Yasir Khan – Seerah Session

It was the time that Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala wanted to give to the Prophet to
get ready. Because as we said, what he
isn't just something small, it's not something ordinary.
What he used to be so heavy
on the prophet
that one time the prophet's
calf was on top of Zaydub Nuharissa's calf,
and Zaydub Nuharissa said when the came, I
thought that my calf, my leg would shatter.
That's how heavy it was. In fact, when
the prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam would be on
a horse or on a camel and the
wahi would come, the camel would have to
sit down
because of the heaviness of the wahi. So
it's not something small.
Therefore and and and more importantly, it's the
first time that it's happening.
And so, therefore,
you know, the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam needs
time to comprehend
what is actually going on. And another thing
that's very beautiful
and, you know, subhanallah.
Nowadays, when you have enemies of Islam trying
to attack,
one main thing of Islam, you know, they
say when you when you wanna get rid
of something you need to cut it from
the roots.
So, what is the roots of our religion?
The roots of our religion is
because that is the that is straight coming
from Allah telling us how we should live
our life. So, when the enemy wants to
target, what they will target is
So, if they wanna put doubt into anything,
what they will put doubt in is Wahi.
So that's why we even have today or
even in the past, some Western scholars who
will say what?
They will say that Wahi,
this was a state of psychosis. This was,
and we explained some of those
in the past as well, but one thing
that they say is that, oh, it was
planned.
Okay. If somebody is planning prophethood,
then we should know that when somebody's planning
something so big, they usually wanna come out
as a hero.
They wanna show people that, yeah, I have
the strength. I was able to take care
of it. I went and I took care
of the matter. You won't go and start
saying that, oh
cover me up. I I I I'm What
is this going on with me? You won't
be in shock. Right? Why? Because you planned
that you already know. You won't be, you
know, in this state of shock.
So this goes to prove to us that
all of these incidents even though they seem
so small,
there's
there's the wisdom of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
behind it. And you know that wisdom today,
at that time,
you know, why he start for a period
of time.
So how about I'm not sure if it
really matter to them. They're like, okay, there's
small gap.
But to us today,
when there's scholarship
that is invested
in cutting the roots of the we
know the hikmah of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
was to show that, okay. This wasn't something
planned.
This wasn't just something a state of mind.
This was something that Allah has
brought upon the prophet
and he needed time to get accustomed to
it, to get used to it, to realize
what it is, to start anticipating
it, and therefore he went and started to
look around where is the angel that came
to me and started to tell
me So now when the angel comes back,
the angel says that, oh,
you are Rasoolullah,
you are the prophet and I am Jibreel.
And at this point again the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam is running home saying cover
me up and this is where the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam gets his job description.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells them what you
need to do.
We covered this in detail last time.
Oh, the one who's wrapped up, get up.
Go warn the people.
This is the job
of every single prophet.
To go and warn the people, and this
was the job of the Prophet
And by extension it's yours
and mine as well
to do something,
you know, is wrong. We as Muslims
have to stick with what's ethical, what's moral,
no matter what.
This was the job of every single prophet.
Musa alayhis salam, he saw something unethical.
He stood against it. He saw something Ibrahim
alaihi salam, he saw something idol worshiping. It
doesn't make sense. It goes against
the
the oneness of Allah
He stood against it. And so similarly, the
for us is now,
right now the job description is giving, which
is what? Get up, start warning the people
by claiming the greatness of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala.
So once we come to this revelation
up till now,
the rest of
the is an explanation
of this
these verses.
The rest of the
is explanation
of this job description. The prophet was
given this job, now we will see how
he performed this job.
We will see whether he got up or
no.
Whether he left the comfort of this dunya
or no. When he's covered up in a
blanket today,
and many years later,
when he's cut when he's when he's laying
down on date palm trees, and Omer Radhiallahu
Anhu goes and sees him and says, O
prophet of Allah.
Why you have marks of the date fiber
on your back?
And the emperor of Persia and Rome are
sleeping in silk.
Why can't you have something comfortable?
And the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam's response
was what?
Don't you wish you Omar
that for them
they get their luxury and comfort in this
world and we get it in the hereafter?
So, this now is an explanation
of
Did the prophet
do this job or no? Did he get
up? Did he leave his did he leave
his his, being wrapped in a blanket or
no? Yes, he did. He's no longer sleeping
in a comfort, you know, just forgetting everything
else. No. Boom. Did he get up or
no? Go
and warn the people. Did the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam do this or no?
We see we're going to see inshaAllah once
we start we'll go to the point where
he starts to give a dawah
publicly,
even though the whole tribe and everybody stands
against him, he is still giving
So, this is now a description of that.
Talk about the greatness of Allah.
And did the prophet
do that or no? The Quraysh comes to
him and they say, Yeah, Muhammad,
if you want,
we will bring bring make you the most
wealthiest of the people.
If you want, we will make you the
most powerful of the people.
If you want to marry the most beautiful
person, the most beautiful lady, we will bring
that to you.
If you want the most advanced
doctor or, you know, we will bring that
to you. What do you want?
And they keep on going back and forth
with the compromises.
And what happens? What is his response?
He tells his uncle, oh my uncle, if
they were to bring the sun and put
it in my right hand, and the moon
and put it in my left hand, will
not give up
This is
This is
Today,
when you are offered a job
that is $20,000
more,
but it has a slight bit of compromising
your deen. Are you doing
are you saying no, Allah is great, I
will leave this job, or are you going
for that job or no?
This is why we're saying that this is
the the the explanation.
These verses, the whole seerah of the prophet
is
the explanation of his his his, job mission,
and by extension us as well.
So we in this life will also be
offered,
will also have all of these things.
But do we decide to take this duniya,
to take the comfort of this world,
and we give up our for it?
Because if we're doing that, we are definitely
not on the same mission of the prophet
Now, of course, this does not mean we
give the dunya up and say and inshallah,
I'll bring up a story of Abdul Rahman
of Nahu, how he became one of the
richest man. But
their
wealth never for a second
allowed them to give up these words.
Right? To clean your clothes and the scholars
say, not just clean your clothes but clean
inside.
Purify yourself.
Purify yourself. You know,
one scholar was giving an example. He said
that
we all have to be We
all
have to give the divine light.
We have to give the Hidayah. We Well,
we don't give the Hidayah, Allah does. But
we have to call towards Hidayah.
But if we don't have it within ourselves,
what do we expect to give?
They say, many of you might remember back
home, when you have to take the water
out of a well.
When you have to take the water out
of a well, and let's say there's no
water at the end,
what does the bucket come up with instead
of water?
Dirt, soil.
So if we are empty of this nur,
if we are empty
of guidance ourselves,
in fact, we are going to be spreading
misguidance.
And that's why it's so important for us
to take this point
That not just your clothes,
but even inside we sit for a time
in which we rectify
our hearts through the dhikr of Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala.
The prophet tells us, just like metal rusts,
the hearts rust and it's only through the
dhikr of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala that that
rust is removed. That's the w two for
it. It removes the rust.
Right?
So, we need to take this time to
go sit down,
reflect,
ponder, and start to think and remove
all the
ridge, all the the
filth, remove all of that and bring the
nur of Allah into
our hearts.
This is part of the mission of the
prophet
Right?
Over
here, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is saying, sometimes
the people who are
doing the effort of deen and, you know,
they're guy they're calling other people towards deen.
Shaitan comes at one point to * it
away.
And how does he * it away?
You got up.
You start to call people, you start to
glorify Allah, you clean your heart, you're doing
the work. But at this point shaitan is
gonna come and nullify everything. How?
Because you are now doing it so that
other people can see.
So that other people can come and start
saying, oh, masha Allah.
You you're doing a great job.
You are basically seeking from people to praise
you.
You want to increase that praise. You keep
on telling people, oh, I did this, this,
this, and now we're doing this, this, this,
that. And so what are you gaining at
the end of the day? So that you
could gain more and more praise from people
and favors from people and all of that.
And so, Shaitan comes over here
to nullify all of that.
Right? So, this is what we have to
be very careful of as well. That yes,
we may get up
and we may start
to take our job serious as du'a, as
a
as the one who calls to Allah. We
may clean ourselves inside out. We may proclaim
the greatness of Allah
but remember that you're only and only doing
it for the sake of Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala.
And subhanAllah, that's why you see. Look at
the Prophet salallahu alaihi wa sallam. There were
so many times
where he could've told the people, look what
I've done for you.
There's so many times where he could've, you
know, showed the people that, hey,
increase
my salary or increase my this or that.
He did not take a single dime.
And that is the of the
They don't take well for what they do.
And that's We have to do the same
thing. When we are doing the work of
deen,
and remember, when I say work of deen,
this doesn't necessarily mean you have to become
an to start doing that. It doesn't mean
you have to sit on this table to
start doing that. Every single one of us
is doing the work of deen whether we
like it or not.
The fact that you're sitting over here you're
doing the work of deen.
Why? Because you're sitting over here to know
the prophet
and inshallah your intention is to be like
the prophet
and that is doing the work of deen.
You know, I was studying in the Islamic
history
that you see,
a lot of times we confuse between
the growth of the Islamic Empire and the
growth of Islam.
In the very beginning,
yes, Islamic Empire grew,
that does not mean Islam grew. People were
still Christians, Jews, whatever they wanted to follow.
Islam grew much later and very slowly,
and the way it grew
is by people going and
basically coming part of the people,
to become part of the people
and become, you know, acquainted with who they
are and start to influence
them through their.
And one of the people, the the tie
the group of people that had extremely a
lot of influence in that is the the
the the
people of
It's it's it's it's history. Whether we like
it or not, it's history. We could go
read it. Those were people
of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala. They focus so
much
on inner rectification,
on removing this ridge,
removing this shirk, removing any filth from their
hearts that
when people saw them, they're like, these are
the people.
I was in Medina one time,
and one doctor Saab and scholar, he came
to us and he asked us a question.
He said, all of you guys are going
to America. You guys need to be
You guys need to call to Allah.
And so then he asked a question. He
said, who you know who is a
dai? I was like, who's a dai? We
start to answer, oh, a person who calls
25 times a day, a person who does
this, that, different things. He said, a dai
of Allah
is the one who walks
and people are inspired and say, we wanna
be like the sky.
That is the level that we need to
reach. And the way we reach that
is by taking that time to rectify within.
And so then we go on
that
Right?
Allah is telling him that look, you need
to be patient because what is about to
come your way,
you're gonna have stones and rocks and hurdles
and burdens in your way. I'm telling you
ahead of time, be patient. Has anything happened
to the prophet
yet? It's a second Did the Quraish stand
against him? No. Did the people of Taif
kick him out? No. Did he get injured?
No. So why is Allah telling him to
do
Anybody ever came to you and told you
do without anything happening?
Usually, when some calamity hits you, somebody's gonna
come and say do. Right?
Over here, there's no calamity on the prophet
salallahu alaihi wa sallam. Why is Allah telling
him to do?
Because this is a projection that you're gonna
need it. It's about to come. And did
it come or no?
It came. It came. That's why I say
that these ayaats,
they summarize the whole entire for you. The
whole
entire the mission of the prophet
is covered for you right here. From now
on, if you write these, everything we cover
in the you could be like, okay. This
belongs to the first
This belongs to the second one
This belongs to the third one
This belongs to this, and you will be
able to
you'll categorize the whole entire into this
into this. So when this now comes to
the prophet
of course, what is he gonna start doing?
He's gonna start to call people towards Islam.
So who's the first person to accept Islam?
Who's the first person?
Khadija Radiallahu Anha.
Khadija is the first person.
Now
some people will be like Abu Bakr, some
will say Ali
some will say Zayd ibn Harifa radiAllahu anhu,
some will say
But the way the scholars put a consensus
to all is that, yes, Khadija
was definitely the first woman, and you could
definitely make the case of the first person
as well. Because he goes and what does
she say?
What does she say? She said, no, your
lord will never forsaken you.
Right? Your lord will never forsaken you. You
are of the best character and you're this
and this and this, all of that. So
she basically
knows that whatever it is, she doesn't know
what's going on but she knows that it's
Haqq. She takes him to
We spoke
about saying that, listen, the same angel that's
coming to you was the angel that came
to Musa alaihis salam. So you are a
prophet and your people are gonna kick you
out. So
also said that I wish I was alive
when your people will kick you out and
I will I would be able to help
you. Now
passed away, but we know that he's also
accepted Islam. So we know that the first
elderly person
who accepted
The first woman who accepted
The first child who accepted
was Alir radiAllahu anhu. Why? Because Alir radiAllahu
anhu used to live with the Prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam. Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
is the one who raised them. Who could
tell me how old was Alir radiAllahu anhu?
10 years old. Alir
who was only 10 years old and subhanAllah,
I want you to focus on these ages
that how the prophet
took care of every single age.
He was a youth coordinator, imam, religious director,
all all in one, one package.
Right? He's taking care of everything.
So, he Ali
was only 10 years old.
Right? And then Abu Bakr
Now, Abu Bakr
is a little bit older, but he's the
one person that's consensus amongst scholars that he
never questioned the Prophet
immediately when the Prophet
told them, he said, yes. You're right. And
you know one of the reasons for that
is what? Because he was a good hearted
person from before,
and he did not believe in shirk and
alcohol and all of that stuff. He did
not do that. So you should keep in
mind
that when your heart when you keep your
heart clean
and there's any good,
it will your heart will automatically accept it.
See, a lot of times,
we sometimes feel like, you know,
what's right, what's wrong, what's you know, we
don't know where to navigate.
You work on your heart. I tell you
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will automatically put in
your heart.
Right? Why? Because the prophet tells
us,
Every single son of Adam,
he's born with a natural disposition to know
what's right, what's wrong.
Later on, it gets corrupted. But if you
keep on cleaning your heart and making it
go back to the stage of fitra,
then anytime there's truth, there's
you will never doubt it for a second,
you will know that this is it.
You'll know that this is it, and you'll
take advantage and you'll be the first one
to to to get to it. And so,
Abu Bakr radiAllahu anhu was the first one
to do that. Now, Abu Bakr radiallahu anhu
immediately goes
and he starts to call towards Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala. And again, this was a part
where I had 2, 3 stories in mind,
but we're already out of time. So, inshallah,
next week we will cover
who,
were the first people, the first community
of Islam,
the first community of Muslims. And we will
share a few stories, we will cover that.
And, you know, one thing I would like
to emphasize, and if I do forget, one
of you could remind me, is the comparison
between
the Muslims today
and having this individualistic
personality that, okay, how can I grow
and how can me I can verify that
this is correct? This is whereas the Sahaba
radiallahu anhu, they had a communal
society where they together work to raise themselves
up.
We will be talking about the first Muslim
community next week. May Allah
accept from us.
