As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
Alhamdulillah rabbil alameen, salallahu alayhi wa sallam, mubaraka
nabiyyin wa muhammadin wa ala alihi wa sahbihi
wa sallam, tasliman kathira thumma ma ba'd.
What is the power of saying, Hasbi Allah
wa ni'mal wakeel.
What power does it have, saying, Hasbi Allah
wa ni'mal wakeel.
Allah is sufficient for me and my reliance
is completely and fully on him.
Saying that from your heart.
Do you guys even know the value and
the power of saying, Hasbi Allah wa ni'mal
wakeel.
Let's see what the Prophet, salallahu alayhi wa
sallam, says to us about this.
This is Hadith Ibn Abbas, radiyallahu anhu wa
radhan, Riyad al-Saliheen, and there is a
chapter of al-yaqeen wa al-tawakul.
Yaqeen, certainty, and reliance.
Hadith number 76, qala an Ibn Abbas, radiyallahu
anhuma, qala, Hasbun Allah wa ni'mal wakeel.
Qala Hasbun Allah wa ni'mal wakeel.
Qala ha Ibrahimu, salallahu alayhi wa sallam, hina
ulqiha finnaar.
Wa qala ha Muhammadun, salallahu alayhi wa sallam,
hina qalu, inna an nasa qala jama'u
lakum, fakhshawhum, fazadahum imana, wa qalu, Hasbun Allah
wa ni'mal wakeel.
Hadith Rawal Bukhari.
This narration Ibn Abbas, radiyallahu anhu wa radhan,
he says, when Prophet Ibrahim, alayhi salam, was
thrown into the fire, he said, Hasbun Allah
wa ni'mal wakeel.
Allah alone is sufficient for me and he
is the best disposer of affairs.
So did Allah's messenger Muhammad, salallahu alayhi wa
sallam, when he was told, a great army
of the pagans had gathered against you, so
free them.
But this, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala saying,
but this warning only increased them in their
iman and in their faith, and they said
Allah alone is sufficient for us and he
is the best disposer of affairs.
Rawal Bukhari.
What's the meaning of this?
So the two incidents, these are now the
statement of Ibn Abbas, radiyallahu anhu.
Ibn Abbas, he said, look, Hasbun Allah wa
ni'mal wakeel is so powerful.
It changed things for people, you know, the
greatest people ever walked on the surface of
the earth in one of the most dramatic
time of their lives.
Ibrahim, alayhi salam, we know the story of
Ibrahim, alayhi salam, when he was thrown from
the, you know, into the fire by the
catapult.
On his way in the air, Jibreel comes
to him.
And Jibreel comes to him saying to him,
Do you need anything?
Any help?
Can you imagine you're flying in the air,
you're about to split second, you'll be in
the middle of fire.
I mean, of course I need all the
help I can.
But here's Ibrahim, alayhi salam, with full confidence.
Because his iman, his faith, his yaqeen, his
certainty is unshakable.
He says, I don't need any help from
you.
Allah is sufficient for me.
And my reliance is only on him.
And what did Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
do?
He changed the law of physics, made the
fire, what is iman?
Allah immediately said to the fire, don't hurt
him.
Don't touch him, basically.
And he spent that time in the fire,
when the fire was over and he came
out, barely maybe some ashes here and there.
And the people, when they saw Ibrahim, alayhi
salam, they were shocked.
Now, obviously, we think that would be enough
evidence for them to say, we believe.
But instead, unfortunately, their arrogance made them do
what?
Say, you're not a human being.
Whatever you did, we don't know what that
is.
But you're not a human being.
And therefore, they said, we're not going to
believe in you.
Leave.
Don't stay here.
Get out of our town.
Subhanallah, human beings are jama'ah.
They saw all the proven evidence in their
own eyes and they still wanted to challenge
Ibrahim, alayhi salam.
The Prophet, salallahu alayhi wasalam, the other incident
with the Prophet, salallahu alayhi wasalam, it happened
when they were leaving the battlefield on Uhud,
chasing after the army that defeated them the
day before.
So when they were going, because the Prophet,
salallahu alayhi wasalam, he saw the morale of
the people was down, the great loss that
they had in terms of the casualties and
so on.
So everybody was feeling down.
So the Prophet, salallahu alayhi wasalam, said, you
know what?
We're going to go after them.
So everybody started kind of like put bandage
on their wounds and getting ready.
Whatever is capable of riding on the back
of the camel, let's chase after that army.
And as they were leaving, some people told
them, So where do you think you're going?
You're going after them?
They heard about your departure, and now they're
gathering for you.
They're getting back together, and they're gathering for
you right now.
They're gathering for you.
So what was the response that they had?
That they say, oh my God, let's go
back home, let's hide, let's run away.
No.
They said, you know what?
We don't care.
Because Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, is sufficient
for us, and our reliance is fully on
him.
Just like Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, changed
the affairs of Ibrahim, alayhis salatu wasalam, in
an instant, he also changed the affairs of
Muhammad, salallahu alayhi wasalam, and the Sahaba, also
in an instant.
Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, says after that,
So he said that, they came back from
that pursuit, with a great ni'mah from Allah.
What was that ni'mah, jama'ah?
The ni'mah is that they scared off the
army, that they said, you know what?
We won one battle, let's keep going.
We don't want to battle again.
We don't want to fight them again.
They were so scared.
Also, they came back with some spoils that
were left behind, from the army that was
running away so quickly.
And they also came back with strong morale.
Alhamdulillah, we chased after them, they didn't dare
come and fight us.
Even though they said they were recruiting again
to meet us, but they dispersed and they
ran away.
They said, you know what?
Enough victory one day, we'll just go.
And that made the Sahaba, radiyallahu anhu, feel
stronger.
They were not hurt.
And in addition to that, they followed, of
course, the path of iman, and Allah, subhanahu
wa ta'ala, was pleased with them.
What more than this, you need a jimmah?
That your iman gets stronger when you rely
on Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, and Allah,
subhanahu wa ta'ala, will be pleased with
you.
That's the least you could do when you
put your trust in Allah, subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
So the power of hasbi, allahu ni'ma al
-wakeel, is unbelievable.
Never miss the opportunity of repeating hasbi, allahu
ni'ma al-wakeel, frequently, during the day and
during the night.
Whether you're walking, driving, sitting down, doing chores,
whatever that is, just keep saying, hasbi, allahu
ni'ma al-wakeel, hasbi, allahu ni'ma al-wakeel,
which means, Allah is sufficient for me, and
to Him, or on Him, is my full
reliance.
Those words are very little in terms of
number of words, but they're powerful.
May Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, make us
among those who truly rely on Him.
And we ask Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala,
make us among those who have full yaqeen
on Him, Ya Rabb al-alameen, wallahu ta
'ala alameen.
Any questions, yes.
Hasbi Allah is singular, which means, me.
Hasbi Allah, you are saying, by yourself, you're
saying, Allah is sufficient for me.
Hasbuna Allah, it's plural.
So you speak on behalf of everybody, saying,
Allah is sufficient for us.
So that's the difference.
Wallahu alaikum.
Subhanaka, Allahumma wa bihamdika, ash-shara, la-aland,
astaghfiruka, wa atubu ilaik.
Salam alaikum, wa rahmatullah, wa barakatuh.
