When you come off of Ramadan, if you are a woman, you have probably
six to seven days that you need to make up. Some will have 10. Some
will have 15. As we go into Shoal, you will have another six or seven
days or 10 or 15 that you can't fast. So for some women, it is
literally impossible to make up all of your Qadha fast in Shoal
and do the six sunnahs.
So the question is, what is what are we going to do? Then? How are
we managing our fast? And I've also realized that a lot of women
are not making up the fast from one year to the next, and so they
are piling up fasts. And then some women even are are doing sunnah
fast, but not making up their adult fast. So all of this has
really motivated me to talk about and talk about this and really
think about this. And how are we interacting with our fasting? How
are we interacting with adult fasting? How are we interacting
with sunnah fasting, and what does that mean for us as women,
especially a lot of women have, on top of the week or so of Ramadan
to make up, they have days of
whole ramadans From the time that someone told them they couldn't
fast when they're pregnant or nursing, and so they have all
these days.
It's a lot of days, and it's a, it's a, it's a difficult thing for
so many women.
So at first, I want to discuss the question by itself, and then I
want to go into my own personal advice of how we how I think we
should approach it. We are losing our understanding of the
importance of fault, losing our understanding of the role that
fuddled has in our lives.
Now our funneled fasting, I'm going to we have fuddled fasting.
We have photo prayers that need making up. I'm only going to talk
about fasting right now. Our funneled fasting is something we
owe God. We have a debt to Allah Azzawajal and
a very beautiful opportunity to pay it back, and that can be paid
back at any time. There are some different method rules about what
what is, what happens if you wait a long time, you wait a whole year
or more, but you need to take a month class to get those details
followed, called the is first before sun, it is the most
important thing, and as many women have many days to make up, I
suggest that you don't worry about Sanna. Leave it to the side right.
Now do your kada fast, and yes, as quickly as possible. Now, if you
can do those kada fasts in Shawal and gain the benefit of shawan.
Alhamdulillah, maybe you do six of them. Maybe do six of your qadda
in shawar, because you're saying to yourself, you know, I know the
Prophet sallallahu mentioned six days of shawar. I want to just
have a nod to that. I know a lot of women who make up their fast on
Mondays and Thursdays. They make them up in the days of the hijab.
That doesn't mean they're combining to intentions. It means
they understand there's blessing of fasting in those days, and so
they're fasting on those days to make up their Qatar.
