Indeed, we are fortunate to be of the
community of Muslims,
a community who had forefathers,
predecessors like the Sahaba, the companions of the
Prophet
who brought to us, packaged to us, and
was able to relate to us the description
of the Prophet
how he ate, how he slept, and how
he went about his daily doings.
One such hadith is reported to us by
Abdullah ibn Abbas
where he says,
That the Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
was the most generous of people.
And he was at the pinnacle, at the
height of his generosity
during Ramadan.
Khina yal kahu jibreel
when he met Jibreel alaihis salam. And what
did they do during these meetings? They would
study and revise the book of Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala. Abdullah ibn Abbas radiAllahu
ta'ala Anhu. He describes the Prophet
as being more generous
than that wind that brings the rain. We
know how precious rain is in Arabia. We
know how precious rain is in a desert,
so the prophet
after having these meetings with Jibril during the
month of Ramadan,
his generosity
would increase.
And so, dear brothers and sisters,
we are encouraged to give more during this
month of Ramadan,
and we see that the prophet
generosity,
which already was at a high level, would
be increased during this month due to 3
things. 1, the fact that it was
Ramadan in itself.
2, good companionship
when he met with Jibril,
and 3, he was busy reciting
and revising the book of Allahu
And so, we learn from this hadith
that when we are busy with good actions,
an indication that it is accepted from Allah
is the ability to do more good actions.
And so, we pray and ask Allah
during this month of Ramadan
to grant us good companionship
and the ability
to do good deeds.
This Ramadan,
do
more.
SANSAV,
changing lives through development and relief.
