Shadee Elmasry – The original layout of Prophet’s mosque and the City of Madina

The message of the Prophet was rectangular like this, there were

entrances on all on these two sides, but on this side right

here, were apartments built for the family of the messenger

sallallahu alayhi wasallam. He lived attached to the mosque,

okay, which was rectangular in shape, and all throughout Islamic

history, all of wherever the Muslims went, they they only knew

one example. So they mimicked Medina and that they would put

the, the general would live on the side of the masjid right here,

right attached to the masjid. And his he would lead from there, all

the activity would happen inside the masjid around the masjid would

be the marketplace, the soup, okay, and then the homes would be

after that. So sort of like a zone one and zone two. Alright, like

London has these zones, right? So the first zone was a small little

area around the masjid where the leader lived, okay, and he from

there he operated that was his area of command. And this was also

the center where everyone gathered the community. And then you had

zone two would be like the marketplace. Alright, and then

zone three would be like where all the people lived.
