will be happy be sure my dear respected brothers and sisters,
our dear friends our other ma Nice to be here with you tonight, masha
Allah all of these people turned out in sha Allah to help our
brothers and sisters in Syria. Truly a worthy cause a lamb with
so much blessing, the Hadith that I just recited, related from
Jabra, the Allah one, Jabra the Allahu Anhu says that Rasulullah
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that Allah says, Allah says that
this is the deen This is the faith and the religion that I have
chosen for myself. It is the religion that I have chosen to be
designated to me. And he gave some advice. He said, there are two
things by which this been and this religion becomes well, it becomes
excellent, it becomes good for the person, aside from all of the
follow up, and the obligations that were obligated to do, there
are two things that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa Salam is
saying that Allah is saying that men if they do these two things,
then their fate will be excellent. And what are those two things?
Those two things is a Sahara or hollow. Sahara is generosity, open
heartedness, open handedness, and good character. These are the two
things that go along with a person's worship that go along
with a person's worship.
In fact, if you think about it, from Allah as Nirvana in this
world, Allah subhanho wa Taala has beautiful
system in this world that led Imam Ghazali to say that this world
could not have been better than it is the way the world is. And its
system. It could not have been any better than this, because this is
the work of Allah. Part of that system, is that there is open
heartedness and generosity, which is the open which is the opposite
of miserliness, stinginess and tight heartedness. If there was no
generosity in this world, I doubt there would be any poor people,
Allah subhanaw taala would not have made people suffer like this,
if there wasn't a way to extract them out of it. There's always
opposites that Allah subhanaw taala has created this world in so
because there's generosity, there is all people so the people who
are generous, who want to be generous, who try to be generous,
who want to make themselves generous, then they're able to
express that generosity and open up their hearts. The most generous
being is Allah subhanho wa taala. Allah subhanho wa Taala gives to
everybody one and all, to his friends and to his detractors, to
his close ones, and to those who run away from him who deny Him who
blaspheme him who reject him, Allah subhanaw taala gives to all
of those people. Allah subhanaw taala is karimun is Java don't
Allah subhanho wa Taala is the giver. He is the benevolent one
and he is completely open handed in his giving.
After him comes the one who is the closest to him, the one who is the
most exalted, and that's why Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa
Salam is the most exalted being in terms of his generosity after
Allah subhanho wa taala. You listen to a hadith of the Shama
and in which the Sahaba even are busted your loved one who says
that the prophets of Allah who are the US citizens generosity, like
was loads like the wind was like the wind, it goes everywhere, how
does wind when finds its place everywhere, when find this place
to anything, wherever it is, and that's how air that Allah, the
prophets of Allah, some sincerity was of that nature. It was far
reaching, it was for one and all. After that it will be with it will
be for those who have prophetic qualities.
Those who are trying to gain prophetic qualities
The character of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, the
sublime character, then they will acquire generosity in the same
way. The reason why I choose this topic is because generosity is the
opposite of stingy Enos. And I'm going to be a bit open, if you
don't mind. But what experiences shows is that there's a lot of
miserliness in the world. There's a lot of stinginess in the world.
And unfortunately, so it is also among people who consider
themselves righteous, virtuous and pious. It's also among those
people as well, because there is no focus in our communities on
eradicating books on eradicating miserliness. We have great focus
in making sure people pray in make sure people cover and doing other
good deeds. We talk about charity, but we don't talk about buckle. We
don't talk about stinginess. And that's why we have so many types
of excuses through experience will show you if you go to somebody,
somebody comes to an individual to borrow money, or to take money for
relief organization, or for good cause for the masjid, madrasah,
organization, Institute, whatever it may be, the kind of excuses
that you listen to are kind of interesting. You have many people
who are pious and who are mashallah Sufi, and generous as
well. But yet you have a number of other people who are not so
despite the fact that they consider themselves to be pious,
and they pray and they do everything else. Oh, I just spent
my money on this and that I've just bought this house, I've just
put my money here, oh, I just gave 2000 to the other person who came
to collect. This is the reaction of many of us what we need to be
really thinking, and it's not I mean, there's nothing wrong with
making an excuse. If you have an excuse. You don't have the money
and you're giving your money away. It's understandable. There's
nothing wrong with making an excuse. What is the problem? Is
that? Are we sincere in our excuse? Do we really not have
money? Or is that just an excuse to make the person feel good? Or
to make them not feel bad on us that oh, I've just given this
much. So I must not have anything. But we do have something? We do
have something? Or if we did have and we don't have right now would
we have given? These are the questions a person must ask
themselves. There are individuals as well, on the other hand, who
one individual, a person came to him to borrow money. And he said
to him, you know, you've come at such a, it's such a bad time. And
he felt so embarrassed. He said, I've just made a purchase. I've
just made a purchase, and I've had to borrow and so on and so forth.
But he goes, Don't worry about it. Because you've come to me, I don't
want to let you down, I will get you some money. I will get you
some money. Because he has so much self dignity. He has so much self
dignity and self integrity, that if somebody is coming to me for
money, even if I don't have I'm going to take from somebody else
to give it to you. Because you have come with a hope in me. And I
don't want to dish your hopes.
Even if you can't give too much you give a bit.
When we visited Mauritania in earlier this year, this is where I
saw true hospitality and generosity, we would turn up at a
place in the villages in the body or in the Bedouin lands outside of
the city. And pretty much most of Mauritania is like that, we would
turn up there and believe me, the there will be less light, less
light in the rooms than we have here. We don't have much here. But
they'd be less lightness. They're just about managing managing to
run one single 40 watt bulb from the solar power that they got
during the day. That's how much it is. Can you imagine running a
refrigerator there? There is no fridge down there in those valleys
in those villages. However, we would get there we got to one
place just before we perform and we wanted to visit the shape, but
they wouldn't let us visit the shapes. They kept making us wait
and wait and wait. It was only later we discovered the reason
they're making us wait to visit the shape is so they could feed us
first if we had visited the scholar there. And then after that
we would have just left than they would have been left without their
hospitality. What did we get for our supper that day? We got
freshly cooked meat. Freshly cooked meat. Where did this meat
come from? They have no fruit. They have no fridge. They have no
freezer. MashAllah Gujrati homes here were stocked up for two
months, our Gujrati homes mashallah we know we have to have
a normal refrigerator and then you also have to have another separate
freezer. Tell me which family they are doesn't have a separate
freezer as well. You know, for all the extra things inshallah there's
no war in this country. But if there was something that happened
we
Do you probably okay for about two months, right? Except maybe the
milk or something like that. In fact, there's people who freeze
milk as well.
Anyway,
fresh meat, they will. And so what I discovered was, there is no
there's no butcher shop there, there's no refrigerator. What they
did was they went outside, they grab the goat, and they sacrificed
it. And you know, the, you know, the best thing is they it probably
wasn't even their goat. It was somebody else's goat that they
borrowed. We'll borrow your goat because we have guests and then
they'll give it back to them. That's why you got hospitality.
And you know, another thing is, for us, I'm just waiting for that
biryani to come because I want to see if there's more meat in there
than rice. Because mashallah our BDRs today in programs, we're
looking for the rice, whereas before it used to be looking for
the meat. And you know, these people when they feed you meat,
it's a delicacy. It is a video honey, it's special. The normal
diet is like the diet of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi
wasallam the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was a semi
vegetarian. The Prophet sallallahu sallam was a semi vegetarian.
And he used to go for days days days without meals nevermind meat.
Yes, when we came, he used to eat like a man.
He used to eat like a man when the meat came. So he wasn't a vegan
vegetarian, but he was a semi vegetarian. So meat was a
delicacy. And the prophets of Allah Islam says in a hadith
related by Imam Malik in his motto, that meat to be careful
about meat because meat for in that Odawa Tanaka Dharawal hamara
meat has an addiction just like wine has an addiction and tell me
if that's wrong. Tell me which of you tell your wives off when they
make vegetables? Why didn't you put some chicken in there? Why
don't you put meat in there.
There are so many of us who have even maybe a vegetarian dish it
has to be it has to be flavored with meat. Let us start with
having a few days of just vegetables. As bad as that sounds
Alhamdulillah we've managed to we managed to incorporate this in my
house we have at least one to two days a week minimum without
without meat. We need to do this because this is an addiction Imam
Imam Ghazali says that 40 days consecutively eating meat hardens
your hearts. The doctors will tell you it biologically hardens your
heart cardiac problems, but Imam Ghazali is speaking about the
spiritual hearts. spiritual heart. Imam Omar the Allahu Anhu he
confronted somebody and he was surprised. Oh, you guys eat meat
whenever you want it. coolmuster Hadees straight. Every time you
desire it, you buy it. You were surprised. Anyway, let's get off
the meat issue. All I was trying to say is that today is the day to
spend to redeem ourselves for our indulgences. Well actually rather
than taking negatively to me give Thanks to ALLAH for what He's
given us. We cannot complain. Believe me, we cannot complain. We
have just had starters, we have just had starters, that is more
than the meal that a Syrian man may get today. I saw a clip in
which to Syrian children Allahu Akbar, he brought tears to my eyes
to Syrian children as just as a matter of routine, they were
picking through the dust in the streets. They were picking you
couldn't even see anything in there. And somebody the reporter
takes the camera and says What are you doing? And as they're going
along? They're like, Oh, we're picking crumbs of bread crumbs of
bread. And you can't even see any bread. They're they're literally
small combs they're picking just like this just like this. There
was one man who was eating cardboard. Cardboard, because
that's the only thing you get. Our starters are luxurious, masha
Allah, we must thank Allah. We're not saying give that up. We're
saying thank Allah be grateful to Allah by helping others.
Bukal runs in the blood, sometimes Sahaba and generosity also runs in
the blood. For some people, it's easier to give, they're willing to
give even if it's the last penny they have. And yet there's other
people who cannot give even if they have huge amounts. Islam is
here. Islam is here to regulate us, to make us give according to
what the Sharia wants us to give and according to what common
decency dictates that we give. So for example, this is a story
related about this particular individual called Sheikh Hashem.
Sheikh Hashem was on a journey alone in in, in the deserts in the
hot deserts. It was asked they would travel off the moon, travel
of the future, and he got to a place at peak noon, the sun is
beating down and he is so tired and he sees a tent. He goes to
this tent and there's only a woman there. And this woman she
Is there he says, Oh, my sister, I am very, very hungry. I'm a
traveler. I'm from such and such area. Can you feed me, please? And
this woman? She She says, What do you think this is some kind of
hotel or something. There's some kind of restaurant. You know, we
don't provide things for strangers. We don't care who you
are. So the poor man, can you imagine how dejected he must have
felt he went and sat under a tree just to because there was no way
he could have carried on his energy was lost completely, just
after a short while as he's resting there. The man comes
along, the husband comes along, and he sees him sitting there and
he's saying, What are you doing here? He says, Oh, I'm a stranger
from such and such a place. And I'm waiting. You know, I'm
relaxing here for Have you eaten? He says, No, I haven't eaten. I
did ask for some food. And so the man goes to his wife says, Why
didn't you feed him? So she says, what what do you think this is I
have to keep feeding everybody that you bring home is this kind
of kind of restaurant or something?
The man said to her, you let me down all the time. You embarrass
me. You degreed me, you humiliate me all the time. He went outside,
grab the goats, he sacrificed it had it cooked, he fed this man and
he then he kept apologizing. And then he thanked him for being his
guest. It's an honor an absolute honor than the man carried on,
check Hashem carried on. He carried on the next day, it was
the same thing. He at noon, time again became extremely hungry.
And he comes upon this another tent. So again, he goes there, and
there's a woman there again, and he says, Oh, sister helped me out.
I'm hungry. I need food. I am from such and such a place. I am a
stranger. This one says absolutely this Mila Alhamdulillah. Allah
sent you absolutely no problem. She goes out. She sacrifices the
goat. She cooks it skins, it cooks, it brings it out to him.
And he's eating as he's just taken one or two, look, my one or two
morsels from this. The husband comes along, the husband comes
along and he suddenly becomes red with rage. Who is this man? Who
are you? Who are you? Oh, I'm a stranger. Where do you get this
meat from? Oh, you're good wife. She cooked this for you. He goes
into his house. He says to his wife, what are you doing? You're
gonna make us poor, you're going to leave us with nothing. We're
going to end up with nothing. This is you always do this. You're
always cooking for people, and so on and so forth. So as he's saying
this with this redness in his face this shake Hashem he suddenly
cannot help laughing. He's amused because he's looking at yesterday,
and he's looking at today. So this man suddenly turns around him
angry. And he says to him, What? Why are you laughing? What's the
problem? He says, I can't help laughing. Yesterday, I had the
totally opposite experience. I was at this particular place. And
there was this tent, and there was a man and his wife, and this is
what happened. So you know this man. He says to him angrily he
says yes, I know those people. That woman there is my sister.
And her husband is my wife's brother.
It runs in the blood.
It runs in the blood. All I'm trying to do by this is trying to
make us understand each individual one of us. Are we stingy?
Or do we give? Are we stingy? Or do or do we have Sahaba? Do we
have generosity? Because there is a cure for stinginess, all is not
lost. There's a cure for stinginess. I mean, I can tell you
I was stingy. I'm still stingy. But the cure for it is to give one
day close your eyes, take out 1000 pounds and just give it as bad and
difficult as that sounds. The next time 1000 will be easy. And the
best part of it. The prophets of Allah Islam said Monica Sama,
lumen sadaqa. Well, wealth does not decrease by sadhaka. To
believe in that you must have trust in Allah. Only a true
believer is going to believe in that for him when he's giving
thinking I'm gonna get it back. This is an investment. And you
know, this is the smartest investment you can make. What do I
mean by smart? I mean, smart, technologically, it's such an
investment that you give it, Allah will track its progress. Allah
will track its benefits, as many people does that add benefits and
everything that is created from there, you give to somebody, a
creator, they build a masjid, they build an orphanage, the people who
pray in there, the people who benefit from that you get rewards
from so your dividends are coming in, your dividends are coming and
so, ALLAH SubhanA it's such smart sadaqa that everything is being
tracked. It's almost like it has a chip in there, and it will reveal
where it has been. It's got a GPS in there, it will reveal where he
has been on the day of judgment. And when a person sees this,
that's when they will be satisfied.
Now,
if you give some if you if you in this world, if you want evidence
that you have faith, then give sadaqa because the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, A sadaqa to Bohan charity is a
proof of a believer. Hadith of Muslim, if you want cure from
diseases. If you have too much illness in your home, you want to
remedy them. This is what the Prophet sallallahu sallam said
He said Dharwar mandala mandala can be sadaqa Hadith basically
that cure your cure your sick people with sadaqa that's another
benefit of sadaqa. If you want Allah to place you on the in the
shade on the Day of Judgment, then again the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam said could numerate it could luminary in
field witness of the party he had you fossil had your fossil
bananas, everybody will be in the shade of their sadaqa until the
decision is made of where people are going, if you want a good
time, a good waiting place in the hereafter give sadaqa if you want
to extinguish the anger of Allah subhana wa Tada. You have
committed sin or you think you've committed sin, or you think
there's calamities coming upon you and you want to come the anger of
Allah, get him on your side, invoke his love, then give sadaqa
because the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said Hadith
Dharani saw that but acidity, two three ohada Rob, that charity
which is given discreetly it comes down the anger of Allah subhanaw
taala if you want Allah to love you, the Prophet sallallahu sallam
said it Allah Allah azza wa jal, Suren to the healer who are Muslim
in our attack ship and who could have gotten our duck the annual
day in and out that to do and who do and what an M Shi ma he Hagerty
he has an attack if you haven't missed GD Sharon, as top Ronnie
relates the prophets Allah some said the best of actions to to
Allah subhanahu wa taala is happiness that you will enter into
somebody's heart that you will bring somebody's hard, the
difficulty you will remove from them, the the debt you will repay
on their behalf.
The hunger that you will that you will quench and that I work with
my brother to fulfill a write of his superior to me is superior to
Me and more beloved to me than the I make ethical for a month in this
Masjid. This one the prophets of the Lord isms. If you want your
risk and your sustenance and you want baraka to be showered and
showered upon you and you want Allah's blessings, give sadaqa yum
have to Allah or riba where you will be sadaqat Allah eliminates
usury and he magnifies he increases sadaqa and charity. If
you want to attain piety and Dakhla you give sadaqa Allah says
Londoner will turn to a boon walmartone ficou when che in Allah
here, you cannot gain true piety unless you stand up that what you
love. And today if you want to understand whether you love the
world more or the more just think about how much you love your money
and whether you're willing to give your money or not. Whether you're
willing to give a chunk of your money for the sake of Allah
subhana wa Tada if you want the doors of Divine Mercy to open for
you. If you want the mercy of Allah to shower upon you. Then
again ALLAH SubhanA wa Tada the Prophet sallallahu sallam said in
a humble, humble era he Munna Your humble humble Rockman you may you
be merciful to others, you will be treated with mercy because the
Most Merciful One, the Most Merciful One has mercy on those
who are mercy full to others.
If you want to continue attaining reward and make an investment for
after he after your death, then you give sadaqa because the
prophets of Allah Islam said when a human dies, then there's only a
few things that he will continue to benefit from. And one of them
is sadaqa. jariya is the perpetual perpetual charity that you start
and you make that kind of investment. If you want your sins
raised again, you give sadaqa and your sins will be erased. Allah
subhana the Prophet salallahu Alaihe Salam said in a hadith
Dharani sadaqa, two to three, healthy karma youthful ma na that
sadaqa and charity extinguishes and it removes sins just like
water removes Fire, Water extinguishers fire.
If you want to be protected from being overcome with harm and evil
you give sadaqa because the prophets of Allah Hardison said
again, a hadith Torani Sana, a OLMA roof to converse Toka Mossad
is Su, that if you do good deeds to others, then it will protect
you from being overwhelmed by evil. And finally, if you want to
purify your hearts and yourself, then you give sadaqa because Allah
subhanaw taala says, Who mean I'm wearing him solder cotton to the
hero Vaughn what is the key him behind that take from them sadaqa
get from them sadaqa by which, by which you will, you will purify
them, you will verify them purify their hearts. So in order to
finish today, today is the time to give. Today is the time to give.
Tomorrow is a time to either feel satisfied and reap your profits.
I'll give you an example of something that is very close to
home for us. We are living in this great city of London, which also
happens to be the most expensive city in terms of property in the
world. We probably have numerous property magnets sitting here and
we probably have many who are feeling like they've
Last the boats, they were waiting for the bubble to burst. And now
the prices have doubled. Put your hands up if you like that mean,
don't put them up. But there are people who are like this. And now
they're feeling sorry that the house was 500. Now it's gone up to
a million if only and there's some people who didn't have the money,
but could have got the money together if they focus if they got
it right. And there's other people who, who had the money, but they
were so busy in their business, that they didn't look at this
business. And today they are crying. Now, if you're crying
today, if you're feeling a sense of loss, that you the bubble has
not burst. And it just seems to be going up in sha Allah, Allah do
something, Allah do something. But according to today, he imagined on
the Day of Judgment, on the Day of Judgment. Imagine the same
scenario on the Day of Judgment. When you feel left out, when you
feel that the car has moved, and you got left behind that it will
be worse on the Day of Judgment. Because Allah He gave us Iman, he
gave us reminders. The Promise of Allah why you sent him gave us
reminders. And if we don't take that, then on the day of judgment,
we're going to feel worse than missing the property boom, that's
going to be a worse that's going to be a worse sense of loss. Allah
protect us from that loss on that day, allow us to give today.
That's why there's a final Hadith that I mentioned to you that's
related from Imam Muslim imam to Medina, saya and others it comes
in two ways. The Prophet sallallahu sallam said one thing,
he said,
When the human being you're gonna have no Adam, man, money, money,
money. The human is always saying, This is my wealth. This is my
wealth, this is my wealth. But the Prophet sallallahu sallam said,
You have no Adam, oh Children of Adam Adams children. He says, Oh
Children of Adam, me. Your wealth is only that which you've already
eaten. Your wealth is only that which you've worn in your
clothing, your wealth is only that which You gave sadaqa and you sent
it forth. Then in another Hadith he mentions, there are many people
among us that his the inheritors wealth is more beloved to them
than their own wealth. So the Sahaba said, how can that be
possible? All of us love our wealth, more than our inheritance?
Well, we don't even think about our inheritance. Well, so the
Prophet sallallahu said there was something very wise, he said,
For in a motorhome or woman.
Your wealth is only what you send forward, you invest in the
Hereafter, and the wealth of your wife and your inheritance is what
you leave behind. We're not saying leave your inheritance deprived,
but we're saying do something for ourselves. May Allah subhanaw
taala give us the Tofik May Allah give us a Tofik May Allah give us
the Tofik Abdul Rahman Lipner was a billionaire. His trade caravan
when it came back when it came back after its expedition, it was
so large and he made so much noise that I inserted the hola Juana
sitting in her house felt that an army had come in said what is
this? This is a doorman in our house trade caravan it says
business all of his animals with all the merchandise and
everything. So she remarked one thing she said you know the
prophets of the Lord isn't said Adorama live now is going to have
to go into Jana on his knees. This news reached out the romantic
mouth And subhanAllah he said yes, I talked to the celluloid and the
Rosa Rossum encouraged me to give sadaqa you know what he did? That
entire caravan. He gave him the path of Allah just on that, how
could he do that? How could he do that? I was stunned when I saw
that the way he did it was because his wealth was no way in his
heart. It was in his hands. He had huge amounts of wealth, but he was
holding his hands. It hadn't gotten to his heart. Let us keep
our wealth that Allah has given us in our hands. May Allah give us
more. May Allah give us more but May Allah not allow it to enter
our hearts because May Allah keep our hearts for him for the akhira
Allah subhanho wa Taala help us and assist us. Well, I can read
that one and in hamdulillah
