To everyone.
My dear brothers and sisters,
Allah
wants us to have a good life.
He says, That if someone does good deeds,
whether a male or a female,
and he is, and, and is a believer.
In every command,
in every prohibition in Islam.
And to give one example,
we go back to the time of the
prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
when he was sitting with his companions and
a man came
and said,
I'm destroyed, oh messenger of Allah.
The prophet
said, What happened to you?
And then he said,
that I had marital relations with my wife
while I was fasting.
Then the prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, can
you free a slave?
He said, no.
Then he said, can you fast 2 months
consecutively?
He said, no.
Then he said, can you feed 60 poor
people?
He said, no.
Then the prophet went
and came back with a quantity of dates,
and he gave it to the
man, and he said, give this in charity.
And then the man said,
He said, is there anyone
more poor than me?
There is no one in the whole of
Madinah
that is poorer than my family.
The prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam laughed
and told him, take it and feed your
family.
This man who came to the prophet saying
he was destroyed,
left the prophet Muhammad
while the prophet
was laughing with him.
This man who came to the prophet who
had nothing,
came with a sin,
but he left
with food for his family.
He was so comfortable that he can come
to the prophet
in front of the companions and tell about
his sin
without fearing to be judged.
He was so comfortable that he knew this
was a safe place
where he can get guidance because he did
not know how to
resolve this mistake he did.
My dear brothers and sisters,
Islam
has happiness
deeply rooted in it.
Even to the daily
dealings.
The prophet
said,
said,
that since I became Muslim,
the messenger of Allah
whenever
he saw me,
he smiled at me.
The smile, the happiness
is deeply rooted in Islam.
Some people think that to be righteous,
to be pious,
you have to have a face that is
You have to have a face that is
frowning and pinched.
That you have to be stiff.
You have to be harsh.
You have to be strict.
That is taqwa.
That is so far from the truth.
Because Allah subhanahuja'ala
mentioned that these things
require energy and strength. Some people think that
if I smile it's a sign of weakness.
If I show kindness, it's a sign of
weakness. I have to be firm and strong.
But you know what?
It takes strength
to be kind.
It takes strength
to smile.
It takes strength to forgive others.
And this is why Allah subhanahu
wa'ala
said,
that if one
endures patiently,
and if one forgives,
that is a resolve
to aspire toward.
Allah called it a resolve.
It's something that requires strength and it's powerful
if you can be kind. It's powerful
if you can smile whenever you meet someone.
My dear brothers and sisters,
the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa sallam
emphasized
this point
by saying,
The prophet sallallahu alaihi wasallam said, the most
beloved
action to Allah
is happiness
that you bring about
to a muslim.
This is the most beloved to Allah subhan'ah.
What kind of energy are we putting out
there?
What are we making the people around us
feel?
I should stop myself and think, this comment
that I'm going to make, is it gonna
generate positive energy
or negative energy?
This sour post comment that I'm gonna put
in the WhatsApp chat,
is it gonna be something that's positive?
Or am I gonna sound like I'm whining
and I'm complaining?
What kind of environment does Islam,
in every single command,
in every single prohibition,
wants us to live.
So if we're going on vacation, the bigger
picture is to have a good time
and not to argue about which restaurant we're
going to go to.
Kids, it doesn't matter who called shotgun first.
Doesn't matter where you sit in the car.
The bigger picture is
we're out to have a good time.
It doesn't matter if it was a foul
or not a foul in that game.
We're playing sports so we can have a
good time and bond together.
Sometimes we forget the bigger picture and we
get so boiled down into the fine,
minute things. We forget that Islam
came
to make us happy.
We were sent on this earth
to spread happiness.
So that foul doesn't matter. It doesn't matter
what restaurant we go to. It doesn't matter
where the vacation destination is.
Because the greater picture is that we have
a good time together.
And my dear brothers and sisters,
the Jesus, Son of Mary Center
wants to be that center of happiness
for the larger community.
That happiness emanates from here and
penetrates the Muslim communities.
That positive energy is so immense here
that if negative energy comes, it has no
choice but to convert to positive energy.
And then the prophet
after mentioning
that the most beloved action to Allah
is happiness.
Then he talked about He mentioned examples.
He said, you give clothes to those who
don't have clothes.
You feed those who don't have food.
And you take care of what people need.
These are the essentials,
the bare essentials that we all should take
care of each other so that they can
be happy.
And happiness,
after taking care of the bare essentials,
you can take care of so many other
things beyond that,
like giving foot massages.
That's happiness.
Can you imagine
How beautiful is Islam that if you're giving
a foot massage, you're worshiping Allah
If you're making your brother or sister happy,
you make them smile. You just worshiped Allah
with one of the most
beloved actions to Allah
To the point the Prophet
said,
He said that, I walk with my brother
to help him take care of a need
is more beloved to me
than I make
I seclude myself
for worship in this masjid for one full
month.
And the prophet
didn't say masjid in a masjid.
He said, we have the masjid
in this masjid, meaning al masjid al nabawi,
where each salah is equal to 1,000 salah.
And we know the virtues of that. That
I go and take care of what my
brother needs. It's more beloved to me than
to sit in a masjid than
for a month worshiping Allah, making
reading the Quran, making salawat. Why?
Because that one brother after I take care
of his need will become happy.
The most
beloved action to Allah Subhanahu
My dear brothers and sisters,
happiness is embedded
in our deen.
Let us bring it out of this treasure
and share it with everyone beginning with ourselves.
It's in every command
and every prohibition.
And I will end with this last example.
Fasting
can be challenging.
There is thirst.
There is hunger.
There is sleep deprivation.
There are physical challenges.
Some have it more than others.
We can complain about it and say, oh,
fasting is difficult.
It's
hard. I'm not looking forward to it.
But Allah subhanahu trains us
to squash
that negative energy.
And to focus on
the positive energy
where the prophet
Muhammad
said,
Where the prophet
said, for the fasting person, there are 2
moments of happiness. Forget about the challenges, the
thirst, and the hunger. Focus here.
There are 2 moments of happiness.
One, when he breaks his fast because he
has this moment of accomplishment.
I fulfill this worship of Allah.
I have a good deed locked in the
bag for the akhirah.
And the second moment of happiness is when
he meets his Lord.
Because fasting is that action
that cannot be detracted from all our other
deeds.
Bad deeds can eat away our good deeds.
But fasting is untouchable.
So when he meets his Lord, he sees
that his fasting is preserved.
And not only is it preserved, there's unlimited
rewards that Allah will give for fasting.
So Allah trains us to stop looking at
the negative
sides of things and to look at the
positive sides of things. And if you look,
you will find happiness in every
single thing in Islam.
You will find happiness in every single
event in your life.
You will find happiness in every single
trial and tribulation
if you just look for it. Ask Allah
to make us a community that is built
upon happiness,
that spreads happiness.
Ask Allah
to accept our fast,
and to accept our prayers during the night
and during the day.
I ask Allah to enter all of us
into
without any questioning, without any accountability.
And a reminder that after today, there's a
6 days of fasting, another form of happiness
where you get
one full year of reward.
Give us a few moments.
This room will be converted into a game
room so you can enjoy Eid
and also taste some more happiness.
