And welcome again to another episode of your
weekly Islamic discussion show, Live by Islam.
And, we always discuss, alhamdulillah,
very important topics.
And today, we want to discuss
the ill effects
of the forbidden.
What are the bad effects that can happen
to us by being involved in things that
are haram, things that are forbidden? And so
many of us obviously fall into forbidden things.
So we also wanna discuss as well, insha'Allah,
as well as the ill effects. We wanna
discuss, insha'Allah, ways to,
stay away from falling into haram
and hopefully provide some solutions and remedies,
for those people. Because many of us fall
into haram, we kind of give up and
think I'm bad, I'm a sinner, I'll never
be a good Muslim, and just kind of
give up and go back to our bad
ways. So inshallah to do that with me
So this is a topic you actually felt
quite strongly about Yeah. The the ill effects
of haramun. And you're gonna obviously through throughout
this discussion, you're gonna mention some examples that
you've personally experienced of people who,
you know, left the the, the the doing
the haram things and it turned out better
for them.
First and foremost, I
just want to
touch
on some of the textual evidence that speak
about consuming
Haram, being involved in it. Because SubhanAllah, as
time goes on, the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
he told us
There doesn't come a time except that a
time that comes after is more worse. And
especially the way the world is moving and
how Fawahishan
and Fisk is becoming more apparent
in this world.
It is more easier for a person to
fall in these kind of things. And inshaAllah
ta'ala, we just want to stand over the
issue
of Alikhtisaab,
where a person, he earns wealth in maybe
a unlawful way. Messenger salallahu alaihi wa sallam,
he told us in another hadith.
There will come a time that a person,
he doesn't necessarily have any care
to where he earns his money from, whether
it's from halal or whether it is from,
haram.
So as you can see, that time, I'm
sure we,
can kind of relate to that. We are
in that kind of time where, you know,
to fall into haram, to earn haram money,
which is so easy to do, is just
becoming so widespread.
And there's so many ill effects in this
dunya. Likewise, in the,
Akhirah.
I know, subhanAllah,
there's so many people who are going through
a lot of issues in their lives.
Okay? They're going through difficulties,
financial problems,
and some of them have money, but because
they have other issues maybe with their kids,
and they put their hands up to Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, but they feel like that
there is no,
health assistance coming from Allah Subhanahu
and it doesn't require rocket science to understand
as to where the problem is and what
the solution is.
The the famous hadith that you could also
find in our Bayin in Nuwih,
where the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam gave us
an example
about a traveler.
A man who's traveling
and and we know when a person is
traveling his
clothes are going to get
very, maybe, dusty. If you see the traces
of,
of going through a journey on him.
This individual,
he puts his hands up to Allah
He says, You Rabb, You Rabb. Then look
what the messenger salallahu alayhi says,
His food is haram. His clothes is haram.
The haram he's been consuming, and then the
messenger says,
How does this person expect that he's going
to be responded back to when he's making
du'a to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala?
When he's been consuming haram?
His whole life was involved in haram.
It's interesting because even at that the description
of that man, he's actually a traveler. We
know that one of the best times for
your dua to to be accepted by Allah
is the dua of the traveler.
So even there Yeah.
It wouldn't be answered because of the fact
that you mentioned, you know, his income, his
food, everything, his clothing is haram. And subhanAllah,
it's not just necessarily the,
fact that he's a traveler, which is a
means of getting your dua accepted. If you
look closely the hadith, he had three means.
The as you mentioned,
he was a traveler, the hadith of the
messenger of Allah a'aihi wa sallam.
The messenger of Allah a'aihi wa sallam said,
3 types of supplications.
It will always be responded back to and
there's no doubt in it. And one of
them was,
the supplication of the one who's traveling.
What also he done was, he put his
hands up to Allah
We know through another narration the messenger Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam he said,
Allah is shy,
he's generous from when the servant puts his
hands up to Allah
that he sends him back empty handed.
So he was a traveler, he put his
hands up which is another means. And the
third one was, he said You Rabb, You
Rabb. If you look at the end of
Surat Al Imran,
where it says Rabbana Aatina, Rabbana Inna.
In the end what does it say?
They use
and then in the last page you find
Allah
responded,
back to them. So he had 3 means.
But because of the Haram that he was
consuming,
all of that was, you know, buried and
it wasn't
a means for his dua to get accepted,
even though SubhanAllah,
he was in dire need.
And, and, SubhanAllah, we see this today with,
you know, family members, parents whose kids
have driven them crazy, involved in drugs,
they're involved in all sorts of haram.
And the parent keeps making du'a, but the
response doesn't seem coming. And we have this
in in Britain. I don't know how common
it is here in, in Dubai and other
places as well.
Where it's very easy to cheat the government.
Lying to the government to claim that you're
single, and because of this, you get the
dollars. The Americans say all benefits.
So they claim they tell the government we're
single. We've got x amount of kids.
And they make the husband leave the home
just so they could get
more of an income.
And you're you're actually lying. You're not single.
You've got a husband, and
and it's something very common, and it doesn't
require rocket science to actually understand where the
problem
lies. And then not just in the dunya,
but then the akhir, the messenger of Salahi
Abu Sam said,
A piece of flesh that has been produced
through haram,
will not enter into Al Jannah.
The now, the hellfire has more of a
right
for this piece of flesh that was, you
know, produced through Al Haram. These are, insha'Allah,
you know, the in effects and
the effects that it has on a person
in this dunya and then likewise in the
akhirah. Not only does he suffer here, you
know, things don't get answered for him. And
then in the akhira, unfortunately, he enters into
that blazing
fire.
Now you mentioned you had some examples and
the the ayah that came to came to
mind was Umayyatakillahiyachaalhu
makhraraayim.
Whoever fears Allah, that he will make a
way out from them and will provide them,
you know, you know, abundantly or in a
way that they cannot even comprehend.
So with that verse in mind, I'm assuming
you're gonna be able to give us, from
what you mentioned to me earlier, some examples
of people who did. They had this taqwa
of Allah, they had this fear of Allah,
and there was this makhraja, this way out.
Because many a time people will say, you
know, look, if I give up this haram
thing,
you know,
it's it's my income or
she's my
love or it's my whatever it may be.
You don't have any other choice. Yeah. I
won't it it things just won't work out,
you know. I will lose this. I will
lose that. And then so many times we
actually find out that people did it for
the for the spirit of Allah
knowing it's wrong
that, you know, actually sometimes we hear stories
of
not only has it become better, it's become
better in so many ways, much more than
they would have imagined at the time when
you said to them, leave this thing alone.
Yeah. There's a hadith I'm going to mention,
inshallah. I was told many years ago that
I've always placed in between my,
eyes. But before I do that, these whispers
come from who? It's the Shaytan who's always
scaring the human beings,
with poverty
that, you know, that there's no other option.
They're going to suffer financially. They're going to
become bankrupt and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is
just going to abandon them.
I'm gonna mention something so powerful by the
great Imam Hassan al Basri the Tabi'i.
SubhanAllah, this beautiful statement that he mentioned where
he said
I read in 90 places that Allah
has decreed your provision.
And I read in one place that the
shaytan,
he scares the people with poverty. And he
was referring to the statement of Allah
The shaitaan, he scares you with poverty,
and he commands you to do fasha, unlawful
acts. And then he says,
We ended up leaving the statement
of the truthful one, Allah
all these 90 places.
And we ended up believing the statement of
the lion in this one place.
SubhanAllah.
I think that's really powerful and it should
be written with golden ink. Okay? And it
should really kind of make a person enthusiastic,
encouraged
about the situation that he's in.
Okay. Insha'Allah, I'm going to share the hadith
and then bring the practical examples.
This is hadith, subhanAllah, that is mentioned in,
that was narrated by Imam Ahmed
that,
now anytime something happens or, you know, I'm
I'm in a difficult predicament of what to
do,
It doesn't require me a lot of time
to actually make the decision simply because of
this hadith. And also, suddenly, it takes you
to see something before you actually okay. I
can do this straight away now without any
thought. The messenger salalahu alayhi wa sallam said,
You don't leave something out of taghwa.
No fear of Allahu Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Taghwa
is a more comprehensive.
And maybe later on we could cover,
you know, out of Taghwa. We don't live
something out of Taghwa except Allah Subhan will
always replace it with Allah, which is better.
Okay?
I knew this brother,
my neighbor, a very good friend of mine.
He's done Hajj with me a couple of
times through our
organization.
This brother, he was an accountant.
For years he's been doing, he's been in
this accounting industry.
And he came to know that what he
was doing was a form of Riba. Because
we know writing down Riba
is nothing different from actually giving or taking
as the messenger sallallahu alaihi wa sallam hadith
jabri said.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala curse the one who
gives you, the one who takes you,
the one who is a witness to it,
and the one who writes it down. Then
the messenger said, wamfi isawat. They are all
the same.
Okay?
And he knew this. And we know the
seriousness of what
Riva,
Ibraheem
says that it is the worst sin,
the biggest sin that a person can fall
into
below kufr, you know, disbelief.
Because of the statement of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala where he says
And if you don't leave of Riba, then
you have proclaimed war with Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
I'm sure nobody's got an army ready to
stand in front of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
and, you know, start that war
with Allah
Okay? It's a very serious thing. So he
knew that. He came and saw my adviser
and I told him this hadith. I told
him this hadith. I remember even his family
members, they were kinda looking down on him.
What is this guy doing at home? He's
got family. Why is he not looking after
them? And so on and so forth. And
you have to understand, when you do leave
someone for the sake of like, you're going
to be a child. You're gonna go through
a period where it's going to be quite
difficult.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala did say,
Does
one say think that he's going to say,
I believe, and then he won't be trialed?
You will be trialed.
Okay?
And once you're patient and you remain firm,
then that's when the perks and,
you know, the lovely things
come,
your way. So I told him this hadith,
and I said to him, I don't have
a shadow of a doubt. Why? Because
This is a promise of Allah, no one
will fail in His promise.
Okay? So time went on, went through a
difficulty.
Allah
blessed him with a beautiful job.
You know, most people that I know that
teach English in Saudi Arabia
are either teaches in Riyadh It's quite far
from the Haramain, Makkan, and Madinah. Some of
them are in Jidda. Some, you know, a
few in number. Very fortunate to be in
Madinah.
But I personally from the hundreds of weebas
that I know teaching English in,
in Saudi Arabia.
Barely any of them are in Mecca.
Okay? So
Allah blessed him
and his wife, not only him. Him and
his wife, both, they were getting 21,000
pounds.
And in Saudi Arabia, we don't have something
called tax.
Okay? Okay. They had a house.
Every day they can go to the haram.
They had they were given a car. And
I think for the first 6 months, they
were just getting paid doing absolutely nothing.
And I personally believe with full conviction
that this happened
simply because
of the fact that
the magnitude of what they left behind.
You know, and I can sit here maybe
for another 10 episodes tell you of how
many
stories, experiences I've had with brothers who I
personally gave this hadith to. And they left
the haram they were doing, and Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala gave them far greater. And it's
not just necessarily
about the income that you're receiving, that you
leave off when you realize it's something haram.
But something more general, any type of haram,
whether you're a rapper,
a rapper is listening, someone's involved in
all types of other haram in the music
industry.
In, you know, the countless things that a
person might be involved in that is haram,
Inam. InshaAllah, what we'll do now is we'll,
brother Wataymi, before we enter the break, you
mentioned an example about your friend who was
the accountant. He was involved in interest and
how he gave it up. And in the
beginning, he got a lot of slack from
his family, a lot of pressure. You know,
what are you doing? You got a family
to support, etcetera. But you mentioned how he
got something so much better in salary, but
he was even like before he settled in,
he was getting paid months to before he
even started actually commencing the work. You said
to me, we've got about 10 minutes left.
So in this 10 minutes, maybe you can
mention you said you had a couple of
other stories
The Before I do this, pal, I just
remembered that I forgot to mention, this brother
at that time, he was earning something called
minimum wage.
Minimum wage which is like the Lowest. Lowest
threshold than Lowest legal. And it's so low
that they just like and this is an
accountant. He's been studying for 3 years, you
know, and that's how much he was getting.
But look how Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala just
changed his fortunes
in a space of a few months. And
I personally have full conviction, it was because
he acted upon the hadith.
The hadith to me, oh Allah,
it really brings wonders,
SubhanAllah, through the through Allah Azza wa Jal.
Aynam.
Another example I'm going to mention Insha'Allah Ta'ala,
but before I do this, just a very
quick advice.
Okay?
What people need to know is
Pleasing all the people is an objection you
can is an objective you can never meet.
You please daddy, mom's gonna get upset. Okay.
You convinced Fulana,
this person is going to get upset.
So Imam Malik Rahim Allah mentions some very
powerful. He said
rectify that which is between you and Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. And Allah as a word
rectify that which is between you and the
people. You'll get a lot of slack for
it. If you just stay firm and you
keep patient and you ask Allah Azzaw to
help you through it because it's not easy.
If you have your close
relatives,
loved ones
attacking you, bullying you, you know,
subhanAllah, just giving you a hard time, you
can get to a person, especially the close
one. But, you know, be patient, InshaAllah Ta'ala.
And, Biyun Nihlihi Ta'ala, you know,
wonderful things will happen through that, Biyun Nihlihi
Ta'ala.
Okay. Another one. Insha'Allah.
This is another neighbor of mine.
In fact, he used to come to my
lesson and he sought my advice in regards
to this issue. I know this brother, he
was working
for Carf and Wahls. It's a very well
known
phone company. I'm sure you, yeah, come across
it. Right?
In Britain, it's a phone company. And he
was working in the call center. Okay?
And all of a sudden, they decided to
introduce
selling insurance.
He, at the time, when, you know, they
put this forward to him, he said to
them straight away, guys, okay, with all due
respect, you know, I've been working for you
for quite some time.
The issue of selling insurance, it,
contradicts or goes against my religion and I
can't do that. So they were like, okay,
well, don't worry. We'll remove you to another
department
and you wouldn't have to do this.
By that time he came to me and
and he saw my advice in regards to
the issue. Okay?
And, and I told him exact same hadith.
And I said to him,
Allah is not going to fail in his
promise. If Allah promised it's going to happen.
And this is the kind of community we
should all have in our hearts.
Okay?
SubhanAllah,
the brother
left his job. Okay?
After much thought.
And SubhanAllah, this brother I remember he had
recently got married. And we know when you
get married,
the wife must be taken out to the
ice cream parlor, she wants the Louis Vuitton
bags and, you know, you kind of need
money at the time to look after yourself
financially. But even, you know, to really
do that for your, for your wives and
for your wife. Okay?
So I used to see this brother, SubhanAllah,
Allah,
at Duhr time in the local Masjid. He
is making one of these very sincere, you
know, deep
du'a and you see the brothers going through
that difficulty
and,
you know, people giving him a hard time.
You could kind of like feel it as
well.
And SubhanAllah, I remember this brother,
he used to travel half an hour every
single day.
And even the half an hour might not
consume a lot of petrol, but it adds
up at the end of the month.
Okay? So that was one thing.
And,
he was far from his house. He's traveling
and it's also kind of okay, he's gonna
end up, you know, having an infection in
his pocket.
And, the other thing was as well, he
was earning something like
16,000
a month.
16,000 no, not a month. Sorry. A year.
Yeah.
I wish, you know,
he was earning 16,000 a month. 16,000 a
year, which to be honest to me is
good, Alhamdulillah,
but
it's not what,
you know, you could potentially earn.
Okay?
The brother leaves the job and then, SubhanAllah,
all of a sudden,
job offers are coming left, right, and center.
He's going to this interview. Someone not working
out and just all of a sudden, you
could see from nothing happening, all of a
sudden, bang.
Guess what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala blesses him
with a job where he wasn't involved in
any haram.
Not only did he get an increase in
wage, I think he was getting something like
22, 23,000 if I'm not mistaken.
He's not traveling half an hour every day
anymore. It's maybe a 10 minute drive.
Okay?
And,
Yaniyah, it just was
something more convenient for me from many different
angles. I remember the prophet came up to
me, you know, really gave me a very
nice hug and, you know, was over the
moon about,
the situation that he was in.
And SubhanAllah,
again it's that hadith.
Now you're leaving something for the sake of
Allah and of takwah.
The fear that you have for Allah
wanting to
stop at the boundaries that Allah has set.
And through that Allah, as well, can see
that, you know
Allah
sees the khair in your heart, He's going
to give it to you. You see?
And Allah
changed his
fortunes to I mean, and it also goes
back to the the same ayah we started
off with. Whoever fears Allah, Allah make a
way out for him and provide him from
where he could not even you could say
could not even imagine where it came from.
And you could see some of those in
these stories you mentioned. You that person never
would have imagined that him leaving this his
accountant job that he'd be paying be paid
so much more money Exactly. And be in
Mecca where he can pray in the kabbal
every day, which is like a dream come
true. Yeah. And then you mentioned the brother
of the Kaifa warehouse. He would never have
dreamed again that he could have got something
which was so much more in money. So
we can see that these
I remember the first the first brother used
to message me, tell me how much he
was loving life, chilling,
just going over to him and his wife.
And that's the
ideal
situation that every husband and wife dreams about,
to be able to get a nice job,
to go to the Haramain,
to go to Makkah in Madinah,
just do Umrah,
that's that's something that every person dreams for,
you see. And,
SubhanAllah, it goes back to the ayah that
you mentioned,
the hadith of the Messenger
Rizq
comes from where he doesn't expect it even
though you have the shaytan,
you know, whispering in your ears all the
time. Okay? And SubhanAllah, living in the places
like the West, what he has done to
the people is because it made them so
detached
from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
It's made them so detached.
As soon as okay, you've got an issue
at work,
because it has desensitized the people over there,
automatically we're giving the Fatur to rebbe, but
no, it's fine. It's a it's a necessity.
You can involve yourself in haram.
But but there's so many different steps insha
Allah which we will maybe cover in
the following episodes
that a person can embark on means to
take where Allah can give an increase in
provision
And then the Sharia has come with, you
know, telling us to take these options when
we find ourselves in these kind of circumstances.
Okay?
And we really need to work on, you
know, reconnecting ourselves to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
and building that thickah
with Allah
That trust, authenticity
that Allah also can make things happen.
Can really, really make things happen. And
Allah is best.
Thank
you for coming on the show.
And inshallah for the viewers,
may Allah reward you all for training tuning
in again. And inshallah, please tune in same
time, same place next week. And until then,
I leave you with the greetings of Islam.
