AI: Summary ©
So we were speaking about how
the
prophet he started off with the
Speaking about how Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala started
off his book and the author here was
imitating that and also how the prophet salallahu
alayhi used to do that with his letters
to the kings and also the other writings
he used to have. And we mentioned the
hadith of the prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam that
he was once
sitting down
amongst the companions.
He said
He put his head down, his head dropped,
and then he put it back up again.
He raised his head while he was smiling.
What makes you laugh?
A Surah was sent down upon me a
few moments ago,
and he read
Also to the letter that he sent to
Abu Sufyan,
to the letter that the prophet sallallahu alaihi
was sent to the Hercules and Abu Sufyan
was carrying it. He started off by saying,
bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
And then also brothers and sisters, you have
the shard.
The
treaties of Hudaybiyah.
When the prophet
was stopped from going into
Al Makkah,
or Makkata,
Prophet SAW Alaihi Wasallam said to them, lay
down the conditions between
us and you.
So the Prophet started off by writing,
Muhammad
Prophet
said to write
down the conditions.
First thing that he wrote down was Bismillahir
Rahmanir Rahim.
And this is what Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam
has decided to do.
And
brothers and sisters, this is the exact Naj,
the methodology
that
the companions, the Khalifa Rashideen
embarked upon when they used to write letters
as well. And this is exactly what
Al Kitab. Anas Maligir sent Abu Bakr radiAllahu
ta'ala. Abu Bakr sent Anas to Bahrain,
and he was carrying a book with him.
He's carrying a book with him that spoke
about the obligations of sadaqa amongst among the
people.
So the first thing that he started with
was,
This is the fariy of the obligation of
sadaqah that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has commanded
the messenger salallahu alaihi wa sallam with. And
what the messenger then made an obligation upon
the Muslims.
Whoever now from the Muslims
is asked
to pay the correct amount, then let him
pay
it.
Whoever ask more than that, then let him
not pay this.
Pertaining the best malah.
Is the basmalah and ayah a verse from
the Quran, a verse from Fatiha?
Can anybody guess?
Is it a verse from Suratul Fatiha,
Or is it a verse from the Quran?
Or what is it?
It's a verse from the Fatiha.
Anybody else?
The scholars have taken 4 different views as
to whether the Bismalah in the Quran
is a Surah,
is a verse from the different Surah
or a verse from Surah Tufatiha.
The first view,
which is a very strong view that the
scholars have is, laisid Ayatul Munul Qurani.
They
say it is not a verse from Fatiha,
nor is a verse from the rest of
the Surah.
It's not a verse from the Quran.
And now it shows us the hadith of
of Anas, he mentioned that the Messenger salallahu
alaihi wa sallam Abu Bakr and Umar, they
used to open their prayer with just Alhamdulillahi
rabbalameen.
We know that the Fatiha
reading the Fatiha inside of salawat is what?
Is a rukun. Right? Is a pillar. If
you don't read the Fatiha,
If you don't pray Fatiha in your rakah,
then that salah is not correct. You have
to repeat the whole salah again.
The rakah, you have to repeat the whole
rakah again.
You have forgotten and you repeat the rakah
after the end of the prayer.
Brothers and sisters.
So the companions
like Abu Bakr and Umar and the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, they used to start
off reading when they entered in the prayer
with only Alhamdulillahrubalalamin.
They never used to mention Bismillah.
Are you with me brothers?
Also, you have the Hadith of Abu Hurayat
Radiallahu Ta'ala Anhu. Hadith Al Qudsi, where Allah
is speaking. He said, Hasamtul Salat Abayni Wabeina
Abdeen Naswain.
I have now split the Salat.
I have split the prayer
between me and my servant into 2 different
parts.
And my servant whatever he asks I'm gonna
give it to him. So our point is
straight away Allah Azzawajal he went into
just talking about Alhamdulillahirabbalahalameen.
The first, brothers and sisters has been split
into 2 categories.
He has been shared out into 2 different
portions. One is for Allah Azzawajal
and the second part is for the servant.
Where he asked Allah Azzawajal,
Isn't that request from the servant to Allah
Azzawajal that applies for him? So the point
is when Allah Azzawajal in this hadith was
talking about
how the surah has been split into 2
parts, he never mentioned Al Bismillah.
So again, this
point was taken by the scholars,
and it was made that the Bismillah is
not from the Surat al Fatiha
because it wasn't mentioned part of it.
And the 3rd hadith they use is, you
know, the hadith of Jibril.
When Jibril came to
the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
and he said to him, Iqra, read.
And the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is there.
He doesn't know how to read.
He's saying Ma'ana bi qari. So he squeezed
him, and then he said to him again,
ikra.
And then the prophet was squeezed again. Ma'ana
biqara. He's saying, I don't know how to
read.
So then, Jibril alaihis salam, when he started
teaching him, the first thing that he started
with was
Iqra. So our point is again here, the
Bismillah wasn't mentioned.
Am I being too excited brothers? Are you
understanding what I'm saying?
Here the Bismillah wasn't mentioned. So the scholars
they took from this, the Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
is not a verse from the Quran.
Then the 4th hadith, that this first group
of scholars,
they use as proof to say that the
best man is the power of the Quran.
Quran.
There is a surah in the Quran
that consists of 30 verses
and it didn't see that for an individual
and it forgave his sins.
You know what the story is? Who can
have a guess?
Suratul Mulk Tabarakal Laddi Bi Adi Al Mulk.
It forgave a person and it was an
indecision for
him. So the point is, when we look
at a surah, it consists of 30 verses.
Was Bismal a part of it? When the
scholars, the Quran,
Ajma'u,
they unanimously
agreed that this surah is only 30 verses.
That this surah is only 30 verses and
the basmana wasn't part of it.
So you have 4 different hadith. All of
these 40,
sorry, all of these 4 hadith,
they prove the point that what?
The best malah
is not part of
part of the Quran, jayil.
Al Qawluthani,
the second position they say that the best
manna is
a part of the Fadhi and it's part
of the Quran. Who can tell me the
proof?
There are 7 verses. There's another verse in
Surat Al Hijr, which says, We have given
you the 7 verses. But they'll say to
you,
That's 1 verse.
That's the 7th verse.
They split the Ayah into 2. So that
makes it all what?
Seven different verses.
So they say the best man is not
part of it. But who can give me
the proof?
I mentioned it today.
This seems sharp enough. Today, I mentioned a
hadith.
I'll give you a hint. Sword, kothar.
Nah, I'm jayed.
Anas Harid, Anas al Numatic, earlier
when I mentioned it, the the Prophet was
sitting amongst him and all of a sudden
he dropped his head.
And then he put his head back up
again while he was smiling. They asked him,
why are you laughing You Rasulullah?
He said,
A Surah came down upon me. And then
he said, BismillahirRahmanir
Rahim.
So he mentioned a Bismillah at a time.
This is the second view. The third view
is,
The third view is, it is only a
verse from the Fatiha, nothing else.
And in the 4th view,
This is the outward opinion. This is the
outward opinion
of what the best manna is in the
Quran.
The best manna is a verse between
all the different chapters of the Quran, except
between which two Surahs? Al Anfalu
or Surah Bara,
Surah Tawba.
You don't find,
the best man in there. Walayi sent me
in a Sur. It is not part of
the Sur. It is not part of the
chapters.
But rather what it is,
it is like a Surah by itself.
The Bismillah rahmanirahim is like a Surah by
itself. Surah Mustaqillah.
And the proof of this is the Hadith
Hadith ibn Abbas, radhiallahu ta'ala Anhu. He said,
The prophet
never knew
how to
differentiate between the different Sur, until the Bismillahir
Rahmanir Raheem came down upon him.
So the Bismillah is there, the separation.
And the Prophet was having Surah, by the
Surah, by the Surah coming down upon him.
And the Prophet never knew how to,
you know, do Tarteeb.
How to separate between the different chapters until
the Bismillah, rahman, rahim came down. When the
Bismillah, rahman, rahim came down, what happened?
He was able now to differentiate
between
Surat Bahara, Surat Al Imran, Surat Nisa. This
is Surat Al Bahkara, this is Surat Nisa,
Surat Al Imran. Are you with me, brothers
and sisters?
It is
a Surah, independence
alone Surah
that separates between the different surahs in the
Quran.
If I now negate a har from the
Quran, what does that make me?
Let's just say, for example, we have.
If I take out the Qul
and I negate it, and I say the
Qul is not part of it, what does
that make me?
Ana Kafirun. I have left the fold of
Islam.
If I take out Qul,
and I say it's not part of the
Quran, and every time I resort to Falak,
I say,
or
I say,
I take the qul out of every part
of the Quran.
Or even if I just take one haraf,
just take the qaf off of the Quran.
I am no longer a Muslim. I have
left the fold of Islam and it's a
very important point that we should know.
As alia radhiallahu ta'ala Anhu mentioned, whoever negates
a haraf, one letter from the Quran, disperses
a kafir.
Alai Waqmi, brothers and sisters.
So now that we've now agreed on this
principle, that whoever negates a har from the
Quran, this person is a kafir. Allah says,
This person's a kafir. Whoever negates a verse
from the Quran, this person has
disbelieved in Allah as well as also mentioned
in the Quran.
Taim.
This best malah now this Bismillah now that
is found in the Quran,
if I negate it and I say that
the Bismillah is not part of the Quran,
what does that make me?
Based on this principle.
In the kafir, Allah says,
This person is
Am I a disbeliever now?
But we mentioned that the 4th view
disagrees with what you mentioned just now. The
4th view we mentioned
that it is a Fasrun, but you know,
Surahri. Right?
It is like
a
independent
surah. What about the group of scholars who
took the position that it is not a
ayah from the Quran. It's not a surah.
Because I told you there's a group of
scholars. Right? I mentioned there's 4 different views
as to whether the best malay is a
surah from the Quran. It is a Surah
from Fa is a verse from Fatiha. Some
of them even say it's not a. Do
we say these group of scholars Oqfar now?
These were from the Salaf.
And Imam An Nawar, he went as far
as saying,
This is the position of a group of
scholars from the Salaf
that we are not able to enumerate.
So many of them took this position. They
will say, Okafor now.
Put your hand up with the kfar.
The kfir is shaded.
The point is, brothers and sisters, this is
a masala in itself. I'm going to mention
it to you, inshallah.
The scholars, they unanimously
agreed
that you don't say that Fulan is a
kafir if he affirms or renegates it,
in regards to this issue only.
But if anyone else came and took any
other haraf out of the Quran, they spared
the kafir without any doubt whatsoever.
But because there was so much
differing among the scholars in regards to this
issue, a unanimous agreement took place after that.
An Ijma. Where do we take our religion
from? Three places. Quran, Sunnah and Ijma'ah. If
the scholars, all of them agree on a
certain issue.
My Ummah doesn't gather upon this guidance. If
they take a position and they say that
we are going to accept it like this
and all of them agree upon it, it
becomes a hujjah. It becomes like a verse
and a sunnah from the sunnah of the
prophet
Are you with me? So they agreed now
that whoever affirms it, whoever negates it, we
cannot say this person is a kafir.
In opposition now to
negating a harp that everybody agreed upon. Does
everybody agree upon Soren Anas?
Is there anybody that came and said, oh,
no, Khul shouldn't be there. Oh, you know,
Khul should be there. Did anybody ever say
that?
Everyone has agreed
that Surah Tunas, the way it is today,
written in our must have, it's like that.
Nobody will come and take a haraf out.
Nobody will come upon extra harafin. But the
basmalah wasn't like that. The best manah,
they differed
with it greatly.
Okay. What about now? There's another Bismillahir Rahmanir
Rahim inside.
Suratul Namal.
What if now
I say that or negate that Bismillahir Rahmanir
Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir
Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir Rahmanir
Rahmanir Hussainir Rahmanir Hussainir Ahmadir Rahmanir Hussainir Ahmadir
Rahmanir Hussainir Ahmadir Hussainir Ahmadir Hussainir Ahmadir Hussainir
Ahmadir Hussainir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir
Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Hussainir
Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir Ahmadir.
Does the same thing apply here as well?
Yes? No? Yes? No?
It doesn't apply. Why? Because this is a
verse that is unanimously agreed upon. We are
talking about the best manna is between the
suar.
Are you with me, brothers and sisters? We
are talking about the best manna is between
the Sur.
As for this verse, whoever now negates this
haraf or a, you know, this verse now
that's in Surat Anaman,
This person has surely disbelieved.
5.
Read the read it again.
The Sheikh Habidhulaota'ala,
he says,
He makes dua for you right in the
beginning. He asked Allah subhanahu wa'ala to guide
himself and to guide you as well. And
brothers, if you look at the different mutun,
the different text that we study in aqeedah,
in tawhid, or soulfiqbayyukunya.
You find a lot of the time that
the maulif
that the Mu'alif Rahimahullah Ta'ala. He starts off
by making dua for the reader.
Brothers and sisters, making dua for somebody
in his absence
is a means of you killing 2 birds
with 1 stone. Have you heard a method
before? Killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Prophet
salayahu, as I mentioned, hadith.
You find a lot of the time that
du'a that a person makes his his brother
starts off the dua. As long as you
are doing in his absence.
If I'm at home and I make dua
for Muhammad, he's not in front of me.
He doesn't know about it. What happens? The
dua is accepted.
An angel has been given the responsibility.
Every time a person makes a dua like
that,
the angel says, Ameen, walaka mithinun. You can
have the exact same thing as all.
Are you with me, brothers?
You make dua for a person who's absent,
you are killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
You benefit and he benefits us all.
And also what the Sheikh has done, he
asked Allah
to give you good etiquettes.
That's the kind of du'a that he's making,
and this is exactly what the Prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam used to do as well.
We look at the guidance of the prophet
when the prophet used to open a prayer
to Alistiftah,
And see where he says,
Oh, Allah. Guide me to the best of
actions and to the best of etiquettes.
Nobody can guide me to the correct etiquettes
and the correct marasm except ant except you.
And save me from the bad actions.
And nobody can save me from it except
you. In another hadith,
Oh Allah, I seek refuge in you. From
what?
The evil characteristics, the evil mannerisms.
And also the evil actions and the evil
desires.
So the sheikh hasn't done anything different. Rather,
you will see every step that we go
to in this matter, that the Sheikh hasn't
just taken out of his back pocket, He
has based it on the guidance of the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
You will find a hadith. We will be
getting every point, every point and we'll be
giving you a hadith for it. And this
is how the speech of an individual should
be. You don't speak in the religion except
that it's backed up with what?
A textual evidence.
If you can not even scratch your back
except with a proof, then do so. He's
just trying to give you an example
of everything that you do brothers and sisters
in this religion.
Try to have a textual evidence.
Don't ever speak except you know, proof. Kitab,
sunnah. Upon the understanding of the sahabah.
And that's what differentiates
the people of the sunnah and the people
of deviation innovation.
Any step that we take, any move we
make. Okay. First thing we ask, this proof
that you're bringing, was it understood now
by the companion in such a way? Not
only
do we look at the proof, but how
it was understood by them. So I take
this principle from me.
Anything that is brought to you, then you
should always ask about 2 things. Nasan musaddakwabahinmuhaqqak.
Firstly, is this proof authentic?
Guys pay attention here. You're gonna find guys
that tell you about all sorts of stuff.
A guy will come there and he'll try
and say to you, okay. It's okay for
you to celebrate mauled.
And it'll bring you a verse from the
Quran that has been totally taken out of
context. Or a haditha is ta'if.
It's like me saying to you now,
you know, it's okay to,
celebrate Mawlid.
A verse that is brought has been totally
taken out of context.
It's like me saying to you. Okay, it's
okay now to go and celebrate the life
of Isa alaihis salatu wasalam. Why? Because Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in Surat Al Maidah mentions
his name.
Are you gonna take that from me?
But Isa's name was mentioned though. He's a
prophet. We should respect him. We respect the
prophet. We should respect him as well.
First, you need to see. Okay, he's authentic.
Taib. Surat Al Maidah. From the Quran, we
accept the Surat Al Maidah. Nobody is going
to differ. But then the second thing is
what? What's the second step?
Is it being put in its proper context?
Is it the same way that a companion
is a celebrity for us? They applied in
such a way.
What is the ruling in starting the salam?
Is it wajib?
Is it mustahab?
Do I have to do it? Do I
not have to do it? Is it being
when we look at the textual,
we find that returning it.
To start it is not wajib.
To start the salam, to go up to
somebody.
To start it is not wajib.
But if somebody gives you salam,
somebody gives you salam.
It is compulsory upon you to return it.
You didn't read the method. Right? Okay. Read
it.
So if you now read in English? Read
in English. And firstly, if you meet a
Muslim then give him,
salaam and say, Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi
Wa Barakatuh
Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh. And if
they greet you then say,
may peace and blessings be upon you.
So the Sheikh now he's gone into the
first etiquette. The first etiquette with,
When you meet a Muslim, then give you
a salams.
Right?
And then?
And then when he gives you salam, say,
As we mentioned brothers and sisters,
that returning the salami is something that is
wajib. To start the salami is wajib.
It is not wajib. And there's an Ijima
on this. Allah says in the Quran
When someone now comes and greets you,
then
respond back with that greeting, the way that
he greeted you, oh wait, that which is
better.
So if I say to you, assalamu alaikum.
How do you respond back? Wa Alaikum Assalam.
Do you have the choice to say, Wa
Alaikum
Assalam?
Either you say, if I say to you,
assalam Alaikum. I don't go into
That's something extra. I say to salam alaykum.
That which is wajib upon you to do
that which is like it. Say at least,
walaikum salaam.
You wanna get more reward?
You wanna earn a better virtue? Wa Alaykum
Salam.
And this is exactly what this ayah, this
verse in Suratul Islam is saying.
Then Imam An Nabi
says,
If a person is standing by himself,
somebody comes and he gives him salaam. It
is wajib upon that person to return it.
But now it changes in
another
situation.
If
there's a group of people,
one person walks past and he says, Assalamu
alaykum.
Is it wajib on every single person to
return to salam?
No, it's not. It's Fartify.
Fartify means something that is wajib. But if
some people
do that,
then it falls off everybody else.
Are you with me, brothers and sisters?
Let's just say there's 10 people standing. I
walk past and say, salaam Alaikum. Only 1
of them or 2 of them mention it.
They return the salaam.
The wajib, the obligation has fallen off everybody
else.
Like janazah now.
To go and attend the janaza is something
fardun kifai.
If a group of people that establish it,
then it doesn't become wajib upon everybody else.
But if nobody comes,
everybody becomes sinful.
Are you with me, guys?
If some people fulfill that obligation, then it
falls off everybody else. There's certain Ibarat you
could do that. And there's other Ibarat you
can't.
So if no one was to return that
salaam from them, 10 people who I walk
past and I gave salaam to, all of
them become sinful.
But if someone, one of them returns the
salam, what happens?
It falls off everybody else.
Mil Fadha
alassallam yawakasa isihi from the virtues of a
salam and also that which makes it special.
And brothers, you know, sometimes you find a
very small act that we could do
that might go a 1000000 miles
for our akhira.
This is why the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam said,
do not belittle anything from the good deeds.
From anything that is good, don't belittle it.
Even if it was to meet your brother
with a smiling face, sometimes a very small
action.
We overlook it. That mind will only be
in the mind. Let me take 1 p
and go and give in the charge. This
is why we're sometimes thinking to ourselves that
this will go a long way. 1 p,
1 p,
2p, 3p, 4p,
something that
is probably lying around in our bathrooms
while we've taken off our clothes, our 1
p, and we feel like it's only 1
p, just put it to the side. If
it was a pound, we would have picked
it up. Something very, very small like that.
The prostitute that the prophet told us about,
she entered into a jail for doing what?
She was committing a major sin. Major sin.
She saw a dog that was
dying of thirst. She got her shoes. She
put a bit of water in there. And
what happened?
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala forgave all her sins
for quenching the thirst of a dog.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala forgave this prostitute who
was committing major sins.
This is why they say do the actions.
For indeed you don't know which action is
going to get you into a jannah.
Assalam. Now look, brothers and sisters, what great
virtue comes out
alayhis salam is from the best of the
affairs of
A man
came to the prophet and he said to
him, what are the best things that a
person could do in Islam?
He said,
Feed the poor and also give your greetings.
Give your salaam to the people that you
know and the people you don't know.
What happens today? Some of you are gonna
start smiling. You probably already know what I'm
gonna mention. A person is going past. Why
is he talking to me for I don't
know him?
Who is he to talk to me? I
don't know him.
Well, one time I was walking with a
practicing brother. A guy walked past. He's smiling.
Even I was shocked at how much he
was smiling. Assalamu alaikum brothers.
The guy walked by. He's a practicing brother.
Prophet, why? I don't know him. Why is
he talking to me before?
Still, this Jahil time mentality is present amongst
us all.
Rather the mere fact that he realized that
you are a Muslim,
He has every right to speak to
you. He has every right to give you
that greeting.
Another hadith. Annoamin asbab al Muwaddati wal muhabati
bayin al Muslimeel. It is from the causes
that causes love and affection
to take place between the Muslims.
And this now, the affection and the love
that you have between you and your brothers
is a means that gets you into Jannah.
Can you see how such a small thing
led to another and then that led to
you entering into ajannah, which is our main
objective that we're trying to
or the main goal that we're trying to
attain. The main thing that we want is
jannah.
Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said,
You won't enter into ajannah until you believe.
And you won't truly believe until you start
loving one another
for the sake of Allah azza wa Jal.
Shala
now tell you of something that if he
was to do it, you will start loving
one another. Afshus Salamabeinikum. Spread the salaams amongst
you.
Now just look at
shaking each other's hands.
There's not a time when 2 Muslims.
They meet one another and they shake each
other's hands.
Accept
that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will forgive their
sins
before they
go their ways.
Are you with me, brothers and sisters?
Are you with me, brothers and sisters? Something
so basic look what's happened.
The 4th point, Hasidulyahood.
The jealousy that the Jews
had for the Muslims. One of these things
was because of the salaam they used to
spread amongst them.
There's not a thing
that the yahood had more jealousy for.
In regards to the Muslim, I accept 2
things.
The first thing was the fact that we
say Amin
in a salat.
How everybody does in a congregation. Are you
with me, guys?
They had jealousy in their hearts for the
Muslims
because of that.
The other thing was what?
The fact that everybody when they meet one
another, there's so much joy. Everybody starts smiling.
They give salaams to one another. In regards
to the Muslims. So much jealousy.
Allah says to us in the Quran, a
lot of these people of the book,
the hasad they have for you,
it makes them want
you to renegade from your religion, to live
the foldable Islam.
That's how much hassle they had. They had
hasad against the Muslims for these basic things.
From the Akkam of Salam and also its
etiquettes.
Firstly, to spread it amongst the people and
to make it apparent. And we mentioned the
hadith, afshus Salamabeinokum.
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam mentioned another hadith.
The most stingiest of the people is the
one who what?
Yushra'a, the second point. Yushra'a tablughus salamuwatahammuli
It has been legislated for you
to convey the salaam and to carry it
to others.
If someone says to you, take the salaam
and give it someone else or give my
salaam to Fulan.
Then in this case, you should take the
responsibility of fulfilling it.
Aisha radiAllahu ta'ala Anha. Anan Nabi
Aisha said that the prophet said to her,
Prophet came to Aisha and said to her
that Jibril
is sending his salams upon you. Aisha replied
back and he said,
Also from the Sunnah and the Eticus of
a salam, this is the third point.
If there is a 2 Muslims, they are
together with one another,
then one of them exists or one of
them enters
or something separates them both.
It is Mashuluh. It is legislated.
What do they do? They give salaams to
one another again.
Let's just say for example, we're sitting at
home.
I invite some of you lot to my
house. You're not always sitting in the living
room. I leave the room and I go
to the kitchen to get the food for
you lot.
I leave the room. Right? And I come
back.
What
is legislated for me in this situation when
I come back in to give salams again?
Direct
the statement of the prophet
If you meet your brother, you're walking with
him. You've given salaams already, right? Then you're
walking. Then all of a sudden maybe there
was a pole in between you and him.
We have this all the time, right? Sometimes
we see 2 guys coming with his dog
and everybody gets scared. He goes that way
and then he goes that way.
Because us Samalis, you know, we're very very
scared of dogs
more than other.
He's going that way and he goes the
other way. What happens?
You meet one another again, you give the
salam. This is exactly what the prophet said.
Or maybe a tree or a stone that
kind of separates you both.
Here again,
from the tradition of the prophet give salam
again.
Also you have the hadith of the Musiyeh
Salat, the famous story of the individual who
paid a very very bad prayer.
He came to the prophet
He gave his salam.
So the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
he said to him,
Go back and pray. You haven't prayed. So
he just went to the side of the
mezzan, he came back.
And every single time, brothers and sisters, he
would give the
salam.
Who gives salam to who?
Sometimes some pride and arrogance may enter into
our hearts in regards to this situation. And
I'll explain why. I'm older than him. Why
don't he give me salaam?
This happens very commonly amongst family members as
well.
And you'll be surprised how
sometimes they, you know, split from one another
Because, oh no. He didn't visit me and
he didn't give me the salaam. He blanked
me when he walked past me. Maybe the
guy didn't see you
or maybe something was bothering his mind. Have
Usnaban.
It is better, the prophet
The young one, he gives salam to the
older one.
The guy that who's going past,
he gives salam to the person who is
still and he's sitting down.
If 2 people are walking past and then
there's maybe 5 of them
maybe sitting somewhere or you know are they
walking past him. Let's just say there's 25
are going the other way. Who gives salaam
to who? The Prophet
said
those
to the person who is more in number.
No way. Are you with me guys?
This is something that is better.
We don't say if the other person, you
know, the other groups give salam to the
other, you are sinful.
If you look at the humility, how the
Prophet used to humble himself.
One time the Prophet went past a bunch
of children, a couple of children there.
Did he say, no. Oh, they should be
given Anna Rasoolallah.
I am the Prophet. I am the messenger.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gave me a status.
They should be giving salams to me.
He would go and he would give salam
to these kids.
Are you with me brothers and sisters? Today,
a guy goes studies and comes back
and he's talking from his, they say,
he's walking from his nose
or from his head.
What I mean by this is
it feels like the people should be coming
up to him.
People should be chasing him around
and it's actually quite embarrassing or maybe you're
lowering yourself. If you go and visit the
people, you go to the people or you
go and maybe give salam to the kids.
Khan and Nabiyou, sometimes a little young child
would come. She would take him by the
hand and he would walk around the city
with his young kid. Give time to her.
Her. Recently, Sheikh Abdul Azakal Badr in the
prophet's masjid, he went through this kitab called
Muqtasar
mean
Sifat in Nabi summarization
of the characteristics of the prophet
his appearance and also how he used to,
you know, adorn himself with mannerism.
It was one of the best books that
I studied
and one of the most favorite Mashaikh. In
the way he told that way. He was
talking about the tawadah, the humility, the humbleness
of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. I
remember also, subhanAllah.
There was a young kid with very long
hair sitting right in front of the Sheikh.
As soon as the aida started going off,
the sheikh starts smiling at this young kid.
He's looking at him. He's smiling at him,
and then the kids getting excited. Oh, the
Sheikh is smiling at me. You know, the
Sheikh is very big there. Very, very big.
His teacher or his father, sorry,
is
the Sheikh who went through Kutubasitah
in, like, 32 years. He's like the Mufti
of Al Madina.
And also his son has a very big
status there.
As soon as the Adan
started going, the young the young kid stands
up, he goes to the Sheikh
and he starts, you know, shaking his hand.
The Sheikh takes his time out. He's giving
him salams. He He takes a little sweet
out, and he gives it to the kids.
And you could see, Mawaddah, the love that
the Sheikh was, you know, showing to this
child.
Also, Anas Amariq, radiAllahu ta'ala Ani said.
I never saw anyone who showed more mercy
to young kids and children than the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam. And today we might just
disregard them. Put them to the side.
What is the reward of returning the salam?
Remember brothers, I talked about just doing very
small simple actions and what you could do.
Every word, phrase in this salaam you are
getting 10 rewards.
Ibrahim Al Khasayna radiAllahu ta'ala Anhuma, qalajaarajanabisallallahu
alaihi wa sallamu
alaykum Farad alaihi.
A man came to the prophet salallahu alayhi
wasalam and he says salallam alayhi.
Then this man he sat down.
He said 10.
This man says salaam alaikum and he sat
down and he said prophet then replied and
he said 10.
Then another man came. Then
another person came and said, Assalamu Alaikum Warahmatullah.
He done more than the first one. Right?
He said Warahmatullah this individual.
So the Prophet responded back to him, and
then he sat down. The Prophet then said,
Ishrun 20.
Then a third person came.
Farad dah alayhi. Then the prophet responded back
to him,
then he sat down.
30 rewards for this individual.
Something that might take less than
not even a second.
You're getting 30 reward, and you're just accumulating
all these rewards.
Is
it permissible
to give
salaam to women?
And
he sat down to,
give what for this salaam to the other
one?
Because brothers and sisters, you might be wondering,
okay, how is he just even talking about
this is something perfectly normal? We sit with
women all the time. They're in our class.
We walk in, we say hi and then
we say bye and, you know, it just
becomes something part of culture.
But brothers and sisters,
as salaam
that a young, good looking,
handsome guy gives to a young sister
could be the beginning of a chain of
filthy thoughts
that starts going through her mind.
Mahroof Hala.
Walks past, assalamu alaikum, smiles in her face.
Love is blind, guys.
She's thinking about him. That smile that he
gave.
There's guys who pull
women with their smile.
But in fact, they just smiled in her
face.
So You Tajilah Hakam.
The scholars, they say, Yajuzu Salamu Al Nisa'il
Muharim.
You know your maharam,
like your sister, your mother.
Those who, you know, you're allowed to be
alone with and that could, you know, they
don't need to wear the hijab in front
of you. You're allowed to give them a
salam without a shadow of a doubt. Like
your aunties,
you can sit with her. You're allowed to
be secluded with her and so on and
so forth.
For your Jews
It is permissible
to give salam to the opposite gender
in a case where you feel like you're
going to be safe from fitna.
And to most young brothers and sisters, it
is not recommended.
It is not recommended due to the Mafasir
that comes out of it. Like, for
example,
15 year old kid,
some 50 year old
Hoyoyan
and a year old comes past and he
said, Mohammed, say it. And she's going on.
He doesn't blanca and go past her.
Rather, you know, returns to salam. Of course,
Yani,
it's very highly unlikely
that this young 15 year old who's got
his whole life ahead of him is going
to start having this force about
doing stuff with a 60 year old woman.
I'm sure most of you will agree. Alayhis
Kadelik.
As for Ivo, you know, she's like the
same age. He smiles in her face. She
gives salaam to him.
If you are free from fitna. But in
most case brothers don't say, oh, you know,
the teacher in the Masjid, they said we
could go to give salam to one another.
Allahu Allah. I'm not saying that. We're talking
about in these cases where a person is
safe. And very highly,
likely, there's not gonna be any fitna that
takes place.
As for giving salam
to women who are ajani by shaking their
hands.
This is not permissible in totality.
Prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam himself he said,
I
never shake the hand of a woman.
Ma messat yadur Rasoolillahi sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
The
Prophet, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
never shook the hand
of a lady except a woman that was
Halal for him, or someone that, you know,
he had responsibility
over.
Prophet said in another hadith,
That an iron,
that an iron needle is brought
and is stuffed in your head.
It is better for you than to touch
a woman that is not lawful for you.
Someone's going to ask the question now, okay
what about, you know, when we go for
work interviews, you know, she puts her hand
up, and then I gotta shake it, and
so on and so forth.
Well, my brothers and sisters, there's been many
practicing brothers
who respectfully told the lady, I'm really sorry,
but my religion says to me that I
can't shake your hand. And they always got
their jobs. Why? Because it caused the lady
to respect you more.
Sometimes we think to ourselves, okay, if I
do this, it's going to cause me not
to get that job. She's not going to
like me, so on and so forth.
And the Shaitans whispering that,
you know, threatening us with poverty.
I always mention this ata, I'm going to
mention it again. Hasan al Basir
said, I read in 90 places.
90 places in the Quran that Allah
He
decreed and guaranteed you provision job. She's not
gonna like me.
And I read in one place in the
Quran. And the shaytan,
you know, you have with a nasa bil
fakar.
I read in one place that the shaytan,
he scares the people of poverty. What's that
verse? Who can guess?
The shaytan scares you with poverty.
Sometimes, rather, there's a taqwa that you have.
A taqwa that you have. The fact that
you fear Allah
in secret and also in public,
where your zukum min haytulahihtasib,
he will provide for you from where you
don't expect.
There will be times she's going to think
that you're an absolute nutcase for not shaking
a hand, but there's many who understand.
As many who understand, inshallah,
we get a chance.
I'm gonna go through, inshaAllah ta'ala, 20, you
know, different means of how to increase your
provision.
Maybe later on, InshaAllah Ta'ala.
Allah?
Is that it?
We haven't even reached the second point yet.
There's no other 9 remaining. 9 InshaAllah, we're
gonna finish it. I think I need 1
more, bidniallahu ta'ala.
I think the basmana and going through this
took a bit of time. Hazduram Masa'il.
But, we should be able to finish the
other ones in the next lesson. On the
other lesson, we'll find we'll make some time
inshallah. Tomorrow, we've got, like,
7 different lessons for Usul al Sita. Most
likely to finish it maybe 3, 4, but
we'll get these books done, Bani alayhta'ala. We
haven't even, naham.
What is the next lesson? InshaAllah, we're gonna
finish. The next lesson is in 10 minutes.
Okay. The next lesson is in 10 minutes,
InshaAllah, ta'ala.
