Suhaib Webb – Division Is Emblematic of Modernity

There was a man that wrote a letter

to Imam Malik

and in that letter he criticized the Imam.

He said, you wear nice clothes,

you teach a lot of knowledge but you

don't focus on like being aloof from the

dunya

and staying away from the dunya. So the

imam he wrote back a letter

to him and he said that Allah

has divided

deeds amongst people like rain.

Some places get a lot of rain, some

places get different types of rain, whatever.

So our actions are like that. I do

this, you do that.

But all of us aren't good. That's the

kind of attitude that we need to have

when we see Muslims doing things that are

different than us or amplifying certain parts of

Islam that are different than a part of

Islam that we amplify. We should understand it's

like rain

and everywhere it goes, it's gonna bring benefit

inshallah.
