Abu Taymiyyah – Are You More Poor Than The Prophet

Also guys what I wanted to speak about

today was the issue of a sadaqah.

Al Mutamil

fihayatin abi sallallahu alaihi wasallam, the guy who

contemplates on, you know, the haya, the life

of the Prophet

will see that he was a very poor

person.

He wasn't the richest of them.

You know, one time Aisha radiAllahu ta'ala Anha,

she said,

once upon a time the Prophet entered upon

us.

He said,

do you have anything?

The Prophet sallallahu alaihi,

Aisha radhiallahu ta'ala she replied back and she

said,

we don't have anything inside the house

so he said so today I'm going to

fast.

There would be times he wakes up guys

and there's nothing in the

house. Have we ever, like, woken up and

we checked our fridges and there's nothing in

there?

The most we'll find is, you know, small

amounts of food inside the kitchen or, you

know, inside the fridge.

There will be times the prophet woke up

and had nothing. Even one time

as he came to Sahih al Bukhari,

the Prophet

Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, he left his home.

And then he ended up meeting Abu Bakr

So

he said,

what was the reason as to why you

left the home?

So he said,

So what's the point of me mentioning these

narrations?

Am I trying to encourage the people to

be poor in the month of Ramadan

and not to gain a, you know,

a living,

not to work,

and not to go and, you know,

to go and search for his provision.

But even though the prophet

was so poor,

Ibn Abbas, he told us in hadith.

He was from the most generous of people.

And he would be more generous

in the month of Ramadan when Jibril used

to come to him.

And he would be more quicker,

you know, to give

sadaqa, to pay charity,

then how the,

the riha, the wind comes and it blows

past you.

When the wind comes, does it come slowly

crawling? La, of course it doesn't.

Comes very quickly and he passes by.

The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam was quicker than

that.

You know,

an example that ibn Abbas radhiallahu ta'ala anhu

is trying to give.

From the poorest of them and at the

same time he would never say no.
