Shakiel Humayun – Removing Doubt 14th Sermon
AI: Summary ©
The book boss, a time when the best form of transport was a horse, did not cause people to lose their faith or make mistakes, but caused the town to come back to life. certainty is a character of one's life and can be measured through body, environment, and surrounding. Believers with a certain level of certainty and confidence will increase their likelihood of worship and reduce doubts. The Quran is important in building confidence and reducing doubts.

The Quraysh
in the time of the prophet Muhammad Sallallahu
Alaihi Wasallam
were after Abu Bakr Radiallahu Anhu.
They wanted Abu Bakr radiAllahu anhu to crack.
They wanted to come to Abu Bakr with
something,
some news, some information
that would make him recant monotheism
and his belief in Muhammad
So one day they thought they had that
news and that information.
So they came to Abu Bakr
and said,
do you know that your companion is saying
he went to Jerusalem and then to the
heavens in 1 night?
And they were so sure
that this was it.
This was the news
that would make Abu Bakr radiAllahu anhu crack.
Abu Bakr radiAllahu
responded after hearing this information and did not
meet the prophet Muhammad
yet.
So he had no idea
if this was true or not.
So he responded and said,
He said, if the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi
wa sallam said it,
then it is true.
They were shocked.
They were shocked that they were not able
to get Abu Bakr
with this amazing news.
Just to put into perspective,
we're not talking about
a time where space shuttles go into space.
A time where
we can send
satellites
up into the sky and beyond the sky.
We're talking about a time where the best
form of transport
was
a camel
or a horse.
And this claim at that time
was something that was
considered to be
astonishing.
Manifested his certainty,
his faith
in Allah and his messenger.
And so Bakr bin Adillah al Muzani
who's a tabi'i,
a scholar of the 1st century and then
died in the early 2nd century,
a who was a student of Ibn Abbas
and
This Tabiri
who met many of the sahaba
was saying to everyone that Abu Bakr radiAllahu
anhu
did not become a forerunner,
did not go ahead of all of you
because he had a lot of fasting
or a lot of salah, a lot of
prayers.
He only became a forerunner or went ahead
of you
because of something that was inculcated
in his heart.
And before we talk about
what was that thing in his heart,
We don't want anyone to misunderstand
that
here
is saying that Abu Bakr Radiallahu Anhu was
not making salah or that someone can come
and now think, oh, I don't have to
make a dhor because Abu Bakr, he he
didn't
do I don't have to fast in Ramadan.
That's not what
means.
Abu Bakr did
do all his fault.
And he was a forerunner
in all the and
the optional fasting, and the optional
prayers as well.
One day, the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam was with his companions.
And he said, which one of you are
fasting today?
Oh, Bakr was the only one who said,
I am.
And then the prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,
which one of you followed a,
a funeral?
Abu Bakr radiAllahu anhu was the only one
who said, I did.
Then the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, which
one of you fed a poor person?
Abu Bakr was the only one who said,
I did.
And then the prophet
said, which one of you visited
a sick person?
Ubaka Radiallahu anhu said, I did.
And this was in the early part of
the day that this happened.
And the early part of the day Abu
Bakr radiallahu anhu already
had done this many good deeds.
And then the prophet said,
that these are not combined in a person
on the same day except
that they will enter paradise.
So, yeah, we can't misunderstand
that Abu Bakr did not do a lot
of salah
or a lot of fasting
as we see this hadith. He was a
forerunner in the optional deeds.
But what is meant here
is that
whatever
extra deeds that Abu Bakr radhiallahu anhu
did do,
he did it with something that was inculcated
in his heart
such that it weighed much more
than if someone else were to do a
lot of salah and a lot of fasting
and they did not have that quality
in their hearts,
or that degree
of that quality in their hearts.
And that is
the thing that was inculcated in his heart
was his sincerity,
his certainty,
his faith
such that if he made 2 rakah of
salah,
and if the whole
made 2 rakah
of salah,
the quality of our
of the 2 rakah
would be greater than the whole,
every single individual put together. Can you imagine
that?
Said,
said
that if the iman of Abu Bakr, the
faith of Abu Bakr were to be weighed
And compared to the faith of all of
people put together,
the iman of Abu Bakr would be would
outweigh that, would be heavier.
So we see this amazing
and certainty,
which caused his deeds to be valued more.
So how can we acquire
or increase
our certainty?
Comes in degrees.
How can we increase how we obtain? We
all have
because we're Muslims. But how can we make
it stronger?
Allah gives us
the method.
He mentions in the
So this man passes by and he looks
at the town and he says,
how can Allah ever bring this town to
life? People have left the town. It's abandoned.
It's in it's in ruins.
How can anyone bring this? How can Allah
bring this town back to life?
So Allah
caused him to die
for 100 years.
Then he raised him.
Then he made him look at himself.
He thought he was gone for a day
or 2, but then was told he was
gone for a 100 years.
Then Allah told him,
look at your
look at your food and your.
It hasn't changed.
Look at your food and drink. It hasn't
changed.
Look at your donkey
that is now being reformed.
The flesh is going on the bones and
then right in front of you, your donkey
that was ruined is now being
built again.
And at the end he says,
He says, now I know
that Allah
is able over all things.
But what's interesting here is the man doubted
that the town could come back to life.
Allah could have said
or could have done,
he could have made the town come back
to life by allowing people to come in
and make it
bustling and full of life and say, look,
the town can come back to life. But
Allah did not do that.
He made the person himself die for a
100 years
and then rise.
So the person was able to see the
signs of Allah's ability within himself.
And then Allah pointed him to his surroundings.
Look at your donkey.
Look at the food and the drink that's
been there for 100 years that hasn't changed.
Look at that donkey that's coming back to
life.
So the message that we have here is
if we want to increase our
sometimes you wanna look everywhere, how can we
increase our
our certainty,
our conviction.
The method that that Allah is telling us
here is you don't have to look far,
just
look at yourself.
So Allah made this person die and made
him rise and made him a sign for
himself and a sign for ourselves.
So the method that Allah is telling us
is look at our bodies
and look at our surroundings
like he was told to look at the
food, the drink, and the donkey around him.
And this is the message that Allah mentions
in the Quran.
That on the earth there are signs for
those who are certain.
Allah is telling us to look at our
surroundings,
to increase our certainty.
And then there are signs within ourselves,
do we not see?
It's interesting that Allah said, do we not
see? Because this is empirical data.
The signs within ourselves,
our nervous system,
our digestive system,
our respiratory system, our excretory system,
on a molecular level, on a quantum level,
the unseen
aspects of our bodies.
We are bodies that walk, that are filled
with signs that will allow us if we
analyze
and study,
will allow us to increase our certainty.
And then if we look at our surroundings,
our geography,
the topography,
the plant life,
the celestial objects,
we can only come to one conclusion,
and that will increase our certainty and conviction,
and that is
Allah is the only one worthy of worship.
And so the poet said,
That in everything, there is a sign
that points to one fact
that Allah is the only one worthy of
worship.
So a believer is someone who's constantly engaged
in increasing his certainty, his.
A believer is one
who has conviction and certainty and doesn't get
thrown off.
And
because of one thick ruling that he or
she doesn't understand and say, oh, I have
to now doubt Islam because this thick ruling
doesn't seem
legit to me.
But a believer like Abu Bakr radhiallahu anhu
that if Allah and His messenger
revealed that, legislated that, it's the truth, it's
just.
That level of certainty
is the character of a believer.
When a believer is then at peace,
has serenity because of this
certainty.
And doubt, which is the absence of this
certainty,
causes the person
to waiver,
to live
a life of hesitation,
to have anxiety,
and a host of mental
and emotional problems.
And so the believer takes this certainty
and applies it in all acts of worship,
and this is why the prophet Muhammad
alaihi wasallam said,
When you make dua, when you supplicate to
Allah,
do it in a state
where you are certain
of the response.
So as believers, certainty,
which comes through knowledge
and analyzing the signs that Allah has given
us
is a character
of our lives.
Said, if I were to see paradise
and the hellfire
with my own two eyes,
it would not increase me in certainty.
Imagine that?
Imagine
if we were to see angels,
if we got a glimpse of paradise and
hellfire, how much our
would increase?
Ali
was saying that I would see the unseen.
It would not increase my certainty
because
I saw
paradise in the * fire through
the eyes of the messenger of Allah
When Allah said about him,
that his eyes did not wander
nor did his eyes overreach
when Allah took him up to the heavens
to see the wonders.
So for Ali Radiallahu,
the Quran
was enough
as a premise to build yaqeen and certainty.
The words of the prophet Muhammad salallahu alaihi
wasalam, if he said he saw paradise, that's
enough. I don't have to see it for
myself.
That's enough of a premise for me
to build my
conviction
in the unseen.
And so my dear brothers and sisters, for
us to remove doubts,
the Quran is the go to
book
to remove doubts, and that's why it begins
by saying
This is the book where there is no
doubt.
Not only it is a book that where
there is no doubt, but it is a
doubt remover.
So if we want stronger
and we complain about weak man and not
having strong,
the more we are attached with the Quran,
the stronger our certainty will be will be.
For many reasons, and I'll give you a
few today in in
while I
close. The first is that the Quran
repels Shayatin, and that's why Shayatin is called
the shaitan is called.
Alright. Means
someone who comes and hides, comes and hides,
comes and hides. Why is shaitan constantly hiding?
Because every time the Quran is recited, shaitan
goes and hides.
Doubts come from that source, which is shaitan.
So if you're reciting the book of Allah
a lot, you're decreasing the influence of shaitan,
your doubts will decrease, which means your certainty
will increase.
So when you're reciting the Quran, shaitan will
flee. When you're making,
remembering Allah, shaitan will flee. When the adhan
is recited, the prophet
Muhammad said that shaitan runs.
So the book of Allah 1 repels shaitan.
Number 2, the book of Allah deals with
all
the arguments of doubt.
The book of Allah comes with logical
arguments that refute
the statements
that cause doubt,
the shubuhat,
Specifically, Surah Al An'am,
the 6th chapter
of the Quran.
If you get a chance
to read it in-depth, read it tafsir. There
are amazing statements
which repel
doubts about divinity,
the message,
prophethood,
the hereafter
in a very simple
way.
Where people were asking why weren't angels send
it as messengers, Allah refutes that.
Where people have arguments
for polytheism, Allah refutes that. All of that
in that one surah. So the more we
attach the book of Allah,
the greater
our certainty and will be. And the greater
our certainty will be every
you make, the
you make now, if it's with greater certainty,
it will weigh more
on the day of judgment.
So it makes sense if we're spending time
to make Turaka here, recite Quran.
Let us make it let us make it
weigh more
on the day of judgment
so we can have greater rewards. I ask
Allah to increase our yokeen
in him, in his book, and in his
messenger,
