Adnan Rajeh – Appreciating Hajj #05
AI: Summary ©
The speaker discusses a long hadith in a collection of Bukhari that describes a story of the couple's struggles and how they eventually found their father. The story involves a man named Hilton who recounts a story of a man namedugging the same words as the one who recounts the story. The speaker suggests that the story is a real effort of a father and son to establish a house and reestablish it if the older generation and younger generation do not work together.

The hadith tonight is a is a piece
of the hadith that I narrated yesterday,
and I'll narrate tomorrow. It's a long hadith
in the collection of Bukhari where Ibn Abbas
talks about,
the story of Ibrahim Al Khalil and his
wife and Ishmael,
and what occurred throughout their, their lives and
the the the struggles. So there's a lot.
The hadith is very long. It's a it's
a couple of pages. So I'm just choosing
pieces that are relate relate to Hajj in
different ways.
Today
yesterday, I talked about the piece where Hajj
alaihi salam would walk between them, and she
was told
when Ismail was still an infant that one
day he will rebuild
he will build the Kaaba. So the today,
the part is a little bit farther down
into the story. So I'll just start from
where he began. And this was in the
theory within the series of appreciation of Hajj
or in preparation for Hajj. So he said
where Ismaelu
So he says and then Ibrahim came back
again. So Ibrahim had come before a few
times to visit Ismael, and he came again.
And this time, Ismael, he was
Ismail had married once and then divorced his
wife and then married again. And so this
is he's a man and he and he's,
you know, middle aged man. So he comes
and he finds it. It was Ismail sitting
down and
it. So it's a little bit of a
a shaded area close to Zamzam where he
is,
And Nabal is basically arrows, and he's fixing
some of his arrows. He's kind of fidgeting
with the arrows. So he sees him. So
Ishmael gets
up. So they go and they embrace one
another as a father embraces his son and
has a as a son will embrace their
father after not seeing them for a long
period of time.
Ibrahim.
Yeah. Ismael.
Now the reason he said that is because
the last time this happened, it wasn't a
very
pleasant command.
Like, the last time Ibrahim came and told
his son, I I was commanded by my
lord to do something.
Is the command was not pleasant at all
for either of them. And Ishmael said, do
what your lord commanded you. So this time,
Ibrahim came and the command was very pleasant,
but he did the same thing. He told
him, I was commanded to do something by
my lord. So Ishmael almost interrupts him. He
said,
whatever your lord commanded you to do, do
it.
Ibrahim would test his son to see if
he's Ismail is like, what? Again? No. No.
No. The first time around, we we got
through this. No.
Ibrahim.
And you help me. And
his parents said, yes. I will help you.
Help you.
Allah
has commanded me to rebuild a house here.
He pointed to a piece of land that
was a little bit higher than the rest
of the land that surrounded.
So it's made to bring the rocks and
Ibrahim started to build until they established
the foundation of the house and it started
to get a little bit higher.
So it's the apparently, the prophet alaihi saw
someone. He said this, he was standing right
beside Maqam Ibrahim.
And he pointed out that in in this
rock and the Maqam Ibrahim now is a
very small thing. It was a much it
was a large boulder
where you could you could basically roll it
and then stand on it to build on
something. That's what Ibrahim Ibrahim looked like. And
he stood on it for so long that
basically it was an indentation in the in
the rock from Ibrahim alaihis salaam's long hours
of standing looking at it, but it wasn't
as small as we see it today. It
was much bigger. But if,
he was brought that to stand.
So he's standing on it and his man
is giving him the rocks and he is
putting on on top.
So they built it and they would go
and do tawaf around it looking at all
the angles saying,
oh our lord, accept from us the effort
that we are putting. Indeed, you are the
all hearing and you're the omniscient. And that's
the wording in the Quran.
These are the words that, they would say.
And the prophet
would would quote that they would make this
dua as they were building the Kaaba. And
it's a beautiful aspect because it's not only
is the rebuilding of the Kaaba Yani, an
authentic moment in the history of our ummah,
but it's also an effort of a father
and a son.
It's an effort of 2 generations working together
to establish the house.
If you think about it symbolically for a
moment. Right? It's establishing a house
and it needs the older generation and it
needs the younger generation. And without the Yani,
the cooperation
and the collaboration of these 2 generations, you
cannot establish the house. The house cannot be
built rebuilt again. If the house today is
destroyed and brought to the ground, it will
not be rebuilt and reestablished if the older
generation and the younger one do not work
together to do that as as Ibrahim and
Ishmael did at a time where it needed
to be done. Hope that's a benefit to
you.
