Welcome now to our 3rd gathering
discussing the book Al Kharidah Al Bahiyyah
talking about the sanitation of the soul. And
we noted that the first practice that we
want to start to engage in, and from
now on, try at least to say it
a 100 times a day as best you
can.
Muhammad Rasoolullah.
If you can only say
it's okay.
But if you open, you know, you wanna
completely open the door, try to add Muhammad
to it.
The sheikh, he
says, Right? The Sheikh, he says,
from.
So abundantly,
basically, abundantly engage
in the dhikr
of with etiquette.
Allah will raise you.
The sheikh, he uses the word edeb. We
know the word edeb means etiquette.
And in Islam, when it comes to acts
of worship,
we divide etiquette into 3 parts. You wanna
remember this. Number 1 is what's called al
kabbaliyah
before the act.
Number 2 is what's called al musahaba. Like
the word sahabi, right, is during the act.
So as I'm accompanying this act, what etiquettes
do I have?
And then finally, al Badiyyah
after the act. So after the act, what
do I do? So you'll remember this every
major act of worship.
Let's take salah. So before before salah of
course the etiquette
is going to be like state of wudu,
but also like I want to turn off
my phone. I wanna get in the state
of mind. I wanna limit my distractions. I
wanna prepare for salah. So the sahaba
before they would pray they would change colors
and people would ask them what's
wrong and they say you know who I'm
who I'm about to meet. Right? So creating
the sacred space in my mind and heart
to engage now salah.
And then of course during salah, I want
to think about
my, you know, attention in prayer, my in
prayer,
make sure that I'm observing.
Right?
Being devote to Allah
in salah,
that I'm performing it correctly also.
And then after salah, Allah says no Quran.
Like salah keeps a person from evil.
So here we look at this act of
salah. We see a kabariyah,
musahaba,
badiyah, before, during and after.
So in the sheikh, he says,
that, you know, increase
a
bundle
with Adab. Here he means before you say
it,
during
and after. And he's gonna talk about that.
Now he says, the first is the etiquette
that should happen before we engage in dhikr
and he mentions a few.
The first
is
so I should make sure that I'm in
a state of wudu if possible if possible.
It's not you have to but if if
possible.
And that the place around me is clean,
if possible.
The third
and that you go into this in a
state of hope.
Like you walk into this meeting with hope,
man.
So that you would you reach what you
need to achieve
and that your entirety is is put into
it. So you walk in and I walk
into it with a state of hope.
The third
and
that before also we repent to Allah
as much as we can. In any way
we can.
Whatever you need to say in whatever language,
but I I'm walking in with a clean
slate.
I've I've seen Allah's forgiveness. I've see I've
I've seeked Allah's forgiveness.
The next
is
and then we send peace and blessings upon
the prophet
because this is miftah.
Right? This opens the door,
with a beautiful relationship with Allah
and Allah commands us. So we are observing
the command.
The next one,
and if possible,
try to face the qibla because, of course,
there's so much barakah and blessing. It's the
best direction to face
and that you bring, you know,
yourself into this place, like, whether you're into
totally. Like, you're totally there.
So these are the etiquettes before,
we engage,
in dhikr. Next time we'll talk about the
etiquettes after or during, excuse me.
So these are the etiquettes that we say
during dhikr next time inshallah. We're going to
talk about the etiquettes we say during
and
towards the
end.
So these are the etiquettes that we say
before. Now let's move on and talk about
the etiquettes that we say during
remembrance of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'ala. He says,
Now the sheikh, he talks about what are
the etiquettes that we should observe while we
are actually in a state of remembrance of
Allah. Number 1 is
that
that
that
we try to bring ourselves completely in the
presence of this situation.
So as I'm saying,
astaghfirullah
or la ilaha illallah, we're talking about here,
that meaning is is on the front of
my front of my thinking and I'm I'm
pondering and investing myself in
And I'm present. Allah says about the Quran
in That the Quran is a zikr. What
are the
that the Quran is a zikr. What are
the conditions of zikr? Number 1, My heart
is there. I'm not I'm not thinking about
this and that. My heart is present.
And if I'm saying it and you we
should make the zikr too loud or too
soft, should be in the middle voice that
I'm listening to it.
And that I'm present. Shaheed means
And actually if you think about it, Arabic
is really cool. It talks about the person
who's reading the Quran, they are shaheed on
themselves
as though they are they are witnesses
to the actual act. So be as though
you're a witness of what you do. It's
kinda cool. Right? So that you could describe
exactly what you've done perfectly.
So that's also here the idea is that
while I'm in the state of
As though I could describe everything I'm doing
because
I'm so invested
in the actual act. Very beautiful.
So inshallah next next time we're going to
move into the that we should say during
the actual act.
