My dear brothers and sisters,
as we come closer and closer to the
season of Hajj
and as we remember with the Hajj, we
remember also prophet Ibrahim alaihis salam.
Allah
chose Ibrahim alaihis salam to be his khalil,
his beloved.
Allah
chose Ibrahim
for a special mission
that we today will live the legacy of
which is a Hajj that we go to
every year.
Allah
chose Ibrahim for us to be mentioned and
remembered in every single salah.
We always send salawat upon the prophet Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam and prophet Ibrahim and
his household
every single salah. My dear brothers and sisters,
there is a reason for that. There's a
wisdom and a hikmah behind that. And Allah
even
he made it very clear to us in
the Quran
that it's mandatory upon the believers, those who
believe in Allah
believe in Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam,
they should also follow the example of Ibrahim
alaihi wasallam.
When Allah azzawajal,
he said to us in the Quran,
Anyone who turns away from the path in
the way of Ibrahim,
they're deceiving themselves, they're fooling themselves.
What was exactly
the point about Ibrahim?
Allah
is gonna show us and show the whole
world on the day of judgment, on the
hereafter that he was among the most righteous.
They will see his place. And what was
exactly his mission?
When Allah told him submit yourself to your
Lord, he said I submit. No question asked.
But then Allah
showed us what millet Ibrahim was. What is
the way of Ibrahim
It's absolute submission to the rule of Allah
My dear brothers and sisters, if you look
at this, the meaning of this,
that everywhere, every time in the Quran when
Allah
is talking about Ibrahim,
he highlights that particular quality about Ibrahim
his absolute submission
to Allah
absolute
and servitude to Allah
because he's teaching us to always refocus
and always focus on your purpose.
No matter where you go in this life,
no matter how far you go away, whether
in your education,
your family life, your personal life, whatever that
is, there is always a mission. You've been
sent here for a mission, and that is
the mission of Ibrahim alaihis salam. What is
that? It's that he is responsible to deliver
that message, to submit to the will of
Allah
and we've been all called to follow the
example of Ibrahim alaihi sallam Because afterwards Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala says about him,
Ibrahim,
his son Yaqub,
and his his offspring, they're all been given
the exact same mission.
All of them. That you submit yourself to
the world of Allah
Allah has chosen this path for you, this
deen, the deal of submission
to be Muslim, true Muslim to Allah
This is your way, this is your deen.
Don't ever die. Don't ever make that moment
come unless you're in full submission to his
will
Brothers and sisters,
Ibrahim
he lived that principle.
He sacrificed
almost his life for it
That was the mission of Ibrahim, that's his
dua.
I want to share with you a few
words, few points from the life of Ibrahim
that highlights for us the legacy of Ibrahim
in the path of dawah to Allah
You know most of us, alhamdulillah,
umun, enjoy being Muslims.
Alhamdulillah,
we're so proud to say la ilaha illallah
Muhammad rasulillah.
Especially nowadays, when the Internet opened doors of
every single culture, every single ideology, every single
worship and ritual and practice. You look what
people do, what we what people worship, and
you keep saying, Alhamdulillah,
Allah made Muslim.
When you see weird things on the internet
and what it will do, what day it
is they choose to worship, and you say,
alhamdulillah, Allah, I'm a Muslim.
Okay. What's what exactly how you show your
gratitude to Allah
You're Muslim. What are you doing about this?
Are you sharing it with the world?
Are you going out there to tell the
people about this mission?
Instead of really laughing at what people do,
we need to feel sorry for them and
go out there and do our best to
let them know what the beauty of submission
to the will of Allah
the beauty of this deen. That is the
mission of Ibrahim
And how he did that? I'm going to
share with you a few things with him.
Number 1, number 1, especially
as we know today in the circumstances that
we live in today, with what's happening for
our brothers and sisters in Gaza, may Allah
make it easy for them,
what's happening today in Jenin as well too,
which is not even Gaza.
The oppression that they're going through
and the killing that is happening, the destruction
of their property and their lives, subhanallah,
what are the Muslims doing about this? So
Ibrahim
had methodology.
The beginning he started with what? He started
You give your
with wisdom
and kindness. And that's what he did when
he talked to his father who was one
of the elites of that society back then
in Iraq.
His father was one of the elites,
and his father was a powerful man.
So you can't just go there and just
argue with him and fight with him. So
he had to take him with kindness. He
had to take him with hikmah. So he
went to his father as Allah Subhanahu Wa'ala
describing for
us Ibrahim. In Surat Maryam when Allah mentioned,
remember
the story of Ibrahim. He was truthful. He
was a prophet.
He came to his father,
he says, my dear father, You Abati is
an endearment statement in the Arabic language when
you call your dad. It's like saying dad.
Instead of saying the official statement father, it
says dad.
That's an endearment statement. So he came to
his father trying to have that beautiful
emotional connection,
emotional connection with his father.
My my father, dad,
I've received knowledge that you haven't received yet,
and that knowledge is very important.
That knowledge is telling me that whatever that
you're doing that you worship is nothing.
You're wasting your life, you're wasting your energy,
you're wasting your time on these deities.
My father
says, I have that knowledge, I will bring
you to the straight path to
Allah
And he kept talking to him.
My dear father, dad, please don't worship the
shaitan.
Don't listen to these
false ideologies and false claims about God. Don't
listen to these things. He was adamant as
guiding his father to that which is right
but he was doing
first
What was the response of his father?
Ibrahim?
What? Are you gonna forsake my gods?
You've chosen some other god besides mine? I
swear if you're not gonna follow mine, I'm
gonna go after you. I'm gonna stone you.
He was threatened.
Many of us have been threatened just because
we're voicing, you know, we're bringing our voice
out there for justice,
even if it's in the most legal way.
And still, you've been told to keep your
mouth shut. You can't criticize this or that.
And here's Ibrahim
standing against his father, this very powerful man
who's supposed to be his support. He said,
listen to me, I don't even know you.
Even if you're my son, I'm gonna come
after you. You worship my gods or otherwise,
stay away from me. And Ibrahim
after trying and trying and trying,
what did he say?
That
peace.
He says, you know what? I'm not gonna
listen to this argument, but I would love
to find to have peace with you. So
I'll seek
forgiveness for you. Even though later on Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala told Ibrahim
no more. You can't seek forgiveness for him.
He chose his way.
But Ibrahim, he never
never lost hope in his father and his
people. And my dear brothers and sisters, there's
so many good people out there who just
don't know the truth.
They've never heard that knowledge that you have
like Ibrahim
had, his father didn't.
They don't know anything about that stuff.
They thought the world just started a certain
date,
but you could just bring them you can
open their eyes to the truth and help
them out with hikmah
Brothers and sisters, Ibrahim
he chose almost everything in his power to
convince his people.
He chose dialogue,
he chose argument, he brought them proofs, he
asked them to bring proofs. He did everything
in his power.
When he had the argument with them,
At some point Ibrahim
he dismissed it, that argument is not working
anymore.
So he took an action
in which he went to their temple
and he destroyed all those false deities except
for the largest one, and he put the
axe on his shoulder.
And then when the people came back and
they were shocked to see their gods in
such a miserable state can you imagine gods
in a miserable state?
See, just like he left them in that
position, then they start arguing among themselves what
happened, who did this to our gods? Ibrahim.
We heard about a young man, his name
Ibrahim. He was talking about our gods.
So all of them in that state of
rage and state of pride and arrogance, they
say, bring him.
Bring him for everybody.
Let's question him. And that's what Ibrahim
wanted to do. He wanted the people to
hear.
We've been given a tool today called the
Internet,
where now nobody can decide the truth anymore.
No matter how much they tried,
no matter how much they tried to push
their narrative.
But still, Allah is more powerful.
Allah
way will prevail.
And here, Ibrahim
he want them to bring the people in
front of him and talk to them directly.
Back then they didn't have Internet, so the
only way you could do that is
He risked his life for
it. It's just like nowadays, many of these
young people on the stage during their graduations,
and subhanAllah risking many things, they still want
the world to see the truth and hear
the truth
because that's one way of being brave and
stand for justice.
So they brought
Ibrahim
Ibrahim, he said, you did this to our
gods?
He was waiting for this question to come
from them.
He goes, me? No, I didn't do that.
Him, he did that. Him pointed to the
big God
and they said, come on, you know they
cannot do these things.
He said, really?
And he gave this answer, this argument, all
of this happened in front of the public,
in front of everybody.
And now the elders among themselves as Allah
says,
They start
coming back to themselves. They come back to
their senses right now, knowing it's embarrassing to
say otherwise in front of the people, especially
the young ones. Because the young ones, they
say, yeah, that's true. How could this do
these things?
Farajahullah and Pusim so they came back to
their senses and they said to themselves, you
guys are wrongdoers.
He's saying the
truth. But then, subhanAllah,
their status,
their money,
their prestige,
their power, everything on the stake right now.
They're so scared to lose it. So what
do they do after that?
Then they turned back again
to their always. They said, no no no
no no no no.
He says, you know they don't talk.
However, they said, we will show you what
we can do to you. He goes, how
could you worship something that doesn't speak, that
doesn't help itself?
He brought now the logic and that argument
to the people. He brought the proof and
the evidence. It's all clear to everybody.
However, my dear brothers and sisters,
even if you bring all the proofs out
there, it doesn't mean people are gonna say,
you're absolutely right.
So your job is not really to convince
to convince the people, because we can't.
Our job is just to bring the proof
out there for the people.
And Allah
is the one who guides the hearts,
not us.
Ibrahim alaihis salam did his best. And what
happened after that?
Ibrahim alaihis salam, he remained steadfast
regardless of the consequences.
Some of our young brothers and sisters in
our communities,
they were arrested just because they were standing
for justice.
They were taken to prison. They They were
processed over there. For what? To just to
exercise their right to speak the truth and
be out there in public. And they throw
all accusations against them like they did to
Ibrahim alaihis salam.
But he remained steadfast.
He
stood his ground, alayhis salam.
What was the consequence? Because he's gonna make
an example of you. You shall
see. Put their pictures all out there in
public to see who they were. And now
Ibrahim alayhis salaam was also becoming a public
display.
Everybody's coming to see who this young man
who defied
his people
and the law of his people and all
that kind of stuff and just, who is
this guy?
And they said, you're gonna see. And they
made a huge fire just to punish him
so that they could see how powerful we
are. We're gonna make example of you.
And they threw Ibrahim
into the fire.
As he was flying into the catapult, Az
Hakur mentioned the hadith al sahir. The prophet
says as Ibrahim was flying into the air
towards the fire,
Allah
sends Jibril to him. And Jibril says to
him, Ibrahim,
You need any help?
So Ibrahim
from you? Thank you. I need nothing.
Because I have Allah and Allah is enough
for me.
And instantly Allah changed the laws of the
fire.
And he says,
He says to the fire, be cool and
be safe in regards to Ibrahim.
And it did.
It did.
And then even when that ended, subhanallah, and
that's the point I would like to bring
to our attention. Many of us now, alhamdulillah,
as hopeful as we see from the results
of people, mashaAllah, seeing the truth and people
learning, the new generation is actually waking up
to what's happening in the world and the
Middle East and so on and the Philistines
and injustice,
that doesn't mean it's gonna last for long.
Because even the people of Ibrahim alayhi salam,
the people of Ibrahim, when they saw Ibrahim
coming out of the fire,
what else what else? What more proof do
you need?
But they still they said, we're not gonna
believe in you. Do whatever you want.
Because some people, they just prefer the dunya
over the akhirah.
They
prefer the handsome, you know, amount they get
from some lobbyists and so forth over the
truth,
over saving themselves in this one and the
hereafter as well. So you will find people
who will still insist on being actually unfair
and going after it being unjust.
Why? Because there is so much for them
to lose in the matter of the dunya.
And Ibrahim
didn't care about that, he was caring about
the akhirah. My dear brothers and sisters, there
is so much we could learn from the
legacy of Ibrahim
but I just want you to remember this.
As we see how the world is moving
right now and there's a revival and awakening
among the younger generation and people starting to
wake up to the truth and some political
entities are changing their position in regards
to to the situation and so on,
that doesn't
mean that doesn't mean it's going to become,
you know, soon. Victory is going to be
coming sooner or safety is going to become
soon. God knows what's going to happen, but
Allah's ways are different.
Allah's ways are different, but your job is
just to continue to follow the legacy of
Ibrahim
alaihis salam. You need to be focused on
the purpose of this life, the submission to
Allah
Invite people to the truth, show them the
proofs and the evidences,
Make dua for them and remain steadfast no
matter what the consequences because this life is
temporary.
And the next one, insha'Allah, is the eternity,
an eternal life of bliss.
My dear brothers and sisters, Ibrahim
remained steadfast because his path was clear to
call to 1 and only 1 Allah
That was the secret of his power and
his strength,
to believe in the oneness of Allah
and the tawheed of Allah
He risked everything for that including
his own hometown.
He had to leave and migrate and leave
that at his
own family and people and live a complete
different life and new place, alayhi wasallam. All
this for the sake of Allah azzawajal.
What does that mean? The path to Allah
is not gonna always be easy.
It's full of obstacles, challenges because Allah is
gonna test us to see who's gonna be
truthful and who is not.
When the prophet
first
received the first revelation, ikra bismirabbikaladi
kala. When he received that
and his wife Khadija radiallahu anha, she took
him to Warakah al Nuful,
and he told him what he saw. What
was the first thing that Warakah told the
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam? He goes, look, I
wish I was young enough. I wish I'm
young enough
today
to be there with you and support you
when people when your people, your own people
drive you out of your hometown.
To which the prophet was shocked.
Are they gonna really drive me out of
my hometown? Are they gonna
get me out of here? He
says, No one ever brings to the people
the way and the lifestyle and the deen
and the message like yours, but will gain
their hostility.
So if you think people are gonna actually
open their arms for you when you call
them to
Allah think twice.
It might be very challenging.
But guess what? The prophet
says that those who have been so severe
and so staunch and so strong and adamant
staying at their own ways, if they become
Muslim, they become strong in Islam.
Have hope for them,
Make a lot of du'a for them and
remain steadfast on the path of Ibrahim alaihi
wasalam.
