Our du'a of the Quran, du'a number 15
is from Surat Ashu'ara
Surat Ashu'ara chapter 26.
The ayat from verse 83
all the way down to 89.
So again, our Dua inshaAllah
is from Surat Ashuara
chapter 26
ayat verses 83 to 89.
If you look at the context of Surat
Asharah and this ayat, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
spoke about Ibrahim alaihis salam in details here.
What to alayhim Naba Ibrahim?
You Muhammad
tell them,
narrate to them, convey to them Naba Ibrahim
the news or the life of Ibrahim.
And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gave us details
about his debate
with his family.
When he was debating with them about worshiping
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, not worshiping the idols
and so on. And then Ibrahim alaihis salam,
he told him why he's worshiping Allah Azzawajal
because he's the one who provides for me.
And when I'm ill and sick he's giving
me he gives me healing. He spoke about
the beautiful
attributes of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala to which
he
deserved to be worshipped
and then at the end
he brought his dua.
So, he acknowledged Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, praised
Allah with his beautiful names and attributes,
and now he's asking
for his needs. What are the needs of
Ibrahim alaihi salam? Ibrahim alaihi salam,
come Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to ask
Bless me with honorable mention among the later
generations.
Make me one of those awarded the garden
of bliss.
Forgive my father for he is certainly one
of
the misguided
and do not disgrace me on the day
all will be resurrected.
A day when neither wealth nor children will
be of any benefit.
Only those who come before Allah
with a pure heart
will be saved.
So
what is the dua of Ibrahim alaihi salam?
Ibrahim alaihi salam says
and we've learned so far that whenever you
make dua,
you're now using the name Arab.
You name the attribute of Allah
Arab. Why? Because Arrab is associated with giving,
with creating,
with providing,
with helping and assisting. So, we say
and we say,
is coming from a complete grant from Allah
with no deserving
of it on your part.
Like you're telling
You Rabbi, even though I know I don't
deserve
it, but I ask you to give me
this,
grant me this.
Give me.
Now could be ruled or could be actually
interpreted as rule
and what it means means when you give
judgment,
when you make decisions,
and
what's so important about making decisions in this
life of Jema? What do you guys think?
What is so important about making decisions over
here?
Everything is about making your life is all
about making micro decisions.
Everything you do is making micro decisions, the
choice of words,
where you spend your time, when do you
leave, when do you stay, what do you
do, All these things are based on making
these micro decisions.
So, when you ask Allah, You Rabbi,
give me the wisdom in making my decisions
in this life because those decisions
that you make frequently, they become what?
Become you, your character.
What is character? What is your character anyway?
Your character is nothing but repetitive
of certain behavior.
And that behavior that you do is based
on what? The decisions that you make.
Major and minor ones. So, it's all about
how to make good decisions.
So, when Ibrahim alaihi salam asked Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala for that he was asking Allah
to make good decisions in everything
because these decisions,
hopefully when you make them right they'll match
the hikma and the wisdom of Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala in a way that's most pleasing
to Allah Azzawajal.
Similarly, when Allah praised Yusuf alayhi salam,
when he reached that age,
we gave him wisdom, we gave him the
ability to make good decisions and knowledge based,
of course, on pure knowledge.
So, here Ibrahim
has asked Allah to give him, grant him
the ability to make these
these wise decisions.
So, hukman, wal hiknibus salihin and you Allah
join me with the righteous ones. The righteous
ones are those who reach that level because
of
making the right decisions,
making the right choices.
Like, I hope by choosing wisely
and making the right choices in my life,
making wise decisions in my life, I'll be
joined among those of salihein because they haven't
become salihein unless they have made those good
choices, good decisions.
And, You Allah
bless me with honorable mention among the later
generation.
You Allah
make me or make for me.
What's
Tongue.
But it's also used in the Arabic language
as what?
People move their tongues with good mention about
you. That's what it means. When people move
their tongues, when people speak about you, that's
what it means. So, it means your speech.
So, make the people when they speak about
me, lisan alsudk, when they speak, they speak
honorable things about me.
Basically, when they remember me after long I'm
gone from this life,
You Allah, they will remember me very well.
That I will be among those who have
told the truth
and remain true
among the later generation.
Now,
for so far, Ajamal, did Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala
accept those two things from Ibrahim Alaihi Salam?
Number 1,
he was of course from Salihin Alambia and
he's not just from Salihin, he became what?
Khalilullah,
the most beloved.
So, Allah for
those qualities
he made one of the favorite,
The second
thing, his honorable mention in the later generations,
what do you guys think about that?
Is it? How so?
You can't pray without mentioning his name.
All your life, we're the Ummah, the only
Ummah of the 3, you know,
monotheistic faiths that you can imagine
that mentions Ibrahim
so frequently
as much as you mentioned Muhammad
So,
Allah made that beautiful honorable mention of him.
Not just that, when we go to Hajj,
who you exactly commemorating when it comes to
the practice of Hajj? Ibrahim alayhi salaam.
So it's always about that whether it's our
practice of the deen and Ibad and also
our mention of salawat upon the prophet sallallahu
alayhi wasalam and enjoining also Muhammad Ibrahim alayhi
wasalam.
So Allah answered
this call for
these
two
things.
So that one, the one before
about leaving an honorable mention for him among
the generation, the later generation, that's in his
dunya after he's gone from it.
But the second right now he's asking
You Allah, make me among those who are
awarded the Garden of Bliss. When is that
gonna be a jama'ah?
In the akhir.
So he said something about the dunya. You
Allah, in my lifetime,
make me make good choices, make me good
decisions, so I can become among the righteous
one.
And, you Allah, when I'm done from this
world,
I ask you to leave an honorable mention
of me after I'm gone from this dunya,
so after his death. Anya Allah, on the
day of judgment,
I ask you to award
me Look at the beautiful dua.
He's asking for his present time, he's asking
after he's gone from this world, and he's
asking also after the resurrection happens.
So, he's leaving nothing.
He wants the good in his lifetime
after he's done before the day of judgment,
and on the day of judgment he's asking
for the best.
Then he says,
You Allah, forgive my father for he is
certainly one of the misguided.
Who was his father, Ajamal?
What was his name? Was it? Azaar. It
was mentioned in the Quran. Azaar.
Are you taking
Islam
statues as gods? So Ibrahim was speaking to
his father, Azza.
And, unfortunately, his father, Azza, did not believe
in the message of his son, Ibrahim.
His father was an honorable man in his
society, and he didn't wanna leave, you know,
the culture and tradition of his people for
a young kid.
Like in our in our society sometimes, unfortunately,
we hold on to all traditions
that we think anything comes from the younger
generation is false. You can't really actually accept
that.
So, his father was a very staunch
supporter of his tradition and culture that he
told his son, finally, he told him, he
said, look, if you're not gonna leave, I'm
gonna stone you.
Leave.
That's even after they saw the miracle,
the miracle of him coming out of the
fire would not scratch.
Still he told him, get out of here.
I don't want to see your face again.
Ibrahim alaihis salam, he still
he still asked forgiveness for his father.
For how long though?
Long enough until Allah subhanahu wa'ala, this is
it, you can't make dua for him anymore.
Because some people might say, wait a minute,
is he asking du'a for his father who
knows that he is actually not a believer?
Well, Allah mentioned that in the Quran
That Allah
promised Ibrahim that he will grant him that
wish to make dua for his father.
However, was that dua answer?
Well, in matters of Dunia we know it
wasn't
because his father died as an unbeliever and
Allah subhanash and so in the Quran as
well too.
So, he says,
forgive my father, he was among those who
are misguided.
And, then he says,
and you Allah do not disgrace me on
the day
all will be resurrected.
Who is saying this, Ajima?
Ibrahim alaihis salam.
I mean, what is there for him to
be disgraced about?
For all the service that he provided for
the din of Allah azza wa jal, for
the sacrifice he has done, for the journeys
he had to undertake,
for the almost of being the most obedient
to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
What is it that he's gonna be disgraced
about? So, some of the ulama they say
maybe he's referring to the three lies
that they were mentioned, hadith al Shafa'at Tawil.
The long hide of Shafa'at
when Ibrahim alaihis salam when the people come
to Ibrahim, Yeah, Ibrahim, can you ask Allah
to start the day of judgment on the
account?
He goes,
get out of my face. I don't want
to see you.
I have myself to worry about because
I've done three lies.
Although we don't cause them to be lies,
but he was worried about them and he's
asked Allah not to disgrace him among the
nations, among the people because of these three
lies.
Ask yourself how many lies did you make
as a man your lifetime?
How many things you've done that you would
consider maybe a source of probably humiliation, Allah
will stand on the day of judgment. May
Allah protect us from the Surah Al Amin.
But, here's Ibrahim Alaihi Wasallam with his humbleness,
he's asking Allah to protect him on that
day.
Another thing that could be is because of
his father,
because of his father
to be in Jahannam and that would be
a source of you know, kind of like
an insult or an engineer for Ibrahim
as if he's asking, You Allah, and don't
cause my father to go to Jahannam, that
would be an insult to me,
which means forgive him.
But that was, of course, still during his
lifetime, alaihis salatu wa salam, when his father
was still alive.
After he's gone he did not accept the
message, it's over for him.
And that's what Allah says,
On the day of resurrection,
I ask you that I would never be
humiliated
or or suffer any insult.
And he now emphasizing on that day,
When he says, when neither wealth nor children
will be of any benefit. Perhaps, refer that
to his father as well too saying that
look, I know that I can't help benefit
him, You Allah.
His wealth is not gonna benefit him. So,
You Rabbi, don't disgrace me because of that.
Or, generally speaking, and it's very well known
the Day of Judgement,
no one's money, no one's lineage, no one's
size of their tribe or their family,
no one's culture, no one's degree is gonna
benefit them before Allah
except for what?
Unless you bring to Allah Subhanahu, you come
to Allah before Allah
with that pure heart. That's the only thing
that's gonna save you.
And that's the thing that he's actually
asked Allah for. Even Ibrahim
with all we know about him, he's still
asking Allah for
this.
So,
if Ibrahim is asking for this, make sure
that you make this du'a more frequently as
Imam. So, as we make the du'a, InshaAllahu
Ta'ala,
for the phrase when he asked for his
father's forgiveness,
we're not gonna say,
Don't say this about your father.
So, what we say, we're gonna
say to replace
saying
so at least
we have that. Now, can I say Of
course? Forgive my mother? Yes, you can. Can
I say
Forgive my parents and make them among the
guided ones? Yes, of course you can. So,
in whichever way you wanna make the dua,
that is up to you, but we cannot
use the words of the Quran as close
as possible here, InshaAllah. So, we're gonna repeat
the dua together, InshaAllah.
