Yasir Qadhi – Wisdoms in the Quran #23 The Secret To Attaining Peace
AI: Summary ©
The title of Allah's three-legged title is his desire to draw attention to his words, and shaitan is the desire to stop people from doing the "feasible things" of shaitan, which is the goal of achieving spiritual happiness through the use of the "verbal" approach. The focus is on the "verbal" approach, rather than the "monster" approach, and the "verbal" approach is key to achieving ultimate spiritual happiness. The use of the "verbal" approach is key to achieving ultimate spiritual happiness, and the "monster" approach is key to achieving spiritual happiness.

Today's Quranic wisdom,
Surat Rad verse 23.
We've all heard this verse,
but without a doubt, it is one of
the most important
Quranic wisdoms and Quranic maxims.
The word Allah is rarely used in the
Quran,
and it has a unique function. There's no
equivalent in English.
Allah is a 3 letter word, alif lam
alif,
that is meant to draw attention
to what is to follow. It is called
harufutambi.
You wanna draw attention.
You know, the kids have their expressions. Hey,
y'all, listen up. Like, that's the attention. So
many of the kids looked up when I
said that. Right? So that's exactly what Allah
means.
Allah
is an Arabic word that is rarely used
in the Quran, maybe a half a dozen
or less in the Quran.
And the purpose is
pay attention,
listen up. Allah wants to drive a point
home. Allah is telling us to listen to
this. Allah, what is Allah wanting us to
listen
to?
Through the dhikr of Allah
shall the hearts find tranquility. Now another interesting
grammatical point
is that whenever in the Arabic language,
the object is placed before the verb,
in Arabic, this implies
exclusivity.
I'll give you an example.
You can say, We
worship you. But when you take the object
and you put before the verb,
you imply
exclusivity
that will not be implied if you use
the default na abudukah. Na abudukah means we
worship you, O Allah.
Iyaka na abud means what?
We only
worship you, O Allah. This is, again, the
Arabic language, as you know, is very profound.
And that's why if you don't know grammar
and you haven't studied grammar, you will never
fully understand the eloquence of the Quran and
the sunnah. There is no language that is
as beautiful and profound and frankly philosophical as
Arabic. And these are simple examples. So when
Allah says, Allah bi dhikrillaahi
tatmainlulquloob,
what is the message being given?
Only through
the dhikr of Allah will your hearts ever
find peace.
Only.
You will not find tranquility
in anything else, oh, believer.
You will not find comfort,
spiritual
happiness.
It will not be found
except through the dhikr of Allah.
All of this dunya and all that is
in it
will not make you happy.
All of the pleasures,
and all of the shahawats,
and all of the eating, and drinking, and
sensual desires of this dunya,
it will never ever
satisfy
your internal happiness.
That's only going to be satisfied with one
thing.
And that is why the Quran has so
many verses, and the hadith are full of
the blessings of dhikr. Time is limited, but
just to remind us because we are now
on the 25th night, and Ramadan is about
to finish. And, oh, believers, the sad reality,
wallahi, it pains me to say, but in
5 days, this masjid will be half empty.
But my advice to myself and all of
you,
don't stop the zikr of Allah just because
Ramadan is over.
Don't stop the Ibadat and the tilawat the
tilawat just because this month is finished,
Because these maxims, and gems, and rules will
apply after the month as they're applying right
now. And that is why Allah commands us
in the Quran. You yayuhalladinaamanoooothgrullahha.
How much?
The Quran?
Kathira.
There's hardly any command like this in the
Quran.
There's hardly any commandment that is encouraging this
type of worship.
Constantly remember Allah. Praise Him morning evening. And
you know in that famous long verse,
the 15 adjectives and and descriptions,
the last
women who are constantly doing dhikr of Allah,
and that's why Allah describes those who do
dhikr as being the intelligent people. It is
a sign of intelligence
to do dhikr. Allah says in the Quran
that,
There are signs for the people of intelligence
in the creation. Who are the people of
intelligence?
The number one description.
They're the ones constantly doing dhikr when they're
standing, when they're sitting, when they're lying down.
Wherever they are, they're waiting for a meeting,
they're driving their cars, they're in between Zoom
calls, whatever it is, just the tongue is
moving with dhikr. This is how Allah describes
the people of intelligence,
and that is why we are told in
the Quran that one of the biggest desires
of shaitan
is to stop us from doing dhikr. One
of the strongest
mechanisms of shaitan, and by the way, if
that is not social media and that is
not television, then what is? That is the
stopping of doing dhikr. Allah says in the
Quran that, Oh, people, oh, people
of
iman,
Shaitan is enticing you with gambling,
and he's enticing you with drinking, and his
real goal is not gambling and drinking. The
real goal, to stop you from doing the
dhikr of Allah. Notice how Allah says, actually,
yes, gambling is bad, and and drinking is
bad, but there is a more malicious goal,
and that malicious goal is what?
To stop you from doing dhikr of Allah.
Fahalantumuntahoon.
Won't you wake up? Allah is asking in
the Quran. Won't you realize this is the
goal of shaitan?
And that is why Allah describes the believers
as those who nothing will stop them from
the dhikr of Allah, not even their jobs,
nothing.
Their tijara and their transactions
will never stop them from doing dhikr of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Throughout the day, even
as they're buying and selling, even as they're
going through their work, they are always doing
dhikr of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala reminds us that it
is is through that we gain ultimate victory
even in the most difficult times, and that
is during war, during Qita. Allah says, oh,
you who believe when you meet an enemy,
When you're meeting an enemy, be firm in
your fighting. And as you are firm,
if you wanna be victorious,
even in the battlefield, as the
swords are moving, you better be doing zikr
if you wanna be successful. If you want
zikr to help you, if zikr will help
you even at times of war, then how
about throughout your daily life? How about through
your marriages? How about through your transactions? How
about forgetting barakah in your house? Allah is
saying, dhikr will help you win the battle,
the actual battle, not a metaphorical battle. So
then, how about the metaphorical battles? How about
the other battles that we do throughout the
day and night? Dhikr is what is going
to constantly help us, and that is why
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala mentions that the one
who turns away from the dhikr of Allah,
that person is gonna live a miserable life.
You're never going to attain happiness.
Whoever turns away from my dhikr
shall live a pathetic life. This is in
the Quran,
It's gonna be a dark miserable life. You
will not be happy without the dhikr of
Allah. And on the day of judgment, Allah
will resurrect you blind. And that is why
the one who does dhikr of Allah
that is the one who is going to
find ultimate happiness and ultimate sa'adah. Allah says
in the Quran,
What does this mean? There is nothing
bigger and better than the dhikr of Allah.
Whatever you can think of, whatever you can
imagine,
The dhikr of Allah is bigger and better
than anything else, and that's why when we
do dhikr of Allah,
Allah shall remember us in a way that
will protect us, in a way that will
guide us, in a way that will bless
us.
Alkurkum
fathkuruni
alkurkum.
You do my dhikr, and I will always
remember you. Of course, here, the dhikr of
Allah doesn't mean that Allah doesn't know us.
It means Allah will pay attention and care.
Allah's rahma, Allah's barakah, Allah's sakeena will come.
When we do dhikr of Allah, then all
of these blessings will come upon us. And
all Muslim, the dhikr of Allah is not
just the tongue moving with subhanallah and alhamdulillah
and la ilaha illa allallahu akbar. This is
one category of dhikr, and it is an
important category of dhikr. But the Quran is
also dhikr.
The Quran is the ultimate dhikr. Reading the
Quran, listening to the Quran, memorizing the Quran.
The salah is the dhikr.
The salah is the ultimate dhikr of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Hajj is a dhikr
Hajj is nothing but a dhikr. The siyam,
Allah says in the Quran, once you finish
the siyam, then
then do the dhikr on the day of
Eid as Allah has guided you. Every single
ritual of Allah is a dhikr. Every single
connection we have with Allah is a dhikr.
Dua is dhikr. Quran is dhikr, and our
moving of the tongues is dhikr. In fact,
it can be said, religiosity
is dhikr of Allah. Really, that's what it
is. Anything to do with the deen, that
is what is the dhikr of Allah. And
so, oh Muslim, The religiosity that you and
I have is the most important thing, and
you will not find happiness
except through this religiosity.
Ramadan is coming to an end. In 4
days, there is no more tarawih. That's it
for this year, but then the zikr of
Allah must continue. The religiosity
must remain. The connection we have with Allah,
with the religion, it must sustain, if only
because you wanna get
Muslim,
Allah
is
telling
us
there's
only all wanna be happy? Well, all Muslim,
Allah is telling us there's only one way
to actually achieve ultimate
spiritual happiness,
Allah
may
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala always make us of
those who are
And inshallah, we'll continue. Why are you quiet?
Go ahead and try it.
