Assalamu, Alaikum. I hope everybody had this far, thus far a
beautiful Ramadan, mashaAllah, and the third day, masha Allah, almost
done, and we are busy with our questions and answer session with
Malala. We hope that Allah subhanahu wa grant us the tawfiq,
the ability to do justice and inshaAllah try to answer the
questions to the best of our abilities. Alhamdulillah, we have
a few questions that came about. And the first question that was
asked was, how sick does one have to be to skip fasting?
Subhanallah, this is amazing. Allah subhanahu wa, the Most
Merciful. Allah subhanahu wahim, the Most Compassionate, the Most
Merciful. Allah subhanahu wa sind as the NABI of mercy, rahmat Ali
Alamin, is Allah subhanahu wa mentioned to us, Omar Amit Ali La
Alami, and we are the ummah of rahmah, masha Allah, belonging to
the lord of rahmah and following the NABI of rahmah. So the best
answer that we can give you is
we know ourselves, if we are extremely sick and know that under
that conditions and circumstances we won't be able to fast, because
it's going to deteriorate our health, then obviously we need to,
inshaAllah, stop our fast for that moment, knowing also that we will
have to pay back that fast. But Inshallah, we should also take the
advice of our doctors and our medical specialists. Inshallah, so
before me breaking my fast, if it is not that serious, let me see a
medical doctor Insha Allah, ask his opinion or her opinion, and be
in the last Subhanallah, they will be able to guide us. If it is not
that serious. And I myself feel as well that I will be able to cope
by fasting. Then be in the last Subhanallah, I should try my best
to fast. As Allah subhanahu wa mentioned in the Quran that it is
best for you to fast, we may break our fast, and Inshallah, we'll pay
back in the fast or maybe pay fidia. But if we can pass
inshallah to Allah, it will be much better for us to fast, and
Allah knows best. And then our second question inshallah to Allah
would be, should pregnant or breastfeeding woman fast? Does
their fast break? If they best feed or express so? Masha Allah
has a few masa. There's a few matters that we need to discuss
with regards to the pregnant woman. If the lady is still
pregnant, subhanAllah, and the fasting is upon us immediately
now, then what happens now? She need to check if her health is
fine. Alhamdulillah, she can carry on fasting, but if it is a
condition whereby she feels that she fears not only for her own
life, but for the life of her baby as well. So there's two types
here. She only fears for her own life, then what should happen?
Then she need to pay in that day. If she fears for her life as well
as the life of her baby. Then, Inshallah, the same condition
apply. Then she would only pay back in that day of fasting. But
when the condition change whereby she only fears for the life of the
child, then there's a different hukum here, then she need to fast
as well as pay fidia for that day, and that is the difference. So
there's three matters here. The first one is, if she fears for her
own life, then she needs to pay in the day of fast when she is able
to do so. Inshallah, if she fears for the life of herself as well as
the baby, she need to pay in that day of fasting, Inshallah, when
she is capable to do that. And the third matter differs when she
fears only the life of her child, then she needs to pay in the fast
when she's able to do so, as well as paying fidia for the day that
she broke her fast. And Allah subhana wa Taala knows best. And a
point of note here. The second question is, does the fast break
if they bless you to express, fasting does not break when a
woman or a lady breastfeed will express, obviously, what needs to
be taken in consideration here is, if it is going to weaken the
mother so much, then, Inshallah, to Allah again, the question comes
in, what does she fear? Does she fear for the life of herself, or
does she fear for the life of the child? So the same hukunda, the
same law would apply. If she fears for her own life, she would only
pay back in the day
of fasting that she has not fasted. And then if she fears for
her life as well as the baby's life, then Inshallah, to Allah,
she would only pay back in that day, but if she fears only for the
life of the child, meaning that she needs to Breastfeed the child,
there's absolutely no other way. Then what happens now? She needs
to pay back in the day of fasting, as well as paying fidia. And Allah
subhanahu wa knows this.
Our third question inshallah Tara is, what should I do?
If I oversleep for Soho, so Masha Allah, you know, we are only but
human. Allah subhanahu wa mentioned in the Quran, Rahul
Insan, udah AFA and Allah subhanahu wa created as weak only.
Allah subhanahu wa is the one as Allah subhanahu wa mentioned in
the verse of the qur, as we discussed last night, masha Allah
Ayush, see Allah subhanho wa Taala Mexico that sleep and slumber does
not overtake Allah subhanahu wa, Allah subhanahu wa does not sleep.
Allah subhanahu wa taala does not need sleep. Allah subhana wa Taala
is perfect in his condition. So Masha Allah for Allah subhanahu
wa, that is Allah subhana wa Taala attributes. But for us, we are
weak. We are SubhanAllah. If we stay up half of the night, we
become tired, and we need to take rest, and we slumber, and then we
fall into a deep sleep. So when this happen and we oversleep for
Sukh then what happens SubhanAllah? Obviously, if we wake
up and we are able to fast for the day, then we need to fast for that
day. And also we need to take cognizance of the fact that we
need to make a near and an intention to fast and mashallah,
the culture of the Cape of Cape Town. I'm not too sure what is the
cultures of other places, but our culture is normally when we
finish, finish with our tarawier Salah, the Imam will be leading
the niya for the next day, Alhamdulillah. So we'll make the
near the night before already by saying, now you do so, muddi,
Shahid, Ramallah, Hadi, sanatila, Italy, and that will suffice us
for making a near to fast for the next day. Masha, Allah, so if I
oversleep and I've made that intention, Alhamdulillah, my Nia
was there, then my fasting would suffice for me. But if I fast
without intention, Allah come change. I made absolutely no
intention to fast for the month of Ramadan, for the sake of Allah
subhanahu wa then I need to pray back in that day, because
everything is just according to our intentions. I have to make
intention Inshallah, to fast for the next day. So if I oversee and
I've made the intention to buy the previous day. Alhamdulillah, no
problem, right? Mashallah, if I did not make any intention, then I
need to pay back in the day inshallah and Allah subhanahu wa
knows best, and also, there's a lot of barakah in support.
Rasulallah says that that in within suhole, there is a lot of
barakah and Allah mentions about this time that will be as hard,
Will mustafaina bill as hard that if we seek forgiveness at the time
of Subhanallah, there's so much benefits. This is a time when
Allah, Subhanahu, WA accept from us. So make is the father that
time you know mashallah, encourage our family members. We are
together and Masha Allah we we make beautiful ADKAR here in Cape
Town. You know, we are so blessed. Alhamdulillah, everything we bring
together, and we try to do it, do it in congregation. So there's a
beautiful ADKAR that we make, mashallah, that is, it hails from
Tarim In Yemen, mashaAllah, where we read Rashad.
Oh
La
Ilaha,
Allah
and
Allah, Allah
for Naya Kareem, we make this dua Masha Allah. Why? Because it is
encouraged for us to make tahleel in abundance in the month of
Ramadan, meaning testifying that there's only one go, one God to
worship, and that is Allah subhanahu wa, and also testifying
that the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Sallam is the messenger
of Allah subhanahu wa, and then what do we say? The staphylot
We're seeking Allah subhanahu wa, forgiveness. This is something
that is encouraged throughout the month of Ramadan seeking
forgiveness. Our ultimate goal is when Ramadan ended Allah subhanho
wa Taala should have forgiven all our sins, and may Allah subhanaw
taala grant us that opportunity to have a clean slate when the month
of Ramadan has passed us. I mean, I mean this alukan, Jannah. We
asking ALLAH SubhanA wa Taala abundantly during the month of
Ramadan to enter us into paradise, when I also be coming and now and
we seek refuge in Allah subhana wa Taala from the hellfire. And this
is a beautiful, beautiful way to put all of this together,
Inshallah, reading it with a beautiful tune, Allah, except from
us. And then what happens? We say. Then after that, Allah, we ask
Allah subhanahu wa to pardon us. Why? Because Allah subhanho wa
Taala loves to pardon so we say, Ya Allah.
Is Pardon us. This is an attribute which you have, and you love to
do. You love to pardon your slaves. So pardon us. So why don't
do this? InshaAllah, this is a great time. This is a great,
blessed month. And if we ask Allah, Subhanahu, WA loves to
forgive us, and may Allah grant us, all unto us, Amin ya Ramin,
and then our next brief question is, during this pandemic, can we
follow Salat taraweeh, salatul tarawih, or any Salah over the
radio or via television?
The preponderant view, the view amongst the majority of scholars,
is that we cannot do this. There must be a desire, there must be a
connection between you and the Imam. For example, if I go to the
masjid, there's an ikama. I make more. I make I connect myself to
the Imam, and then what happens? We follow that Imam, and then
Mashallah. That is what a Jamaah formulate. But if it's somebody on
the radio, he is not within our vicinity, we do not connect to
that person, then obviously we cannot do that. So this gives us
the judgment that obviously we won't be able to follow somebody
who is leading Salah on a radio and a television and we do that at
the same time. We rather perform our salah or salatul taraweh by
ourselves. This is so great Wallahi, to be an imam in our own
homes, in our own houses. This is an opportunity that Allah has
given us to also experience what Saharan home experience,
Rasulullah came out for three days and performed taraweeh Salat with
the Ashab and those who joined, who was present at that moment in
time, after the third day, the messenger, sallAllahu sallam, did
not come out. There's a reason why he did not come out. Why was this
Masha Allah, SubhanAllah that is so full of Rahman, he feared that
Allah subhanahu wa, if we continue, and if he continued like
that, Allah subhanahu wa, compulsory upon us. Can we imagine
that another compulsory Salah during the month of Ramadan?
Nobody will be able to leave it out why it becomes compulsory? No.
Rasulullah sallam was so merciful. He thought about us, and he rather
did not come out, and then he performed it at home. And
mashallah, yeah, we can practice that. So how about they practice
their tarawih Salah at home as well? MashaAllah in the time of
uma RAM, he witnessed in Masjid navawi We make little groupings of
of the Ashab. They made salatu tarawih or salatu tahanjut and
their own. And he witnessed this, and it was a buzz in the masjid.
But Subhanallah, we can only imagine, yeah, a crew. Here, a
crew, and there a few. And there a few, how it looked. And he said,
subhanAllah, we need to do something. And the maslaha that
came about was but uma RAM, who did for the benefit of the ummah.
He took the qadi to stand in front, and then Masha Allah. He
gathered everybody together. And that is how the 20 rakaat of
tarawih started, and that is what we are currently following
Mashallah. So he followed the Rashidun as the Prophet
sallallahu, so beautifully mentioned, follow me and follow my
Ashab, my Rashidun, that will also be a part of my son, may Allah
subhanahu wa and I hope that answer is clear, that we cannot
follow an Imam which is leading on the radio and we are at homes, we
follow the Imam which we have connection. So if the fathers is
at home, he can lead for his entire family. Amin Iraq, or if
the Son is also capable of doing it in Allah, obviously, being
Bali, if Muk, then he can also do that. I mean, I mean, then the
next question is, if the lockdown continues, how will aid be
performed? MashaAllah, we think about, read this is so beautiful
about the believers. We are so fasting on the third day. We
already thinking about Eid, masha Allah and may Allah grant us a
beautiful Eid soon. Amin Arab Alameen. But if
lockdown continues, obviously, if you think of it, it's been Ola for
jumara. Now we performing jumara at home, you know. So it will be
Bill Ola for us to also continue in such a fashion that we will
obviously perform our Eid Salah at home as well. Our Salah al Jamara
will be with our families. So it is a sunnah Mu akhela Jumaa is
compulsory. It's Allah in the madhhab of the Shafi. What will
happen is we will do exactly the same as we do now Inshallah, by
performing our IELTS at home. And also, you know, we'll have an
Imam, he'll give some advice and whatever. And then our ins we'll
make with our families Inshallah, Allah, Subhanahu wa. So obviously,
if the restrictions are still there for us not to be able to go
out, and may Allah make it easy for the entire ummah. Inshallah,
we yearn for our masalaji. We yearn to be in public places and
to to socialize and to greet one another with hands again, may
Allah afford us to do this again. Inshallah, but if restrictions are
still in place, then Inshallah, we'll follow the same method that
we're following now in Allah, Subhanahu wa knows best. And then
we have the next question, does the fidya have to be one kg worth
of rice or food, or can I not rather cook for an extra person
and have that food distributed so mashaAllah, beautiful question the
Madhab.
Up mashaAllah, the Shafi, yeah, it requests from us to give one kg
worth of rice or food,
the amount close to that, the amount that it cost we would give
that Widya. But I think Subhanallah, you know, if we can
cook it, it makes it, makes it just, just so much easier for the
person that I'm going to give it for. So obviously, the the
quantity and the amount doesn't change. If I cook, it's still a
meal, it's still a kilo that I'm giving, all the conditions are
fulfilled. Then I think, be the last Subhanallah, it will be fine
and okay for us to cook for such a person and to distribute it in
such a manner. And may Allah subhanaw Tara grant us
understanding Abu Rameen. And then there's another question that came
up whether an earbud in our ears break our fast. So no, we an
earbud will not break our fast. Whatever goes into an opening
whereby Subhanallah it will enter into our stomachs, and that will
obviously be a means then for us to feel relief that will break our
fast. But in earbud, just to merely clean the ear, but
obviously also not going too deep. Now that you know this opening
that we have in the ear, it we heard our eardrums, and that
happens Subhanallah, then it will cause a problem, but just by
merely cleaning the ears, it won't break out fast and Allah subhanahu
wa. And
there's another question that was there, the question of, at what
age does fitrah become compulsory? So in Islam, when once I become
Bali, in Bucha love, then it becomes compulsory for me to pay
fitrah. But in fitrah, what happens? The case is that the
responsibility is in the hands of the person who's in charge of his
family. So if I have a child who is not Mukalla, it does not mean
that child will not pay fitro, every member of your family. If
you have seven in your in your family members, you have the
husband, the wife, and you have five children, then all seven need
to pay fitrah. All seven need to pay fitrah, but the responsibility
is upon the shoulders of the Father, up until such a time
whereby the other members of the family, if the father is no longer
there and he can't afford to do it, then obviously what will
happen the owners will be on the next person responsible, who's
either the grandfather, who's either the son, the eldest son, or
whoever are capable of doing that, Inshallah, to pay the fitrah of
the members and Allah subhanahu wa knows best. And
how can we maximize
the opportunity in the situation that we currently at Subhanallah,
we have the look with the Quran. We have sufficient time. We can
make all the salahs that I have Subhanallah probably never made in
my life. There's so much, so many sunnah that we can perform. The
Sunan. Is the sunan of
salatu Haj, we can perform different type of nawafi And
subhanAllah. Salatul UWA being after mahrib. I can read Quran
after fajr. I can read Quran after mahrib. I can read Quran Allah the
entire day. This might be my first year that I have such a Quran that
I'll complete my first khatam. So there are many ways that we can
Subhanallah benefit and take maximum, maximum lesson from this
trial that Allah subhanahu has placed us under. And what is that
it is really to gain horrible closeness to Allah subhanahu wa
says in the Quran, where the we are asking, Allah subhanahu wa,
you have placed us in the situation. Allah subhanahu wa
says, anifa ini al qarib, if they ask about me, tahini, Akari. Allah
is closing near one time, closer than the month of Ramadan. Let us
speak to Allah subhanahu wa has an opportunity for me to learn to ask
Rasulullah Sallam and implement it in my life. What the messages of
Allah Salam used to say when he is when you leave the house, we enter
the house, what he used to say before we go sleep, before I enter
into the laboratory, all those type of things can become
accustomed to me again. And mashaAllah, we teach it to our
family members. These are all ways and means that we can gain
closeness to Allah, and not only closeness, but through following
the correct sunnah, the Sunnah that I have neglected throughout
my life. Now I'm familiarize my familiarizing myself with it again
and inshaAllah, if I do this, can we imagine the amount of rewards
already? The fast is a great reward. Is Allah subhanahu wa,
mentioned in a hadith, would say that a muli that fasting is for
me. Every other thing we do, every other ritual we do, every other
fight we do, it is for ourselves and for the benefit of ourselves.
But the fasting Allah subhanahu wa says that fasting is for me. Wa,
Ana Aja, Zi be and I am the one who rewards for fasting. I am the
only one who will be able to give reward Allahu Akbar, we.
Know what the reward of fasting is, Allah subhanahu Wald that from
us. So inshallah to Allah with these few questions that came
about and mashaAllah, the answers, the answers that has been given.
Is this another question that came about? What about the covid 19
test on the fast? Does it affect the fasting anyway? MashaAllah,
the fatwa has been passed already by our Mufti that it doesn't break
the fast. Alhamdulillah, nothing will enter into the stomach.
Whatever goes down into our opening,
that is when it enters into our stomach lining. Then that will,
Inshallah, to Allah, break the fast. So our covid 19 test, if we
take the test, they either test you in your nose, in your nostril,
putting a deep up to the back, and then the other way is, I think, in
the mouth, by taking a sample, going right at the back as well.
But it is not sufficient whereby it will break our fast.
Alhamdulillah, pranamin, right? So, Inshallah, Allah subhanaw
taala knows best, and Allah subhanahu wa is the Judge of all
but ALLAH SubhanA grant us understanding. Inshallah, I hope
the answers that has been given was clear, and I'm greeting you
now, Inshallah, as you all are waiting now, this is a great time,
also the time when we are waiting for Iftar. You know, we rasalami
encourage us to listen to Iftar. So when that goes, don't delay
immediately, break your fast, subhanAllah, and at that time make
dua for in the indeed the times, at the time of Iftar, it is musta
Jada by Allah subhanahu wa will accept Abu as at that time. And
the Dhikr that we have made, Inshallah, let us make abundance
of la ilaha, illallah, Muhammad, Rasulullah, sallam, abundance of
istifa, saying a staphylo Allah, asking Allah, Subhanahu, WA
Jannah, when are all the becoming and now and protection from the
Hellfire
abundantly? Allah meant Abu Asmaa, Oh Allah, pardon us. For indeed
you love to pardon so. Pardon us. I mean Abu Asmaa.
