Yousuf Raza – Quran Daily Surah alFatiha Ayah5

			Bismillah, alhamdulillah, wassalatu wassalamu ala rasulullah, assalamu alaykum
		

			everyone watching and listening We're continuing with surah
		

			al-fatiha, and we're going right along to
		

			the fifth ayah Ihdinas siratal mustaqeem.
		

			So once we've acknowledged the attributes of Allah
		

			once we have understood the commitment and responsibility
		

			that should follow from that understanding and And
		

			the help that is needed to fulfill that
		

			responsibility at all those various levels that we
		

			spoke about The dua opens up.
		

			When we talk about asking Allah for help,
		

			making dua to Him alone Relying upon Him,
		

			it follows from there What is the most
		

			important thing that we need help with?
		

			And that is hidayah Ihdinas siratal mustaqeem, that
		

			is guidance along the straight path And there
		

			is multiple dimensions to this ayah that we
		

			need to recognize and understand First up, this
		

			entire This journey is Represented as just that,
		

			as a journey, right?
		

			This ibadah, this relationship with Allah Subhanahu wa
		

			ta'ala is Something that you're walking a
		

			path Right?
		

			So your entire life is a journey in
		

			which you are You have destinations to go
		

			to Right?
		

			So the guidance that we're asking for is
		

			What is that destination?
		

			The guidance that we're asking for is what
		

			is the way to that destination?
		

			The guidance that we're asking for is what
		

			is the best way to be on that
		

			way?
		

			Right?
		

			So there are these multiple levels.
		

			We need to know what the destination Actually
		

			destinations are because there are Landmarks along the
		

			way that we need to be aware of
		

			as well We need to know the paths
		

			Along the way and the best way to
		

			carry ourselves Along those paths so hidayah has
		

			Guidance and this asking for guidance has all
		

			of these multiple levels Simply put we spoke
		

			about ibadah as this recognition of a responsibility
		

			before Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala foremost requiring
		

			this self-discipline We need to know what
		

			that entails What are the morals and values
		

			that we have to conform to in order
		

			to become those better people who are worthy
		

			of fulfilling?
		

			those responsibilities It relates to the rituals that
		

			are necessary Which not only will help us
		

			develop that self-discipline they will help us
		

			further Reinforce the understanding of those attributes of
		

			Allah that we started off with Okay, and
		

			then further hidayah would entail us getting to
		

			know Allah better That on this journey along
		

			this journey Part of what is required of
		

			us or actually one way of saying what
		

			ibadah is is to live within our lives
		

			attributes of Allah become Manifestations of Allah's attributes
		

			as we find it mentioned in various places
		

			in the Quran as How Allah mentions his
		

			attributes and then exhorts us to follow suit
		

			so he's forgiving We should be forgiving he's
		

			giving we should be giving and so on
		

			and so forth the better we understand Allah's
		

			attributes the better we understand ourselves in relation
		

			to those attributes and then as a manifestation
		

			of Those attributes as his khulafa as his
		

			representatives in this world Right and that too
		

			is something that will open up in surah
		

			Baqarah in the fourth ruku when we get
		

			there so there's all these multiple levels of
		

			guidance that we're asking for There's part of
		

			this guidance is Knowledge from all the various
		

			sources that it hails from So yes this
		

			entails understanding of revelation But also it entails
		

			understanding of haqq Wherever it is sourced So
		

			the messenger sallallahu alayhi wasallam said Kalimatul haqq,
		

			kalimatul hikmah rather a word of wisdom Is
		

			the lost treasure of the believer Dallatul mu'min
		

			He has a greater right to it wherever
		

			he finds it from Right so wisdom and
		

			knowledge wherever it hails from scripture Revelation other
		

			sources other than revelation and as we go
		

			on in our reading of the Quran We
		

			will see what those other sources are and
		

			how necessary They are in this journey along
		

			the path for us to be able to
		

			understand our destination in the plural The attributes
		

			of Allah that will be motivating us to
		

			get to those destinations to be enacting within
		

			our lives to carry ourselves on the path
		

			and to know that path With all the
		

			morals and values that are required of us
		

			and then most importantly What we need to
		

			recognize that that yes, this is a Siratul
		

			Mustaqim But how this Siratul Mustaqim unfolds itself
		

			in our individual lives is Going to be
		

			very different is going to be very unique
		

			So we know that Muhammad Rasulullah ﷺ is
		

			on the Siratul Mustaqim as are the other
		

			prophets Before him as are the Sahaba and
		

			then generations of people living up to that
		

			legacy after them They're all walking on the
		

			Siratul Mustaqim But not everyone walks the Siratul
		

			Mustaqim in exactly the same way The way
		

			Umar the companion of the Prophet The way
		

			he walked was different from how Abu Bakr
		

			walked And the way they walked was different
		

			from Khalid bin Waleed.
		

			The way he walked was different from Hassan
		

			bin Thabit رضي الله تعالى عنهم أجمعين They
		

			all had their unique contributions To make along
		

			this journey on this path on the straight
		

			path Right, so Along with asking for the
		

			general morals and values We're also asking for
		

			guidance as to how the specific manifestation of
		

			our Meaning in life in relation to our
		

			our our understanding of Allah and his attributes
		

			is going to be So it is all
		

			these different levels that we ask Allah to
		

			give us Hidayah Thank you so much for
