this, and we would not have been guided

And wa iyyaka, and only for you, nastaeen.
Do we strive.

Respected brothers and sisters in Islam.
There is absolutely nothing that you and I
possess in our lives, that we can stand
behind and claim that this is my achievement
all by myself.
Everything that you and I have in our
lives, every bounty, our health, our wealth, everything
in between, is from Allah azza wa jalla.
In fact we find in various narrations that
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam taught us, one
of the prophetic sunan, one of the supplications
that we recite when we wake up in
the morning.
Ahyaana ba'dama amatana.
Alhamdulillahi allathee.
Again, our praise is due to Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala, the one.
Ahyaana, who allowed us to wake up.
Ba'dama amatana, when we were not awake.
And then, wa ilayhi nushur, and to Him
is our return.
So many people went to bed last night,
but they did not wake up.
So many people woke up this morning, but
they were not able to crawl out of
their beds.
It is incumbent upon us that we constantly
remain grateful to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Everything that you and I have is from
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Everything.
And as we stand here, I'm standing, as
we are present here, for this first Jum
'ah of 2025, I wanted to share some
reflections that I myself believe I need myself
first the most.
And then inshallah ta'ala, hopefully they are
beneficial for everyone else here.
Ameen, Ya Rabbil Alameen.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala bless me
with the necessary sincerity.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow me
to internalize what I'm saying from the member
of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
And last but not least, may anything that
this sinful existence is sharing from this podium,
hopefully it is beneficial for the rest of
us.
Ameen, Ya Rabbil Alameen.
My dear respected brothers and sisters in Islam,
our existence did not begin in this dunya.
My existence does not begin from the moment
I can remember things.
Some of us can recall things since we
were 5 years old, some of us when
we were 3 years old, some of us
when we were 7 years old, and that's
okay.
But the point is this, respected brothers and
sisters in Islam, is that our journey did
not begin here.
As I like to say, on God's green
earth.
It did not begin here.
It started before that.
See, we find in the Qur'an, Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala asked us all a
question, in alami arwah, in the realm of
the souls.
As we find from various narrations from Rasulullah
sallallahu alaihi wasallam, that Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala again in the Qur'an asked a
question, أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ Am I not your Rabb?
Am I not your Lord?
قَالُوا بَلَا شَهِدْنَا All of us at once,
all of our souls in fact, all of
our arwah and souls responded back to Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala, بَلَا يَسْمَيَ اللَّهُ You
are my Lord.
At once, بَيَكْ وَقْت At once.
That is one of the reasons why we
are sent into this world.
One of the reasons, as a test.
That yesterday, O soul, yesterday you affirmed my
existence.
Yesterday you responded by saying بَلَا Yes, my
Rabb.
Are you going to remain steadfast upon that
in this dunya or not?
This journey that we're on, I was sharing
with some students yesterday, it really is a
journey of a lifetime.
It really is, if you think about it.
We all know when we showed up on
this planet, but we don't know who's next.
We don't know who's next.
And that is the test of this life
that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has blessed
us with, لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلَا With Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala, it was never about
the quantity, it was all about the quality.
أَحْسَنُ عَمَلَا The best of deeds.
The last hadith of Bukhari talks about وَنَضَعُ
مَوَازِينَ الْقِسْتِ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ Our actions are not
gonna be counted, our actions are gonna be
weighed.
It is understood that the way we live
our lives is the way we will leave
this world.
And the way we leave this world is
the way we will be resurrected and subsequently
be presented to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
I want us to, in a way, pause
and reflect.
That every Jum'ah that I'm coming and
I'm, alhamdulillah, benefiting.
Because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us,
فَذَكِّرْ فَإِنَّ ذِكْرَةً فَعُلْ مُؤْمِنِينَ Remind, because reminders
benefit the believers.
We come as a تذكير, as a reminder
to each other.
The shortness of this life and the vastness
of the hereafter.
How beautiful is my Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala, how amazing is my Allah, that arguably
speaking, on one hand, we have countless opportunities
from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
It's all about how we look at it.
Every first Jum'ah of the year to
the next, and Rajab started few days ago
as well.
Every Ramadan to the next Ramadan.
Even when we reflect on our birthdays, that,
hey Yasir, you're this many years old now,
what did you do in your last year?
Every first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah, and
the last year, first 10 days of Dhul
Hijjah.
I'm just sharing examples of the increment of
one year.
Throughout the year, we know this.
Again, this is a reminder for myself first.
We go through these reminders.
Ramadan is 50 something days away.
Where was my iman last Ramadan?
And where do I want my iman to
be this Ramadan?
How was my relationship with Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala Eid al-Fitr?
And where do I see myself in my
relationship with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is
coming Eid al-Fitr.
But then if you narrow it down more
and more, one year is a long time.
Of course, on this planet, in our context
for now.
Every month that goes by.
Every week that goes by.
Between two Jum'ahs.
This Jum'ah and last Jum'ah.
And then insha'Allah ta'ala, upcoming Jum
'ahs, and Allah knows how many Jum'ahs
we have left on this planet.
But to even narrow it down more, one
Shaykh came to us in South Africa, and
shared a beautiful example.
He said that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
has blessed us with so many opportunities to
get closer to Him, to strengthen our iman,
to recognize Him, to gain His ma'rifah,
to submit to Him, to establish our deen
in our lives, to strengthen my iman, to
strengthen my conviction in Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
That let alone the year, the month, and
the hour, every breath, he explained, every breath
is like a precious pearl.
Every breath that we take, every heartbeat that
we have, is an amazing opportunity from Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is willing to
forgive.
So long we are willing to seek forgiveness.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala loves us.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is love.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is the one
that created love.
إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَيْن يُشْرَكَ بِهِ وَيَغْفِرُ
مَا دُونَ ذَلِكَ لِمَن يُشَعَّرُ Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala will not forgo or let go
of shirk.
But anything besides that, as long as we
seek forgiveness from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will forgive.
We find in the narration that Rasulullah sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam came across a woman and
she was imprisoned.
And she had a newborn child and she
was restless.
She was restless because she did not have
her child.
After some time, she was reunited with her
newborn baby.
And then the love that this mother showed
to her newborn, holding this child against herself
and just showing that love and affection.
And Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and the
sahaba are witnessing this.
And upon seeing that, Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam taught us a lesson by asking the
sahaba radiyallahu anhu mujmi'in, that, oh my
sahaba, I'm paraphrasing of course, وَأَوْ كَمَا كَانَ
اشْعَرْتُ السَّلَامُ Oh my sahaba, you see the
love that this mother has for her newborn.
Yes, oh Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
How do you think Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala will deal with the mu'min, with the
believer?
Do you think that this mother would ever
intentionally, and this is something we can't even
fathom, right?
We can't even begin to think about this.
Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam asked the sahaba,
radiyallahu anhu mujmi'in, that, oh my beloved
sahaba, do you think this mother would ever
intentionally hurt this child?
And some narrations, do you think this mother
would ever throw this newborn into the fire?
And the sahaba radiyallahu anhu mujmi'in said,
no, never, oh Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
We can't even imagine that, just like you
and I can.
So Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, that
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala loves his servant
70 times more than the love of a
mother.
The love of a mother is an example
in this dunya.
How much love someone has, the love of
a mother is compared to.
Whereas Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala loves you
and I 70 times more.
But wait, there's more.
Wait, there's more.
This number of 70 or 70,000 that
we find throughout a hadith, etc.
Or throughout the Quran and sunnah.
It's simply, it's believed that it's simply to
denote kathra, a large number.
So in other words, it's not limited to
70.
Allah's love knows no bounds.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has blessed us
with iman.
You know, I tend to ask myself, again,
I'm speaking to myself first, from the memory
of Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
You know, when I reflect and think about
what I have, what I'm blessed with, the
health that I have, the eyesight that I
have, the fact that I don't require dialysis
three times a week.
I was just sitting with someone last night.
Two people that I know require dialysis three
times a week.
Go ask somebody who lost their eyesight, and
they're now visually impaired when they were born
with eyesight.
In the previous life, when I was a
chaplain in a hospital, every Thursday I would
go, and I would make dhikr of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala, when I would walk
back to the car, because I would say
to myself, Ya Allah, what have you not
blessed me with?
And that's the point I try to remind
myself, is that, Yasir, don't count what you
have, what don't I have?
What don't we have?
The fact that we're sitting on padded carpet,
I'm still standing.
The fact that we're sitting on padded carpet
with the roof over our head.
And you see our brothers and sisters in
Philistine, you see the imam, you see the
ulama giving khutbahs from rubble.
We know innocent children are losing their lives
due to the harsh winter in Philistine and
the surrounding areas.
And the fact that you and I are
able to crawl into a warm bed.
What don't we have?
Really, what don't we have?
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala truly allow
us to remain grateful to Him.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala allow us
to have Him in our hearts.
May we have the love for Allah and
His Rasul sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in our
hearts.
Ameen.
O Allah, we ask You that when it's
our time to leave this planet, that You
are the most beloved to us, O Allah.
O Allah, let it be that we leave
this world with the kalima of la ilaha
illallah Muhammadur Rasulullah in our tongues, in our
hearts, in our minds, O Allah.
O Allah, let it be that amongst the
humans Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is the
most beloved to us, O Allah.
O Allah, allow the remaining part of our
journeys when it's our time to answer the
questions of the grave and then to be
standing before You كما يليك بشأنك when we
are standing before You, O Allah.
As Your beloved Habib Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam taught us to supplicate to You اللهم
حاسبنا حسابا يسيرا that O Allah, allow our
reckoning and questioning be easy, O Allah.
O Allah, let it be that when we're
standing before You, our questioning is made easy
for us, O Allah.
O Allah, allow all of us, our loved
ones and the entire Muslim Ummah to be
entered into Jannah for those without any kind
of questioning, O Allah.
O Allah, bless us with all of the
blessings that Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam asked
of this world and the hereafter.
O Allah, protect us all from all of
the evil that Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam
seek protection from this world and the hereafter.
O Allah, help our brothers and sisters in
Philistine.
O Allah, help our brothers and sisters in
Philistine.
O Allah, help them, aid them, grant shifa
to those that are ill, to those that
are injured.
O Allah, O Allah, You be there for
them, O Allah.
O Allah, You be there for them, O
Allah.
O Allah, bless us with the worry and
concern of the Ummah.
O Allah, bless us with the worry and
concern of the Ummah.
O Allah, allow us to lose sleep over
the condition of the Ummah, O Allah.
O Allah, allow us to lose our appetite
over what's happening to our brothers and sisters
in Philistine.
O Allah, accept our du'a.
O Allah, accept our ibadah.
Wa akhiru da'awana ilhamdulillahi rabbil alameen.
If possible, let's silence our cellphones or turn
them off.
Shoulder to shoulder, no gaps in between.
And I'm making intention as if this is
my last salah.
Allah is the greatest.
Alhamdulillahi rabbil alameen.
Ar-Rahman ar-Raheem.
Malik yawm al-deen.
Iyyaka na'budu wa iyyaka nasta'eem.
Ihdina al-sirata al-mustaqeem.
Sirata al-lazeena an'amta alayhim.
Ghayri al-maghdubi alayhim wa ladda'a.
Ya ayyuha al-naasu, attaqoo rabbakum, wakhshaw yawman
laa yajzi walidun ʿan waladih.
Wala mawludun huwa jaazin ʿan walidihi shay'aa.
Inna wa'ada Allahi haqq.
Fala taghurrannakumul hayatu al-dunya.
Wala yaghurrannakum billahi algharoor.
Inna Allaha ʿindahu ʿilmu al-sa'ah, wa
yunazzilu al-ghayth, wa ya'lamu maa fil
-arhaam.
Wa maa tadri nafsun maaza taksibu ghada, wa
maa tadri nafsun bi-ayyi ardhin tamoot.
Inna Allaha ʿalimun khabeer.
bismillah ar-rahman ar-raheem alhamdulillahi rabbil alameen
ar-rahman ar-raheem malik yawm al-deen
iyyaka na'budu wa iyyaka nasta'een ihdina

Ashraf Mirza who was just in a serious
car accident in India and he's in the
ICU brother Meher is one of our dedicated
volunteers who runs our off-site Jummah every
week at the Rosewood Jummah let's now raise
our hands as a community oh Allah please
grant our sick, benchan whether they be tried
by a disease, an affliction, a mental hardship
and all the ill suffering in the Muslim
Ummah with complete shifa alleviate their pain and
make it a means of Jannah for each
of them give each the best of health
and Iman and grant patience to their families
ya Allah for those who passed away in
the Muslim Ummah this week, they're under your
care and your protection, so please protect them
from the suffering of the grave ya Allah
protect them from the torment of the fire
