Our lecture tonight
about
the
the meaning of Surat Al Qavirun,
the chapter
of Disbelievers.
We were talking last
week about
Surat al Nasr,
the the victory of Allah or Allah's help.
And today,
we will continue
with the Surat
al Nasr
and Surat al Kafirun
because
there is
connection between Surat Al Nasr
and Surat Al Kafir,
but we will
learn about the connection
in the end of the lecture
today. Just
to start with the Surat Al Kafirun.
Kafirun
disbelievers,
and this is,
it was from
the chapters that Allah revealed
in early
time of Islam.
When prophet Muhammad
was in Mecca
and the people of Quraish,
when they figured out
that prophet Muhammad, sallallahu alaihi wasallam,
he's doing
great job,
and he attracting
a lot of people
to accept his religion,
and they cannot stop him. They tried to
to stop him with all the means,
but they couldn't.
And they had a meeting,
and they
were
discussing
how to stop Mohammed
And when we see somebody,
you know,
conveying the message of Islam
and he is strong in his religion,
you will find a lot of people try
to
to convince him or try to to make
him down
in different way,
openly or secretly,
in direct way or
in
in in directly way.
*,
when we have some
Muslims,
they are,
successful
in their life,
and
they were shipping Allah
sincerely, and they don't care about anyone except
Allah and their religion,
you will find
the enemies of Islam.
They will
make them down.
They will try to
assign them
or take them in their side.
If they disagree,
they will fight against them. They will do
something
against them. And this is what happened
with prophet Muhammad
In the beginning, and we were talking about,
his life, peace be upon him, for the
lecture of the sera,
that the people of Quraysh,
they told
him, if you're really
looking
to have more money than any one of
us,
we will collect
from our wealth to make you the most
rich person.
If you are looking to have a good
position
among us, we promise you we will not
do any decision
unless if you say
your own opinion first.
And
if you would like to
just they're trying to make
any way
to convince prophet Muhammad.
Even they said,
if you have
some illness or some sickness
from jail,
we will call out all
the people. They they know about about this
disease, and they will cure you.
But prophet
Muhammad respond back to them,
no.
This is my way,
and this is my religion.
I will never change my my
my opinion, and it will never change my,
way of life
or my
mind.
And
literally
or later on,
they figured out other solution.
They said,
we will convince Mohammed,
sallallahu alaihi wasallam.
And they called for a meeting, and they
said, oh, Mohammed,
you know, we have to to find solution.
We are living in the same town. We
are living in the same place. We have
to work
together, and
we have a solution.
And the prophet Muhammad,
you know,
his way to listen this and this is
also the way of Quran.
You know? Listen to
more than what you when you
more than what
you speak.
Just listen
and understand
what the people telling you.
And Prophet Muhammad
just
he is a good listener,
and he said,
it will be a good idea
if
we worship your your god
for 1 year,
and you will worship our god
in the following year.
What do you think
if we have
the interfaith
groups
and it said, Let us worship Allah together?
You know, we we will celebrate
our relationship.
All of us belongs to Allah. All of
us worshiping
Allah
Let us do it.
You will worship our our
gods,
and we will worship your God.
What do you think, brothers?
Is it okay? You know,
let us
really
help one another and and support one another
and make it easy. Why we really make
it difficult for ourselves
and other people around us?
And the Prophet Muhammad
he
was thinking
just to agree with this opinion
for a while.
Why? To say
it let them try,
you know, to worship
Allah
It might be a good step for them
to soften their hearts,
and
when they
really test
the the sweetness of faith,
they might continue
later on.
It's a good it's a good point
or good
approach,
but Allah
did not did not give our beloved prophet
Muhammad
chance
to think or to respond back to them.
Allah revealed
the Surah that we have today.
Say, O Muhammad,
to those
people, O
disbelievers.
And
when Allah
mentioned
Al Kafirun,
it's different than when you say,
You ayu al ladin al kaf'ul,
or You ayu al naz.
When Allah
says, Ainho al kafiy'ul,
all
disbelievers,
It's different than, oh,
mankind
or
You aYuhal Nadine kafar.
In English, there is no different in translation,
but in Arabic, it's a huge difference.
Because when Allah says,
He's talking about
their
their their actions,
themselves.
But if he says, he's
talking about their actions
and the huge difference.
When the person believe
a certain way,
it will be hard to change his belief
because
he's confirming
himself
to do a certain way of life.
This is why Allah says,
Allah
wants to give to give the clear message
to differentiate
between
faith, iman,
and kuf,
disbelief.
There is
a huge
difference
between these two ways,
And this is why Allah
created
heaven
and and
and hellfire. Why Allah created paradise and *
hellfire?
You know? Because some people will go to
paradise. May Allah make all of us a
man with death. And some other people will
go to Hilfa'at,
out of Allah's justice.
And
we have to differentiate between iman and kufr,
the faith
and disbelief.
It's not,
you know, let us do it together.
Yeah. We will we will learn, and this
is really very, very amazing
surah,
a very amazing chapter
for us, especially who lives
in non Muslim countries,
to learn and to understand
how to deal with the people around you.
We're not saying to fight and to to
to kill. No. No. No. No. No. This
is not this is not our way.
You know, we need to
to live with other people around us, but
with
the the way that Allah
taught us in this chapter, the chapter of
Al Kafirud.
When the people of Quraysh asked prophet Muhammad,
you know, it will be a great idea
if you
worship our idols 1 year, and we will
worship your your Lord
in the following year.
And Allah revealed it and said, It's not
it's not
good idea at all, and it will not
work out.
And before we we get into the deep
meaning of the chapter,
just I I forgot to mention
the significance of this chapter
or the importance
or the virtues of
Surah Al Khafir.
If you notice,
which is the the hadith that prophet Muhammad
said,
Imam Muslim narrated
this hadith at Sayyidina Jabir,
When we when we gather all
the ahadith
or all the actions of Rasulullah sallam
about Surat Al Kafirun,
we will be amazed
because in Nabi SAWSALAM,
he recited Al Kafirun
in the in the rakatay tawaf.
When you finish tawaf,
circling around the Kaaba
and 7 times, and you will pray. It's
highly commanded. It's not it's not from
the, but this is highly commanded
to do 2 rakah
behind Maqar Ibrahim,
behind the station
that Ibrahim, alayhi, salam,
used to stand
to build the Ka'at.
And this is the Surah. To Saab al
Alaik Adaihi, Halifa Maqar Ibrahim.
What is the recommended
surah you recite in these 2 rakah?
Who knows?
In the first rakah and the second
Also, prophet Muhammad used to recite Surat Al
Kafirun and Surat Al Ikhlas. It's not the
obligatory
prayer,
the recommended
prayer
before
salatuljamah.
Also to recite Surid
Al Kafirun in the first Ruq'a and Surid
Al Akhlas in the second Ruq'a.
What else?
Salat al Widdr.
You know, al Widdr, which is the odd
prayer in the end of the night,
you know, to recite
in the first
rak'ah, and
in the second rak'ah, and
in the 3rd rak'ah.
Also, and
to testify
that you will not get involved
with the disbelievers
in their belief.
Like Surat Ikhlas,
you know, the the chapter of sincerity,
you know, to
testify there is no one has right to
be worshiped but Allah
and to testify about oneness of Allah
and the attributes of Allah and the lordship
of Allah and
and these two chapters
talking about.
Sincerity. But
one of them ikhlas of
al Amal
and one of them ikhlas
of
You know, Suratil
Al Kafirun
has the sincerity
of
our deeds.
When we do,
when we worship
Allah, we have to worship Allah
alone by Himself,
not to
make partners with Him.
This is the reason,
la Abudu.
I will not
worship
anyone
beside Allah.
And when when when I when I pray,
I have to I have to
pray
in very sincere way,
not to show up.
When when I fast,
the same idea. When I recite Quran, when
I do any Ibadah,
when I do any one's of Allah,
it's supposed to be very sincere
not to to show off on front of
people. I don't need
any appreciation from anyone
except from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
But Surat Al Ikhlas
talking about
one ism of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
to confirm
in the Surat Al Kafirun, I will do
by my actions.
I will not worship anyone with Allah
in my ibadah because
when I pray,
you know, some people, they might pray for
the grave
or for righteous people.
Or even
some people they might,
you know, invoke
or ask somebody else beside Allah
Even prophet Muhammad
It's not allowed to ask prophet Muhammad
something.
You we have to ask only Allah
And this is for for the suya, we
might have some people, they they prefer to
do suya,
you know, out of their health.
It it's not for the sake of Allah
but for the
sake of their health
or their condition.
And this is
why Surat Al Kafirul,
you know, come
all the way with the Surat Al Ikhlaas,
Surat al Samad.
1 of them talking about
Al Aqida,
the oneness of Allah which is Surat Ikhlas,
and the other one talking about
Al Aqlaq,
all ill abaydat,
our actions,
our good deeds.
Just doing we might have some people
to ask the question that I started today.
What's wrong?
Why we have to fight against other each
other?
And
we should come together
and, as a one group,
and worship Allah
together.
What do you think about this
statement?
You know, just
mixing a group
and some
I saw some,
some videos.
There is a lady, and this is other
ish, but just to give you an idea,
a lady,
she led led the prayer,
and behind her, you know,
different gender,
men and women in the same line behind
behind her. It's
some state here. Yeah. They're in Germany. They
build
a they build a message for them. Yes.
They build a mask, and they some of
them of this group here.
And, it's not our topic, but just to
give you an idea
to think deeply
about Surat Al Kahfiroum.
What's wrong?
You know? Everybody will will worship
Allah
in his own way,
and whatever he feel comfortable,
do it
as long as we worship Allah
together.
You know?
Umur ila'al Ibadad, for Umur id Din, the
matters of religion,
we are not allowed to do something from
our sides.
It's forbidden.
It's not allowed.
We have to have the evidence and the
proof
for any action we will do in our
life
related to
our religion.
For example,
when we say, Alhamdulillah,
you know, the night is
too long now, we we are
receiving the the the time for the winter,
and it will be a good idea if
we pray
salat rishah
6 rakah.
It's okay.
Make more word.
What do you think?
Or why we have to pray, madam, the
3 rakah? Make it 4 to have more
word from Allah
No. We cannot do that because
we have to have
evidence
or proof
if we do something in our religion.
But the matters of worldly life,
you know,
it's lawful.
Everything
is lawful
except
whatever Allah
mentioned for us, this is forbidden. You cannot
do it.
Do you understand the difference between the matters
of religion
and the matters
of worldly life?
The matters of religion,
you know,
it's forbidden
unless whatever Allah
make it lawful for us to do it.
And the matter of
worldly life,
you know, it's
lawful,
100%.
Except what Allah
forbid
for us.
For example,
if you have any kind of a drink,
you you can drink it.
It's Haram.
Water,
juice,
liquid,
soup,
whatever.
But Allah
told us
that alcohol
is not
allowing for us to drink.
Now we have to stop.
You know?
Only alcohol or whatever has the the
the same way
to lose
our mind,
it's forbidden. We cannot drink it.
The same idea for food.
Any kind of food is allowed for us
to eat. Any kind.
Except
what Allah
mentioned for us in the Qur'an, or what
Prophet Muhammad
mentioned for us
in his life.
We cannot eat. For example, like blood
or dead animals
or
non slaughtering
animals, it's a dead.
To come back to our
our chapter or our our
verse. Surat al Kafiy'ul,
talking about
our actions
and talking about
our good deeds,
we have to make it
sincerely for the sake of Allah
But Surat Ikhlas
or Surat Ihsamad
talking about Oneness of Allah to testify about
Allah's name, Allah's tribute, testify about Allah's name,
Allah's tribute,
and
the the the the the lordship
for Allah and
Allahu Samad,
You you're saying
I will not
make my Ibadah for anyone
beside
Allah My salah, my zakat,
my siyam, my hat, my
Ibadah.
It's only for the sake of Allah
Is it is it,
clear?
Just to explain
the the question that I asked in the
beginning,
it will be a good idea to come
together, you know, the Jews and the Christians
and the Muslims,
everybody,
even the one who has
no God,
let us go together as a group
to empower each other and
let us live
a very
nice life together.
What you think about that?
There is a a a Jew person
in Baghdad
one time,
long time ago,
and he
he was sneezed
to confuse Muslims in Baghdad. You know, Baghdad,
it was the the place for the caliph
the the Khalifa
for
long time.
And this
person, he came to the masjid of Baghdad,
and he asked people, you
know,
And
he said, yes. Of course.
And he said, Hartuk minunah b'i Isah?
They said, yes. Of course.
Hartuk minunah b'i Muhammad?
What do you think?
Do you believe in Moses?
Yes. Do you believe in Jesus?
Do you believe in Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wa
sallam? Yes. And and he said, you know,
for me, I do believe in Moses,
but I do not believe in Jesus,
and I do not believe in Muhammad,
salallahu alayhi wa sas.
And look how he will how how how
he will play the game,
and let us agree
for
the the the the the point that we
have agreement, all of us together.
And we will excuse
each other
for what we disagree about.
What what that means?
Yes, sir. Let us agree about Moses, all
of us,
and
we will give each other excuse
because we do not believe
in Jesus and Mohammed,
peace be upon them.
And the people were were confused.
What do you think?
Do you understand the point,
or should I repeat it again?
Repeat it again. Repeat it again.
How to understand the people around you?
The people were confused
from the question.
But always Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala will send
somebody,
you know,
the nearest person,
the most knowledgeable.
Even
some sometime,
the people might describe that person as a
crazy person because he will think in different
way than everybody else.
And this is it's good something good for
us, for our community.
When we have different background
and different nationalities,
it it will empower our community because we
will have different way of thinking,
to think in different way than other
nationalities around you.
And that that Muslim, he
came to this Jew
and asked him,
and he said,
omen,
you're talking about Moses,
the
one that prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him,
gave glad tidings about him, all different
Moses.
Do you understand now?
Muhammad
What had Surah?
Should we translate it?
When the the smart Muslims
asked him,
are you talking about the moo Moses,
the one that Muhammad, peace be upon
him, gave him glad tidings about him, or
you're talking about other Moses?
Because if he agree
that Muhammad, peace be upon him, gave glad
tidings to Moses,
you know, he will agree that Muhammad is
prophet.
And And if he said, no, this is
different, Musa,
means,
you know, we have no relation with you.
You're talking about other person, not the prophet
of Allah,
not Moses, the prophet, and the messenger of
Allah.
And
the the Jew, he found
himself in the big
trap
because
either way,
he will lose.
You get it now?
And he said, no, I'm talking about different
Musa. He said, we have no relation with
you. Just go. We are we do believe
in Musa that Muhammad
gave glad tidings about him. That's
it. When he said, I met with my
brother Moses when I was in the journey
night when I when Allah elevated me to
the heaven.
You understand now? There is
a
big connection between all the prophets of Allah
And when he said, no, I'm talking about
different Muslims, listen.
You end the topic already
because you're talking about
a regular person,
and we are talking about Musa alayhi salaam
or Isa
alayhi wa'ala Nabi Nasalaihi wa sallam.
Right?
We have to
be very careful
when we especially when we come to aqidahish,
when we come to oneness of Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala. We have to be very clear
and very
strict,
and we will understand now there is a
huge difference
between when we speak Allah
and
the the the good manners
that Muslims
should have
in his life when he deal with the
people around him.
Should I repeat it again? Because our situation
here, really, it's confusing.
And a lot of Muslims,
they do not differentiate
between
Aqidah Ishu,
one is of Allah, and. Aqidah,
We have to be strict.
We have to be clear
like the Quran told us.
I will not worship
your idols,
and you will not worship
my God.
And Allah repeat it again.
Repeat it to us
to make sure
that,
1, misterq Allah,
we have to be very strict
when we come into this point.
And to be clear,
we should not
deceive anyone about our aqeedah.
We should not
cheat anyone when somebody asks us. We have
to be clear.
We we do not abuse anyone, we do
we do not make anyone down, but we
have to be very clear,
you know. This is your religion.
You have free will
to practice your religion, and I do have
free will too to practice my religion,
you know. We can work together.
We can go in the to the same
job. We can live in the same in
the same,
building, we can
it's okay.
But you have your religion,
and I do have my religion.
Is it clear, brothers and sisters?
When Allah
told to prophet Muhammad
to tell them,
Some people will say,
Why you are very strict, all Muslims?
You have to be open minded.
Just
make easy for yourself and the people
lives
around
you. And just,
I was reading for for,
some scholars.
He they they they give
very a good answer.
For
the one who is agree
just to worship Allah
and other other,
idols,
you know, everybody will will have his own
way to worship
what he believe
and to ask a question.
Are you agree
for somebody or agree with somebody
to share
with you,
your wife?
Answer.
No. Are you agree
for somebody to to come to your house
and just
share your your your wife with you
or to share your your wealth
or to share your house?
And this is
why we disagree with somebody to share
ourselves.
And we agree
when we say
you know,
we're gonna worship Allah together.
Our we're gonna worship,
you know, our Lord and your Lord
in different in different time.
And unfortunately, we might have some Muslims,
they have this way of belief.
They said, why not?
It's okay. All of us related to to
our forefather
Adam or in a specific way, all of
us,
you know, the the
Jews and the Christian and Muslims,
we are related to, you know, the revelations
of Allah.
What do you think?
We are related to revelation of Allah
in our good manners
and good actions,
not in our Haqeedah,
not
in our oneness of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Should I repeat it again?
Muslims
are unique.
But
to deal with the people around you, like
Allah mentioned,
Allah will not
prohibit you.
To have a good relation with the non
Muslims around you,
it's okay.
It's it's it's
it's a a a a a an easy
way for us to live our life
with the peace of mind,
to have
good relation with everybody around you.
But to share
with them
in their way,
how they worship
god.
And this is the the the the the
wrong action.
Yeah. Nothing wrong to go to the church.
Nothing wrong to go to the synagogue.
Nothing
wrong. But the wrong is
to participate
in the way
that they worship
Allah's
mushrikeen
or al kafirun, disbelievers
in Allah,
disbelievers
in
oneness
of Allah, disbelievers in angels,
disbelievers in in the books of Allah,
disbelievers
in the messengers of Allah,
disbelievers
in the day of judgement or the
day of resurrection,
and disbelievers of
Al Qadr,
which is the decree
decree of Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, good or
bad.
Those, Al Qafir, if we have anyone
disbelieve in any
pillar of these 6 pillars of iman,
he will join
disbelievers.
I
worship not
that which you worship.
Our I will not
in future.
I will not
worship
what you worship.
And
nor will you worship
what which I worship.
And
you will not
for future.
And how how prophet Muhammad
told them this because Allah knows
they will not worship.
And even when we were talking
about Surat Al Masad,
Tabatyada
Abi Lahab Al Mutaba.
You know?
Abu Lahab, which is the uncle of prophet
Muhammad
even he can't
say to show up
or even to
To deny what prophet Muhammad told,
to say, I do believe in in Allah,
the Lord of Muhammad,
even if he is a liar.
Just
if he said it,
you know,
subhanAllah,
he will eliminate
the proof that Allah
revealed.
He will enter into hellfire
in the day of judgement.
Did he
said did he say, testify
that he believed in Allah?
Why?
It was easy, just
a word
to say I do believe in Allah,
the Lord of Muhammad.
He wasn't able to say it
because
he will die
as a disbeliever.
And the same idea
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala revealed to prophet Muhammad
It will not happen
in future.
Means
you will stay in your position in Kufr
to disbelieve in Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
I'll repeat it one more time.
It's good.
It could be for your future too.
It could be now and future.
It's
in general.
It's good answer, by the way. Good try.
But what is the specific
answer?
Abudu,
ayabidun.
What is the difference between these two words?
There is fer
and is.
Fernabudu.
Action.
And is
the noun.
And Allah
told the prophet Muhammad by
2 of them,
by the action
or by the noun, I will not do
that.
To make it to make what?
To make sure
there is no hope
from Prophet Muhammad salawasalam's
science
to go back with the mushrikeen
and their idea.
No. It will not happen.
Laa Abudu,
in my action,
I will not do that.
And
both of them to confirm
there is no hope
for Mushrikeen
to get with prophet Muhammad in
the same time to worship
the same god.
And when he's when he talking about Ibadah,
is Ibadah
related to good manners
or related to oneness of Allah?
Oneness of Allah.
And this is the the point. There is
a huge difference
between
Do you understand?
In the past
and in the present
and in future
and in the action,
and in the known.
Upper teeth or the front teeth, it's not
strong
like molar teeth.
When you bite by the molar teeth, you
know,
you will not let it go.
And this is the idea. We have to
understand.
We recite the Surah so many times every
day,
but unfortunately,
we do not understand
the meaning
of this chapter.
Really, I wish
to have you know,
the Masjid will be full
on on the the verses of Seer on
on Thursday
because
these chapters,
it's very important for us because this is
the early
revelations
to Prophet Muhammad
when he was living with the
disbelievers
around him or non Muslims around him.
It's the similar with our situation today,
dissimilar with our environment today,
and we really need to study. We need
to understand
in deep knowledge
how to
practice
the Quran that Allah reveal
revealed for up to
us through these chapters,
which is the the the the Quran was
revealed in Mecca,
Sur Al Makkiyyah.
And you will not worship
my lord.
And he made the statement in the end.
It's
Yours,
it's Your way
of life,
and this is My way
of my life. And this is Hazha Youariqul
Khahuqul Khariyah
He did not attack them.
He did not bother them.
He did not insult them.
It's okay. If you agree with with any
way of life, it's okay.
Do it.
But
you should not force me
to follow you,
and I should not
force you to follow me. We have other
verse,
laigraha
fiddeen.
It's not allowed for anyone
to
force others to follow
his religion.
Just we
have right,
all of us, we have the equal right
to live
and to have free will
in this life.
But about the belief,
it's not
belongs to us.
It belongs to Allah
And He assigned
a certain day
called the Day of
Judgment.
He will judge between
everybody.
It's not our job.
Nahnu Du'a,
walasna udaha.
You
know, we are calling
other people, we are
conveying
the message of Islam,
and we are not judges.
That I I I think the Isha time
Yeah. SubhanAllah.
Yeah. Yeah.
But just to to,
to finish it up, inshallah,
to connect Surat Al Kafirun,
Bessurit
what?
And Nasr,
the surah that we were talking last
last Thursday.
You know, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
and this is why Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
put Surat al Nasr after Surat through.
Yeah. And this is for all of us
now.
If you practice your religion,
if you worship your Lord, almighty Allah,
if you do what Allah
commanded
you to do,
yeah, for sure,
Allah will grant it Allah will grant you
His victory.
Allah
will help you out.
Allah will support you. And this is what
happened to prophet Muhammad
after he
testified
that he will not worship
the idols of disbelievers,
and they will not worship
his god
or his lord.
In the end,
he said, you have your religion,
or you have your own way,
and I have my own way of life.
And after he
confirmed
and after he testified,
Allah
sent the the the glad tidings
to prophet Muhammad saasalam.
When you stay firm in your belief,
in your oneness of Allah, in your aqeedah,
in your way of faith,
don't worry because Allah
will give you
the glad tidings
that He will grant you
His
victory
and His
help. And this is what we are looking
for. Why Muslims
really have a very miserable
condition
today?
Because we are not
living the way that Allah
taught us in the Quran.
Does it give?
Alhamdulillah.
We're gonna have the Adar,
and we're gonna have the karma, and we
will continue,
inshaAllah.
InshaAllah,
may Allah give us
a long life
and help us
to maintain the house of Allah,
you know, physically
by your body to come and to to
to be at the Masjid
and financially
to support the Masjid and to help the
house of Allah's for Allah financially.
