00:00:00 --> 00:00:02
			We begin by praising Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala

00:00:02 --> 00:00:04
			and by bearing witness that none has the

00:00:04 --> 00:00:07
			right to be worshipped or unconditionally obeyed except

00:00:07 --> 00:00:07
			for him.

00:00:08 --> 00:00:10
			And we bear witness that Muhammad sallallahu alayhi

00:00:10 --> 00:00:11
			wasallam is his final messenger.

00:00:12 --> 00:00:13
			We ask Allah to send his peace and

00:00:13 --> 00:00:16
			blessings upon him, the prophets and messengers that

00:00:16 --> 00:00:19
			came before him, his family and companions that

00:00:19 --> 00:00:21
			served alongside him and those that followed in

00:00:21 --> 00:00:23
			his blessed path until the day of judgment.

00:00:23 --> 00:00:25
			And we ask Allah to make us amongst

00:00:25 --> 00:00:25
			them, Allahumma ameen.

00:00:26 --> 00:00:30
			We're all waiting for the promise of Allah.

00:00:31 --> 00:00:33
			But how many promises have we actually made

00:00:33 --> 00:00:34
			to Allah?

00:00:35 --> 00:00:38
			Everyone asks when will Allah fulfill the promise

00:00:38 --> 00:00:40
			that he has made to this ummah?

00:00:40 --> 00:00:42
			When will Allah fulfill the promise that he

00:00:42 --> 00:00:45
			has made to me should I abide by

00:00:45 --> 00:00:46
			this set of conditions?

00:00:47 --> 00:00:51
			But have we fulfilled the many promises we

00:00:51 --> 00:00:54
			have made throughout our lives at certain junctures

00:00:54 --> 00:00:56
			to Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala?

00:00:57 --> 00:00:59
			Dear brothers and sisters, when you look in

00:00:59 --> 00:01:01
			the seerah of the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam

00:01:01 --> 00:01:03
			and his blessed biography and the biographies of

00:01:03 --> 00:01:06
			his companions, one of the things that you

00:01:06 --> 00:01:09
			always find is that for every hero, there

00:01:09 --> 00:01:13
			is a parallel villain, meaning there is a

00:01:13 --> 00:01:16
			person who reached their full potential and then

00:01:16 --> 00:01:18
			there is someone who was full of potential

00:01:18 --> 00:01:21
			but because of the deviation in their hearts

00:01:21 --> 00:01:23
			and because of the diseases in their hearts,

00:01:24 --> 00:01:25
			they took a different path.

00:01:25 --> 00:01:28
			The most obvious one that we speak about

00:01:28 --> 00:01:31
			because the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam included them

00:01:31 --> 00:01:34
			in a singular supplication with Umar ibn al

00:01:34 --> 00:01:37
			-Khattab radiallahu ta'ala anhu and Amir ibn

00:01:37 --> 00:01:39
			Hisham, Abu Jahl, when the prophet sallallahu alayhi

00:01:39 --> 00:01:41
			wasallam said, Allahumma izzal Islam, O Allah give

00:01:41 --> 00:01:44
			victory to Islam, Bi haq al-umarain ilayk,

00:01:44 --> 00:01:46
			with the more beloved of the two Umars

00:01:46 --> 00:01:51
			to you because Abu Jahl had potential but

00:01:51 --> 00:01:54
			he took the route of becoming the Pharaoh

00:01:54 --> 00:01:57
			of this Ummah, the Firaun of this Ummah,

00:01:57 --> 00:02:00
			whereas Umar radiallahu ta'ala anhu became an

00:02:00 --> 00:02:04
			emblem, a symbol of what just rulership looks

00:02:04 --> 00:02:07
			like, a leader who found his full potential.

00:02:08 --> 00:02:12
			But one of the lesser known parallels is

00:02:12 --> 00:02:17
			the parallel to Waraqa ibn Naufal radiallahu ta

00:02:17 --> 00:02:21
			'ala anhu, Waraqa was a biblical scholar before

00:02:21 --> 00:02:23
			the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam arrived.

00:02:24 --> 00:02:27
			He was someone who had studied the Torah

00:02:27 --> 00:02:28
			and the Injil.

00:02:29 --> 00:02:31
			He is someone who had studied the lives

00:02:31 --> 00:02:34
			of the prophets of Bani Israel from Abraham

00:02:34 --> 00:02:37
			to David to Jesus, peace be upon them

00:02:37 --> 00:02:37
			all.

00:02:37 --> 00:02:40
			He studied it all and he waited for

00:02:40 --> 00:02:44
			the moment of the arrival of the foretold

00:02:44 --> 00:02:47
			prophets in so many biblical scriptures, the foretold

00:02:47 --> 00:02:50
			prophet that had tribes from people of the

00:02:50 --> 00:02:53
			book stayed out in Medina waiting for him

00:02:53 --> 00:02:58
			sallallahu alayhi wasallam, the foretold prophet whom priests

00:02:58 --> 00:03:01
			in Damascus, in Syria waited for and in

00:03:01 --> 00:03:02
			Palestine waited for.

00:03:03 --> 00:03:06
			And when the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam arrived,

00:03:06 --> 00:03:08
			we know the story and I'll get to

00:03:08 --> 00:03:08
			the end of it.

00:03:09 --> 00:03:12
			He recognizes the messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi

00:03:12 --> 00:03:15
			wasallam, but he was already at the end

00:03:15 --> 00:03:17
			of his life and he knew it and

00:03:17 --> 00:03:19
			you can imagine how many times he had

00:03:19 --> 00:03:21
			rehearsed in his mind and in his heart

00:03:21 --> 00:03:24
			that if the prophet of Allah that has

00:03:24 --> 00:03:28
			been foretold in the scriptures, يَعِفُونَهُمْ كَمَا يَعِفُونَ

00:03:28 --> 00:03:31
			أَبْنَاءَهُمْ They know him like one of you

00:03:31 --> 00:03:33
			would know their own children.

00:03:33 --> 00:03:35
			There's no mistake in identity with your children.

00:03:36 --> 00:03:38
			That if I live to see this man

00:03:38 --> 00:03:41
			and I am a part of his advent,

00:03:41 --> 00:03:43
			then I will support him with everything that

00:03:43 --> 00:03:44
			I have.

00:03:44 --> 00:03:47
			Can you imagine how he felt then when

00:03:47 --> 00:03:49
			the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam arrives at his

00:03:49 --> 00:03:53
			door as the messenger of God and he

00:03:53 --> 00:03:54
			can't even stand up anymore.

00:03:55 --> 00:03:56
			He's walking on a cane.

00:03:56 --> 00:03:59
			He doesn't have any energy and he says

00:03:59 --> 00:04:04
			to the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam immediately لَيْتَنِي

00:04:04 --> 00:04:09
			كُنْتُ حَيًّا إِذْ يُخْرِجُكْ لِقَالْهُكْ I wish I

00:04:09 --> 00:04:10
			was alive when your people run you out.

00:04:11 --> 00:04:14
			I wish I was young.

00:04:14 --> 00:04:17
			لَيْتَنِي كُنْتُ شَابًا I wish I was young.

00:04:17 --> 00:04:20
			فِيهَا جَدْعْ I wish I had the energy

00:04:20 --> 00:04:23
			that when your people inevitably run you out

00:04:23 --> 00:04:26
			the way they ran out every prophet that

00:04:26 --> 00:04:27
			came before you.

00:04:27 --> 00:04:29
			I could be there to support you.

00:04:31 --> 00:04:34
			And he was truthful and that indeed he

00:04:34 --> 00:04:37
			would not live except for a few days

00:04:37 --> 00:04:41
			after recognizing the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam and

00:04:41 --> 00:04:43
			the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam was asked about

00:04:43 --> 00:04:46
			waratah about his state and the prophet sallallahu

00:04:46 --> 00:04:50
			alayhi wasallam said إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ لَهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ

00:04:50 --> 00:04:52
			I have seen for him in Jannah a

00:04:52 --> 00:04:55
			Jannah or Jannatan a degree of paradise or

00:04:55 --> 00:04:58
			two levels of paradise reserved for him and

00:04:58 --> 00:05:01
			the two levels of paradise as some of

00:05:01 --> 00:05:03
			the scholars mentioned is what was mentioned for

00:05:03 --> 00:05:05
			the people of the book who believed in

00:05:05 --> 00:05:07
			Moses and believed in Jesus peace be upon

00:05:07 --> 00:05:09
			them and then completed their belief by believing

00:05:09 --> 00:05:13
			in Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam that he comes

00:05:13 --> 00:05:14
			from that background.

00:05:15 --> 00:05:17
			Some of them said that perhaps it was

00:05:17 --> 00:05:20
			the intention that he had that Allah rewarded

00:05:20 --> 00:05:22
			him for his prior belief and what he

00:05:22 --> 00:05:24
			would have done had he lived to be

00:05:24 --> 00:05:26
			with the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam even in

00:05:26 --> 00:05:28
			the days of hijrah waratah in his mind

00:05:28 --> 00:05:30
			knew I would walk out on I would

00:05:30 --> 00:05:31
			do the hijrah with the prophet sallallahu alayhi

00:05:31 --> 00:05:31
			wasallam.

00:05:32 --> 00:05:33
			I would take the beatings for the prophet

00:05:33 --> 00:05:35
			sallallahu alayhi wasallam but he didn't live long

00:05:35 --> 00:05:35
			enough.

00:05:36 --> 00:05:37
			There's a parallel villain.

00:05:37 --> 00:05:40
			His name is Abu Amir al-Rahim.

00:05:42 --> 00:05:45
			He was in Medina a man who was

00:05:45 --> 00:05:49
			deeply studied in the scriptures a man who

00:05:49 --> 00:05:51
			knew that a prophet was to come and

00:05:51 --> 00:05:53
			he aligned himself to Abdullah bin Ubaid bin

00:05:53 --> 00:05:56
			Salul the chief hypocrite who was on his

00:05:56 --> 00:05:58
			way to be the leader of Medina for

00:05:58 --> 00:06:00
			purely materialistic reasons.

00:06:01 --> 00:06:02
			Their kids were married to each other and

00:06:02 --> 00:06:04
			I'll talk about them inshallah time a little

00:06:04 --> 00:06:04
			bit.

00:06:05 --> 00:06:08
			But when Abu Amir al-Rahim heard who

00:06:08 --> 00:06:11
			the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam was and recognized

00:06:11 --> 00:06:14
			that he would not have the benefits the

00:06:14 --> 00:06:18
			material benefit of being on his side all

00:06:18 --> 00:06:20
			of those years of worship al-Rahim all

00:06:20 --> 00:06:22
			of those years of being a month-light

00:06:22 --> 00:06:26
			figure of being a scholar without the window

00:06:26 --> 00:06:29
			and he said I will oppose him because

00:06:29 --> 00:06:30
			he's not from us.

00:06:30 --> 00:06:31
			He's not one of us.

00:06:32 --> 00:06:35
			He's actually the man behind Masjid al-Darar

00:06:35 --> 00:06:38
			that Allah mentions in the Quran a masjid

00:06:38 --> 00:06:41
			that was built upon falsehood to compete with

00:06:41 --> 00:06:44
			Masjid al-Rustisah al-Taqwa a masjid built

00:06:44 --> 00:06:45
			on piety which was Masjid Quba.

00:06:46 --> 00:06:50
			He was the parallel of waraka but instead

00:06:50 --> 00:06:52
			he becomes a loser in the full sense

00:06:52 --> 00:06:55
			of the word all of those decades of

00:06:55 --> 00:06:57
			study when he was actually tested with the

00:06:57 --> 00:06:57
			moment.

00:06:58 --> 00:06:58
			He fell short.

00:06:59 --> 00:07:01
			He could have been like waraka instead.

00:07:01 --> 00:07:04
			He became a nobody a failure someone who

00:07:04 --> 00:07:07
			tried to use his spiritual prowess to support

00:07:07 --> 00:07:09
			Abdullah ibn Ubaid bin Saloon a hypocrite who

00:07:09 --> 00:07:12
			didn't even believe in God just so that

00:07:12 --> 00:07:13
			he could have that material benefits.

00:07:15 --> 00:07:16
			He had a son.

00:07:17 --> 00:07:20
			His son was named Hamzah ibn Abi Amir

00:07:20 --> 00:07:27
			radiallahu ta'ala alayhi was married Jameela radiallahu

00:07:27 --> 00:07:31
			anha bint Abdullah ibn Ubaid bin Saloon and

00:07:31 --> 00:07:34
			when Uhud came Hamzah the young man who

00:07:34 --> 00:07:37
			embraced Islam despite his father partly because he

00:07:37 --> 00:07:40
			heard his dad talking about a prophet to

00:07:40 --> 00:07:40
			come.

00:07:41 --> 00:07:42
			Why are we rejecting him now?

00:07:43 --> 00:07:45
			He embraced the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasalam as

00:07:45 --> 00:07:48
			a young man Jameela the daughter of the

00:07:48 --> 00:07:50
			chief of the hypocrites embraces Islam.

00:07:51 --> 00:07:51
			We know who he is.

00:07:51 --> 00:07:53
			We've been told about him.

00:07:54 --> 00:07:58
			Hamzah and Jameela got married the night before

00:07:58 --> 00:07:59
			Uhud.

00:08:00 --> 00:08:03
			Hamzah was intimate with Jameela for one night.

00:08:03 --> 00:08:06
			He came to Uhud before he could even

00:08:06 --> 00:08:08
			wash himself before he could even do ghusl.

00:08:09 --> 00:08:11
			And he is known as the seerul malaika

00:08:11 --> 00:08:13
			the one who was washed by the angels

00:08:13 --> 00:08:18
			because the companions saw his body lifted and

00:08:18 --> 00:08:21
			washed showered by the angels bathed by the

00:08:21 --> 00:08:23
			angels before they could clean his wounds and

00:08:23 --> 00:08:25
			the prophet sallallahu alayhi wasalam said that I

00:08:25 --> 00:08:27
			saw him on a silver platter between the

00:08:27 --> 00:08:29
			heavens and the earth and his body being

00:08:29 --> 00:08:32
			washed his ghusl, his washing was done by

00:08:32 --> 00:08:32
			the angels.

00:08:33 --> 00:08:35
			There's a twist to the story as well.

00:08:36 --> 00:08:39
			Many of us saw in the people of

00:08:39 --> 00:08:42
			Gaza these ayaat of Allah, these signs of

00:08:42 --> 00:08:48
			Allah, Ayman al-Jaddi rahimahullah the journalist who

00:08:48 --> 00:08:52
			was on his way to the hospital to

00:08:52 --> 00:08:54
			be with his wife while she would give

00:08:54 --> 00:08:54
			birth.

00:08:55 --> 00:08:57
			He married her during the genocide.

00:08:57 --> 00:08:59
			Maybe he and his wife Dana got married

00:08:59 --> 00:09:00
			during the genocide.

00:09:01 --> 00:09:03
			And then he was on his way to

00:09:03 --> 00:09:05
			the hospital to welcome his child.

00:09:07 --> 00:09:11
			And the Zionists bombed his van and set

00:09:11 --> 00:09:14
			him on fire along with four other journalists.

00:09:14 --> 00:09:16
			His wife was inside giving birth to his

00:09:16 --> 00:09:17
			child.

00:09:17 --> 00:09:19
			She had no idea that her husband had

00:09:19 --> 00:09:20
			just been killed outside.

00:09:21 --> 00:09:23
			The boy's name was Abdullah.

00:09:24 --> 00:09:25
			He is Abdullah.

00:09:26 --> 00:09:28
			May Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala allow him to

00:09:28 --> 00:09:32
			rise up to be one who brings greatness

00:09:32 --> 00:09:33
			to this ummah.

00:09:33 --> 00:09:35
			May Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala see through him

00:09:35 --> 00:09:37
			a glorious promise.

00:09:37 --> 00:09:38
			Allahumma ameen.

00:09:40 --> 00:09:43
			Haldalah left and he didn't know that Jameela

00:09:43 --> 00:09:44
			was pregnant.

00:09:44 --> 00:09:49
			She gave birth to Abdullah ibn Haldalah who

00:09:49 --> 00:09:51
			grew up to be a shaheed just like

00:09:51 --> 00:09:51
			his father.

00:09:52 --> 00:09:56
			There are promises that are made in the

00:09:56 --> 00:09:58
			midst of darkness.

00:09:58 --> 00:10:00
			There are things that you say that you

00:10:00 --> 00:10:03
			would do if the moment confronts you and

00:10:03 --> 00:10:06
			Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala will test you at

00:10:06 --> 00:10:09
			times with the words that you say.

00:10:09 --> 00:10:11
			We've all been thrown in our lives.

00:10:11 --> 00:10:13
			Oh Allah, if you give me this position,

00:10:13 --> 00:10:14
			I will do this.

00:10:15 --> 00:10:17
			If I achieve this financial goal, I'll do

00:10:17 --> 00:10:18
			this.

00:10:19 --> 00:10:20
			You give me this person.

00:10:20 --> 00:10:21
			I'll do this.

00:10:21 --> 00:10:23
			Once this is solved, I'll do this.

00:10:24 --> 00:10:27
			We make these empty promises time and time

00:10:27 --> 00:10:27
			and time again.

00:10:28 --> 00:10:29
			May Allah make us from the truthful.

00:10:29 --> 00:10:30
			Allahumma ameen.

00:10:31 --> 00:10:33
			And I want to actually walk that back

00:10:33 --> 00:10:35
			and see how Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala spoke

00:10:35 --> 00:10:38
			to that behavior of making promises to him

00:10:38 --> 00:10:40
			that go unfulfilled.

00:10:40 --> 00:10:43
			The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam mentioned ayatul munafiq

00:10:43 --> 00:10:44
			3.

00:10:44 --> 00:10:46
			The signs of a hypocrite are three.

00:10:48 --> 00:10:49
			When they speak, they lie.

00:10:51 --> 00:10:53
			And when they make promises, they break their

00:10:53 --> 00:10:53
			promises.

00:10:54 --> 00:10:57
			And when they are entrusted with something, they

00:10:57 --> 00:10:58
			betray that trust.

00:10:59 --> 00:11:01
			There is no greater lie to tell them

00:11:01 --> 00:11:03
			to Allah himself.

00:11:04 --> 00:11:07
			Those that lie to God, those that break

00:11:07 --> 00:11:11
			promises to Allah, those that betray the ultimate

00:11:11 --> 00:11:13
			imamah from Allah to them.

00:11:14 --> 00:11:17
			And so it's important to actually interrogate ourselves

00:11:17 --> 00:11:18
			with those qualities.

00:11:19 --> 00:11:20
			Say, do I have some of those qualities?

00:11:21 --> 00:11:24
			You see, most of us are familiar with

00:11:24 --> 00:11:28
			a surah in the Quran, surah munafiq, the

00:11:28 --> 00:11:31
			chapter of the hypocrites, but this actually wasn't

00:11:31 --> 00:11:33
			the first surah about hypocrisy.

00:11:35 --> 00:11:38
			Rather, there's a narration from Abdullah bin Salam

00:11:38 --> 00:11:40
			radiallahu anhu, the chief rabbi of Medina.

00:11:40 --> 00:11:43
			His name was Abdullah bin Salam, and he

00:11:43 --> 00:11:45
			embraced Islam as soon as he saw the

00:11:45 --> 00:11:46
			prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam, and he was the

00:11:46 --> 00:11:48
			most knowledgeable rabbi in Medina.

00:11:48 --> 00:11:49
			He said, this is him.

00:11:50 --> 00:11:52
			And he says in an authentic hadith in

00:11:52 --> 00:11:59
			musliman ahmad, We said to ourselves, Which deeds

00:11:59 --> 00:12:00
			are most beloved to Allah?

00:12:00 --> 00:12:02
			Let's ask the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam, if

00:12:02 --> 00:12:04
			only someone would ask the prophet sallallahu alaihi

00:12:04 --> 00:12:06
			wasallam, What does Allah want most to see

00:12:06 --> 00:12:07
			from us?

00:12:07 --> 00:12:08
			Sincerity.

00:12:08 --> 00:12:10
			He's the opposite of those who knew the

00:12:10 --> 00:12:11
			book and then betrayed it.

00:12:12 --> 00:12:14
			He wants to know and he was amongst

00:12:14 --> 00:12:15
			a group of people who said, Give it

00:12:15 --> 00:12:16
			to us.

00:12:16 --> 00:12:17
			We'll do it.

00:12:21 --> 00:12:23
			Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala revealed surah as-saf.

00:12:46 --> 00:12:48
			Allah revealed the whole surah.

00:12:49 --> 00:12:52
			Oh, you who believe, Why do you say

00:12:52 --> 00:12:53
			that which you don't do?

00:12:55 --> 00:12:56
			It starts with this.

00:12:57 --> 00:12:59
			The word munathiq was not used yet.

00:12:59 --> 00:13:00
			Allah didn't call anyone a hypocrite yet.

00:13:01 --> 00:13:03
			But the behavior was pointed out.

00:13:03 --> 00:13:07
			Why have you gotten yourself used to saying

00:13:07 --> 00:13:09
			things that you're not actually going to do?

00:13:09 --> 00:13:12
			Be careful of making claims that you have

00:13:12 --> 00:13:13
			no intention to fulfill.

00:13:14 --> 00:13:17
			Be careful of making lofty statements that you

00:13:17 --> 00:13:19
			have no intention to back with your actions.

00:13:20 --> 00:13:20
			Beware.

00:13:21 --> 00:13:23
			Surah Al-Baqarah was revealed right at the

00:13:23 --> 00:13:25
			beginning of Badr, In the beginning of Madinah.

00:13:26 --> 00:13:28
			Allah dedicates a whole section.

00:13:40 --> 00:13:43
			Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala talks about those who

00:13:43 --> 00:13:45
			say they believe but they're not really believers.

00:13:46 --> 00:13:47
			They have a disease in their hearts.

00:13:48 --> 00:13:50
			So they're reading the Quran.

00:13:51 --> 00:13:53
			The prophets, my son, entered into Madinah.

00:13:53 --> 00:13:56
			He said, yeah, let's do this because it

00:13:56 --> 00:13:58
			looks like this is the most favorable political

00:13:58 --> 00:13:59
			stance to take.

00:13:59 --> 00:14:02
			Let's attach ourselves to the believers and read

00:14:02 --> 00:14:03
			the situation.

00:14:03 --> 00:14:07
			Allah did not use the word munafiq yet,

00:14:08 --> 00:14:08
			hypocrite.

00:14:08 --> 00:14:11
			Yeah, but Allah identified the behavior of hypocrisy.

00:14:11 --> 00:14:13
			Surah As-Saff, Allah identified the behavior of

00:14:13 --> 00:14:16
			hypocrisy and the prophets, my son, wanted to

00:14:16 --> 00:14:18
			root it out of everyone's heart to the

00:14:18 --> 00:14:20
			maximum ability, to the point.

00:14:21 --> 00:14:22
			There was a man by the name Abdullah

00:14:22 --> 00:14:24
			Muamir Ibn Wali'an.

00:14:25 --> 00:14:28
			He said that my mother said to me,

00:14:28 --> 00:14:29
			I was a young boy when the verse

00:14:29 --> 00:14:30
			was revealed.

00:14:30 --> 00:14:33
			I was playing outside and my mother said

00:14:33 --> 00:14:36
			to me, Come home.

00:14:36 --> 00:14:37
			Let me give you something.

00:14:38 --> 00:14:40
			Trying to entice him to come inside the

00:14:40 --> 00:14:44
			house and the prophets, my son, said, do

00:14:44 --> 00:14:46
			you actually intend to give him something?

00:14:46 --> 00:14:47
			He heard her call her son out.

00:14:48 --> 00:14:50
			Did you actually intend to give him something?

00:14:51 --> 00:14:54
			And she said, yeah, tell him, I was

00:14:54 --> 00:14:56
			going to give him a thing, something to

00:14:56 --> 00:14:58
			get the child back into the house.

00:14:58 --> 00:15:01
			And the prophets, my son, said, had you

00:15:01 --> 00:15:07
			not been telling the truth, Allah would have

00:15:07 --> 00:15:08
			written a lie upon you.

00:15:08 --> 00:15:09
			We don't do that in this community.

00:15:10 --> 00:15:12
			Don't say things you don't intend to do.

00:15:15 --> 00:15:19
			Allah hates, finds it repulsive that a person

00:15:19 --> 00:15:21
			makes statements that they have no intention to

00:15:21 --> 00:15:22
			actually fulfill.

00:15:23 --> 00:15:25
			And then surah al-munafiq one came.

00:15:25 --> 00:15:28
			Allah called out the people who insisted on

00:15:28 --> 00:15:29
			that behavior.

00:15:30 --> 00:15:34
			And then the most detailed expedition, the most

00:15:34 --> 00:15:39
			detailed exposition of the hypocrites surah al-tawbah

00:15:39 --> 00:15:42
			comes down because now it is al-fadihah.

00:15:42 --> 00:15:43
			It is the exposure.

00:15:44 --> 00:15:46
			Your hypocrisy is as clear as night and

00:15:46 --> 00:15:46
			day.

00:15:46 --> 00:15:48
			The whole community can see you for who

00:15:48 --> 00:15:48
			you are.

00:15:48 --> 00:15:51
			Too many times you've failed the test.

00:15:51 --> 00:15:53
			It came and you failed the test.

00:15:53 --> 00:15:56
			You keep making statements that you have no

00:15:56 --> 00:15:58
			intention of putting your heart behind, that you

00:15:58 --> 00:16:00
			have no intention of putting your deeds behind.

00:16:02 --> 00:16:05
			So when the battle of Badr happened, how

00:16:05 --> 00:16:09
			many people said, Oh, you know, we wish

00:16:09 --> 00:16:09
			we were at Badr.

00:16:11 --> 00:16:13
			Glorious moment, Allah gave victory to the small

00:16:13 --> 00:16:19
			band of believers against a ruthless army, ill

00:16:19 --> 00:16:20
			-equipped, outnumbered.

00:16:20 --> 00:16:22
			If I was there, I would have been

00:16:22 --> 00:16:22
			there too.

00:16:23 --> 00:16:24
			There are a lot of people that make

00:16:24 --> 00:16:25
			these claims.

00:16:26 --> 00:16:28
			But there is a man who comes forth,

00:16:28 --> 00:16:29
			an innocent mother.

00:16:30 --> 00:16:34
			And he says, Ya Rasulullah, I misrepresented, but

00:16:34 --> 00:16:37
			if Allah gives me another chance, Allah will

00:16:37 --> 00:16:39
			see what I will do.

00:16:51 --> 00:16:55
			His nephew, Anas ibn Malik says, This was

00:16:55 --> 00:16:58
			revealed about the likes of my uncle, from

00:16:58 --> 00:17:01
			those who have been truthful as believers.

00:17:03 --> 00:17:05
			Are those who are truthful in their covenants

00:17:05 --> 00:17:06
			to Allah.

00:17:07 --> 00:17:09
			Some of them have the opportunity to fulfill

00:17:09 --> 00:17:10
			their covenant right away.

00:17:10 --> 00:17:12
			And some of them are delayed.

00:17:14 --> 00:17:19
			They don't relinquish in any way that state

00:17:19 --> 00:17:19
			that they're in.

00:17:20 --> 00:17:20
			You know what that means?

00:17:21 --> 00:17:23
			You know how many times Anas ibn Malik

00:17:23 --> 00:17:25
			sat in his house and rehearsed, if I

00:17:25 --> 00:17:26
			get another chance.

00:17:27 --> 00:17:28
			He already played it out in his head

00:17:28 --> 00:17:30
			over and over and over again.

00:17:30 --> 00:17:31
			If it comes, I will be there.

00:17:31 --> 00:17:35
			And when Uhud came, when others fled, he

00:17:35 --> 00:17:36
			went forward.

00:17:36 --> 00:17:39
			When others ran, he ran forward.

00:17:40 --> 00:17:43
			And he pushed people back to the battlefield.

00:17:45 --> 00:17:47
			Until Allah subhana wa ta'ala granted him

00:17:47 --> 00:17:48
			shahada.

00:17:50 --> 00:17:52
			He was truthful with Allah.

00:17:52 --> 00:17:54
			So Allah was truthful with him.

00:17:54 --> 00:17:55
			He made a promise.

00:17:56 --> 00:17:57
			And Allah tested him with that promise.

00:17:58 --> 00:18:00
			I want to bring this to our time

00:18:00 --> 00:18:05
			and conclusion, first and foremost, with the global

00:18:05 --> 00:18:07
			situation that's around us.

00:18:09 --> 00:18:11
			So many of us see what's happening in

00:18:11 --> 00:18:11
			Gaza right now.

00:18:11 --> 00:18:13
			And we say, if only I had a

00:18:13 --> 00:18:17
			meaningful way to help, I would do so.

00:18:18 --> 00:18:19
			And you know what?

00:18:19 --> 00:18:21
			There was a large group of doctors in

00:18:21 --> 00:18:24
			our community that were tested with those words.

00:18:25 --> 00:18:27
			Because the only people that could get in

00:18:27 --> 00:18:29
			from our communities were the doctors.

00:18:30 --> 00:18:33
			And may Allah bless those doctors that have

00:18:33 --> 00:18:35
			put themselves in the middle of a genocide

00:18:35 --> 00:18:39
			where hospitals are targeted just like military bases.

00:18:40 --> 00:18:42
			May Allah reward them and elevate them.

00:18:43 --> 00:18:43
			They were tested.

00:18:44 --> 00:18:45
			We're all sitting back and we're saying, if

00:18:45 --> 00:18:49
			I had the chance, then I would do

00:18:49 --> 00:18:49
			this and I would help.

00:18:50 --> 00:18:52
			Then I feel emasculated watching what's happening in

00:18:52 --> 00:18:53
			Gaza right now.

00:18:53 --> 00:18:54
			I do this and I would do that.

00:18:55 --> 00:18:56
			Careful.

00:18:56 --> 00:18:57
			Careful.

00:18:59 --> 00:19:00
			Be truthful.

00:19:01 --> 00:19:04
			Allah can reward you like waraka and you

00:19:04 --> 00:19:07
			never actually have a moment to prove your

00:19:07 --> 00:19:08
			heart.

00:19:09 --> 00:19:11
			Or you could be tested with your words.

00:19:11 --> 00:19:13
			And I'm only giving Gaza as an obvious

00:19:13 --> 00:19:15
			example because of those doctors in our community,

00:19:15 --> 00:19:18
			subhanallah, who had to make that decision and

00:19:18 --> 00:19:19
			Allah bless them.

00:19:19 --> 00:19:21
			Here we are, dear brothers and sisters, and

00:19:21 --> 00:19:23
			we see the global climate shifting rapidly.

00:19:24 --> 00:19:25
			And Allah will test you.

00:19:26 --> 00:19:28
			Allah will test you with your wealth.

00:19:28 --> 00:19:31
			You said, if you get this much money,

00:19:31 --> 00:19:31
			you're going to do this.

00:19:32 --> 00:19:34
			You said, if you find yourself in this

00:19:34 --> 00:19:35
			career, you're going to do this.

00:19:35 --> 00:19:37
			You said, if you get this taken care

00:19:37 --> 00:19:38
			of in your life, you're going to suddenly

00:19:38 --> 00:19:39
			be this.

00:19:39 --> 00:19:40
			Where is it?

00:19:44 --> 00:19:47
			Don't be those people who say things that

00:19:47 --> 00:19:48
			they don't intend to actually do.

00:19:49 --> 00:19:50
			Renew your intention.

00:19:50 --> 00:19:54
			Now, on a personal level, what about all

00:19:54 --> 00:19:55
			those times in my life where I've dropped

00:19:55 --> 00:19:56
			the ball?

00:19:57 --> 00:19:59
			I said, oh Allah, I will repent from

00:19:59 --> 00:19:59
			this sin.

00:20:00 --> 00:20:02
			Oh Allah, I will give this.

00:20:02 --> 00:20:03
			Oh Allah, I will do this.

00:20:03 --> 00:20:04
			Oh Allah, I'm going to become this person.

00:20:05 --> 00:20:07
			If you see me pass this obstacle in

00:20:07 --> 00:20:07
			life.

00:20:09 --> 00:20:11
			I want you to leave with the following.

00:20:11 --> 00:20:14
			Number one, renew your promises to Allah.

00:20:15 --> 00:20:18
			Go back, take account of your life.

00:20:18 --> 00:20:20
			I don't care if you were 13, 14

00:20:20 --> 00:20:22
			years old and you're 40 years old now,

00:20:22 --> 00:20:24
			thinking back to the promises you made Allah.

00:20:26 --> 00:20:27
			And see if you can renew them.

00:20:28 --> 00:20:30
			Number two, repent for the times that you've

00:20:30 --> 00:20:31
			dropped the ball.

00:20:32 --> 00:20:34
			Repent for the promises that you failed on.

00:20:35 --> 00:20:40
			Number three, identify the root causes of why

00:20:40 --> 00:20:41
			you keep dropping the ball, of why you

00:20:41 --> 00:20:43
			keep fumbling on your promises with Allah subhanahu

00:20:43 --> 00:20:44
			wa'ta'ala.

00:20:44 --> 00:20:45
			Why does it keep happening?

00:20:45 --> 00:20:48
			Because remember Allah identified a mindset of behavior

00:20:48 --> 00:20:50
			before it became full-blown hypocrisy.

00:20:51 --> 00:20:52
			You might not be a munafiq.

00:20:52 --> 00:20:54
			May Allah protect us from hypocrisy.

00:20:54 --> 00:20:55
			Allahumma ameen.

00:20:55 --> 00:20:57
			But perhaps as Abdullah ibn Umar r.a

00:20:57 --> 00:21:00
			said, if you have a trait, khasla, if

00:21:00 --> 00:21:02
			you have one of these qisas, one of

00:21:02 --> 00:21:04
			these traits, then that's your share of hypocrisy.

00:21:04 --> 00:21:06
			You could be one-fourth hypocrite, one-half

00:21:06 --> 00:21:08
			hypocrite, three-fourths hypocrite.

00:21:08 --> 00:21:10
			You could be a hundred percent hypocrite as

00:21:10 --> 00:21:11
			far as your behavior is concerned.

00:21:13 --> 00:21:16
			So identify the root causes and then deal

00:21:16 --> 00:21:17
			with those root causes.

00:21:17 --> 00:21:22
			Number four, surround yourself with people who are

00:21:22 --> 00:21:27
			always growing in their path towards Allah, who

00:21:27 --> 00:21:29
			are hitting the next step, the next step,

00:21:29 --> 00:21:31
			the next step, who clearly are on a

00:21:31 --> 00:21:34
			journey, a covenant with Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala.

00:21:39 --> 00:21:41
			Surround yourself with those people of excellence that

00:21:41 --> 00:21:44
			are pursuing Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala so that

00:21:44 --> 00:21:45
			they can be contagious with you as well.

00:21:46 --> 00:21:53
			Number five, ask Allah for firmness.

00:21:54 --> 00:21:56
			The most frequent du'a of the Prophet

00:21:56 --> 00:21:56
			sallallahu alaihi wasallam.

00:22:00 --> 00:22:03
			O turner of hearts, make my heart firm

00:22:03 --> 00:22:03
			on your way.

00:22:09 --> 00:22:12
			Oh Allah, do not let our hearts go

00:22:12 --> 00:22:13
			astray after you have guided us.

00:22:13 --> 00:22:17
			Don't let them deviate because they can't deviate.

00:22:18 --> 00:22:22
			Oh Allah, we seek refuge in you from

00:22:22 --> 00:22:24
			being a people who say what they have

00:22:24 --> 00:22:25
			no intention to do.

00:22:26 --> 00:22:28
			Oh Allah, make us a people whose intentions

00:22:28 --> 00:22:30
			are even better than what they were able

00:22:30 --> 00:22:32
			to materialize in their outfit.

00:22:32 --> 00:22:36
			Let our tongues match our hearts and let

00:22:36 --> 00:22:37
			our deeds match our tongues.

00:22:38 --> 00:22:40
			We ask Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala to write

00:22:40 --> 00:22:43
			us from as-sadiqeen, people of truthfulness.

00:22:43 --> 00:22:46
			May Allah make us truthful in everything that

00:22:46 --> 00:22:47
			we say that we plan to do.

00:22:47 --> 00:22:49
			May Allah allow us to fulfill our promises

00:22:49 --> 00:22:51
			to him and may Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala

00:22:51 --> 00:22:54
			fulfill his promise to us as Allah subhanahu

00:22:54 --> 00:22:56
			wa'ta'ala never betrays his promise.

00:22:57 --> 00:23:01
			Allah does not betray his promise.

00:23:01 --> 00:23:04
			May Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala grant victory to

00:23:04 --> 00:23:05
			this ummah and may Allah subhanahu wa'ta'ala

00:23:05 --> 00:23:07
			make us a part of that victory and

00:23:07 --> 00:23:09
			may Allah guide us towards all good, forgive

00:23:09 --> 00:23:12
			us for our shortcomings and may Allah subhanahu

00:23:12 --> 00:23:13
			wa'ta'ala allow us to be immersed in

00:23:13 --> 00:23:16
			that good in every element of our existence.

00:24:01 --> 00:24:30
			And

00:24:30 --> 00:24:31
			make us a leader for the righteous.

00:24:31 --> 00:24:37
			Alhamdulillahi Rabbil Alameen.
