AI: Summary ©
Welcome again to another episode of your weekly
Islamic discussion show, Lifa Islam. As always, I'm
your host, Ismael Buluk.
And today, we have a guest that we
had on a previous show who had been
visiting us from the UK, brother Abu Tamir
Jelani. Assalamu alaikum, brother. Assalamu alaikum.
Now you'd come on a previous show
and that show you'd spoken I mean, many
of the viewers, they can go on to
YouTube and find it, but,
what we can do is we can do
a very short recap
of that for the first 5 or 10
minutes on what we discussed in that episode
and then we could talk about
the
the next step which is we've spoken obviously
before about the bad effects of trying to
get provision
or leaving from haram methods. And today's episode
will be focusing after the recap on
the practical ways to increase your provision, obviously,
in a halal way.
Okay.
In the previous episode, we discussed how,
you know, sometimes leaving something for the sake
of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, the wonderful,
positives and benefits that come with it.
And we gave practical examples of how there
was people who were involved
in some Haram, like the brother who was
writing down the Riba,
when he was working as an accountant, and
he came to know about the impermissibility of
the jutul hadith and the messengers.
Allah cursed the one who takes it, the
one who gives the one who Waqeel for
it,
the one who is a, who writes it
down, the one who is a witness for
it, all the same.
And when he left it for the sake
of Allah based
on the hadith
that I asked, you know, everybody to kind
of like place it between the eyes and
to write it with golden ink.
You only need something out of tahwa except
Allah Subhanahu will always
give you that which is better. And Allah
won't fail in His promise.
Something that has been practically
seen,
experienced by many, And
it's a promise that is mentioned in the,
in the Quran.
And you know how the Shaitan works really
hard
to
push you into falling into haram by
telling you that you don't have any alternatives.
You know, you're going to suffer financially,
you're going to have problems with your families
if you leave this job.
But how, you know, Hasan al Basir said,
I read in 90 places that Allah Azzawajal,
he mentioned in that your provision has been
decreed and I read
in He scares his
in one place. But what did we do?
We
we
left
the
speech of
the truth in all these 90 places,
and,
and we ended up believing the shaitan in
this one place. Okay? But we need to
know in a kay the shaitan.
The plotting of the shaitaan is weak, and
it's just empty
threats that he makes, but
if we really connect ourselves to Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala and take this Quran, which is
a guidance, in a hadil Quran,
If we read this Quran, it guides to
that which is more upright.
Allah
will really give us the guidance that we
are all looking for in every situation that
we find ourselves in. Now we wanna talk
about
practical ways because, you know, we spoke in
in in that episode on how many people
feel
that they cannot,
if I leave the Haram way or
in many ways it may seem and it
could be true to some extent,
especially in certain environments or certain places that
the forbidden ways to make money and to
make provision,
seem to be so many, and the the
ones that are permissible seem to be seem
to be a lot less. So we wanna
give some points or some practical,
advice or some points on things that we
can Islamically
from Islamic teachings that will show us that
it's not actually
1 or 2 points. There are actually many
points and many methods on how you can
increase your provision.
Inam, it's a it's a very important point
that we actually,
mention examples,
from the Quran and the sunnah.
If you was to kind of like apply
that in whatever situation you were in, because
it can get very very tempting to go
and do haram because it's so easy to
do. People actually tend to,
not realize how easy is to make crazy
amounts of money, but you will have to
do that at the expense of your religion.
But things that you could do,
if a person engages in it, Allah Subhanahu
will bless his wealth and give him an
increase in it. And,
first thing that I want to start with,
inshaAllah,
is
a shukru,
showing gratitude to Allah Subhanahu
because Allah
tells in the Quran
you thank Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. What happens?
Allah will increase you in your,
in whatever you thank Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
for. And Allah says in another verse,
a blessing from us and we will surely
reward the person who is grateful.
Okay?
And, Allah, if you look at the Ayat
from different Suras
Surah.
And what something that, you know, many of
the prophets had in common,
it was that they were thankful. And we
really need to take this from, we need
to take a lesson from this. Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala told us about
Nuh
alaihisattu
wasalam.
He was a very thankful slave,
Shukura. Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
tells us
about, you know, Dawud alaihis salaam and Sulaiman
alaihis salaamwalakaddaatina
Dawud alaihis salaaimanalma
And we gave Sulaiman and Dawud
We gave them knowledge. And they said, faqal
alhamdulillahi said, Oh, praise to Allah Subhanahu who
preferred us over the,
rest of the creation.
Ibrahim alayhi salatu wasalam
He was a thankful individual from the blessings
that Allah
gave him. And, and most importantly, obviously the
Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam who used to
spend so much time at night even though
we know that the messenger
passed and previous is were forgiven.
As Allah says, His past and his future
sins were forgiven. Even Haisha said this to
him,
Why are you doing this? He used to
pray so much
until the street became swollen and they became
reddened. Hajj will say, why are you doing
this? And Allah has done no. Forgive your
past and future sins. He will respond back
and say,
shall I not be a thankful slave? There's
a man who was walking on the face
of this earth and his future sins and
past sins were all forgiven.
So in order to show his gratitude to
Allah from all the different blessings that,
he gave him. So moving on swiftly, Insha'Allah,
of this matter. You know,
we as human beings,
it's become a habit of always looking at
the people above us. And we don't necessarily
sometimes
look at those below us who are less
fortunate than us.
And the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam came
with the complete opposite that which most people
are,
the mentality that most people have. He said
to us in a hadith,
Look at those below you and do not
look at those above you. This will make
you more thankful,
for ajdaraa letters during Ahmedullah. Make a person
more thankful of what he actually has. You
see a person, okay, he's earning minimum wage.
K, minimum wage might not be a lot
in your eyes.
K,
you're asking the question, are you not content?
Okay. Do you not?
Are you not happy with what you have?
The prophet says, no. Like,
My cousin, my uncle is earning x amount
of money.
Brother, there's people who don't even have minimum
wage.
Maybe if you looked at those below, it
make you more thankful that people are less
fortunate.
From
the little that you have, maybe if you
thank Allah you'll
get more.
Allah might replace with that which is better,
you know. And what's amazing is if you
look at the wisdom behind that statement,
even if you take that to someone who's
not a Muslim and is a psychologist, he
will tell you that it's an amazing statement
because, you know, if
if you look at those above you, you're
never ever gonna be happy. There's always gonna
be someone, unless you become the richest man
of the world, which most people aren't. There's
always gonna be people who are richer than
you. You'll you'll always you'll never have happiness.
You'll be miserable. Whereas if you're always looking
down on those lower than you could say,
you know, I have a I have a
quite nice car, quite a nice house.
Look at these poor guys. This guy you
you'll always be thanking Allah and realize that
you know what?
Of course, yeah. They I could have more
money, but I'm so much better than a
lot a vast majority
of the population. And if you then, depending
where you live, looking to other parts in
the world, you'll feel like you're a millionaire
compared to the sum of the simple life
that that that people live. And I I
know it's slightly off the topic, but,
my
we as a family had recently been to
Zanzibar,
which is the island in in, you know,
which falls under Africa. Right? Yeah. It falls
under now Tanzania. It used to be its
own used to be owned by Oman for
100 of years, but in the last,
I think, 30, 40 years as part of,
Tanzania.
And,
there
there was a small village
and
their life is basically they go fishing, their
kids go to school memorize Quran, get very
basic education,
they come home, help the mother and the
father
get the fish ready to sell Mhmm. And
it repeats. But if you see them,
they look so happy because
they have what they need in the sense
of they have a basic house, they have
a loving family,
they have food to eat, and they don't
know what they're missing. They're not exposed to
the Xboxes and the Playstations and the flash
cars and none of them at all
look upset. They all just seem to be
happy living their life. So a lot of
the time what we
perceive
to be we're not well off,
we are actually very well off. It's because
we've always been pushed certain movies and Hollywood
and whatever it may be that you have
to have a
Maserati, a Ferrari
and everything is so out there that we
feel if we don't have that, that our
life is over. And we can never have
a good life unless we reach those levels.
Yeah. A lot of people are actually not
happy. You know, I've seen this sometimes sitting
in the Haram,
in Medina.
A guy is coming out on Snapchat, you
know, he's recording himself.
Wallahiakhi. I could see as soon as he
gets off Snapchat, the guy looks miserable.
SubhanAllah.
I'm going to mention, inshallah, a
real life experience of a brother.
Okay? And hopefully, we can take from this
a lesson.
Because something that the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam
used to engage in, we really should ask
ourselves when is the last time that we
actually done this Ibadah?
Okay? He said that if something came to
the person
that brought him happiness,
he would hasten to prostrate into Allah
in thanks, out of gratitude, to what Allah
blessed him with. It was his brother. Okay?
I know who was studying abroad.
And this brother, SubhanAllah, when he came back,
he didn't have any qualifications and he didn't
have any experiences.
Today, when you look at the work industry
that which gets to a job is normally
what?
Experience
and also having qualifications.
Right?
So this brother came back and, he used
to say this about himself because, I was
fresh off the boat.
Like, I didn't have nothing. He just just
didn't know how to go about life,
in seeking an income.
Okay? And I remember the brother
used to see people around him who were
earning minimum wage and will say, guys, you're
not happy.
And they they will say to me, no,
Fulan is getting this and I'm not getting
that. The prophet is saying, I wish I
had your job. And the jobs that they
were doing was like hamali jobs, warehouse job
where you had to carry a lot.
Okay?
So this prophet is like for 8, 9
months looking for a job.
He wants to get married. He's been away
for quite some time. Things are getting quite
difficult now, you know.
And, he's just wishing he'd get a job
like this.
After some time,
you know, much hard work, Allah
blessed him
with a job in a office.
Still he was getting minimum wage, but he
felt like, okay,
firstly, you have people, they don't have jobs.
And secondly, people are coming back from their
warehouse jobs with back pain.
And hamdulillah, I'm just sitting on my chair
even though I'm not earning much. And hamdulillah,
and he hasten to frustrating to Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala and thanks. Okay.
It's gonna get a bit funny now.
We mentioned earlier the had the eye. Right?
And
When you think, you get more. And this
is the promise of Allah We know Allah
doesn't fail in His promise.
2 weeks later,
guess what happens to his brother? He gets
kicked out of his job.
And what I mentioned, I mentioned that he
thanked Allah as the wudu jal. Right? And
even he learned his brother, he studied some
of the Quran.
And,
his, his finger to him was, okay. I'm
sure now that Allah has got something else
in store for me.
Couple of weeks go past, you know,
again, gonna go through a difficulty.
He was earning minimum wage. And again, I
mentioned earlier that this person doesn't have any
qualification. He doesn't have any experience.
Guess what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala blesses him
with? A job where he was now getting,
you know, £3 more
than,
his job that he was doing earlier. And
this all came, SubhanAllah, out of, you know,
you know, the mercy of Allahu,
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Okay. I know graduates when
they graduate after studying for 4 years
in a secular university,
they struggle to come anywhere near
£9
an hour. I told you before about the
accountant. Right? He was getting minimum wage and
he's been working for 3, 4 years,
studying for 3, 4 years. Okay. He's working
in his job now. He hastens to frustration
to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. He remained in
his job, from what I remember, around 2
years.
All the time thanking Allah, all of a
sudden, he finds himself being pushed out of
the door.
Now he's already seen it because I'm sure
Allah
definitely has something else in store. You know,
Akhismail, you know what this brother is doing
now?
This brother is no longer working for,
these, you know, under a manager.
The brother Allah subhanahu wa'ala blessed him with
some investments
where he invested in money,
in businesses,
and he's just, you know, doing his da'wah,
trying to help the community,
and he's getting his income
through means where he just wasn't expecting.
And as you can see, each time he
thanked Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, he would prostrate
Allah in thanks, and each time he would
increase.
Okay? And, this is the power of, you
know, studying the Quran,
implementing it, you know, finding these,
little secrets, these gems and pearls from the
Quran that a lot of people are oblivious
about simply
because they
feel like it's not a realistic alternative
or maybe because they just follow everybody else
in the way that they are seeking a
provision, and that's the only alternative in Allah's
best wishes. Well, what we'll do now is
we'll the rate we started mentioning, we basically
had been discussing for the first part of
the show, and now we got about 10
minutes or less of of of the end
of the show. We've been discussing a very
important point is being thankful to Allah. Now
we wanna go through some of the others.
What actually came in my mind during the
break is,
is the giving of
When the prophet said that,
that someone's wealth does not decrease
from giving charity, meaning giving charities away to
increase your wealth. And, subhanAllah, it's been there's
been times that I can not that, mashaAllah,
I'm a great giver of charity, but I
can just remember times where there's been times
in the past where, you know, you sometimes
you might
in the past where you feel like it's
a bit short before payday and then you
have a few dirhams
or brials or pounds in your pocket,
especially when you're a student and you put
you put some, you know, money into the
charity box, say, mister Mullah. And you surprisingly
later, you someone calls you and says to
you, oh, you remember that thing you did
that time? Yeah. The money's come through. Or,
Aqi, you let me about 1 year ago,
£20, £30.
And then out of the blue, the person
calls you and said, apologies, Akhi. What for?
A year ago? What happened a year ago?
What's that time at the at the masjid
you let me £30?
I don't remember. Yeah. I've got a ahi.
Can I meet you today at the mosque?
I'm coming for Asia. And and you're like,
you know, and you just you then you
kind of said to us, I just gave
away that £2 that I kind of needed,
but I had a bit, you know, I
had like £4. I thought let me make
me similar and so that
people people can see that, and I'm sure
there's many people out there who can also
relate and have their own stories of that.
Yeah. Allah says,
Never whatever a person spends in charity, Allah
will replace that for him. And I was
just about to mention the
what you just mentioned, SubhanAllah.
Yani, this is something that is known,
from Salihin. Even the scholars they mentioned, the
Salihin, what they do is that just when
his money is about to run out
and he's got a bit left,
he'd go and give a major part of
that charity.
Because he knows
that Allah is going to place Baraka and
Allah is going to replace that for him.
So I always tell people guys, you know,
just set up direct debits
or standing orders. I don't know what they
have here in Dubai. Something that I know
to hurt the pockets
and is less
because the messenger says, what do you say?
No most beloved actions to Allah is that
which is because even if it is something
small, something maybe 10 dirham,
10 riyals, you know, £10, something that doesn't
put a hole in the pocket,
and it's coming out on a regular basis.
But what is Allah doing? He's multiplying it
for you because of the sadaqah that you're
giving. That's one thing it is.
Another Another thing that pops to mind is
which is also a very a very important
thing generally is keeping the family ties. I
mean, we know that prophet said, man.
You know, that whoever believes in Allah on
the last day that he should keep, maintain
his family ties.
And you I also remember the other hadith
that whoever wishes that his life
to be extended and his provision to be
increased for Yesur Rahima, you know. Yeah. I
think you're friends
Whoever wishes that his lifespan is increased and
also his,
his risk has increased and let this person
tie the kit and kill allahi brothers and
sisters.
I see this so, you know, common and
how
brothers and sisters I'm talking about,
you know, real brothers and sisters,
blood brothers and sisters, how they cut the
kith and kin, their relations between them over
the most pathetic of things.
Maybe because he didn't give me enough notice
for the wedding.
Not because he didn't call him, but because
he didn't give me enough notice of the
most pathetic of things. I'll give you this
example and I think it's,
kifai for this specific
means of getting an inquisition.
Abu Bakr radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu,
his daughter
Aisha
when she was accused and slandered
to have gone and committed fornication or to
be a fornicatress.
Okay? From those who
spread the slander was his cousin, mister Ahluthaiza.
He was from those who, you know, spread
the slander as well. And Subhanahu Abu Bakr
was
the only one who was providing for him
financially, looking after him financially
after Mi'ztah made Hijrah from Makkah Jwal Midi.
He did not have any other source of
income. He was the only source of income.
So after it became clear and the verses
came down that she was free from this,
Abu Bakr radiAllahu ta'ala and he swore I'm
not going to help my cousin again. So
verse came down.
Do not let the people of virtue, you
know, swear that they're not going to help
them.
Rather forgive and forget tender page. Okay? We
know it's very difficult for someone to say
something about female relatives. It makes a person's
blood boil.
Really is difficult to take.
Not only did he forgive him as soon
as the verse came down, but what did
he do? He carried on.
You know, looking after him financially and giving
him an increase in giving him more income.
SubhanAllah. This is a perfect example of how
we should be with regards to this point.
In a one other thing that I I
really wanna mention is
the issue of marriage.
Okay? Some might get baffled. Okay? I'm poor
now. If I get married, it's going to
give me more of a financial problem. Okay?
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells in the Quran,
and get married to the female slaves amongst
you and also from the righteous amongst them.
If they are poor, then Allah Azzawajal will
enrich in him. Will enrich him this individual,
make him more rich. Umram Al Khattab radiAllahu
ta'ala Anhu he said,
It has amazed me as to why people
they don't go searching for
an increase in wealth by getting married.
Okay?
SubhanAllah, Yani. When you look at it Okay.
Most people have the mentality
that I'm going to
have a major
financial burden after that. But, no, I can
give you so many exams of people who
have nothing.
Allah, you know,
they embarked on the issue of marriage, and
it's not giving them more and more. Not
the hadith which says,
3 people that Allah
has made a right upon himself to help
these people. And one of them is,
one of them is Ashaa'bou and liridul akhaf.
The youngster wants to get married in order
to safeguard his,
chase,
his chastity.
Okay?
And, you're like, guys, I'm gonna mention this
as well.
I think it's very very sad,
our situation.
We as parents,
as different cultures, what we've done is we've
made the issue of marriage so hard upon
them.
And because of this, it had led to,
they're being so haram. Like, I I see
sometimes,
you know, from from the same country, but
because they're from different tribes, they're not allowed
to
get married. Okay? And we make things so
difficult when the issue of marriage is so
simple. Okay? And because we made it so
difficult now, because we want maybe a certain
category of a person to come and, you
know, take our daughters, look what the messenger,
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, said. He said,
Whatever comes to you, you're satisfied with his
akhlaq, his mannerism,
and his relation and getting married off. Either
you do that, otherwise, there'll be a fitna
and a facade on the face of this
earth, and we're seeing this fitna and facade.
The parents, look at the logic they have.
Okay. No. This is going to bring shame
to our family if he gets married outside
the family, which is very common.
But later when a haram takes place and
she gets pregnant,
oh, now it's a bigger issue, we need
to get them married off. They're running away
now thinking, okay, a bigger
hara a bigger shame is going to come
to our community, going to come to our
family and so on,
and and so forth. Another fasada has become
so widespread is the issue of *.
I've had countless emails from people in Canada.
Okay? These are practicing brothers emailing me saying,
Ustad.
These are practicing brothers who have now reverted
to,
*.
And fulfilling their desires through this. Simply because
when they wanna go and get married,
one of the conditions that's being told them
you need to have $20,000
and you need to have a degree.
Okay? And,
if you don't have this, then we're not
getting you married off. So they've reverted this
and this is the fashad.
Not blaming or I'm downplaying the seriousness of
what they're falling into, but there's reasons, there's
means, and everything that has caused it, And
we've made it difficult. And your kids,
a lot of them are involved in this.
Whether us parents are very naive about it
or not, this is the reality. I'm telling
you from this person who's received countless of
emails
and even sisters who
might even wear niqab
saying, oh, you know, brother, this is the
problem now with sisters.
Naham, you know. And, it's a means of
getting an increase in provision. Sure. We could
like, you know, this is a topic we
could probably talk for so many episodes. Yeah.
And I think just to end,
I will obviously
thank you, Jazakoul Laker, for coming on the
show. And we thank you also for bringing
me up. Jazakoul Laker. Yeah. And, also to
the viewers, one thing that just pops in
the mind is don't forget
one of the also the best ways to
increase provision is du'a.
Making the du'a as we mentioned in the
episode before about the man whose his clothing
was haram and he his,
income was haram and his, and his food
was that he ate was haram. So how
will his dua be answered? The opposite. If
you're doing things in the right way and
you're making things in the dua, this is
one of the best ways inshallah.
And inshallah,
until the next episode,
next week,
same time, same place. I leave you with
the greetings of Islam.
