As we said before, we're officially starting insha
Allah,
Alhamdulillah,
our beloved Sheikh is here as well. May
Allah
accept from him and from all of you
and for those who facilitated this.
Islamic Center of Tacoma
for, hosting the Sheikh throughout the United States,
as well as our local community center here,
the MCM. May Allah
accept.
And before we begin,
Just to quickly translate,
The Sheikh mentioned amongst the many surprises here
in the United States,
is to see actually a lot of the
positives, a lot of the things that people
don't know about the United States,
communities of Muslims and others. Amongst them is
a small masjid that had almost 300 carriers
of the Quran, 300 of the Quran, may
Allah bless them. And, of course, those who
grew up here, you know that this is
the reality for you, that you go to
many centers and you find almost every single
masjid, every city. You have many huffal, the
many students of Quran.
So there were a lot of very positive
things the Sheikh has seen here, and he's
very happy and blessed to be here. He's
making du'a for the entire community and for
all of our communities. May Allah
keep our hearts connected. And he said the
main reason he is here is out of
love for the sake of Allah
We ask
Allah to keep our hearts united
out of love sincerely for him.
When we listen to a beautiful recitation of
the Quran,
oftentimes we don't think about the the goals.
Sometimes we listen because we have recordings and
m p threes and YouTube, and we don't
think about the goal.
And Allah
made it clear to us, and especially the
youngsters, remember this when you have access to
a lot of things on YouTube and social
media.
The main goal of the Quran
to reflect upon its verses. Why? So that
we change.
So we'll get closer to Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala. And one of the goals
tonight as we listen to our beloved Sheikh,
Sheikh Hayta, may reward him.
For those who don't know in Qatar, I
know you're all familiar. We've shared his recitations
throughout.
And we have many family members.
A family in Qatar who pray behind the
sheikh, and they said it's one of the
means
of getting closer to Allah
So the goal is to have,
to have humility when we listen to the
Quran.
Quran. For our iman to increase, we ask
Allah
to grant us that. So I'm gonna share
one thing about what we're doing.
What's the program?
It is from Allah's mercy.
That he gave us
different
for the Quran.
So there are general
about the entire Quran, the blessings, the virtues,
the rewards.
Specific that
have different types of virtues
like protection.
You also have
the protection,
the healing of certain ayaat and surah, and
the general Quran. You have the of certain.
You have
the guidance of other.
So the goal tonight as we listen to
the beautiful recitation of our beloved guest and
our sheikh, sheikh, may Allah preserve him is
to go back and forth and have
one part education.
So and then a recitation.
There's an authentic hadith, the prophet
that I have divided the prayer between me
and my slave, and my slave will receive
what he asks for. So what we'll do,
I'll mention each part of the hadith and
maybe we can hear the recitation for it.
When
When the servant recites the ever merciful, the
most compassionate Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, says my
servant has praised me.
When the servant recites
king of the day of judgment or sovereign
of the day of judgment, Allah remarks,
my servant has glorified me and sometimes he
would say, my servant entrusted his affairs to
me.
When the worshiper says, you, we worship, oh,
Allah, and we trust in you, Allah
says, this is between me and my slave,
and my slave will receive what he asks
for. And then to the end of the
Surah,
When the servant recites,
guide us along the straight path, the path
of those who have not incurred your displeasure
nor those who have gone astray. Allah
says, this is for my servant and my
servant will receive what he asks for. In
other words,
every single time you pray,
every single salah, every recitation of Al Fatiha
is a dua. And when you recite, you
are reciting in a conversation.
So imagine if you're talking to Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala, it's not to be fit for
the Muslim to be distracted,
to rush. So take your time with Surah
Al Fatiha. Amongst the
amongst
the of
Every time you hear his name,
peace be upon him.
He says when the prophet, peace be upon
him, was next to
alaihis
salam,
he heard a sound from above him, so
he raised his head. And he said,
So that door opened, and he lifted his
head and he looked and he said, this
is a gate which has been open in
the heaven today, and it's never been open
before today.
An angel came through that gate, descended to
the earth, and he said this is an
angel who came down to the earth who
never came down before.
He gave his greetings and he said rejoice.
Good news. Good news of what?
Be,
happy with this good news of 2 lights
that have been given to you that were
not given to a prophet
before you. And then he said,
The,
recitation of
and the last parts of,
you would not recite them except that Allah
will give you. What does that mean?
The scholar said the dua within those recitations
because al al Fatiha is a dua as
you heard and the end of Al Baqarah
will get to shortly inshallah.
This brings us to Surah Al Baqarah. And
Surah Al Baqarah has many.
What we can do inshallah, we'll listen to
the opening parts of Surah Al Baqarah, the
first 5 ayat from our sheikh, and then
we'll mention one of the major hadith about
Surah Al Baqarah so we can implement it.
Aliflamim.
Recite the Quran, meaning as a habit.
Recite the Quran regularly.
It will come on the day of judgment
to intercede for its companion.
Recite the 2 lights.
And the prophet
said, read these two lights,
meaning as a habit. On the day of
judgment, they will come as 2 clouds or
2 shades
or 2 flocks of birds.
And they will plead, they will
on behalf of the one who used to
recite them and listen to the conclusion. The
prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam concluded,
Recite al Baqarah specifically here, Surah Al Baqarah.
For reciting it is a blessing. It leads
to Baraka in life.
If you abandon it, it will cause you
loss or regret.
And it cannot be
confronted
by many scholars sees the magicians. Others said
the people of laziness, May Allah
protect us. Surat Al Baqarah ironically is the
longest surah of the Quran.
Not one surah of the Quran. And the
only surah surah the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam says, it has barakah if you recite
it. We might think
the barakah in your wealth, your job, your
school. You'll find it through the connection to
Surah Al Baqarah. And then there are specific
parts of
We'll talk about 2.
The first is,
and the second is.
So
we'll start
with a recitation,
of.
The
prophet
said, whoever recites
after the written obligatory
prayer, nothing will prevent them from entering Jannah
except
death. Meaning, it's a guarantee. Now what does
this mean? The fact that you're reciting Ayatul
Kursi is that you're consistent with your salah.
And, of course, recitation with Taddebur. There are
many other hadith amongst them, the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam
spoke to, one of the companions, Ubayd bin
Kabr and asked him,
Do you know which verse of Allah that
you've memorized
is the mightiest, the most powerful?
He asked them the question again.
He said to him, may this knowledge
of that is correct of
make you happy, pleasant. Meaning, this is the
right answer. And of course, there are many
reasons for this. Among some are the names
and attributes of Allah. Among some,
which are mentioned in Surat Al Baqarah, Aliyah
Imran, and Surat Taha. And the last part,
of course, of Al Baqarah that we have
to implement as a sunnah
is the concluding verses. And the concluding verses,
oftentimes, we hear them and we don't know
why.
What we'll do
Prophet said, whoever reads the last 2 ayat
of Surah Al Baqarah before going to sleep,
it will suffice you. What does that mean?
A lot of the scholars commented, and they
said, in short, it means it will suffice
you in terms of reward throughout the night,
according to one opinion, as well as protection
from all harm throughout the night. This is
a habit. I know we're going through a
hadith, not just Quran, but the point is
for us to implement
these. The point is to get closer to
Allah
And the final hadith I'll share here about
Surah Al Baqarah, prophet
said,
said,
The
prophet
said Allah inscribed
a book 2000 years before the creation of
the heavens and the earth, from which the
final 2 ayaat of Surat Al Baqarah were
revealed if they are recited for 3 nights
in a home no devil can come near
it.
Up to this point, we mentioned Al Fatiha
and the focus during Al Fatiha,
and the importance of reciting it regularly in
our homes
and as well. Specifically,
after the 5 prayers,
and of course with
and the last two verses of Suratul Baqarah
before going to sleep. So we already have
almost 6 or 7 habits that we have
to implement
teach our families, educate, may Allah grant us
consistency.
We can move forward
and allow the Sheikh to recite a a
lengthier passage and listen for us to listen
and focus and reflect, and then we'll add
some commentary
afterwards.
There's a really interesting hadith
reported by Ibn Umaydin
he asked
A lot of people don't know this hadith,
and it's very beautiful,
especially after hearing the ayat and the recitation.
He said to
her,
She's he said, tell us about some of
the most or one of the most interesting
or amazing things you've seen from the messenger
of Allah
She will remain silent. She thought about it,
and then she responded.
1 of the nights, he said to her,
leave me so I can worship my Lord.
Like, spend more time in worship.
She said, I love to be with you,
but I also love what you love. Meaning,
I love for you to do that.
He stood and he purified himself
to
and then he stood to pray.
She said he started to cry
until his cheeks became wet.
He started to cry even more and his
beard started to become wet.
Until he started to cry, it was so
much, his tears started to drop to the
ground.
And this is what she said.
Arrived
to start, the call to pray the announcement
for salah.
When he saw him crying,
He said to him, oh, messenger of Allah,
Why are you crying when Allah has already
forgiven your past and your future? This is
what he said.
On this night, a verse was revealed to
me.
Woe to the one who recites it and
does not reflect on it. And then he
recited
to the end of the ayah, the ayat
we just heard recited. It is so important,
brothers and sisters, that when we listen to
the Quran,
always
the goal, the hadaf is to get closer
to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. May Allah grant
us that and make us people of tadabur
and tafakkur.
So the sheikh is is sharing some beautiful
reflections for us. The Quran is filled with
many different types of virtues, many different types
of rewards.
Amongst them, the saying of the prophet
he said, I do not say that alif,
lam, meem is all just one letter, one
reward rather. Alif is its letter, lam, and
meem each individually.
And for every recitation of every letter you
are receiving, a
multiplied by 10. So 10 minimum for every
letter of the Quran. The Sheikh Hafidullah is
also reminding us, we all have 24 hours
every single day.
How much of that is for the Quran?
Is it just half an hour? Half an
hour of 30 minutes. Imagine reciting
whatever you're able to, a juz or half
a juz, whatever you're able to recite. But
imagine how many letters, how many words, how
many phrases,
and the reward that Allah
gives you for your daily recitation.
Allah blessed us, by the way, with those
24 hours. So how much of it are
you giving to connect to the speech of
Allah?
Sheikh
mentioned that it's not only about you reading
all the time, but also listening to the
Quran.
And one example is that the prophet sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam. The Quran is revealed to
him, and Al Bukhari reports from Abdullah bin
Masood radiallahu an that one time Rasulullah salallahu
alaihi wa sallam, every time you hear his
name, sallallahu alaihi wa sallam,
he said to him recite to me. And
Abdullah radiallahu anhu said, it was revealed to
you, and you want me to recite? Meaning,
should I recite and it was revealed to
you? He said, I like to hear it
from someone else. That's a reminder for us
to listen to the Quran often.
So the prophet
heard Abdullah
recite from the beginning of Surah Al Nisa
all the way until he reached number 41.
And the verse is translated,
The verse is translated
as a, remember, direct address.
How will it be when we bring for
every nation, every ummah, a witness? So the
prophets will testify against and for their people.
And we will bring you, oh Muhammad sallallahu
alaihi wasallam, as a witness over them. The
prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam out of his mercy
out of his mercy for people and wanting
them to be saved was crying, and he
said, Hasbuk, stop reciting. And the Sahaba turned
and noticed the prophet
was tearing up.
We have a huge blessing to be able
to listen
to any you want, to be able to
listen at any time to you're
able to listen and have recordings when you're
tired, You're able to listen and no previous
generation in our ummah had this blessing.
Not just the live recitation,
but the recordings.
How much do we take advantage of that?
So anyone everyone is struggling with something. Everyone
is struggling with some challenge, hardship, sadness, a
problem, any kind of difficulties with family, yourself,
your
your heart. And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is
reminding us that the solution is the Quran.
You have a struggle, turn to the Quran.
You have a worry, turn to the Quran.
Anxieties, turn to the Quran. You need guidance,
turn to the Quran. You feel sad, you
need clarity, you need purpose, go back to
the Quran. The Quran is the solution, and
it's it's so we're not surprised by it.
What I find difficult to translate sometimes are
the verses of the Quran that are so
rich in Arabic and so difficult or limited
in English.
So when Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala tells us
the Quran is a reason to to be
happy,
this is the mercy of Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala that we have access to his speech,
and Allah
tells us that the Quran is a.
It's a for what is in the the
chest, the hearts. May Allah
make us and our loved ones amongst the
people of the Quran.
The Sheikh
Hafidaullah. First he thought I I ascended, I
disappeared,
when he turned around.
So one of the emphasis that sheikh is
giving, especially for the youth, the young Muslims,
pay attention to your time. It'll pass by
very quickly. Connect to the Quran. Hold on
to it. This will be a big part
of your development during these crucial years, and
especially as a minority in this country with
many temptations and distractions. Hold on to the
Quran. And he mentioned the example, 2 authentic
narrations. One of them is, from Sunan Avila,
would on the day of judgment.
The person, especially the one who held on
to the Quran, on the day of judgment,
the Quran will testify for this person. And
the Quran will plead, oh Allah, give this
person the garments of honor and the crown
of honor in one hadith.
And this person will be surprised where is
this coming from. This is for what you
did with the Quran.
There's also a narration in which the Quran,
the the person of the Quran will be
told recite, and
the person will start to recite because they
used to recite in this
world. And read and ascend. Imagine upgrading in
Jannah. May Allah grant us the highest levels.
Every ayah
recite, you ascend, you ascend, you ascend until
you recite the last aya that you know.
So it's a motivation for many of us.
For me, when I was younger, this hadith
was the main motivation for me to actually
memorize as much as I could at that
time. So you are looking at where you
want to end up in Jannah, especially the
youth, but also it's never too late. It's
for everyone as a reminder. May Allah make
us and our loved ones amongst the people
of the Quran.
So one advice for the parents, we took
the Sheikh
spoke about the reward for the person of
the Quran. Is there a reward for the
parents and emphasis and incentive? So amongst them,
there's a very famous hadith in which the
prophet
peace be upon him. He says on the
day of judgment,
the parents
of the people of the Quran will be
brought forth, and they will be honored, and
they will be given crowns, the light of
which are,
greater than the sun. There's a narration that
mentions the jewels of which have never been
seen in this world. And they will ask
what is this for? What is this reward
for? And this is because their child was
a person of the
Quran.
The bank, how much money you leave behind
for your kids. You emphasize to your sons
and daughters, like, education and other things, but
you don't emphasize as much the afterlife, the.
So their whole life, they're being raised, and
the thought is all about what do we
have here? What am I leaving for you
here? Even though the reality of this world
is very fast, we're all going to depart.
And on the way here, the sheikh was
praying in South Dearborn,
the AMS community, Masjid Dix.
So the sheikh was praying over there, and
they had a janazah
for a young man who's about 35 years
old. 35 years old. We have no guarantee.
And I I also remember a few months
ago, we had 3 janazes at the same
masjid.
A grandfather,
60 something years old,
college student, 21 years old, and a 6
year old, all praying together. So the reality
is we're going to leave very quickly. So
the parents who want to invest
in anything that is lasting, they invest in
the afterlife. They invest in their children to
connect to the Quran. And the sheikh mentioned
the famous hadith, when you pass away, when
you die, that's basically everything gets cut off,
all your opportunities, except three things.
Amongst them is knowledge, which benefits people. This
is the knowledge you leave behind. You teach
others. You teach your children. You publish a
book, whatever it may be, as well as
the continuous charity,
and then the dua of your child or
a righteous child you leave behind. And, of
course, the children of the Quran
naturally
will probably be making maybe more dua
benefiting their parents. So in the grave, that
mother, that father, their grave is expanded, and
they experience some reward or blessing. So they
ask, what is this for? This is the
dua of your childhood. This is in one
this is what your child did
of the Quran. May Allah bless our parents
and our children. Make us amongst the people
of the Quran.
