My apologies. I'm actually in a business center
at a hotel here in Austin, Texas.
Ramadan Kareem, HIPAA. Hope you're doing great. Appreciate
the new book.
Everyone check out HIPAA's
books for children. They're, like, so good. So
forgive me, I'm actually in a hotel business
center,
because the Internet on my floor isn't working,
and
we have to,
you know,
do what we have to do. So, alhamdulillah,
throughout throughout the month of Ramadan, every Friday
Saturday, we're going to be reading
from,
a poem written by Sheikh Al Harawi,
and Sheikh Al Harawi, he's a great scholar
from around 250 years ago in Egypt in
the Azhar, and the hamdah, he he wrote
this poem,
about the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam. Thank you, Aisha, I really appreciate that.
I appreciate visiting Berkeley was wonderful,
a lot of memories in Berkeley.
So I felt like this poem would be
really important for us to go through during
the month of Ramadan just because there's so
much going on, and it becomes very easy
to become unstable
and destabilized by the world around us. And
the best way that we can,
center ourselves
is to go back to the prophet Sallallahu
alaihi wa sallam.
Allahu Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says about the prophet
that
the prophet is the best example to follow,
and
the prophet
is sort of our GPS for success. So
tonight, we're gonna keep it a little brief
just because for some reason, on my
floor, the Internet is out, so I'm actually,
like, right next to the lobby in a
hotel,
getting ready to go to
PM
in Austin, Texas later this evening. So first,
Ramadan Mubarak to all of you, and second,
we saw a sister asking us to make
for,
her sister who's in labor, and we see
our sisters from Afghanistan. We also pray for
our brothers and sisters in the. Nam.
Abdullah Al Harawi would not would,
was a great scholar of the Sheffi. He
met her from around 200 years ago in
Egypt.
So this poem is around 52 lines. It's
going to go through the character of the
prophet,
and also some of the miracles of the
prophet,
and the reason I felt that is important
is that we are dealing with 2 type
of doubts right now. 1 is the doubts
of the people who are antagonistic to Islam
from outside of Islam,
and oftentimes this is even portrayed by people
who claim to be religious,
by who people who claim to hold the
with a hat, not with hat, who who
hold the banner
of
Islam,
but we see sometimes those people are harsh
or sometimes they're too loose,
or they are uncentered from sort of the
balanced way of the prophet sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam. And And so we may have had
bad experiences with these people,
and oftentimes bad experiences with with the religious
people can be a very difficult test.
So how do we how do we create
the
How do we create the,
sort of
ability to overcome
the challenges of those who are antagonistic
to Islam as a faith,
is we go back to the miracles of
the prophet,
and we study those miracles,
and that allows us to develop that faith
in the prophet,
and allows us to combat
the attacks of those who are attacking our
creed. From inside the Muslim community, when we
encounter people who maybe even in name of
religion are acting irresponsibly
loose or irrationally harsh,
how can we overcome that challenge in the
community,
is by studying the character
of the prophet So this poem that we're
gonna go through over the next few nights
in the month of Ramadan
is going to provide us with a number
of examples of the beautiful miracles
of Sayidina Muhammad
that will allow us to strengthen and buttress
and insulate our faith from the attacks of
the disbelievers.
And then the last part of the poem
talks about the wonderful character,
the akhlaq of Sayna Muhammad salallahu alaihi wa
sallam. How he was? How was the prophet?
So whenever you run into bad examples, whether
it's in the masjid, whether it's in business,
no matter where you are, maybe you run-in
to caregivers,
family,
whoever,
people who may misrepresent
the religion of the prophet through their bad
character, you will remember these evenings that we
spent together. You will remember hearing about how
the prophet was. So this poem,
again, is meant to accomplish
2 important things. Number 1 is to provide
us a number of examples of the miracle
miracles of the prophet. Peace be upon him,
that will strengthen our imen,
and saydul aquen, sallallahu alaihi wasalam. And then
second, the character of the prophet
for ourselves to acquire that character. Like, we
we want to be in line
and,
centered on the character of the prophet,
and then if we've run into bad examples
around us,
that we can say no matter how religious
people may claim to be,
we can always go back
to the prophet
So tomorrow night, inshallah, I'll give you an
email address, that if you email us, we'll
send you a PDF of the translation of
the poem that I did.
Tonight, I'm not able to do it because
I'm actually in this hotel,
and for some reason, the Internet on my
floor isn't working, so I'm actually sitting
in the business center
of this hotel in Austin, Texas. So we'll
begin,
this poem,
right, which is the
the rest of the of of the of
the souls.
And the Sheikh he begins, he says, Alhamdulillah,
he begins, he says, Alhamdulillah,
all praise be to
Subhanahu wa ta'ala. You know, it's very important
to stay positive. And one of the best
ways to say positive is to always say,
And that's why in multiple places in the
Quran, in multiple contexts, we find Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala says, Alhamdulillah
Like, in different context, always
And that's why the prophet said
to say
to praise
Allah will fill the scales for us and
the hereafter.
Maybe
see someone type in a use of typing
and that includes typing,
by the way, receiving that.
But there's a beautiful narration from, Ibrna Maja,
that Allah
the prophet said that when Allah blesses somebody
with a blessing, listen to how nice it
is, and they say, Alhamdulillah.
Allah
will say,
look at look at my servant.
I I gave this person something which they
did not have the ability to achieve,
which basically is everything we have.
So Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala will say to
them,
it's so beautiful.
Look at this person, I gave them what
they do not have the power to achieve.
Well, I'll tell you Tani and that person
and that person gave me
and that person gave me by saying Alhamdulillah
something which
is invaluable,
such a beautiful hadith SubhanAllah, it should inspire
us to say Alhamdulillah,
that the Prophet
said
that
when Allah
provides his servant with a blessing, and that
person says, Alhamdulillah.
All praise be to Allah. Allah says to
them,
look at that person.
I gave them what they did not have
the ability to achieve,
and they gave to me by saying alhamdulillah
that which
you cannot put a price on,
subhanAllah
just by saying Alhamdulillah.
So the Shaykh he says Alhamdulillahi
That's a good question, so someone is saying
how can we thank Allah and thanking him
in itself
is a blessing he deserves to be praised
for. You know what Imam Shafi used to
say?
All praise be to Allah
who guided me to say all praise be
to Allah,
thus I have to praise him again.
SubhanAllah. So he says,
He says all praise be to Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala, Arab be my lords.
Beri I nasami. Beri is the one that
created and there was nothing before it.
Nothing before that has any likeness like Al
Badiyya
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. Al Khariqul Beri. What's the
difference between Al Khaliq? Al Khaliq is the
one always creating, alhamdulillah, human beings after human
beings after human beings after human beings. But
al bare is that first creation that had
no likeness before it, subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And he says who chose
Al Mustafa?
Who chose the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam?
Al umami.
Out of all communities and out of all
people,
Allah who Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala chose Sayedan and
Muhammad,
summa love alaihi wa'arihi wa sahbihilam,
above all humanity to be his final prophet.
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
So he says Al Mustafa
min say Iri
Al Umami
Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam
And actually this is of course in
line with the famous hadith
of the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wa'arihi Wasallam,
who said that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala chose
the Quraysh
from Kinana,
from the tribe of Kinana, and he chose
me
from the Quraysh. And then the prophet
said,
like I am the chosen from the chosen
from the chosen.
So Sayyidina Mustafa Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, we know
this is one of the names of the
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
he says, the Shaykh praise be to the
one who chose Al Mustafa
amongst all nations.
Alaihi salatu salaam. Wa na'asalaka
illa
laqafatalinas.
Then He says,
It's so nice. And again, tomorrow we'll have
the translation for you that you guys can
use as you come along. Today, I wasn't
able to finish it. I was and, of
course, it's a long day, but,
like, Allah is so merciful and so kind.
So he says the next line, to Mas'aratu
Wataslimu
yusahhibuhah.
Thereafter, As Salah.
And here Al Salah means like the mercy
of Allah.
Wataslimu
and the peace and blessings of Allah.
Usahibuha
always, always.
Upon the one who is blessed and chosen.
Upon the one who is chosen with incredible
character.
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam on numerous
occasions eludes to his noble character.
When he says,
the best of you are those who are
best to their spouses,
and I am the best to my spouse.
Sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
And the Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said,
the closest of you to me in the
hereafter will be those who have good character.
Subhanallah, we live in an age now where
character is an endangered species, especially because
the online world allows people to act in
ways they would never act in public,
and that's why the online world really is
a place where we have to,
cultivate more taqwa,
Like this is the place we should push
into with taqwa, we should push into with
ihsan because
the the the ease by which we can
be rude and harsh in,
a lack of empathy towards others,
it's it's it's facilitating
because we there's no immediate sort of,
responsibility
for acting out of pocket and acting out
of line. Again, brother Marek Murad, may Allah
bless you, is asking where can we get
this poem?
This poem is actually very difficult to find,
subhanAllah, but we will be putting out the
translation free,
for you guys tomorrow. We'll we'll provide you
a place that you can get it,
unedited, of course, but you'll be able to
use it as we go through it together.
So he says,
Al Mufaddal means that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
chose him and blessed him.
And he mentions 2 things that Allah blessed
the prophet with
out of many. Number 1 is,
his character. And look here, the first thing
the sheikh mentions is character,
because that is the key to anything.
The
the door
of dawah is opened with good character.
The door of being a good student starts
with good character.
The the door of being a good teacher
starts with good character, and there is no
one that has better character than the prophet.
Allah says about
him,
you are above the highest character. Like if
you looked at Ala, if you looked at
character as though it was a mountain, on
the on the top of the mountain, the
summit of the mountain will be the character
of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam. And Allahu
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala testifies the character of the
Prophet alaihi salatu salam when he says,
very beautifully,
very beautifully.
The Prophet is not externally astray
nor entirely astray. And that's why Allah Subhana
Wa Ta'la compares him to the star,
because the star is
is
is, you know,
it's hot and emitting light internally and externally.
So the prophet, sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam,
You
know? The process of
internally is on the Haqq
and externally
he's on the haqq that's why he's a
star. SallAllahu Arihi Wa'arihi Wa Sakhiyu Wasallam. Ma'adAllahu
Sa'hi Wa'ala
So the first he mentions is the Prophet's
noble character.
Alayhi salatu sir, and the second his hikm,
his wisdom. So Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has
favored him, salallahu alaihi wasallam,
with good character and wisdom.
That's why Imam Ashaafi said about the verse
who was given an understanding of the sunnah
was given hikm, was given wisdom.
Then the next time he says
and the AL is the family of the
Prophet.
You know the verse in the Quran says,
I don't ask you the prophet says to
the people of Mecca, I don't ask you
for any recompense,
any financial remuneration.
The only thing I ask you is that
you love my family.
And we know that the prophet he
said I'm leaving you 2 things Kitabullah
and my family Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, this hadith
al Sahih. And we know that the Prophet
Sallallahu Alaihi Wa'arihi Wa Sallam,
he says as related by Imam Al Bukhari,
because sometimes people think we,
as Sunnis, we don't love the family of
the prophet.
That, that's insane.
That's why all of the major major books
of Akita
mentioned the love of the family of the
prophet, and sometimes we Sunnis, we became a
little sensitive to this because of our Shia
brothers and sisters, and we didn't push in
to expressing the love we should have for
the Prophet's family, And maybe we haven't even
studied,
subhanAllah,
about the Prophet's family.
Salallahu alaihi wa sakhih wasallam. But if you
go to any of the major books of
hadith, you're gonna find the Manakib,
you know, the section on the virtues
of the family of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam. In fact, Sayyidina Imam Atul Midi and
his sun and he has a section
And the prophet in
numerous narrations mentions our love and admiration for
them.
Fakad ahabba hoola. Whoever loves Sayyidina Hussain,
Allah loves him. Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. And
he said in Sahih Bukhari, whoever,
angers
Sayda Fatima
Fakad Adani, then that person has angered me.
Salam
was Sahibi so he says War ari wa
sakhbi
peace and blessings be upon the Prophet his
family and his companions
A companion of the Prophet
is anyone who saw him, alayhi salatu salam,
and
was a believer in him, and died Alhamdulillah
as a Muslim.
And in the time of the Prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi
Wasallam,
this applies to a number of different type
of people. Of course, first and foremost,
are those people who accepted Islam, like Sayna
Umar, like Sayna Abu Bakr, like Sayna Ali,
like Sayna Umsalama, and others, and they died
as Muslims. But then there were others who
embraced Islam and then left Islam and came
back to Islam. We still consider them
as Sahaba.
Abdullah ibn Sar, he was Muslim, he left
Islam, he came back to Islam.
And here we learn something that Islam doesn't
believe in cancel culture,
Islam believes in redemption.
That people, Alhamdulillah,
we believe in the power of redemption, in
the power of forgiveness, and not amputating people,
unless of course there's egregious
mistakes made,
but, you know, people are going to make
mistakes SubhanAllah. So there were some people even
in the time of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
who left Islam and came back to Islam,
and still we consider them Sahaba,
because of the power of redemption, the power
of forgiveness.
Then there were others
who they left Islam and never came back
to Islam. Those people of course who don't
consider them Sahaba.
But here's something very beautiful. If we say
that a Sahabi is someone who saw the
prophet
and
believed in the prophet while they were alive,
and is a Muslim, then the greatest Sahabi
is Sayna,
Isa alaihis salatu salam.
Because on the night of Islam in Mi'raj,
the night of the night journey,
the prophet prayed with all of the prophets,
and prophet Isa, Jesus was there, and the
strong opinion in Sunni Islam
is, subhanAllah, that he is not dead.
So that means that Sayidna Isa alaihi salam,
he saw the Prophet while he was alive.
He testified to the Prophet's imama, and he
will die as a Muslim. So that means
the greatest Sahabi is Sayyidina Isa as mentioned
by Sayyidina Imam Asiuti,
And here he uses a little bit of
a rhetorical advice. He says, peace and blessings
upon the prophet, his family, his companions, and
his ummah,
as long as the birds it's beautiful.
As long as the birds, here he meets
the pigeons,
are singing in the Haram.
Anyone who's ever been to Mecca or Medina,
especially in the area of Mecca, you know
always you see these birds, the pigeons, you
always hear them. So what he meant is,
like, peace and blessings upon the prophet
upon the family of the Prophet
and upon the Sahaba of the Prophet
and upon the ummah of the prophet, as
long as those birds are singing. And, alhamdulillah,
that means all the time.
SubhanAllah, all the time.
All the time.
Such a nice statement, may Allah bless you.
Then he says to
continue,
He said it occurred to me, you know,
like in my heart it occurred to me
to take the steps in the following path
or to undergo the following
sort of,
like, effort. What he means is this poem.
For those of you who are joining us,
we're going to be going through every Friday
Saturday night this poem. Tomorrow we'll give you
guys a translation, Insha'Allah,
of the miracles of prophet Muhammad, peace be
upon him, and the character of the
prophet
because miracles help us deal with the attacks
of the Kufar.
The character helps us deal with the irresponsible
actions of some people who claim to be
Muslim. So there's a 2
full benefit to this text, to strengthen my
iman
in the face of those who don't believe
in Islam and attack it, and number 2,
to stay centered and not be destabilized
by the actions of some people who may
be irresponsible
and claim to act in the name of
Islam, but actually unfortunately hurt people more than
they help people. So the Sheykh, he says
he said to continue now, it occurred to
me that I should, you know, undertake the
following effort, meaning this poem,
al uri that I should follow the way
of the early scholars, the early people.
Madhuhul muhtarafilqidami
those who praised
and wrote poems about the virtues of the
prophet before me. So now he's just kind
of being introspective as a writer, and isn't
it beautiful that our ulema were poets, man?
He was a poet. You know, scholars up
into even till now, you still find people
who are very strong,
in language and very strong in in the
literary sciences. So he's writing this in a
poem.
It says,
very
You can hear it rhyming.
He says, you know, I I felt this
need to undertake this important endeavor to follow
those scholars who came before me
in mentioning the virtues of Al Muhtar,
the one that Allah chose SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam.
Madhi ajalulwaraqadran
waarfa'uhum
zikran, he said my praise,
my attempt to praise, meaning the Prophet alaihis
salatu salam, the best of humanity
SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam,
in stature.
And the one who has the greatest,
the greatest influencer,
you know. There is actually a fiqh that
I'm working on, a fiqh for influencers.
Because everyone wants to be famous now, everyone
wants to have influence.
But Allah says about the prophet
we raised your name.
SubhanAllah. We have to be very careful what
we use our influence for
because it's a responsibility that we'll be asked
about. The prophet
said,
Whoever starts a bad
habit, and people follow that person, they will
share in the punishment and sin with those
people.
But also the prophet inspiring us to be
good influencers, if that's what we wanna be.
And who starts a good action,
Whoever follows them they will share in the
reward with them.
So Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala,
Allah raised
and magnified
the remembrance of the Prophet. Alaihi salatusa.
So the Shaykh he says Madhi,
my praise the Arjal
Lord Wara Qadran Wa'arfa'aum
zikran
1 fa'aum fee yawmin
Muzdahani.
He said my attempt to praise the one,
alayhi salatu salam, who is the best of
creation in stature,
and the one who has, you know, his
name was raised
by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
And the one who on the day, when
it will be very crowded, and what he
means is the hereafter,
the day where it's going to be the
day of Hashar,
everyone will be running to different prophets, and
finally they will come to the prophet
and they will beg him, intercede with Allah
for us.
And he will say,
as we'll talk about this hadith in the
future later on, this is my job and
he will intercede.
Salallahuari wa aari wa sahibi salam.
And now he talks about what is the
subject of the poem that we're gonna be
going over. He says, and here he's playing
again in the Arabic language. It's a little
different than English, so it may feel different,
but hopefully you can get the idea. He
says,
be with pearls. Like what I'm gonna talk
about from the miracles of the prophet, peace
be upon him, and from the noble character
of the prophet are like pearls.
And it's a very beautiful metaphor because to
find a pearl you have to go at
the bottom of the ocean.
And for those of us who embrace Islam,
sometimes we know we had to go deep,
you know what I mean? And sometimes it
was difficult, but there in the depths
of being lost, we found the pearl of
the iman,
by the ways of Allah. So what it
means is here that you have to work
hard, and I have to work hard to
uncover, and to study, and to apply, and
live
prophetic lives that are aligned
with the compliancy of the sunnah. So he
says
that in this poem I'm going to be
sharing pearls
about the miracles of the Prophet. Mahjizat which
we're gonna talk about tomorrow. What does it
mean a miracle
in Islamic nomenclature? What are the Mahjizat to
say to Muhammad
salallahu alaihi wa sallam?
SubhanAllah. It's hard to translate this man,
but basically what he says is that the
miracles
of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wa Sallam
And the character of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam, they are like jewels.
SubhanAllah, like the most beautiful,
refined
regal
jewelry.
So he's comparing that to what he's gonna
share with us from the life of the
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
So he said I named it Rahatul Arwa.
I think it's a very beautiful title, especially
if you think about what I said earlier.
The goal that you wanna have in front
of you
when you study this with me is that
you're gonna come out with 2 things. Number
1, you're going to be familiar with some
of the Prophet's miracles,
alayhi salatu salam. So you can defend yourself
from the disbelievers,
and the atheists, and those who try to
attack Islam. And for some of you that
may even like myself, that may be people
within your own family,
or people that you know, you have to
deal with on the regular, so you wanna
equip yourself.
And you want to be inspired.
The second
goal of studying this poem, is that sometimes
within the Muslim community, we find people who
may claim to represent Islam, and we also
find sometimes the media
pushing the example of people who they try
to show are the archetypes of Islam, but
we know as Muslims these people are tripping,
so that can be destabilizing.
There's nothing perhaps more difficult
and challenging than when we run into people
who claim to represent the religion, but act
irreligiously.
It can throw us off. So how do
we maintain
alignment
in a time where even sometimes the people
who claim to be the people of religion
are off balance?
By studying the life of the Prophet,
and studying his character. So whenever you have
doubts, whether someone in your home is mistreating
you in the name of religion,
whether someone in the masjid, whether someone at
work, someone in the streets, whether it's a
friend or whoever,
you go back to the character of the
Prophet
Alaihi Salatu Wasallam.
So he says,
Raha
means rest,
for the souls.
Because it's there we can find rest in
times like this where things are difficult, man.
So where do I find rest in this
very unstable time, especially we're coming out of
COVID, and we see the earthquakes happening in
Turkey and Syria. We see what's going on
in Afghanistan. We see what's happening in Syria
and Iran and Iraq and Yemen. All over
the world, we see things happening in the
United States and England, Muslims and France, everywhere
in in in in in Albania and Bosnia.
We find rest
with the Prophet Sallallahu
Alaihi wa'hi Wasa'hi Sanjariya
Til Afra. And this pasidah will bring about
happiness, he says.
And that if you he says, if you
study this poem with me, it will
it will remove
any sort of like depression you may have,
any type of sadness you may have, and
any type of illnesses you may have, because
you're studying the life of the Prophet
SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam. So, those, Alhamdulillah, that's the
first seven lines of the poem that we
took,
This poem which is
very nice.
It should be taught, actually, I hope when
it's finished and translated, we teach it at
my school, but also I hope it can
be taught like in, middle school and high
school for Muslim students that are studying in
the English language to help center us
on the miraculous
message of the prophet along with the the
the the foundational
moral
movement of the prophet Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam.
So we're gonna stop here
We hope to see you guys tomorrow night
around 12 PM EST,
and we'll start to talk about the
of the prophet. He says
the next line he said, the prophet has
miracles that are illuminating.
If
there's any questions, we have a few minutes
we can take them. If not, Insha'Allah, I'll
see you guys tomorrow. Hope everybody
that Ramadan is going well with Nila.
So again, the poem,
the rest of the souls. My
Sheikh
Ibrahim Mohullah. And tomorrow we'll provide the translation
for you,
Insha'Allah. Any questions? If not, jazakamalaykha.
I have to run now to a PM,
in a local mosque here in Austin,
but insha'Allah, and please let other people know,
encourage people to,
join,
and we hope, inshallah,
Allah will make
Inshallah, we'll see you guys tomorrow.
12 AM. Yeah. 12
AM. Every Friday Saturday night, and we may
add another night. We'll see how it goes.
Every night, it will be the same time,
12 PM
12 AM, sorry,
Eastern time.
We ask
