About Jesus

To Muslims, Jesus (peace be upon him) is actually unique, and not in a superficial or ambiguous way. Jesus, one of God’s finest prophets and messengers, is mentioned 25 times in the Quran, with a full chapter dedicated to his illustrious mother, the Virgin Mary, to whom he was miraculously born and whom some Muslim scholars consider a prophet herself.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that I couldn’t be a Muslim without believing in Jesus. Belief in God, angels, divinely revealed scriptures, God’s messengers, the Day of Judgment, and divine decree are the six articles of faith in Islam. To reject any of these articles of religion is to reject Islam, and to reject any of God’s messengers (from Adam to Noah, Abraham to Moses, Jesus to Muhammad), is to reject Islam.

There are also several moral stories about him recorded in hadiths (the Prophet Muhammad’s sayings) and the writings of Islamic academics and sages throughout history.
