My name is Tasima Al Qayikh, and I'm
excited to announce a new series that the
Yaqeen Institute is launching,
which will be a collection of videos that
will reflect on the lives of some incredible
women and the contributions they made to their
societies.
As a teenager, there were probably only a
handful of female figures that I could look
up to. Now, that
number is steadily growing. But what really inspires
me along with the leaders we have today,
is when I come across a female companion
or scholar or just regular person who has
left such an impact on the world that
she's mentioned and recorded in hadith collections, or
books, or other historical sources.
And so the purpose of this series is
to introduce you to some of these inspirational
women.
What I hope will make this experience unique
for you is the fact that I will
not be limiting my coverage of these women
to a particular time period or location.
I want to use this as an opportunity
to highlight the achievements of women across space
and time, and perhaps you'll personally relate to
one story of a hard working leader or
all of them. In any case, the ultimate
purpose of these reflections is to inspire you,
or your sister, or your brother, or anyone
who's looking to give back to their community
and make a difference for the better.
So, inshallah, we'll be releasing the first set
of these series next month. They'll be short
and sweet, so you can tune in at
any time, but with enough detail to get
you thinking, to get you motivated, and to
get you contributing to society.
I want to encourage you all to join
the conversation.
Comment on the video to share people who
have inspired you to do good. Be it
a mother, a scholar, or a figure in
history.
Every story is important because it's these stories
that have made a better you and it's
these realities that have made stronger communities.
So tune in, join in, and get ready
to reflect and act. I look forward to
hearing from you all soon.
