As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious,
the Most Merciful.
All praise is due to Allah, the Lord
of the worlds.
And to the righteous.
And peace and blessings be upon the Messenger
of Allah.
And upon his family and companions.
After that, Inshallah, today we are going to
talk about the significance, the importance, as well
as the virtues of the Kalima.
The Kalima of Tawheed.
It is none other than La ilaha illa
Allah.
La ilaha illa Allah.
It is none worthy of worship except Allah
Subhanahu wa ta'ala alone.
This Kalima is so precious.
This Kalima is the reason for the creation
of the heavens and the earth.
And the heavens and the earth will remain
as long as this Kalima is established.
And when there is no one on the
face of this earth to say, La ilaha
illa Allah, this dunya is going to perish.
As Rasulullah S.A.W. has said, The
hour is not going to establish until there
is no one to say Allah.
Referring to La ilaha illa Allah.
There is no one to believe in the
oneness of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Meaning, this whole earth, this dunya, will be
filled with disbelief and kufr.
And there will be no one to believe
in the oneness of Allah Subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
Then there will be no purpose for keeping
this dunya.
So Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala is going
to perish it.
Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala is going to
destroy it.
So this Kalima is the Kalima for which
Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala sent the messengers.
He Subhanahu wa ta'ala says in the
Quran, We
did not send a messenger before you O
Muhammad S.A.W. except that we revealed
to them.
We revealed to every single messenger.
We sent revelation and wahi to every single
messenger.
And we ordered them to preach what?
Meaning, there is none worthy of worship except
me alone.
Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala alone.
And this is what Allah Subhanahu wa ta
'ala has also said about individual prophets and
messengers in the Quran.
All these messengers of Allah, they preach this
message, So this is one common Kalima they
all preach.
And this was the core purpose of their
messengership.
And this was the core reason for which
Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala sent them.
And this Kalima is so precious, so strong,
so powerful, that if you have this Kalima
in the scale of your good deeds, your
final board is going to be the Jannah.
And if you have many good deeds but
amongst them you miss the Kalima of Tawheed,
then the final board is going to be
the fire of *.
May Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala grant us
all Jannatul Firdaus and may Allah Subhanahu wa
ta'ala save us all from the fire
of *.
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has informed us about
many, many virtues of this Kalima, La Ilaha
Illallah.
When I was preparing for today's lesson, I
was going through the Ahadith.
Subhanallah, there are so many Ahadith.
So I decided to just simply quote those
Ahadith and go through those Ahadith one after
the other.
Not all of them, some of them.
So I begin with the very first and
famous Hadith that is reported by Imam Al
-Bukhari and Imam Muslim Rahimahum Allah, on the
authority of Sayyiduna Abu Huraira Radhiallahu Ta'ala
who says that the Messenger of Allah said
Iman and belief is divided
over 70 or 60 branches.
It has 70 or 60 various branches.
The highest and the most virtuous of the
branches of Iman is La Ilaha Illallah.
That is the peak and that is the
highest part of Iman.
In fact, that is the base and that
is the core of Iman.
Without La Ilaha Illallah, there is no Iman.
So that is the base, that is the
foundation and that is the best part of
Iman.
And the other good deeds, your statements, whatever
you say, whatever you utter, whatever you do,
they are also part of Iman.
Such as your Salah is part of Iman.
When you give in charity, it is part
of Iman.
Your reading of the Quran is part of
Iman.
Making Dua to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
it is part of Iman.
Your good Akhlaq is part of Iman.
Helping the poor and needy is part of
your Iman.
But the best part of Iman and the
most important part of the Iman is what?
La Ilaha Illallah.
La Ilaha Illallah.
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam also said in a
Hadith reported by Imam Al-Bukhari Rahimahullah, under
the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Hurair R.A.
He says, Qeela Ya Rasulullah Man As'adun
Naasi Bishafa'atika Yawmul Qiyamah.
It was asked, O Messenger of Allah Man
As'adun Naas?
Who is going to be the most blessed
person or who is going to be the
most deserving person of your intercession on the
Day of Judgement?
Who will be deserving your intercession and your
shafa'ah on the Day of Judgement the
most?
The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said to Abu
Hurairah R.A. He said, Laqad Zanantu Ya
Aba Hurairah Alla Yis'alani An Hadhal Hadithi
Ahadun Awwalu Mink.
Lima Ra'ayta Min Hirsika Ala Al-Hadith
Before answering his question, because the question was
asked by Abu Hurairah R.A. The Prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said to Abu Hurairah encouraged
him and he appreciated his question.
And this is one of the lessons that
we learn from this hadith of Rasulullah Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam.
That when a student asks the teacher a
question sincerely in order to learn, in order
to gain knowledge then the teacher must appreciate
him.
So the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam before answering
his question he said, I knew Abu Hurairah
that you would be the first one to
ask this question.
And this is because of your passion for
learning my hadith and my sunnah.
And because of that I knew that you
are going to be the first one who
would ask this question.
Then the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam answered.
He said, The
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said every person who
says la ilaha illallah from the sincerity of
his heart.
What does it mean?
The person says la ilaha illallah and he
lives la ilaha illallah.
He fulfills the requirement of la ilaha illallah.
He understands la ilaha illallah.
It doesn't mean that a person says la
ilaha illallah and he continues committing shirk.
He says la ilaha illallah and he makes
dua to other than Allah.
A person says la ilaha illallah and he
begs other than Allah.
A person says la ilaha illallah and he
believes that the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam can
help him.
And he believes that his saint and his
Pir and his so and so can help
him in this dunya, in his grave, on
the day of judgment.
And the person that he has given the
bay'ah to, he is going to protect
him from the punishment of the grave.
And his saint and his Pir is going
to save him from the punishment of Allah
on the day of judgment.
If the person says la ilaha illallah and
holds such belief, then it is not khalisun
min qalbi.
And the person is not sincere in saying
la ilaha illallah because he did not understand
la ilaha illallah.
He didn't understand la ilaha illallah.
Otherwise, what was wrong with Abdullah ibn Ubayy?
The chief and the head of the hypocrites
during the time of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam.
Did he say la ilaha illallah?
He did say la ilaha illallah.
He, in fact, used to pray behind the
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
What would he say in his salah?
When he said in his salah, he came
to the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
Allah has mentioned in the Quran, The hypocrites
and the munafiqeen, they come to you and
they say, we testify that you are messenger
of Allah.
And before that, they would say la ilaha
illallah.
We believe that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
alone deserves our worship.
But did Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala accept
that?
No.
He said, So we shouldn't be deceived by
those who say that as long as you
say la ilaha illallah and then whatever you
believe and whatever you say, you are going
to be saved because this is what the
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said.
No.
They missed that part of the hadith in
which the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, Whoever
says la ilaha illallah from the sincerity of
his heart and sincerity and the ikhlas of
the heart requires the person to act upon
la ilaha illallah, to understand la ilaha illallah
and to live la ilaha illallah.
The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, Every person
who says la ilaha illallah from the sincerity
of his heart, he will deserve my intercession
on the day of judgment.
In another hadith of Ubadah bin Usamit Radiallahu
Ta'ala The Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,
Whoever testifies and he declares that there is
none worthy of worship except Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala alone without any partner and Muhammad
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is Allah's servant and his
messenger and he also believes then that Isa
A.S. is also Allah's servant and his
messenger and Isa was a kalima from Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala that he is inspired
to Maryam A.S. and he is a
spirit created by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
a soul, a special soul that was created
by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Why he was special?
Because Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala allowed him
to come into this dunya without a father
that is why he was a special soul
whoever believes in this and whoever believes in
that paradise is true and half fire is
also true Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will
grant him to enter into Jannah whatever actions
he did meaning he believes in all of
that and despite saying la ilaha illallah he
committed some sins he had in his record
the major sins and minor sins eventually Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is going to allow
him to enter into Jannah this is the
power of this kalima that Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala will save the person from the
punishment of the fire and Allah will not
allow that person to remain in the fire
if he is thrown in the fire because
of his major sins Allah will not allow
him to remain in the fire forever rather
he will be taken out as the Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said in a hadith
reported by Imam Bukhari Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta
'ala will take out from the fire of
* every single individual who had a little
iman in his heart anyone who said la
ilaha illallah he is going to be taken
out from the fire of * because of
his iman, because of his understanding of the
tawheed of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and
on the other hand if you have all
the good deeds in your record you have
prayed for 30 years, 40, 50 years and
you have been given in charity you have
been reciting Quran you have been doing all
good deeds but when it came to the
tawheed of Allah when it came to la
ilaha illallah you did not actually believe in
la ilaha illallah although you have been saying
in every single salah ashadu wa la ilaha
illallah this statement is not going to save
you that is why Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta
'ala has said in the Quran Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala is not going to forgive
the shirk anyone who associates partners with Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala we should also be
in mind the word shirk and inshallah in
one of the following lectures we are going
to go through the definition of shirk and
the various types of shirk but here very
briefly pay attention to the word shirk, what
does shirk mean?
shirk means partnership those who commit shirk they
never deny that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
they never deny that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta
'ala is the khaliq of this dunya they
never deny they never deny any of the
the asma of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
why it is so dangerous for them because
they associate partners with Allah so they believe
whatever they believe in Allah they believe that
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is the one
who helps you and so and so can
also help you Allah can grant you a
child and so and so can also grant
you a child if you are afflicted by
a calamity and you are trapped in difficulty
Allah can help you but before calling upon
Allah you should go to so and so
and they can help you and they can
intercede on your behalf before Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala that is what is called shirk
you associate partners with Allah Dhul Jalal Al
Ikram and that is prohibited and this is
the dhulb that is what breaches the kalima
so you say la ilaha illallah and then
you do something that breaches your statement that
breaches your statement in your salah you say
you alone we worship and you alone we
ask for help and assistance and then you
go out and you prostrate before the grave
of a saint and you do the tawaf
and you give for the sake of other
than Allah and you do all of this
this is what is called shirk so la
ilaha illallah has a power this kalimatu tawheed
is the most powerful statement it is the
most powerful kalam or the kalima that the
person can ever utter that is why Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said khairu maa qultu ana
wa nabiyyuna min qabli la ilaha illallah wahdahu
la sharika lah lahul mulku wa lahul hamd
wa huwa ala kulli shayin qadeer the best
word that I have ever uttered and the
prophets before me have ever uttered is la
ilaha illallah the best word that I have
ever uttered is what?
la ilaha illallah because there is no statement,
no kalima better than this statement and better
than this kalima la ilaha illallah so Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam says in another hadith narrated
by Sayyiduna Anas Ibn Malik radiyallahu ta'ala
anhu and a similar hadith is also narrated
by Sayyiduna Muad Ibn Jabal radiyallahu ta'ala
anhu he himself reports and Anas radiyallahu ta
'ala anhu he also reports, he says one
day Muad radiyallahu ta'ala anhu he was
riding the beast behind the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam, the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said to
Muad ya Muad he said oh Muad he
said I am here at your service oh
messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam the prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam repeated he said ya Muad
he again said the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
third time he said ya Muad why did
he repeat that although he was sitting right
behind him it was to grab his attention
so that he listens what Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam was going to say with full focus
and concentration, attentively so the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam said to Muad three times ya Muad,
ya Muad, ya Muad and every single time
Muad radiyallahu ta'ala anhu replied and he
confirmed that he is giving his ear to
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam fully and he is
listening to him carefully the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam said ya Muad he
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said there is no one
who testifies there is none worthy of worship
except Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and he testifies
that Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam is Allah's messenger
from the sincerity of his heart meaning he
is uttering this statement and he believes within
his heart as well and he understands what
he says, when he says la ilaha illallah,
whoever says that illa haramahullahu alannar Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala will make him haram for
the fire meaning the fire will not burn
him and it doesn't mean that the person
will not go into the fire if he
committed sins, major sins there is possibility that
the person goes into the fire but eventually
he will be taken out of the fire
of * and there are many other hadiths
of the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam with a
similar meaning another hadith with regards to the
virtue of the kalima la ilaha illallah is
what is collected by Imam Al Bukhari the
authority of Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Al Ghafari, he
says I came
to visit the
prophet and I found that he was asleep
and he had a white sheet over him,
so I went back then I came back
after a while then I came back and
then he was awake when the prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam when I met the prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam he said to me the
prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said listen, any person
who says la ilaha illallah and then he
dies on la ilaha illallah dying on la
ilaha illallah means what?
he never committed shirk with Allah he never
called upon other than Allah he never committed
any shirk rather he was firm in his
belief in the oneness of Allah he understood
la ilaha illallah the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
says whoever says la ilaha illallah and then
he dies on la ilaha illallah except that
he will enter Jannah Abu Dharr asked the
question he said even if a person commits
zina and the person steals the prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam said even if the person commits
zina and even if the person steals Abu
Dharr says again even if the person commits
zina and he steals the prophet repeats the
same word even if the person commits zina
and he steals Abu Dharr asks third time
the person commits zina after saying la ilaha
illallah and he steals still he is going
to be allowed to enter Jannah the prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam repeats the same word as
long as he never commits shirk with Allah
as long as he never commits shirk with
Allah even if he has committed major sins
Allah will allow him to enter Jannah whether
after punishing him in the fire or without
punishment may be the case that Allah accepts
one single good deed of the person that
he has performed and he has done solely
and purely for the sake of Allah without
any trace of showing off or riya and
he did some good deed he did in
his privacy and when no one could see
him he did it solely for the sake
of Allah Allah can forgive him and Allah
can allow him to enter Jannah without punishment
have you not heard the famous hadith of
the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam that Allah forgave
a prostitute because of giving few sips of
water to a thirsty dog and Allah accepted
it she did that solely for the sake
of Allah and she was known within the
community because of her evil acts but Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala forgave her and there
are other examples, there are other hadiths of
the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam as well interestingly
this is something that may encourage some people
not to practice the deen and this is
the fear that Umar felt in a long
hadith mentioned in Sahih Bukhari that the prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam once sent Abu Huraira he
sent Abu Huraira go out in the streets
of Medina and call out whoever says la
ilaha illallah from the sincerity of his heart
he is going to enter into Jannah Abu
Huraira was happy, he said shall I give
this glad tidings to everyone he said go
out in the streets of Medina and call
out Abu Huraira went out and he started
shouting Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has sent me
and he said whoever says la ilaha illallah
from the sincerity of his heart he is
going to enter into Jannah what happened?
Umar bin Khattab he was walking in one
of the streets of Medina, he said to
Abu Huraira what are you saying?
he said this is what Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam said to me and the prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam sent me to call out and
tell the people he said no no no
stop stop, let's go to the prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam he went, in fact it is
mentioned in the hadith Abu Huraira himself he
says Umar pushed me so that I fell
on the ground, he said Abu Huraira why
are you saying this?
and then I got up and said Rasulullah
Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam told me this, he said
ok let's go to the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam Umar went and he said oh messenger
of Allah, I have the fear that if
it becomes common amongst the people and everyone
knows this, people are not going to practice
this religion, who is going to offer the
salah?
people are going to say ok, I never
committed shirk with Allah so it is ok
for me to continue you know lying, backbiting
stealing, committing zina, doing all bad deeds the
prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said to Abu Huraira
ok Abu Huraira stop, don't do it ok,
so when there is a fear this type
of fear that people may give up practicing
the religion of Allah then it is not
wise to mention these hadiths, ok but the
reality is that if the person has committed
person believes in the tawhid of Allah he
never commits shirk with Allah and then he
is deceived by shaitan and he commits you
know major sins then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta
'ala is going to eventually forgive him, eventually
he is going to forgive him with punishment
or without punishment it is up to Allah
as he says he Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
forgives whatever he Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala wills
and to whomsoever he Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
will from the virtues of la ilaha illallah
la ilaha illallah is that the Prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam has encouraged us to often repeat
la ilaha illallah to repeat la ilaha illallah
in our adhan the muadhin says ash hadu
an la ilaha illallah and we are encouraged
to repeat after muadhin ash hadu an la
ilaha illallah then iqama, just before starting the
salah muadhin again says the iqama and he
says ash hadu an la ilaha illallah, then
we stand before Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
we praise we glorify Allah Dhul Jalal Ikram
in our qiyam then in our ruku and
sujood and then in tashahud we again say
ash hadu an la ilaha illallah so you
repeat this word this statement la ilaha illallah
in your salah anyway and you are obliged
you are obliged because the salah is the
biggest obligation within the religion of Islam you
are obliged to say la ilaha illallah within
your salah as part of your salah anyway
but the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has encouraged
us to say la ilaha illallah very often
in other than salah as well so he
a.s. has encouraged us to say la
ilaha illallah and to add a few more
words so that it becomes a long statement
the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam has said whoever
says this statement 100 times
a day he Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam says 100
rewards will be written for him 100
sins will be forgiven it will be
recorded in his record that he has freed
10 slaves you know what is the reward
of freeing one slave it is mentioned in
another hadith the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said
whoever frees one slave Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta
'ala frees the person from the fire of
* because of great reward just imagine you
free 10 slaves and it is further mentioned
in another hadith that the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam said whoever says this he will get
the reward of freeing 10 slaves from the
progeny of Sayyiduna Ismail this is another reward
and in addition to that he Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam said and Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
will protect the person from the evil from
the attacks of shaytan for the entire day
until he witnesses the evening of that day
and then he Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said and
for that particular day in the sight of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala there is no
person who is better than this individual who
has said for 100 times there is no
one better than him except the person who
says the same statement with a similar number
or he repeats more than that meaning you
say minimum 100 times but if you can
read more it's even better Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam used to encourage his companion Ridwanullahi Al
-Ijma'in to often say and repeat La
Ilaha Illallah by repeating La Ilaha Illallah you
ponder on the meaning and you reflect on
the meaning of La Ilaha Illallah and you
try to understand the meaning of La Ilaha
Illallah as well because by repeating La Ilaha
Illallah you keep yourself connected to Allah Dhul
Jalal you remain under the protection of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala all the time and
it increases the love of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala love for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta
'ala within your heart and it encourages you
to be more firm and steadfast on the
Tauheed of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala and
Iman it helps the person to get the
habit, to get into the habit of saying
La Ilaha Illallah all the time when you
have this habit of saying La Ilaha Illallah
you will try your best to save your
tongue and safeguard your tongue from lying from
backbiting because you will be keeping in mind
that you use this tongue uttering the statement,
the best statement La Ilaha Illallah, how can
you lie using the same tongue, how can
you backbite when you say La Ilaha Illallah
with your tongue how can you swear at
someone when you say La Ilaha when you
use the same tongue saying La Ilaha Illallah
scholars have also said the person who gets
the habit of saying La Ilaha Illallah on
a regular basis and whenever he is free
whenever he is quiet, he is never quiet
in fact the Salaf used to say it
is strange for the believer that his tongue
is not moving whenever you are, for example
you are sitting in a waiting area you
are at surgery or you are somewhere waiting
10 minutes, 20 minutes, half an hour sometimes
it takes a long okay, rather than wasting
your time doing nothing, saying nothing, you keep
saying La Ilaha Illallah, La Ilaha Illallah, La
Ilaha Illallah and one of the benefits that
the scholars have mentioned is the person who
gets this habit of La Ilaha Illallah, it
will help him to utter La Ilaha Illallah
when he takes the final breath in this
dunya what is the reward of that, you
all know that you have heard the famous
hadith of Rasulullah many times, the Prophet said
whoever says the very last statement in this
dunya, La Ilaha Illallah, he will enter into
Jannah, great reward Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
says in the Quran Allah
has given you an example of this Kalima,
Kalima Tayyiba this Kalima La Ilaha Illallah is
called pure, the purest statement La Ilaha Illallah
Allah says it is like a tree the
tree that is so strong that its roots
are grounded in the earth so strong and
deep in the earth and its branches reach
all the way up to the sky, up
to the heavens that is the parallel that
Allah has given of La Ilaha Illallah and
then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says few
ayat later those who believed in La Ilaha
Illallah and they are sincere, Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala keeps them firm and steadfast on
La Ilaha Illallah, not only in this dunya
but in the akhirah and in the next
life this is what Rasulullah S.A.W.
explained, giving the tafsir of this particular ayah
in surah Ibrahim يثبت الله الذين آمنوا بالقول
الثابت في الحياة الدنيا وفي الآخرة Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala keeps the believers firm on
the most firm statement La Ilaha Illallah in
this dunya as well as in the next
life, he S.A.W. said it refers
to the life of the barzakh and the
grave when the person is buried after his
death we all know the angels they come
to question the person in the grave and
the very first question they ask is Mar
Rabbuk, who is your lord?
seems very simple question if we ask this
question now, every one of us will say
Allah but in the grave you will be
allowed to answer by saying Allah only only
if you lived La Ilaha Illallah in this
dunya if you never committed shirk with Allah
you understood La Ilaha Illallah, you believed in
La Ilaha Illallah you lived La Ilaha Illallah
then Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will help
you and assist you to say La Ilaha
Illallah in your grave and you will answer
straight away to the angel that my lord
is Allah يثبت الله الذين آمنوا بالقول الثابت
في الحياة الدنيا وفي الآخرة is also mentioned
in a hadith that is collected by Imam
Ahmed and Sheikh Albani has classified this hadith
as sahih he said Sayyiduna Anu said to
his son it is mentioned in the Quran
when his son was about to drown he
said dear son say La Ilaha Illallah I
encourage you, I order you to say La
Ilaha Illallah but he was so arrogant he
said I am going to climb this high
mountain so I will be saved from the
flood and from the punishment of Allah Sayyiduna
Anu replied he said anyway at that point
Sayyiduna Anu said to his son I am
asking you to say La Ilaha Illallah so
that you will be saved and then he
also said seven heavens and seven earths if
they are all together placed in one side
of the scale and only this small short
concise statement La Ilaha Illallah is placed on
the other side of the scale that side
of the scale would become heavy whereas the
other side where you have seven heavens and
seven earths placed on that part of the
scale that will become light that is the
power of La Ilaha Illallah and that is
the way of La Ilaha Illallah the similar
narration is mentioned by Imam At-Tirmidhi and
it is very encouraging and gives the believer
great hope great hope pay attention to this
hadith reported by Imam At-Tirmidhi and narrated
by Sayyiduna Abdullah Ibn Amr Ibn Aas he
says the messenger of Allah said on
the day of judgment when Allah will begin
the reckoning He will take out one person
from my ummah one person from my ummah
meaning someone who believed in Allah and someone
who believed in the Prophet Allah will take
him out from the big crowd and Allah
will order the angels to spread before him
his record of the deeds and 99 scrolls
and 99 registers where all of his actions
and whatever he did in this world will
be written down and will be recorded all
of them will be spread before him every
single register will be as long as he
could see and all of them are filled
with his deeds and actions whatever he did
in this world Allah will question him now
do you deny any of any of the
actions anything that is written in these registers
do you deny any of them he will
say do you think that those angels who
were appointed by me to record your actions
and your deeds do you think that they
have wronged you the person will say no
my Rabb, no Allah I don't deny any
of this and I don't believe that the
angels have wronged me rather they have recorded
exactly what I did and whatever I said
then Allah will ask him do you have
any excuse he will say no I don't
have any excuse Allah will say do you
think you have performed any righteous deed and
he will say I can't think of any
good deed I did because my life was
filled with sins disobedience day and night I
committed sins I can't remember any good deed
that I did for your sake and Allah
says why not we have a good deed
that you did in the world and it
is written, it is recorded we are not
going to wrong you my angels who were
appointed to record your deeds they never wronged
you and I am not going to wrong
you today then a small slip
will be taken out from his register on
that slip will be written this is the
power of the kalimatul tawheed will be written
on that Allah will say to this person
now your deeds are going to be weighed
and you must witness you must witness that,
see then all those 99 registers of his
record will be placed on one side of
the scale and that small slip on which
it is written la ilaha illallah will be
placed on the other side of the scale
the person before seeing this before witnessing this
he will say oh Allah what is this
small slip going to do against these 99
registers Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will say
to him you have to witness the weight,
look at and the scale will be lifted
and the side of the scale in which
the kalimatul tawheed la ilaha illallah is placed
it will become heavy and those 99 register
side it will become very light as he
mentioned in the hadith that slip will become
heavy and those 99 register will become light
and then the Prophet s.a.w. says
nothing is heavier than the name of Allah
Dhul-Jalal la ilaha illallah la ilaha illallah
this is the power and this is the
strength and this is the virtue of la
ilaha illallah may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
give us the ability to learn la ilaha
illallah to understand la ilaha illallah to firmly
believe in la ilaha illallah to live la
ilaha illallah and to fulfill the requirement of
la ilaha illallah may Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala allow us to repeat la ilaha illallah
often may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow
us to say la ilaha illallah when we
take the final breath in this dunya may
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala save us from
his punishment in grave as well as on
the day of judgement because of la ilaha
illallah may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala grant
us his divine protection in this dunya because
of la ilaha illallah may Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala protect us from the punishment of
grave because of la ilaha illallah may Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala allow us to be
amongst those who say la ilaha illallah with
the sincerity of their heart and they are
firm on this la ilaha illallah on the
tawhid of Allah may Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala give us tawfiq and ability subhanakallah ma
