Then the enemies of the enemies of
will stand against it. And we have talked
last week about how the enemies of Islam
and how those who wanted to stick to
their old ways of life,
they did whatever was in their capacity to
make sure that Islam does not grow.
And mainly, one of their main
thing was to make sure that they stop
the effect of the Quran.
And we spoke last week about the importance
of Quran
and what role it played
in people converting to Islam, what role it
played
in basically spreading the word of Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala.
So Subhan Allah
as we know, that was, you know, all
the tortures that the Muslim went through in
their recitation of their Quran or their propagation
of the Quran,
we should understand that that was just one
portion of their torture and one portion.
There was a lot more that the Sahaba
and the prophet
went through. And today, inshallah, we're gonna go
through some of those tortures, some of those
painful events that they went through, and we
can realize and find solace in that for
ourselves as well.
We all go through different struggles and different
tribulations,
and when we see that the prophet
has gone through something similar,
but in fact he has gone through something
even more severe,
Same thing but more severe, that it makes
us feel like, okay, you know what? This
is the sunnah of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
You will not find a change in the
sunnah of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. This isn't
just something you and I are going through.
This is something every single prophet has gone
through. This is something the prophet salallahu alaihi
wasallam has gone through. This is something the
Sahaba has gone through. This is something the
Anbiya has gone through. So for you and
I to face some of those difficulties,
for you and I to face some of
those, you know, tribulations,
just know that
it might be a it might be a
good sign that maybe you're on the right
path, and that's why you have all of
this animosity
against you. So one of those things that
they did against the prophet
was
that they would
ridicule him. They would make fun of him.
Whatever way they're pass they it was possible
for them to make fun of, they would
make fun of. One time, there was a
time, a period of time, in which the
prophet did
not get.
So whenever the prophet
would get,
he would start to recite it, he would
start to teach it to his companions,
and it would be a buzz that would
be going around.
But now that the isn't coming,
the people started to realize that it didn't
come. And the some of the ladies of
the they started to go to the prophet
and
started saying stuff like, oh, your stopped coming
to you?
You're not getting anything anymore?
What happened?
And so
just imagine how that feels.
You have somebody coming to you and it's
because
there's a small gap and somebody oh, your
shaitan stopped coming to you?
And subhanallah,
this is where Surah Al Duh comes down.
Where Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells the prophet
salallahu alaihi wa sallam,
that your lord has not forsaken you. Yes.
The people are telling you, oh, your lord
has forsaken you. You're not getting anymore. He
left you, he this, he that. But Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala is coming to confirm to
him that I have not left you. This
is just a test. This is just for
reason, but I have not left you. Right?
This is one of those things. Now besides
that, they started to look for ways to
hurt him. And one of the ways to
hurt somebody
You see,
you may think that the most severe punishment
is physical.
It actually isn't.
The proof for that is the prophet
said that, I have gone through more pain,
more
grief, more pain than any all of the
prophets.
Sometimes you think there are There has been
prophets who have been cut into pieces.
There have been prophets that have gone through
all types of physical pains. The prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam also went through physical pains, for
example, in thigh he was stoned,
in
right? His tooth broke, his cheek was bleeding,
he's gone through it. But can you say
is it compares is it You know, can
you compare it to that of the other
that have actually been slaughtered?
You can't. So how can the prophet
make such a claim that he has gone
through more pain than the other
Well over here we realize that when you
recognize the pain of the prophet
it was not just physical pain. The prophet
salallahu alaihi wa sallam has gone through so
much of psychological
pain
because of these people that you cannot imagine.
Psychological
pain of people accusing you of someone who
you're not.
Psychological pain of people making up stuff about
you,
psychological pain of people making other people against
you.
These are pains, wallahi, that are more heavier
than the mount Uhud on somebody.
These are pains that will stop your sleep.
These are pains that will stop your comfort.
When people go ahead and they start accusing,
when people go ahead and start naming,
when people go ahead and say something about
you that is not true.
These were the things that were done to
the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
They would go to the people. Anybody would
come, oh, Muhammad,
he's on a mission. You know what his
mission is? His mission is to divide between
a father and a son.
His mission is to split families. That's his
mission.
We know clearly that wasn't the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam's mission. We know clearly that
was not his effort.
Just imagine
that every single person coming and this is
what the people are telling him, what is
he feeling in his heart.
Similarly, the prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam is
accused. Oh, him? He's a magician. He does
magic on people.
And sin the prophet
didn't do that. So just imagine that type
of pain that he's going through and some
of these pains you might not be able
to relate to it, but think, you know,
it's actually one time I gave a halakkafajar
halakkaf in this masjid and one uncle came
to me and and he said, you know
what you need to talk about? You need
to talk about how
there's rumors spreading in the community. Somebody will
bring up something that you did 40 years
ago and they will try to bring it
up today to create division or
or some type of friction between you and
your loved ones. That's what's going on. He
told me that. So then I was like,
okay, uncle Insha'Allah, maybe next time I have
a opportunity, I will address it. Today is
that opportunity where you see this being done
to the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam. So, yeah,
you might not have somebody saying that you're
a magician and you're this and you're that,
but it's very common in our households
that what we do is, for example, we
might just make up some store, not even
make up sometimes we might think that, oh,
we heard something,
and then we might start spreading it amongst
other people.
And next thing you know, we don't know
what type of pain we are making that
family go through, what type of pain we're
making that individual go through.
Even the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, some of
the people didn't actually make up the lies
but they heard it and when they heard
it, they would pass it on to other
people.
So it is for us to understand
that this pain
of spreading something about somebody, of claiming something
against somebody,
right, or making up something against somebody,
this is more severe than grabbing a stick
and hitting somebody with it.
This is more severe than punching somebody in
the face.
So just like today, you're not gonna come
and punch me in the face, just like
today, you're not gonna go and punch somebody
in the face, next time you go and
say something about me, next time you go
and say something about your neighbor, next time
you go and say something about that, Think
twice, thrice,
or that what am I actually doing? Because
what in reality, what we are doing is
we're causing
more severe pain to this person than we
may think.
Right? So this is actually very common
in today's household. Somebody might say something about
somebody's wife, somebody's husband, somebody's child, somebody's this,
somebody's that. And next thing you know, that
person is going through days days of pain
that this person accused me, this person made
things about me, this person said about me
what is not true, especially, you know, especially
when you are very very careful about your
image.
When you're very careful about making sure
that you give the best image possible,
those type of people are very hurt because
this is all they've worked for. For instance,
let's say,
you work all your life
to buy one beautiful car, and then somebody
comes and puts a scratch on that car,
that's not a scratch on the car, that's
a scratch on your heart.
When you work to develop your reputation,
when you work to develop your image,
the image of a Sadiq, the image of
Al Amin, and then somebody comes and says
something contrary to that, that is a scratch
on the heart.
That is more painful than a scratch on
the skin.
And so that is what the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wasallam is going through. One day somebody
would come and they would say, oh, he's
a magician. Another day, he's a soothsayer. Another
say, he's a poet. Another say, he's splitting
between families. Another day he's has a shaitan,
another day he's sick.
Just imagine
one of you guys take on a mission
that from now on you're going to give
dawah to 4, 5 people every single day.
Right? And the news spread amongst the people,
oh, this guy,
he is he's he's he's crazy.
Don't listen to him. And you start to
spread you start to hear people spreading that
this person is crazy. What type of pain
is that going to cause you?
This is what the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam has gone through. Not just that, they
would come with the most weird things like,
oh, you know, you're a prophet, right? Go
bring, bring us a miracle.
Bring us a miracle and then we'll believe
that you're a prophet. And
And the prophet would ask Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala. You Allah,
you bring something. And one time when he
did that, there was a split in the
moon, very clear.
But what would they say? Oh no, he
just bewitched our eyes.
He bewitched our eyes.
That's why the prophet
stopped asking for miracles
because he knows that they're not going to
believe it. And not just that, when Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala is going to continuously try
to give
miracles and you still don't believe it, then
get ready for the adab of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala. And the prophet said allah alaihi
wa sallam did not want the adab to
come on his people. Therefore, he stopped asking.
But very clear miracles have come, but anytime
they would come, they would just dismiss it.
Oh, this is just like this, oh, this
is just like that.
Then they continued on with their struggle,
they continued on with whatever they can do
to basically challenge the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam. They're like, you know what? We need
to ask him questions. We need to quiz
him.
Right? So first of all, stopping him from
reciting the Quran,
trying to go to his uncle, bargaining with
him, making fun of him. Right? Challenging him
to get a Quran. We mentioned like 6
different ways of torture. This isn't enough. This
isn't enough for them. So now they're like,
okay, guess what we should do? We should
go and ask him questions
and basically set him up. Like, okay, we
don't believe in the oneness of god but
let's go to the people who believe in
the oneness of god and let's try to
speak to them and maybe they will give
us questions that will allow us to basically
get him and say, you're just making things
up. Right? So they realized that the people
who believed in the oneness of God at
the time were the.
They went all the way to Madinah and
said, hey, listen. We have this guy who
came, who's claiming to be a prophet, who's
claiming the oneness of God, all of that.
Do you have any questions that you guys
can give us so we can go and
question him, we can go and quiz him?
They're like, yes, ask him 3 questions.
Yes, go and ask him 3 questions.
They said, go and ask him about the
people
who went into the cave and then apparently
they slept for a long period of time,
they disappeared from community.
What is that?
Then they said, I ask him also
about
this one great leader who traveled the east
and the west
And then also asked him about
right? To ask him these three questions. When
Aish came back, they're all happy. Oh, we
got Muhammad this time. They asked the prophet
and
the prophet
when he heard these questions, he didn't just
jump
in. Sometimes, you know, we get questions,
oh, this thing about fiqh or this thing
or this thing. It's not necessary that we
answer right away. Sometimes it's better to say,
okay, let me find out, let me get
the answer, let me this, that, then answer
properly.
Prophet did not just jump in. He's like,
okay, just give me some time. He waited.
He actually said, come to me tomorrow.
But then he didn't say inshallah.
So the way he did not come,
the way he did not come for a
good 1, 2 weeks of time, right? 2
weeks now the people started to make even
more fun and oh, you see we got
him, he couldn't answer the questions.
Then after that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala sent
Jibreel Alaihi Salam and he sent him with
Surah Al Kahf.
In Surah Al Kahf, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
talks about the young men who left to
protect their iman, went into a cave. Allah
made them go to sleep for over 300
years and they left their community.
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala answered this question.
They're like question 1 answered.
Then after that they asked they asked about
this great men who went between east and
west Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala brings the story
of the question
answered.
And then when it comes to the ruh,
right, Allah
answers.
The ruh is a matter that only Allah
knows about it and nobody else.
Right? And so when they when they when
he got all the questions right, again they
were shocked.
So you realize
that there's a common pattern.
The common pattern is that when they listen
to the Quran, they know it's out of
this world, but they don't believe.
When they look at the character of the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, they know that
it's a character of a prophet, but they
don't believe.
When they challenge the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam for a miracle and the miracle comes,
they don't believe.
When they quiz the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam, they don't believe.
So you see a common pattern is that
they have already decided
that we are not going to believe.
In fact, our goal and our mission sometimes
we have this stubborn mentality in other aspects
of life. Some things in life, we make
up our mind
and then that's it. It doesn't matter who
comes with what proof,
doesn't matter who tries to, like,
10 people, 20 people come to you to
try to explain the matter. You're just like,
no. I don't believe.
I don't think so. Right? So it kinda
tells us that this, you know,
hard headedness,
this stubbornness,
this will actually stop you from a lot
of khair.
So we need to reflect over our own
lives. Yes.
Islam has come to us all of that,
but reflect within our own lives.
Are we hard headed? Are we stubborn? Or
is it that sometimes when we wake up
our mind, that's it. Nothing can convince us
otherwise.
Or is it that we have an open
mind and sometimes we can look and say
that, you know what? Let me just hear
the other side. Let me be open to
the fact that I could be mistaken.
Let me be open to the fact that
maybe somebody else is correct.
Let me be open to that and when
you're open to that Allah will
give you a lot of because of that.
That's one thing that we learn. The second
thing that we learn as I said is
that this was a method used by the
Kufar
to torture the prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam.
It is a very severe type of punishment.
It is a very severe type of torture
to accuse someone, to say something about someone
even if you did not make up the
lie,
even if you did not say something,
even if you did not make it up,
go and find out what the reality is.
Don't just start spreading stuff. Sometimes we hear
stuff, people are like, oh,
I heard from this guy that this is
what happened in your madrasa.
And sometimes I'm just like, where did where
did you come up with this?
And why is the person coming to you
and discussing it with you? Why isn't he
coming to me or coming to one of
the teachers in the madrassa and discussing it?
Which tells you their relationship very clearly. For
example, if somebody is actually concerned about you
and actually cares about you what he would
do is come to you, hey
I heard this thing is it true
and try to clarify with you. Right? But
instead of that when you go to another
person
you know very clearly that this person has
wrong intentions.
This person has wrong intentions because what's the
point? What's the point of going somewhere else?
So we have to look within our lives
that rather than going left, rather than going
right, rather than spreading what people have started
or rather than making up rumors, rather than
making up stuff about people, it is very
important that we do not make other people
go through these tortures. Why?
When you make other people go through these
tortures,
you are doomed to them.
When you do zulum to them, understand one
thing that the dua of the oppressed person
is never rejected.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam tells us
about 3 people whose dua is never rejected
and one of those people is the oppressed
person.
So when you are gonna go and cause
pain to somebody
because of all of that, that is when
you know that you are oppressing that person
and Allah
continuously
tells us in the Quran that Allah
does not love
the oppressors. Allah does not love the oppressors.
So do not do any oppression to yourself
by going and doing these actions that the
Quraysh did to the prophet
And this makes us understand.
It makes us understand what? When the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said
that I have gone
through more pain than any prophet.
This makes us understand how.
He has gone through psychological
pain.
He has gone through pain that has put
his heart at unease for days. That's why
when he went to
remember when he first got the and he
went to
Warakatul Munafal told him that your people are
gonna kick you out
and he's like, people are gonna kick me
out? Me? Why? What have I done? He
couldn't believe that.
Why? Because the prophet knew
that his reputation
was so
clean, his reputation was so
spotless
that he could not believe that people would
kick him out. In fact, the people did
not just kick him out.
The people first tried to smear his reputation,
tried to make it whatever possible,
put all the dirt on it, and then
they kicked him out.
And I will conclude with one thing.
It does not matter how much effort you
do,
what happened at the end of the day
to a prophet
Today,
the person who was accused,
the person who was called names, the person
who had rumors against him, the person who
had the whole entire everything, all the efforts,
the media, everything against
to make his name
despicable.
Today the cleanest name alive is Muhammad
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. Today that is the
cleanest name and the people who try to
make the effort
to smear his name,
to
create fitna,
to create all of that. Those are the
people
that has the worst name today. Today when
we say Abu Jahl, we say La Anatullah.
When we say Muhammad, we say Rasoolullah.
That is the difference. So don't ever think
that 2 things. If you're ever going to
smear somebody's reputation
that you're going to take away. In fact,
you're elevating his status.
Know that when you're trying to smear somebody's
reputation, you're elevating your status and also know
that you are destroying your own reputation.
This is something and on the contrary we
understand this as well that if somebody is
after your reputation,
if somebody is after your name, if somebody
is trying to do something to you, understand
that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala at the end
of the day
is only going to glorify,
is only going to beautify
your name, your reputation,
and take care of that for you so
you have nothing to worry about. May
Allah allow us to learn from the seed
of the prophet, salallahu alayhi wa sallam. Allow
us to follow in the footsteps of the
prophet, salallahu alayhi wa sallam.
