Hello welcome to the lower Salatu was Salam ala Rasulillah on annual

00:00:11 --> 00:00:14

Savio manual and over the one on the quality level on the hello and

00:00:14 --> 00:00:18

upwards below and a hollowing upwards he led me and handed him a

00:00:18 --> 00:00:21

lead he had done any other oh my goodness Nina 30 and older and

00:00:21 --> 00:00:25

then a lot hungry named Eddie manana you know Anna Lena Vinny

00:00:25 --> 00:00:29

I'm in LA to Abdullah Hassan Hamdulillah he hadn't fallen

00:00:29 --> 00:00:33

summit and let the lamb Yeah Did one of you that want me a condom

00:00:33 --> 00:00:37

will cook one. And hamdulillah him NaVi Kasana we Heidi Kitabi owns

00:00:37 --> 00:00:42

it. Are we hiring to begin or sell Mohammed in salatu salam ala de la

00:00:42 --> 00:00:45

masala wa sallim wa barik ala even a wedding are suddenly were

00:00:45 --> 00:00:48

suddenly methodically even a hurry, or something was suddenly

00:00:48 --> 00:00:51

methodical they even manner in Allah idioma de

00:00:52 --> 00:00:55

Baraka, la vie comes Aquila, his sexuality for having me

00:00:56 --> 00:00:59

in sha Allah just in the brief moments that we have before solo

00:00:59 --> 00:01:04

today shot I wanted to share with you a hadith that is commonly

00:01:04 --> 00:01:07

referenced with regards to the month of Ramadan.

00:01:08 --> 00:01:13

And all too often this hadith goes unnoticed or really unappreciated.

00:01:15 --> 00:01:17

It's a hadith where the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam says

00:01:18 --> 00:01:25

letters L. O Murthy be hiring or Allah hiring ma general faith.

00:01:26 --> 00:01:31

The Prophet sallallaahu Selim says that my ummah will be in a good

00:01:31 --> 00:01:37

state, as long as they break their fast immediately at metric time.

00:01:38 --> 00:01:42

Right so everyone understand that hadith, the prophesy. centum says

00:01:42 --> 00:01:47

that my ummah will be in a good state, as long as they break their

00:01:47 --> 00:01:49

fast immediately a measure of time.

00:01:50 --> 00:01:54

Now for me this hadith has always been growing up one of these

00:01:54 --> 00:01:58

Hadith where I say as long as a Saudi almost looks at it, and I

00:01:58 --> 00:02:02

believe it but why, what's what's the wisdom behind why the prophets

00:02:02 --> 00:02:06

lie Selim would say that we will be in a good state as an ummah, if

00:02:06 --> 00:02:08

we break our fast on time.

00:02:09 --> 00:02:12

To appreciate this hadith, you have to appreciate the backstory.

00:02:13 --> 00:02:17

And that is a lost count. Allah says in surah baqarah katiba Alec

00:02:17 --> 00:02:20

Newseum, can I put you back under Medina, amicably come by that fast

00:02:20 --> 00:02:25

has been prescribed upon you, as it was prescribed upon those who

00:02:25 --> 00:02:30

preceded you. So the nations that preceded us, they had fast

00:02:30 --> 00:02:34

prescribed upon the Jews and the Christians and so on.

00:02:35 --> 00:02:37

But what was their treatment of the fast

00:02:38 --> 00:02:43

initially, they fasted properly as Allah ordained and commanded them

00:02:43 --> 00:02:48

to do so. But with time, and with human intervention, they start to

00:02:48 --> 00:02:52

veer off. So instead of breaking it on time, they would extend it

00:02:52 --> 00:02:57

half an hour, an hour, two hours, they wouldn't even break it that

00:02:57 --> 00:03:01

night. And it continued to evolve and evolve and evolve until what

00:03:01 --> 00:03:04

you have today. So those of you who know people who for example,

00:03:04 --> 00:03:08

fast and Lent, what is that fast look like? So no longer used to be

00:03:08 --> 00:03:13

that you fast from meats or fast from dairy or fast from this. Now

00:03:13 --> 00:03:16

it's like a New Year's resolution you choose to see what you're

00:03:16 --> 00:03:19

going to fast from so they will come and ask you what are you

00:03:19 --> 00:03:21

going to fast from this year and say, I'm going to fast from saying

00:03:21 --> 00:03:26

this bad word. It's a personal choice. So the prophets of Allah

00:03:26 --> 00:03:30

Hi, my name is Salim is saying, beware of that. And you will be in

00:03:30 --> 00:03:36

a good state as an OMA, if you fulfill the divine dictates as

00:03:36 --> 00:03:42

they were commanded. But if you begin to incur into your religious

00:03:42 --> 00:03:47

practice your own whims and your desires, then you will enter into

00:03:47 --> 00:03:50

a destructive destructive state. And you will veer completely off

00:03:50 --> 00:03:54

the path of Allah subhanaw taala. And this message brothers and

00:03:54 --> 00:03:57

sisters, this hadith is ever more critical and prevalent in our

00:03:57 --> 00:04:02

moment and day to day, right. We live in a society where we live

00:04:02 --> 00:04:08

very much within a secular liberal paradigm, where the subjective and

00:04:08 --> 00:04:12

one's whims and desires is what dictates what we will do. For

00:04:12 --> 00:04:16

those of you who've been following the gender and race conversation

00:04:16 --> 00:04:22

over the past month, you will see how arbitrary now within this

00:04:22 --> 00:04:26

secular liberal paradigm, the discourse has become, what a

00:04:26 --> 00:04:30

gender is, and who a male and a female is, has become remarkably

00:04:30 --> 00:04:33

arbitrary. I find this conversation truly fascinating,

00:04:33 --> 00:04:38

right? Because you have now feminists and homosexuals and

00:04:38 --> 00:04:44

people all across the spectrum, debating arduously what gender is,

00:04:44 --> 00:04:47

but there's no clearly defined lines, it's remarkably arbitrary.

00:04:48 --> 00:04:51

And so this really is the manifestation of the human being,

00:04:52 --> 00:04:57

defining for him or herself what is and what is not. And so as

00:04:57 --> 00:04:59

Muslims, especially in the month of Ramadan,

00:05:00 --> 00:05:04

Our sense of servitude everybody should become heightened. And

00:05:04 --> 00:05:07

that's why Allah Subhana Allah says katiba Like Newseum, equity

00:05:07 --> 00:05:13

by Allah, Latina and publikum le Allah Contacta Khun, this month is

00:05:13 --> 00:05:17

a month of God consciousness, because everything about cm is

00:05:17 --> 00:05:21

clearly defined by Allah subhanaw taala. When we enter into this

00:05:21 --> 00:05:27

month, when we cite the moon, when we start our fast when we break

00:05:27 --> 00:05:31

our fast, how we pray, and so on and so forth, clearly defined by

00:05:31 --> 00:05:34

the Creator. But if we begin to meddle in Allah subhanaw taala

00:05:34 --> 00:05:39

affairs, that's what leads to our destruction as a people. So the

00:05:39 --> 00:05:42

prophets, Allah makes it very simple, you will be in a good

00:05:42 --> 00:05:48

state, as long as you break your fast on time, meaning you fulfill

00:05:48 --> 00:05:54

all of the Divine dictates, as he Allah Jalla Janella defined. And

00:05:54 --> 00:05:57

so the reason why this increasingly becomes critical

00:05:57 --> 00:06:01

brothers and sisters, is that today, a lot of people struggle

00:06:02 --> 00:06:07

with issues of gender, with issues of orientation. And there are a

00:06:07 --> 00:06:11

lot of fitten in our societies, people within the Muslim community

00:06:11 --> 00:06:14

and outside of the Muslim community, who are struggling with

00:06:14 --> 00:06:18

their own identities. But as Muslims, it is very simple and

00:06:18 --> 00:06:24

very clear cut. The sole identifier of who we are is our

00:06:24 --> 00:06:29

Islam. I may have been born in this country, I may be ethnically

00:06:29 --> 00:06:34

this or that I may have this orientation or this inclination.

00:06:35 --> 00:06:41

But no matter what I feel, or how my body feels, if my religion

00:06:41 --> 00:06:45

doesn't allow for it, then my religion is what reigns supreme.

00:06:45 --> 00:06:50

Even if I have to suppress certain feelings I have, or certain

00:06:50 --> 00:06:54

inclinations or certain obsessions. As long as Allah

00:06:54 --> 00:06:58

Jenner Janella told us to be a certain way. That's how we are

00:06:58 --> 00:07:03

meant to be. And so brothers and sisters, the key identifier in who

00:07:03 --> 00:07:08

you are is your Islam. Today, the key identifier has become your

00:07:08 --> 00:07:13

sexual orientation, your gender, right, this is who you are. So you

00:07:13 --> 00:07:18

identify yourself as such, that's not what Islam is about. And so

00:07:18 --> 00:07:21

even when coming people, people say, I was born like this, and

00:07:21 --> 00:07:26

this is how I feel, I may go as far as saying, that's fine. But as

00:07:26 --> 00:07:30

long as we believe in a creator and sustainer, who has clearly

00:07:30 --> 00:07:34

defined who we are, then that's what we submit to. So brothers and

00:07:34 --> 00:07:38

sisters, I hope and pray that this month is a month where we can

00:07:38 --> 00:07:43

reconnect to our Creator, and really develop a consciousness of

00:07:43 --> 00:07:47

what Allah subhanaw taala is in our lives, because as our own ama

00:07:47 --> 00:07:51

of Kalam have said, and has an ummah has Santa hula, welcome you

00:07:51 --> 00:07:56

from Aqaba, what is Hassan? What is good, it is Allah subhanaw

00:07:56 --> 00:07:59

taala has designated as being good. And what is kabhi what is

00:07:59 --> 00:08:03

ugly, is what Allah subhanaw taala has designated as being kabhi. So

00:08:03 --> 00:08:08

even if the entirety of the world is saying, brothers, Muslims,

00:08:08 --> 00:08:13

Jews, Christians, this is a good thing we say, but no, we know

00:08:13 --> 00:08:16

what's good Allah subhanaw taala has already designated as being

00:08:16 --> 00:08:20

good or bad. So brothers and sisters, I hope and pray that no

00:08:20 --> 00:08:23

matter how challenging our circumstances become, we are

00:08:23 --> 00:08:28

always able to turn back to Allah subhanaw taala and gain from his

00:08:28 --> 00:08:30

guidance and from his prophets that I send them this are

00:08:30 --> 00:08:34

messengers guidance, what is meant to be good for us? Because one

00:08:34 --> 00:08:38

some what something is very unique and special, about specifically

00:08:38 --> 00:08:41

the month of Ramadan. And something that Allah says in surah

00:08:41 --> 00:08:46

Baqarah, That also goes unnoticed, is towards the end of the verse

00:08:46 --> 00:08:49

where Allah speaks about SHA Ramadan. He says, you read Allah

00:08:49 --> 00:08:53

will be commodious, whenever you read to be Comoros, that Allah

00:08:53 --> 00:08:59

subhanaw taala wants for you ease and he does not want for you

00:08:59 --> 00:09:03

hardship. Now when Allah subhanaw taala says that he wants ease for

00:09:03 --> 00:09:06

you. That settles it, that clearly means he does not want hardship.

00:09:07 --> 00:09:12

But why does Allah emphasize why does he use a Tolkein here to

00:09:12 --> 00:09:17

emphasize that I want ease for you. I do not want hardship. Why

00:09:17 --> 00:09:23

does he do that? Because he knows that his listener has incurred is

00:09:23 --> 00:09:28

doubting what he's saying. See, Allah knows our nature because He

00:09:28 --> 00:09:31

created us and He knows that we doubt our times and we struggle.

00:09:32 --> 00:09:35

We struggle with what Allah has defined for us. We struggle with

00:09:35 --> 00:09:39

what Allah subhanaw taala has clearly delineated for us. But he

00:09:39 --> 00:09:44

says I know full well that everything I have commanded you to

00:09:44 --> 00:09:48

do is for your benefit. Not only that, but with everything I have

00:09:48 --> 00:09:52

commanded you to do. I want goodness for you. I want ease for

00:09:52 --> 00:09:56

you. I don't want hardship. So people may tell you, Oh, this is

00:09:56 --> 00:09:59

hard. This fast business all day is hard work.

00:10:00 --> 00:10:04

airing your hijab is hard, not doing what your best your desires

00:10:04 --> 00:10:08

tell you to do is hard. But when Allah says no, no, no, no, it's

00:10:08 --> 00:10:13

easy. That's where we find our confidence. Because the neffs

00:10:13 --> 00:10:18

brothers and sisters, the nest was never meant to define for us what

00:10:18 --> 00:10:21

is wholesome and good on this earth. The nest is connected to

00:10:21 --> 00:10:24

the dirt, it's connected to this earth, but the rule is what's

00:10:24 --> 00:10:28

connected to Allah subhanaw taala. So when the source of law has

00:10:28 --> 00:10:31

telling you what's good for you, that's what you submit to you. And

00:10:31 --> 00:10:35

that's what you connect to. So ask Allah subhanaw taala to bless us

00:10:35 --> 00:10:39

in this month of Ramadan with a connectedness to him and the our

00:10:39 --> 00:10:43

souls truly connect to our creator in a way that overwhelms our

00:10:43 --> 00:10:47

material side. overwhelms our neffs overwhelms our beastial

00:10:47 --> 00:10:50

desires and inclinations. May Allah subhanaw taala protect our

00:10:50 --> 00:10:54

iman and our Islam. May He make beautified in our hearts our Eman

00:10:54 --> 00:10:58

in Islam and he make hate it to our hearts go for and forsook and

00:10:58 --> 00:11:03

ASEAN was Sunday love Amara so you're gonna Muhammad that one and

00:11:03 --> 00:11:04

then hamdu Lillahi Rabbil Alameen
