, Because at least when you
were alive, no matter how badly you were
doing, You still had the chance at any
moment to turn back to Allah and be
accepted.
So this is definitely the worst thing that
could have happened.
There is a known,
we'll talk about it insha'Allah soon, But
For each and every one of
us is our death.
Meaning, our personal qiyamah, our personal day of
judgment, is the day that you die.
There is a general qiyamah for everyone.
So when you hear a lot about shalat
al-sa'a and the qiyamah coming, Really,
that is a lot of abstract knowledge about
things that we may see in our lives,
we may not see in our lives.
But your qiyamah and my qiyamah is the
day that we die.
And the goal of talking about this, and
you choosing this series for this month, Is
that I really think it's important that we
familiarize ourselves with this concept.
And we grow a certain degree of comfort
with understanding that this is on its way,
it's going to happen.
And I think if you become comfortable with
it, then you're more likely to prepare for
it properly.
And if you prepare for it properly, then
it will be a transition that is much
more acceptable.
All you have to do is really just
do this, try this today or some day
during Ramadan.
Imagine that it is your final day.
Just for the sake of doing it, a
lot of the salihin in the past used
to do it.
He had a bed, maybe like a farsha
like this or something, maybe a little bit
higher.
And then he would push it close to
the wall.
And then he would turn off the lights
and he would lie between his bed and
the wall.
And he would imagine himself dead.
And he would speak to himself.
Ya Rabia, you've died.
And the time of
acting and working is no longer upon you.
And he starts talking
to himself.
And he talks to himself, reminding himself of
what happens afterwards.
He grows more and more uncertain and more
and more afraid.
And then he gets up and says,
Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta
-A'la has given you another chance.
What will you do with
it?
Imagine that it's your last day.
That you're going to pass away in the
morning.
And Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la
grants you long lives with khair.
But imagine that and then think
what would you do that day?
What is it that you're not doing today
that you would have done if you knew
that this was your last day?
What would you say to your loved ones?
What relationships would you rekindle and regret that
have been dead for a long time?
Who would you speak to?
What would you say?
And how would you pray that day?
And how would you fast that day?
And the funny thing is you have no
reason not to believe that today isn't your
last day.
You literally have no reason to believe that
tomorrow is coming.
We just don't because we don't know.
He says Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la
Everything is going
to die except Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta
-A'la.
Nothing is going to stay.
He says the Prophet ﷺ
never made a human being before you.
We never granted a human being before you
immortality.
If you die, they think they're going to
live forever.
No one's going to live forever.
If the Habib ﷺ passes away.
I think that's enough of an Ibra for
all of us.
If the Prophet ﷺ with his status in
the eyes of Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta
-A'la died, didn't live forever, didn't live
a couple of thousand years at least, then
why is it we think that we are
entitled to anything more than what he got
as a deal.
He says Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la
in an extremely important monumental verse of the
He's the one who created death.
He created death first.
And life.
Death was the first thing.
Death existed before life existed.
It is the أصل.
It is the origin of everything.
There's nothing there.
There is no life besides the life of
Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la.
alive.
Everything that is granted life is granted life
through his will جل جلاله.
Before that is death and after is death.
It is the أصل.
It is the neutral, normal state for things
not to have life.
As he said, as Ibn Abbas said in
You're the one who lives on, sustains your
life on your own.
All other creations die.
It's just the mu'min when
they die, they're given the good news of
what is coming next of the forgiveness and
the pleasure of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
and the reward of Allah.
So they can't wait, they're looking forward to
meet Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And the
disbeliever is told what's coming next is worse.
What's coming next is very difficult, so they
don't want to do that, so they don't
want to meet God because they know when
they meet Him, this is what's going to
happen next.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala doesn't want
to meet them either.
The Prophet ﷺ's wife, one day said,
She's making du'a, and this is
a du'a you make if you want
to live with, if you want Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala to grant someone a long
life, this is the du'a that you're
supposed to make.
Grant me the pleasure of being
in someone's company for as long as possible.
So she's saying, ya Allah grant me the
pleasure of being in the company of my
husband, رسول الله ﷺ, and my father and
my brother.
He said, you asked
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala indeed for times
that are limited, for portions that are decreed,
for sustenance that has been already decided long
time ago.
No one will leave before their time, no
one will leave after their time.
If you asked Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
to seek to grant you refuge from the
punishment of the grave and the punishment of
Yawm al-Qiyamah, it would have been better
for you.
There's more benefit in making that to Allah.
That Jibreel came to the Prophet
ﷺ once and told him, O Muhammad, live
as long as you like, you're going to
die.
And love whomever you want, you will leave
them.
And do whatever you want, you are going
to be held accountable for it ﷺ.
And know that your sharaf, your integrity is
qiyam al-layl.
And that your high status is only found
through the fact that you don't need others.
That you're not looking and
not asking for others' approval ﷺ.
It's narrated that Umar ibn Abd al-Aziz,
the known khalifa, went in a janazah once
with the Muslims.
And after the janazah, he stood.
And he said a few words about the
grave, and then he gave a long maw
'idah.
I actually used to know it by heart,
and just now I'm realizing that I don't
remember it in detail anymore.
So I'll tell you pieces of it, but
I can't remember the whole thing.
It's a very long one, it's a very
beautiful, beautiful maw'idah that he gave.
And he stood up and he said, أَلَا
He said, oh indeed, the dunya,
no matter how long it lasts, it's never
enough.
It's never enough, it's short.
No matter how long you live.
Wallahi, you could live a thousand years.
Right at the end, it feels like nothing.
Right at the end, it just feels like
it was nothing.
It doesn't change, by the way.
If you're young and you feel like it's
too early.
If you're hearing this and it's too early,
it's too early.
What do you think, if you're 70, it's
going to feel like it's just right?
You think at 70, you'll know this is
exactly the time?
No.
It's always going to feel early.
Unless you're extremely ill and you're tired of
life, as Zuhayr ibn Masud said, وَمَن يَعِشْ
People who get bored
of life and they're tired because they're ill
and it's too difficult.
But besides that, you'll never feel that it's
time.
It's just a psychological acceptance.
Similar to the psychological acceptance you have during
the day of Ramadan when you don't eat.
It's something to think about because you don't
feel the need for it during Ramadan as
much.
You seem to be fine.
If you're not fasting, you get upset and
you get quite uptight.
You start shaking if you don't get your
coffee.
But during Ramadan, you seem to be fine.
It's a psychological acceptance of something.
Death is one of those things.
If you accept it, then you're much more
likely to deal with it properly.
And the one who
has high status will one day lose that
status and be humbled.
And the one who is wealthy in it
will one day lose his wealth.
And the one who is young will one
day not be young anymore.
And those who are alive will one day
cease to live as well.
So don't be fooled by how quickly it's
coming to you, dunya.
How quickly it is throwing all of its
goods at you.
Because you know that quickly it will take
it all away.
And the fooled one truly is the one
who is fooled by it.
And then he would go into a long
tangent about the grave speaking to him.
I'll tell you the last piece.
Or speaking to Muslims.
Then he takes the last piece and he
imagines death speaking to himself.
And he says,
فِي مَحَلِّ الْمَوْتَى He said, لَيْتَ شِعْرِي means
oh my goodness.
How are you going to take lying on
the solid ground in the qabr, not on
your bed in a nice little well-made
place for you where you're comfortable.
Oh my goodness, which of my cheeks will
disintegrate first?
Which eye will go first?
Oh the one, he's speaking to himself, who
spent his life in sin, now you're with
the dead.
Oh my goodness, what is the
angel of death going to tell me tomorrow
when he comes to take my life?
What message will he bring to me from
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala?
And then he began to
cry.
When he died that
week.
Three
things make me laugh and three things make
me cry.
So I laughed
at the person who was planning for years
and years and death is waiting just at
the door.
He's not even leaving the room that he's
in.
He will not finish that day.
And he's planning for الله أعلم what he's
And someone who is oblivient of
a reality but the reality is not oblivient
of him.
And someone who is laughing so hard, so
loudly but has no idea whether what they're
doing is pleasing Allah سُبْحَانَهُ or not.
Three things make me cry.
Makes me cry to
remember losing the Prophet
and the people who were similar to him,
who lived like him.
And the extremely
scary, uncertain future when death comes upon you.
the moment where I stand in front of
Allah سبحانه وتعالى and everything is exposed I
don't know which way I'm going.
Starting Monday, Inshallah we will begin the journey
together.
We will start walking down the road of
while it all occurs, what happens?
I think a couple of days of preparation
of حُسْنُ وَسُوءِ الْخَاتِيمَةِ and the concept of
death is more than enough.
We begin the journey and we walk down
this path that whether you walk it with
me now or not doesn't make a difference.
You're going to walk this path as will
I.
As everyone will.
There's no way around it.
But I think if you know what's coming
in detail maybe that helps.
Maybe that helps a bit for in terms
of preparation for it.
And we'll start, Inshallah, what we will start
عنه in the collection of Imam Ahmed.
And it's a hadith that's worth your time
to read even in the meantime until we
start reciting it on Monday.
And we'll walk through the stages of how
you...
We'll walk through death and we'll talk about
بَرْزَخْ and we'll talk about يوم القيامة and
we'll go through each moment within يوم القيامة
the way the Qur'an breaks it down
into sections that will occur.
Inshallah, for whatever time we have left during
the month.
I hope that was beneficial.
