Ameen, Ya Rabbal Alameen Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuhu The
stage that we have reached in the seerah
of Rasulullah ﷺ is that of migration we
spoke in the last episode of as to
how the permission for migration was granted to
Rasulullah ﷺ in the form of a dua
a dua that was made a dua that
was fulfilled a dua that was lived by
Rasulullah ﷺ there is so much that we
learn in terms of what a dua is,
what a prayer is from just that one
instance of that revelation how proactive the understanding
of dua is how much goes into the
making of a dua and the fulfilling of
a dua on the part of Allah of
course but on the part of the human
being that Rasulullah ﷺ's concern for sidq, for
truth and how he wanted for his exit
from Mecca entry into Medina to be one
of truth and so it is the consolation
it is the reassurance it is the promise,
the commitment that Allah makes in that dua
or right after that dua rather waja'al
haqqu wa zahaqal baatil right that's him also
being given an assurance that this is a
very dangerous journey ahead traveling to Mecca, from
Mecca to Medina for Rasulullah ﷺ at the
time of migration is putting his life on
the line there is a price on his
head, literally the Quraish have said that whoever
brings Muhammad ﷺ dead or alive is going
to get a hundred camels or something maybe
more that's what I remember Rasulullah ﷺ is
open game anyone, anyone can target him and
so for him to go from Mecca to
Medina without being seen without being caught with
everyone looking for him he needed divine help
he took all his own measures what path
is he going to take what provisions is
he going to take who is he going
to go with everything was planned out everything
very meticulously, very detailed when, how long to
stay where what precautions to take what to
do, what not to do everything was planned
out it was a very sensitive affair and
so it was in this that Suraqa bin
Malik last episode I was forgetting his name
Suraqa bin Malik in pursuit of Rasulullah ﷺ
and Sahaba the only one from all of
Mecca with everyone pursuing him the only one
to see him but then his camel, his
ride is sinking into the sand and he
doesn't realize what is it that's going on
and then the fear that this as soon
as I approach him, as soon as I
get close this starts happening Suraqa begins wondering
and then his confrontation which is more of
a conversation with Rasulullah ﷺ in which Rasulullah
promises him that Suraqa I see the bracelets
of the king of Persia in your hands
it is a prophecy that Rasulullah ﷺ is
making at that point in Mecca where it's
just him and Abu Bakr, where his life
is on the line and he's saying that
not only will I get through to Medina
not only will our settlement in Medina be
a success not only will the Quraish be
taken care of, the Kuffar of Mecca and
all the opposition, they're literally ready to murder
Rasulullah ﷺ they will be taken care of
but every other opposing tribe in Mecca is
going to be taken care of and not
only that Persia will be conquered so that
is the faith that is the optimism that
is the positivity with which Rasulullah ﷺ is
leaving Mecca something has happened between اللهم إليك
أشكو ضعف قوتي the dua that Rasulullah ﷺ
made after Ta'if in which he said
Ya Allah I'm complaining to you of my
weakness and this point where he is telling
Suraqa that you're going to be wearing the
jewels of the king of Persia something has
transitioned, something has changed within Rasulullah ﷺ this
is a very different attitude a very definitely
higher level of commitment, he was committed before
he had faith before but what you see
in Rasulullah ﷺ Sira is this constant increase
that he increases, he adds on to perfection
he already has it to the better than
anyone else around him or even before him,
yet he continues to improve in it there
is this very deliberate, very concerted effort at
growth physically, practically which manifests itself spiritually inwardly
as well we see how the two go
hand in hand with Rasulullah ﷺ our understanding
of Rasulullah ﷺ this is something that we're
committed in this particular series at least to
point towards that our conception that he was
perfect before and he was perfect till the
very end and that's the end of the
story no where he started off from and
where he's getting to it's not a linear
growth either it is definitely growth it is
definitely growth there's difficulties that he's facing inwardly
and outwardly challenges that he's overcoming he's growing
he was complaining in just a I would
say a few months ago from this point
where he's having this conversation with Raqqa to
Allah about his weakness of how desperate the
situation had gotten and here he's making this
incredible promise this incredible prediction, prophecy and it
gets to Suraqa and so he knows even
though he's there for the price for the
prize money he understands no this ain't something
to be messed with Suraqa don't get his
hands dirty with this you steer clear you
steer clear of this man he's going places
and Rasulullah ﷺ proceeds with Abu Bakr Suraqa
of course does not, he keeps that identity
hidden, actually supports Rasulullah ﷺ to make sure
that nobody else comes this way either, I've
already looked here no reason to come here
and Rasulullah ﷺ and Abu Bakr they take
refuge in that cave of Thawr that little
cave that they're not very pleasant not very
comfortable but that is where they're going to
bide some time before moving on and the
Quraish come looking there there are people who
are standing right above the cave, Abu Bakr
ﷺ who can see their feet he can
see their legs he's like, Ya Rasulullah all
they have to do is look down and
that's it we're done for they'll see us
in Surah Tawbah, the ayah that I recited
in the beginning Allah narrates this incident again,
Surah Tawbah is one of the last surahs
to be revealed right towards the end of
the Madini period the surah is commenting on
actually it is encouraging the believers towards the
expedition of Tabuk one of the last expeditions
of Rasulullah ﷺ it is encouraging the Sahaba
to join him on that expedition at that
point when Madina is the position that it's
in Rasulullah ﷺ is a definite authority Mecca
has been conquered Rasulullah ﷺ is raising an
army to confront no less than the Caesar,
the Roman Emperor that's what it has gotten
to at that point Allah is reminding everybody
of Rasulullah ﷺ's position in the cave and
so Allah says if you choose not to
support illa tansuroohu if you do not help
the messenger faqad nassarahu Allah Allah has already
helped him Allah is asking you to help
Rasulullah ﷺ he was asking the Sahaba to
help Rasulullah ﷺ help Allah the Quran is
very explicit in this, helping Rasulullah ﷺ is
helping Allah, helping Allah is helping Rasulullah ﷺ
helping Allah towards what?
towards the fulfillment of his attributes, embodying of
his attributes in the society, in the community
that you're living in more truth, more justice
more beauty these are the values that the
people of Quran, people of Allah people of
Rasulullah ﷺ aspire towards and it's a struggle
to get there it involves confrontations Rasulullah ﷺ
is doing that himself people are being asked
in his time and now to help Rasulullah
ﷺ in their own ways and Allah makes
it clear that this is an opportunity for
you, for you to be empowered, for you
to play your part but if you don't,
know that Rasulullah ﷺ is not helpless know
that Rasulullah ﷺ isn't utterly dependent on your
help, illa tansuroohu if you don't help the
messenger if you choose not to respond Allah
has already helped him when the disbelievers had
driven him out as second of the two
second of the two Rasulullah ﷺ and Abu
Bakr radhiAllahu ta'ala when both of them
were in that cave and he was saying
to his companion, Rasulullah said to Abu Bakr
radhiAllahu ta'ala la tahzan innaAllaha ma'ana
don't worry Allah is definitely with us so
this proclamation that the Prophet ﷺ gave to
Abu Bakr, when Abu Bakr is expressing his
concern, his fear, his anxiety Ya Rasulullah you
just have to look down Rasulullah says, what
do you think Ya Abu Bakr anithnain thalithahum
Allah those are the words of the hadith
what do you think Abu Bakr of the
two, third of whom is Allah the way
it's represented in the Quran, la tahzan don't
worry, innaAllaha ma'ana Allah is with us
Allah is here his help is with us
his support is with us, we are on
his path, and we'll get there he's just
made a prediction to Siraka we're getting, we're
getting Persia, we're getting Persia and so he's
saying very clearly to Abu Bakr radhiAllahu ta
'ala Allah is with us and it is
incredible how the ayah proceeds fa'anzalAllahu sakinatahu
alayhim so Allah sent down his serenity, his
tranquility upon him, upon him, upon Rasulullah sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam so what was it before
the serenity definitely less serenity the state of
peace and calm that he experienced after saying
this he experienced more serenity more calm after
having said it, before having said it who
is he saying that to, he's saying it
to Abu Bakr what is he saying, don't
worry Allah is with us Allah says after
he said it we sent our special sakinah,
this calm this peacefulness upon him, so if
he didn't have this peacefulness, Allah's special peacefulness
at that point that means there was some
level of there was some lacking in that
sakinah there was some maybe even fear that
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is containing controlling
taming, putting down but after having made this
statement, even that, however much it was however
little it was goes away, he gets more
and more tranquil, more and more serene, more
and more peaceful the power of words the
words that express a belief and the words
that increase that belief and these are not
empty words, these are not empty ideas, these
are ideas that are reaching Allah these are
words that are being responded to by Allah
and the response in this particular situation is
an emotional serenity Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
says words depicting serenity he attains more serenity
specially gifted to him by Allah there is
a spirituality associated it's a spiritual experience right
here this is a religious experience that Rasulullah
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is having in conversation
with Abu Bakr radhi allahu ta'ala this
is not in a state of prayer prayer,
he's not praying salah this is not Fajr,
Zuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha but it is a
dialogue that Allah is participating in Rasulullah sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam makes a comment, response to
Abu Bakr, Allah responds to Rasulullah's response and
gives him tranquility Abu Bakr radhi allahu ta
'ala himself testifies it was after Rasulullah he
heard this from Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
he experienced a degree of tranquility and that
lasted him in similar situations in times to
come as well the way he would respond
to situations of fear would be in a
far more committed state, in a far more
stable way, not that he wouldn't experience the
fear the situation creates fear and you feel
the fear you experience the fear but the
reminding with words, reminding yourself reminding others the
impact that it has it is not merely
cognitive it is not merely emotional it is
mystical, it is spiritual it is something that
is this is an experience of God, this
is an experience of Allah that Rasulullah sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam has in the cave that
the Quran narrates fa, the fa is so
telling, it is saying so much, fa, as
a consequence of Rasulullah saying those words, anzalallahu
sakinatahu alayhi, Allah sent down his tranquility upon
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam special tranquility from
Allah wa ayyadahu, and what else did he
do?
He helped him, bi junoodil lam tarauha, with
soldiers which you could not see so this
Allah's help was already with Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam on this journey Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam has already depicted that he believes
so when he's spoken to Siraka in this
instance we see that Rasulullah's reiterating that before
Abu Bakr r.a gets him more help
continued help response from Allah that he feels
internally and that he is supported externally, the
importance the significance of continuing this conversation with
Allah of repeating to ourselves and to others
such statements such reminders of faith of reliance
of commitment not because you don't feel fear
at all but precisely because of the opposite,
you do feel the fear you do feel
the difficulty the challenge, even the grief nevertheless
the words are said as if the fear
isn't there and the words in their fulfillment
from Allah have that impact that takes care
of that fear and of course this experience
is going to be different in different situations
for different people but there is so much
that we can gather so much that we
can emulate in our particular situations of being
cornered of being surrounded of feeling suffocated of
being afraid bravery is not in not experiencing
the fear and anxiety it is in fact
the exact opposite doing what you gotta do
despite the fear and anxiety and we see
how that deals with it just confronting it
persisting in it in its first instance results
in that fear increasing but you stay put,
you stay committed you are willing to face
that difficulty internally and it dissipates starts going
down you've conquered it
كَفَرُوا الصُّفْلَةً and he made the word of
those who disbelieved the lowest there's كلمات that
Rasulullah ﷺ utters and what are they represented
of?
his كلمة, his word his message his meaning
that he stands by لا إله إلا الله
there's disbelievers who are also representing a كلمة,
a word every action of a human being
is representative of a كلمة of a word
of a claim, of a belief that's how
imperative that's how important language is to us
and Allah made the كلمة of those he
disbelieved صفلة, lowest he made it to become
low so your كلمات the word that you
stand by that you live by that you
organize your life around that you organize yourself
around that كلمة is elevated by Allah
if it is true, if it aligns with
كلمة الله وكلمة الله وكلمة الله we have
to be very very careful as to what
our كلمة is and it is depicted in
word yes, by our tongue yes but more
so in our actions and if word says
another كلمة actions depict another كلمة that is
a cause for great concern and very natural
at the same time if somebody saying a
كلمة as an adolescent thinks that his كلمة
aligns with his action, one to one correspondence,
direct straight, absolute pinnacle and zenith of Iman
and عمل then you can only feel sorry
for that adolescent because this alignment of your
كلمة your claim and your action is a
strenuous difficult time consuming struggle, process that has
to be repeated again and again especially if
it is a كلمة الله if the claim
is that this is the كلمة of Allah
it takes effort it takes time so both
things, it is a cause for concern but
it is very natural not experiencing it not
recognizing the lack of alignment between our كلمة
and our action that's a cause for greater
concern والله عزيز حكيم and Allah is Almighty
and Wise الحمد لله ربنا
