So, for Rahmah and Mercy and and kind
of getting to know each other As Allah
says in the Quran,
We made you into nations and tribes and
so that you might get to know each
other. So it's essential that we get to
know each other. That's why we really will
pursue friends. In the past, I don't know
if you guys remember that, maybe about 20,
25 years ago, having a friend means you
there's an actual person you could go out
with and have a coffee and tea and
then and you can shake hands and hug
each other. Today they're all imaginary.
They're all just followers and people that you
see online and you chat with them and
you and and you kind of like and
you probably would never even see them anymore.
But brothers or sisters whether these are virtual
friends or real friends,
friendship is extremely important.
Why is it so important? Because it can
really bring you closer to Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala
or send you far away from Allah
shaykh Homa yesterday he said that, subhanahu wa
ta'ala, said, like, sometimes in order for you
to survive in this ocean of friends and
friendship, whether that's meaningful or otherwise, you're gonna
have to kill some of those friendships.
You're gonna have to decide and say, you
know what? This one is bad.
It's really, really bad, and I don't want
to do this. And it's extremely important
that you find the friend that brings you
closer to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Allah azza wa Jal my dear brothers and
sisters he says,
Those Bosom friends, you know, your besties, your
best friends in this dunya. He says, subhanahu
wa ta'ala, on the day of judgment,
they will be plain enemies.
Like enemies to each other.
Why is that? Because they're gonna keep saying,
it's because of you.
You did this to me. As Allah says,
The Du'afa,
The followers, the followers,
the followers, right? They all follow the trend.
Any crazy trends comes out, we just had
to do it. Because someone did it, we
have to do that. The followers will go
to the leaders and Ladina Stakbaru
says, hey, we used to follow you.
What's going on here? Why don't you guys
help us out over here? He says, no
no no no
no. We can't even help you. We can
barely help ourselves. You did it to
yourself. Don't blame me for that.
Allah subhanahu says, call those friends will be
plain enemies illa muttaqun,
except for the righteous ones.
Which means when you select your friends,
alhamdulillah, ablaamin,
that act robs on you in the right
way, in the best way, what pass, abutallahi,
aza wujan. And the Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
mentioned that about us in the Quran as
well too. That on the day of judgment,
what do people gonna do?
When that transgressor, the wrongdoer, start biting on
their own fingers which means in regret and
sorrow. Right? They're grieving on the moments that
they wasted in this dunya. What do they
what do they say?
I wish I have taken away with the
prophet, with the messenger. I wish I have
taken that path to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
with the right company,
Which Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
commanded the prophet salallahu alayhi to be in
that company. In the ayahansuratul
kath that you probably recite every single week.
Wall Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala said to the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam wasbarnafsaka
ma'aladeenaduunarabhamal
gaddati walashi. You read you know waja. He
says you need to remain steadfast.
Hold yourself with these people. Make sure to
stay with them. Who are they? Those who
call to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala day and
night.
Because I need that company, I need them
to bring it to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Other friends, he says, you're gonna be biting
on their fingers. And said I wish I've
taken that path to Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala.
You you wailata laytayilamatakhatfala
nakkaleelah.
Woe to me. I wish I've never ever
known this person in my life. I wish
I've never taken this person a friend of
me. So we started announcing all our friends
and calling them out saying it's because of
you that I'm in this situation.
Why? Because he led me astray. She led
me astray.
They took me far away from Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala.
Brothers and sisters, you can't say you can't
say I'm safe in that ocean of friends
again, whether virtual or real. In the past,
people had 2, 3 friends who could barely
survive that dunya.
And now you have all these hundreds of
people that you call acquaintances and you could
associate with them online. Look what they lead,
what they lead to. SubhanAllah.
The prophet says,
it's not the prophet's statement, which
means
friends gravitate.
Tell me who your friends are. I can
tell you who you are.
So look around you and ask yourself, and
they say usually usually,
how do you know you know yourself?
You are the average of the
most common people you associate yourself with. You're
the average of the 7 people, they say,
that you associate yourself with.
So right now while you're sitting here, think
about the 7
people that you most commonly associate yourself with.
You'll find yourself to be the average among
these people.
So do you have any of these people
marshal away above the you? Better than you?
How high are they better than you?
Or are they lower than you in terms
of Ibadah and Ta'a. Right? You need to
make sure that your average is better than
everybody else at jamaah. You have to compete
to find a good company that you surround
yourself with. Binalayahu Barakahu Wa Ta'ala. Because really
really from these friends you're gonna learn a
lot of things.
You're gonna learn and pick up a lot
of things
because it gravitates. It
gravitates, really. And you will learn from them
whether you like it or not. In hadith
Nabi sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, the very famous
hadith,
The example
of the good company and the bad one,
like good friends and bad friends. Just the
example
of Hamel El Misk, the one who sells
perfume.
1 Afik Alkir and the blacksmith.
He says, Mohammed Al Misk,
the the the perfume seller,
You probably gonna buy something
or they're gonna gift you something
or the least you're gonna pick up some
nice scent and on your way out.
Some friends are like
that. What about what does that mean? You
ask them, when they answer they give you
beautiful things. Good good reminders alhamdulillah.
If you forget, they will remind you. If,
alhamdulillah, if you remember, they will help you.
If you make a mistake, they will correct
you.
In every way, alhamdulillah, they're good to be
around.
You ask them, they answer you with goodness,
alhamdulillah. If you didn't even ask anything, just
being around them
would inspire you to do good, will at
least prevent you from doing something bad.
Some other people the prophet says, call kanafik
al kir, like the blacksmith. You go there
to the to the to the shop or
to the to the store, what are you
gonna get out of this? He says,
whether you got a spark is gonna fall
on your on your clothes and burn your
clothes,
or the least, on the way out, you're
gonna pick up bad smell. So when you
come back home, your wife is gonna tell
you, were you smoking somewhere?
That's the, that's the idea because friends sometimes
you, you can tell, you can tell. Your
manners, your akhlaq
will change probably depends on that.
And subhanAllah, that's extremely, extremely important jama'ah that
you keep that in mind.
You know, I couldn't help thinking about Sheikh
Ummah, what he was saying, Ali,
or the famous quote of Sheikh Ummah that
romance is rizq. Right?
And if you associate yourself with Sheikh Omar
that longest I can actually believe in that
jama'at. So as we will washallah in salah,
praying next to Sheikh Omar, directly touching him,
Right? So it's not even bluetooth, it's your
Ma'am. It's a connection right
away. And listen to the beautiful recitation of
Ahmed. He's reciting in Mashallah the African,
Sudanese
style, Tabar al Qala. I couldn't help it.
This kind of romance started hitting my head.
I felt I was in in the Sahara
Desert.
I was there in the sand dunes,
under the beautiful starry night.
Nice beautiful desert breeze,
And you have, mashaAllah, this campfire right in
front of you. And you're cooking this beautiful
coffee. The only thing disturbs that silence besides
mashaAllah, the beautiful actually, that makes a beautiful
recitation
and the crackling of the firewood. This is
very romantic.
I picked up from Sheikh Ambar.
So that was my rest for tonight of
the, of the romance inshallah that come on,
I have
to. But alhamdulillah,
alhamdulillah,
being in this place, what are you gonna
pick up from people Ajima?
I hope something good.
A good reminder.
Something that you look at, you will find,
you feel good to be around these people,
alhamdulillah, alhamid.
Always.
Some people you see them, you remember Allah
Azrajal. They used to say about Muhammad ibn
Sirir Rahim Allahu Ta'ala, just
dakha al suk.
When he just walks through the in the
marketplace, people start remembering Allah
and making dikr. Why? Because when they see
him, what do they say? SubhanAllah, Mashallah, Sheikh
Mohammed, Mashallah, Mashallah. They're remembering Allah Azza wa
Jal. Some other people when you see them
what do you say?
No stuff for Allah, udubilam shatarajid.
It is extremely important that you associate yourself
with the people who would truly bring you
on the day of judgment to be with
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Last thing, insha'Allah,
how important that is because even if I
mess up,
even if I mess up, maybe I wasn't
at that level with them. You see in
the hadith, a man one day that he
served the prophet
on a journey and the prophets told him
how can I reward you? What do you
want me to reward you with?
Promise me to be your companion in Jannah.
Like the way you allow me to serve
you here, I want to be with you
in Jannah. And the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam, he doesn't of course, he doesn't
guarantee that.
But he says,
Can I can I can I give you
something else? He said, that's what I want
from you. Otherwise, thank
you. Right? So the prophet told
him, Then help me get you there by
doing a lot of sujood. He wants to
be in the company of the most righteous
because he knew how valuable that is. He
was associated with the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam. When other man came to the prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasallam and he and the prophet
he asked the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam, kala
anisa.
When is the the day of judgement is
going to be established? The prophet says, wamada
ahat tellah.
So what did you prepare for it? I
don't have really much good deeds to do.
Well, I couldn't have allah or rasoolah. I
love the messenger and the prophet Allah and
the messenger. Allah and the messenger. Fakarana b
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam, almaru'maam and ahab you're
gonna be congregated. You're gonna be brought together
with whom you
love. So if you would love to be
in general the redosulalajama,
who you should be the per the people
that you associate yourself with? Those kind of
people. And again even if you mess up,
you'll have opportunity these people to pick you
up from that misery. In hadith Shafa'at Tawhid
along hadith Shafa'at, the prophet mentioned as people
were crossing over the bridge.
The bridge that goes over Jahannam.
Everybody was going through based on their good
deeds. The speed of their good deeds. Like
much like the thunder, the lightning, this and
that. And some people unfortunately as they try
to cross over the bridge there are some
hooks will will capture them and throw them
into Jahannam.
Now those people who cross to the other
side, alhamdulillah, they're safe.
But what do they do when they halas?
When now everybody, okay we're safe right now.
Now, what do they do? They start looking
around,
checking on each other,
and they'll find somebody's missing.
Our Lord, our brothers and sisters, they used
to pray with us, they used to fast
with us. We
can't see them. Where are they? They're missing.
And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala by His grace,
He allows these believers to go and look
into Jahannam. And they will see the believers
who end up there because of the light
of their iman in their hearts. And the
threats of their wudu
and they will say go and get them
out. They will get them out 1 after
the 1 1 by 1 based on the
level of their iman that is left in
their hearts. SubhanAllah.
Look,
your good company, it will care for you
even after crossing the bridge from Jahannam.
A friend like this, I wanna hold on
to this.
That's the type of friend that I need
them when I need them the most. Forget
about needing them in the dunya. That's easy.
But in the akhirah,
nothing's gonna help you but finding, subhanAllah, your
good deeds. And if not, the good deeds
of a friend that you associate yourself with.
So make sure in this dunya, when you
befriend people, look for those who will inshallah
increase in your imani uttah and your deen,
and bring you closer to Allah Azza wa
Jal. Brothers and sisters, Ramadan is coming closer
to and may Allah
give us the closest Ramadan with the best
of our deeds, And
we ask Allah to grasp more forgiveness.
However,
as we see right now,
a lot of people they met you you
met people for the first time in your
life. You could make good friends
But a lot of us are waiting for
the month of Ramadan or many, actually, people,
unfortunately. They're waiting for Ramadan to end for
what?
To go back to our old ways.
Please don't do that.
And if you know that there are some
friends waiting for you on the other side,
waiting for you to cross that door at
after the end of Ramadan,
make sure right now to reconsider that those
kind of friendships.
Whether you ask them look, look man, I
need to start coming with to me with
me to the masjid. We need to commit
to these good deeds. We need to start
doing this. If they're not interested,
just go somewhere else because they're gonna slow
you down if not actually
causing your 'udhubillah to be ruined. So may
Allah
grant us the best friendship in this dunya
and the akhirah,
The best companionship in the dunya and the
akhir. We ask Allah to guide our hearts,
the hearts of our friends, our spouses, our
children.
We ask Allah
to make us and mothers who listen to
the speech and follow the best of it.
We ask Allah Azazal to grant us the
best of our
We ask Allah to accept our fasting,
to accept our diyam, accept our dua, accept
our adkar. We ask Allah
to accept our good deeds.
And we ask Allah
to protect our brothers and sisters.
We ask Allah
to protect them, you Allah. You Rabbi, we
ask you to provide for them from your
risk, You rahman, You rahim. You Allah, we
ask you to provide for from your risk
You Allah, we ask you to be there
for them. Give them the victory that you
promised You Allah, You Allah,
The way we all gathered in this place,
we ask Allah to bring us together in
with the prophet Muhammad
