Dear brothers and sisters, Assalamu alaykum Warahmatullahi wa
barakatuh.

The Companions of Rasulillahi sallallahu alayhi wasallam
who has less
famous,
less knowing for
people.
And tonight inshallah,

Oughtbaibnu
Hazwan.
Sayyiduna Oughtbaibnu
Hazwan,
he is the son of Hazwan, ibn Jabir,
ibn Uhayb
al Masini.
And he was
number 7th
to accept Islam to become a Muslim.
He was the 7th
of
the list of Muslims
in early Islam,
and he
migrated to Ethiopia,
Hajarah al Habashah,
Thumma Hajarah al Madinah,
then he migrated
to Yathrib, to holy city of prophet Muhammad.
He narrated
some hadith
from prophet Muhammad
and Abu Dujana.
You know, he was the brother of Sayyiduna
Abu Dujana
or in the brotherhood
that the prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam
started
when he migrated
into Madinah.
And
He witnessed
all the battles with the prophet Muhammad
sallallahu alaihi sallam. He never missed
a single battle with Rasulillahi
sallallahu alaihi wa sallam. He witnessed Badr and
Uhud and Ahazab and Mu'ata,
all the battles, even
the battles of Yamana
after prophet Muhammad
passed away.
And he,
joined the army of Muslims
where for,
conquered Iraq,
Iraq, Sharaka,
Al Muslimina
Iraq,
and he was the leader to conquer
Al Abullah,
where Al Abullah, which is a city
in Al Iraq
near to Al Basra,
on the river of Dijla,
which is very
beautiful city,
and it was a big,
fortress,
for the enemies, for,
Pergian,
armies.
He got the news that,
Persian armies,
are so difficult for Muslims to,
feed them or to
win over them. And
he was so worry
because
most of the companions, they already
outside,
defending the religion of Allah, spreading the message
of Islam
everywhere,
and only few companions left,
behind in Al Madinah.
And Sayidna Umar was worried a lot who's
the the one he can trust
to send,
for the army, Muslim army to conquer
Al Ubillah,
which is the city in Al Iraq.
And while he was sleeping thinking about
the companions,
who's in in presence in the Medina,
they they able to go to conquer al
Ubillah,
and the name of Sayyiduna
A'utba,
ibn Hazwan, came to Sayyiduna
Umar ibn Khattab
And he said, yeah. This is the one
that I was looking for.
You know? Because,
You know, he said to himself,
this is the one that I was looking
for for
him because Badr,
knows him and Uhud knows him. Al Khandaq
knows him. And
all the battles of Rasulullah
know, Sayyiduna Utba.
He was,
a scaled
archers.
And Sayyidina Umar, he sent,
for him and he came,
to Sayyidina Umar and Sayyidina Umar told him,
I will assign you as a leader, as
a as a commander,
as a captain
for the army
to go to Al Ubula and to conquer
Al Ubula, to open it because
the the this city has a lot of
influence,
for the Persian
armies.
They took a lot of fund and a
lot of help from this,
city.
And Sayidina Omar wants to stop
any,
supplies
goes to,
Persian,
armies.
And he assigned
for for him 300
and,
few fighters.
When you remember the number,
it's similar with the number that prophet Muhammad
had in the battle of Badj.
300 companions
and,
some,
few companions.
And this is exact number
or similar with the same number. And Sayyidina
Umar told Sayyidina Aoutba, go first, and I
will
send another,
people to support you later on. And Sayiduna,
Omar, he told,
Sayiduna Utba,
Othba,
you know,
I I I will send you to the
people of Al Ubula,
and
and this is the,
a clear fortress
for
Perjian armies
or for
for our enemies.
And fear Allah, Subhanahu wa ta'ala, call them
out,
invite them to Islam. If they accept from
you, no harm. Live with them
as as a brothers and,
and fear Allah
and don't look at the duniya matters.
Look at the word from Allah
And
his wife
went with him, the wife of Sayyidina Ootba,
Ibn Ghazwan,
and the other sisters,
the wives of other fighters
within his army.
And he did amazing,
technique.
You know? He has only 300
fighters,
and Sayid Omar sent him to open Al
Ubula, which is the very strong
city,
helping
the Persian armies
and the the the
armies
in in Persian. It's very strong and a
lot a lot of 1,000,
but he was so smart.
Then this is when Allah
granted you with
a good way of life.
You have to increase
the knowledge Allah
gave you and use it
in good way to benefit yourself and to
benefit your society,
to benefit the people around you. And Sayeduna
Othba, he was very smart.
He told his wife and the other ladies
with her,
you know, stay behind us. And he gave
them, you know, a lot of banners,
you like like the flags.
And they they they he told them, stay
behind the army,
Muslim's army,
and try to take the dust and throw
it up,
to make, like,
smoke or, like, some,
dust behind the army
to
to,
deceive the enemies that the the army of
Muslim means it's a huge
army
or a big number. And, actually, they only
300 fighters and some some,
extra.
It's not even 400
people.
And this is what the the plan that
he had, and he told his wife and

and raise the banners and raise the flags

conquered the the city, Al Ubillah, and he

and he felt that the people really
changed their mind and just they
they took the easy life, and they used
to to work hard in Madinah, and and
there is, there is,
no a lot
of easiness in Madinah. It's very tough
place comparing with the
in Iraq,
near to the river, near to the water.
A lot of guardians, a lot of
fruits, a lot of,
a lot of
from Allah
a lot of bounties.
And he didn't find and he didn't feel
comfortable to stay longer in this environment, and
he choose to go back to Madinah,
and he assigned
a leader for the army. And by the
way, he
designed the city of al Basra. If you
search the city of al Basra today in
Al Iraq, Sayyir Na'utba ibn Ghazwan, he he
is the engineer
that designed the al Basra by himself,
and he did the instruction
for the whole city of al Basra
instead of the city of al Ubula.
Because al Basra, it's far away from al
Ubula, few miles, and he just to to,
raise
the the the city of Al Ubulla and
to create the new city belongs to Muslims,
which is the city of Al Basra, and
Al Basra
today is the the 3rd biggest
city in Al Iraq.
And after that, he returned back to Al
Madina,
and he asked Sayeduna Omar to execute
him from the responsibility
to be a leader, to be a commander.
But when we look at ourselves today, if
anyone has a chance
to be a leader or to be in
charge, people will jump just to take the
to take the responsibility
to show off on front of people. If
they are looking for the rewards from Allah,
it doesn't matter if you work in
ahead of the people or in the in
the in the back of the army. It
doesn't matter because we only have one intention
to be pleased with Allah.
And this is what we need to learn
from.
He, conquered
in the same year that he passed away,
which is 17 years after the hijrah of
Rasulillahi
and when he came back to Al Madina
and he asked Sayidna Umar, could you excuse
me from the responsibility that you gave me?
And Sayidna Umar refused. He said no.
I cannot trust anyone
to have the position that I gave you.
And he commanded Sayyidina Uthba to go back
again to
or to Al Iraq,
and he did supplication.
He asked
Allah and he said,
Oh, Allah, do not return me back
to Al Basra or to Al Ubillah,
and Allah accepted
his supplication.
Before he came to Al Madinah,
he did a very good speech
for the people for Muslims
who stay in
or in Al Basra, and he told them,
indeed, our temporary life almost to end
and to move away from us.
And you will go to another,
place,
permanent place,
which is the the the the paradise
in hereafter.
And you are able to move to the
other life, which is hereafter
with the goodness that you
have done in your life.
He's talking about himself now. You know, if
you look at me, I was the number
7 that who accept he accepted Islam
and he explained,
And we did not have a food in
that time
except the leaves of the trees.
And he tried to remind people, don't get
into the worldly life deep like this. Don't
forget the hereafter and just, you know, when
you look at people today and you you
give them a a chance
to choose between,
temporary life or the eternal life,
most of them, they will choose the temporary
life. They will say, just give me a
chance to live a good life here, and
when we die, you know, we will figure
out how it will work out.
No. We have to to understand
that our life today is temporary life. It's
not eternal life. Our real life, it will
be there
in paradise
when we return back to our
home, own home, which is the paradise
that,
our forefather Adam was there. And may Allah
gathered all of us with our beloved prophet
Muhammad in
hereafter in highest level in paradise.
Now when he did supplication to Allah, oh,
Allah, I don't like to go back again
because it's only, you know, people working for
the worldly life. I would love to work
for hereafter,
And Allah accepted his supplication
and his camel,
you know, just,
fell down and he
dropped from his camel and he passed away.
Few miles away from Madinah.
Just he left the Madinah and he wasn't
agreed to go back to, Al Ubillah again
or to Al Basra and to have very
luxury life, and he he doesn't like that.
And he asked Allah,
oh, Allah, do not take me
back. And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala took his
soul out of his body and,
17 years
after the migration of prophet Muhammad
in the time of Sayyidina Umar ibn Khattab
when he was Khalifa,
and this is what we learn about our
hero tonight,
Sayyidina Othba Ibnu Ghazwan
And
our
our question for tonight,
just I would like for my brothers and
sister, especially
the young men and women, please,
you know,
take care of this knowledge,
you know,
to to help yourself out,
to imitate the companions of Rasulullah
and
to to be in the safe side when
you when you have a good intention and
a good work, you will be in the
safe side.
Our question tonight
is
what
the unique tactic that
did to conquer
or
to conquer the city,
for,
Persia, the city
for,
Pergian
armies,
which is
near to
the river of Digila.
He did
a wonderful
plan
to
deceive
the enemies that his army it's a huge
army. It's very big army.
Actually, it wasn't big. It was only 300
or 400

They they arrived their ships,
from the river of Dijla, and they run
away. And they enter into the city without
fighting, without
a single drop of blood. And this is,
to tell
that Muslims
are smart. And if they have a chance
to serve their society and their community,
no one can compete with them. And this
is what we,
need to be proud of
our our brothers and sisters
in Islam. May Allah
help all of us out
to to do good and to stay firm
in our religion, to imitate our beloved prophet
Muhammad
and his companions,
