Dear brothers and sisters in Islam Today is
our weekly class Mas'al al Jahiliyya The
issues of Jahiliyya And it is Mas'al
number 28 The author Rahim Allah says anhum
laa yaqbaluna min al haqqi illa alladhi ma
'a ta'ifatihim ka qawlihi ta'ala wa
idha qeela lahum aaminu bima anzala Allah qalu
nu'minu bima anzila alayna wa yakfuruna bima wara
'ahu wa huwa al haqq ma rabbihim wa
huwa al haqq musadjikan lima ma'ahum khulfa
lima taqtuluna anbiya Allah min qabilu in kuntum
mu'mineen So this is the title of this
Mas'ala of this issue that the people
of Jahiliyya they did not accept anything from
the truth except for that which was in
accordance with their group with their party and
the author mentioned this ayah in Surat al
Baqarah ayah 91 where Allah said in response
to their claim we need to say to
them believe in what Allah has revealed they
reply we only believe in what was sent
down to us and they deny what came
afterwards though it is the truth confirming their
own scriptures ask them O Prophet why then
did you kill Allah's Prophets before if you
are truly believers let us pause here and
reflect so here this is the stance of
the people of Jahiliyya throughout history this is
the stance of the people of the scripture
the learned men people of knowledge they are
supposed to hasten and rush and accept the
message of Islam the final message they are
supposed to accept the paraclete that the Torah
mentioned and the scripture mentioned they
are supposed to accept Ahmad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
they are supposed to accept the Prophet that
the Old Testament and the New Testament prophesized
the coming of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
he is the one that when John the
Baptist asked Christ are you that Prophet he
said no he is going to come the
Prophet and his characteristics descriptions are
mentioned in their scriptures and their books and
they know that very well but it is
the envy and the jealousy the hasad that
stopped them from accepting the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi
Wasallam Allah said that they know him the
Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam because his descriptions are
mentioned clearly so Allah said they know him
as they know their own children as they
know their own children of course you would
not make a mistake between one child and
another another one you know your children so
in the same way you know your children
and you recognize this and distinguish between this
child and the other another one they know
the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam and they were
expecting him that all are saying this is
the time for the Prophet to appear you
know in the Hadith of Heraclius he said
in Bukhari I knew that this is his
time but I was thinking that he will
be from among the descendants of Isaac Yaqub,
the Jews not the Arabs the Arabs were
the descendants of Ishmael Ishmael Alayhi Salam so
this ayat tells us about their times whenever
it is said to them the people of
the book not the unlettered the pagans, the
Arabs, no people of the book believe
in what Allah has sent down revealed they
replied we only believe in what was sent
down to us if you really believe in
what was sent down to you what was
sent down to you tells you that this
is a true Prophet why don't you follow
him when you know that he is the
Prophet that your own scripture mentions you know
when the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam arrived in
Medina Safiyya Safiyya is the daughter of Hurayy
her father is a chief of the Jews
in Medina then she became the wife of
the Prophet and she became Muslim so she
tells us what happened on that day when
the Prophet arrived in Medina she said my
father and my uncle they went in the
morning to see him to cross-check to
examine, to verify is he the Prophet that
the Torah mentioned the scripture mentioned or imposter,
false Prophet she said they went in the
morning they came in the evening came back
she said before whenever I see them I
run to them and they hug me and
they carry me but now she said I
ran towards them and they ignored me and
they had you could see their facial expressions
you could see sadness and their faces they
were not happy and then she said I
heard one of them my father or my
uncle telling the other one what do you
think of him he said he is the
one he is the Prophet they were talking
to each other he said he is the
Prophet she said what should we do he
said we are going to fight him see
the fanaticism and the stubbornness and the envy
can destroy someone and really it destroyed them
because they rejected the truth why
the Jews settled in Medina the Jews three
tribes settled in Medina because they knew this
is the place that the Prophet will migrate
to so they settled there waiting for him
because they were expecting him to be from
among the Jews a
king a Yemenite king embraced and
believed in Islam before the coming of the
Prophet before even he was born and he
was the first one to close the Kaaba
he wanted to occupy Medina the Jews they
came out to him and they said you
cannot because this is the place that the
Prophet is going to come and settle here
so when they described the Prophet he believed
in him and he made a poem a
beautiful poem about the Prophet wishing that he
is when the Prophet appears and comes that
he is alive to support him and they
told him this is the house of Allah
and that's why he went and he closed
the Kaaba yet they are saying we are
going to fight him وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ آمِنُوا
بِمَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا نُؤْمِنُوا بِمَا أُنزِلْ عَلَيْنَا
we only believe in what was revealed to
us sent down to us وَيَكْفُرُونَ بِمَا وَرَاءَهُ
وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَهُ وَيَكْفُرُونَ they reject,
they disbelieve anything else وَهُوَ الْحَقُّ
they know that this is the truth we
only believe in what was sent down to
us and they deny and reject what came
afterwards though it is the truth that confirms
the old scriptures مُصَدِّقًا لِّمَا مَعَهُمْ what the
Quran mentions, what the Quran says confirms what
is mentioned in the scripture, the old scriptures
the Quran was the muhaymin, the criterion the
truth that is there in the scripture mentioned
and the mistakes that are there also mentioned
and he told us, told the Muslims that
the learned men the rabbis and the the
monks, they adulterated the scripture so
the Quran here argues Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala argues with them and the Quranic arguments
are very powerful, very powerful so they are
saying we believe whenever they are told, believe
in what Allah sent down, the Quran and
Islam accepted, they say no, we only believe
in what was sent down to us and
we deny anything, whatever comes afterwards though it
confirms what we have and it confirms what
is there in the old scriptures then Allah
asks them, raises this question to them because
you claim that you are believers, so now
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is questioning them
so this ayah shows the real substance Allah
said, why then if you are believers, why
then did you kill Allah's prophets who came
to you if you are true believers why
then did you kill Allah's prophets before if
you are truly believers which means you are
not true believers so the Uthamajib brothers and
sisters here mentions to us this ignoble quality
of the people of Jahiliyyah among them the
people of the book and others they rejected
the truth, they opposed the message that came
to them out of arrogance and stubbornness but
they were arrogant and stubborn so they were
not interested and they were not seeking the
truth not looking for the truth, they were
not seeking the truth the truth came to
them as clear as the sun in daylight
but they did it the seeker of truth,
the sincere seeker of truth Salman al-Farisi,
Salman the Persians and you know if you
read his biography, his story he left Persia
seeking and looking for the truth though he
was a Zoroastrian by a worshipper and he
stayed for a while and lived for a
while with one monk,
Christian learned man and then when this learned
man is dying told him I don't know
anyone who is upon the true message of
Christ except another one who is in this
place go and live with him then the
second one okay when he was dying told
Salman I don't know anyone who is upon
what I am upon today unless he is
a Hanifi following the Hanifia following the monotheistic
creed of Ibrahim and he told him this
is a time of a prophet to appear
and to come and he described him and
he will be in Arabia and he will
be in this place Medina used to be
called so Salman he was searching and looking
for anyone to take him there he came
across a group of the Arabs and he
asked them they said you are most welcome
we will take you so they took him
unfortunately they sold him as a slave he
was sold as a slave to the Jews
and he became a slave but he was
looking for the truth when the prophet entered
because now he has knowledge so when the
prophet arrived in Medina he went and when
he saw him he realized he must be
the prophet but he has to he had
to verify so he came one day with
a basket full of dates gave it to
the prophet and he said this is charity
because he knew that he doesn't eat so
the prophet didn't touch it he gave it
to the companions so he said this is
one he gave another day with the basket
of dates and said this is a gift
the prophet touched it and ate from it
so this is the second so he kept
verifying and checking that he is a prophet
but now he wants to see something which
is the seal of prophethood the seal of
prophethood is a growth between the shoulders of
the prophet and it is covered with few
hairs how to see it?
difficult, it's covered so one day the prophet
was in the graveyard burying one of the
sahaba so Salman came from behind and he
was trying to see if he can see
the seal the prophet knew what he was
looking for so he lowered his cloak down
and he said you are looking for this
searching for this that's it he became a
Muslim because he was sincere and he was
looking for the truth but if your truth
is not your goal is not your objective
then you follow your own whims and desires
that's why they opposed the truth when it
came to them because of their arrogance and
stubbornness this uncivilised attitude and behaviour was
based upon this blind fanaticism who are fanatic
blind followers they are not looking for the
truth this extreme bigotry fanaticism clouded
their sight and insight as well they were
blind they could not see and no wonder
the Quran says they are
deaf dumb and blind they don't turn to
the truth though these faculties the faculty of
sight the faculty of hearing the faculty of
speaking the speech are functioning yet they were
described as blind because the real blindness is
the blindness of the heart when you lose
the insight that's the real blindness so they
don't see the truth they don't hear the
truth leave alone to talk about the truth
so Sheikh Mohammed he deduced from this ayah
mentioned when it is said to them believe
in what Allah has revealed they reply we
only believe in what was sent down to
us he deduced from it this issue beforehand
which we are discussing I hope my dear
brothers and sisters you are taking notes so
the relevance of this ayah my dear brothers
and sisters what's the relationship what is the
relevance of this ayah to this smart deduction
of Sheikh Mohammed it's very relevant because the
Jews who were living at the time of
the Prophet refused to accept him as the
Prophet that the scripture mentions in spite of
knowing him that he is the one so
what was the motive why did they reject
him because he was not a Jew that's
it that's the reason despite that he is
the Prophet the scripture mentions though they were
expecting him the Prophet but expecting him to
be from among themselves among the Jews Allah
mentions this in surat al Baqarah ayah 89
wa lamma ja'ahum kitabun min'indillahi kitabun
min'indillahi musaddiqun lima ma'ahum wa kanu
min qabilu yastaftihuna ala alladhina kafaru falamma ja
'ahum The meaning, although
they used to pray for victory, the Jews,
by means of the prophet of camp, they
used to threaten the Arabs, their neighbours in
Medina were the Aus and the Khazraj, and
the Aus are allies for some tribes of
the Jews, the other also tribe, the Khazraj
allies for others.
And they used to support, this will support
this tribe, this will support this tribe and
make them fight, to weaken them.
And they were threatening the Arabs, telling them
that this is the time of a prophet,
he will come, we will follow him and
then we will fight you along with him
and wipe you out.
That's what they used to do.
So this threat was echoing in the minds
of the Arabs.
So when the prophet, they heard of him
in Mecca, they said this is the prophet,
the Jews were threatening us and he is
now from our cousins, he is an Arab,
so let us embrace Islam.
And they did, the people of Medina, the
Aus and the Khazraj.
Those Aus and Khazraj, they were cousins, their
tribe is Al-Azd, the tribe of Al
-Azd and they are Yemenites, so all the
Ansar are Yemenis, Yemenites.
Although they used to pray for victory by
means of the prophet over the polytheists, when
they came to them a book from Allah,
which they recognized, confirming the scripture they had
in their hands, they rejected it.
So may Allah's condemnation be upon the disbelievers.
Let us suppose I reflect Medieval Muslims, when
this scripture
came to them, the Qur'an, confirming what
is with them, what is mentioned in this
scripture, so they were threatening the Arabs
and telling them this is the time of
a prophet to come, we'll believe in him
and fight you with him.
Why?
They disbelieved in it, they rejected it, they
denied it, though they recognized this is a
scripture from Allah, they know that.
فَلَعَنَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَى الْكَافِرِينَ Allah cursed them.
So may Allah's curse be upon the disbelievers.
This disease of the heart, my dear brothers
and sisters, this disease of rejecting the truth,
my dear brothers and sisters, and I'm talking
to myself, we should train ourselves not to
reject the truth, we should train ourselves to
accept the truth, irrespective of who says it,
irrespective of its source, as long as it
is Haqq, accept it, accept the truth.
That's why in the hadith, الحِكْمَ ضَالَّةَ الْمُؤْمِنُ
A piece of wisdom is your last item,
so when you find it, pick it, pick
it up, take it.
Abu Huraira radiallahu anhu, he learnt Ayatul Kursi
from a shaytan, and you know the hadith.
Ayatul Kursi that you read every night, is
a shaytan told Abu Huraira that this ayah,
if you read it before you go to
sleep, no satan will come close to you.
And when he mentioned this Abu Huraira to
the Prophet ﷺ, what did Abu Huraira, what
did the Prophet ﷺ tell Abu Huraira?
What did he tell him?
Did he tell him, oh don't believe him,
he's only shaytan, shaytan, don't believe the shaytan.
Did he say that?
No.
He told Abu Huraira, صَدَقَكَ وَهُوَ كَذُوبٌ Abu
Huraira, he told you the truth, though he's
a liar, he is a liar, but here
he told you the truth.
The Prophet ﷺ did not reject the truth
that was said by satan.
Today many Muslims, they don't accept the truth
from their Muslim brothers because he's not from
my group or jama'a or organisation, so
I will not accept whatever he says.
It is haqq, and he is telling you
Allah said, the Prophet ﷺ said, you don't
accept it.
So you have the jahiliyyah quality, just like
those we are talking about, you reject the
truth.
The Prophet ﷺ he said, الكبر بطر الحق
وغمط الناس Arrogance, you want to know if
you are arrogant or not?
The arrogant is the person, is the one
who rejects the truth, بطر الحق, and belittling
the people.
So, this disease, my dear brothers and sisters,
the disease of rejecting the truth, the rejection
of truth, once it penetrates your heart and
settles therein in your heart, then a barrier
is established between you and the truth, and
nothing penetrates, because the heart is sealed.
Listen to what Allah says in surat al
-Baqarah, ayah 113, telling us what happens
when you become stubborn, biased, lack
The Jews
say the Christians have nothing to stand on.
And the Christians say the Jews have nothing
to stand on, although both Jews and Christians,
although both, recite the scriptures.
And those pagans who have no knowledge say
the same about people of the faith.
Surely Allah will judge between them on the
day of judgment regarding their dispute.
Let us pause and reflect here.
وَقَالَتِ الْيَهُودُ The Jews, they said, regarding the
Christians.
لَيْسَتْ النَّصَارَ عَلَى شَيْءٍ They have nothing to
stand on.
There is no foundation and strong foundation that
supports their belief.
That's why they tried to kill Christ.
They were boasting
that we killed Christ, son of Mary.
Allah said, no, they killed him not.
No, they crucified him.
It appeared to them so.
Allah lifted him up to Him.
So they didn't believe in Him.
And they considered His mother and chaste woman
and they considered Him a legitimate child.
And when Mary, as you know, came carrying
him as a baby, they started ridiculing
her, talking sarcastically about her.
Ya akhtar haroon, sarcastically they are talking.
O sister of Aaron, ma kaana abukim raa
sawin, wa ma kaana tumukibaghiya, neither that your
father was a wicked man, nor that your
mother was an unchaste woman.
So they were insinuating, what happened?
You committed a shameful deed.
Fa asharat ilayhi, so she only pointed towards
Isa, Christ, who was a babe, qalo kayfa
nukallimu, man kaana fil mahdi sabihi.
How can we talk to a babe in
the cradle?
Allah made him to speak, qala inni abdullah,
yet they didn't accept him, but they will
accept him later when he comes.
As Allah said, min ahl al-kitabi illa
layu'minanna bihi qabla budhi, wa yawma al-qiyamati
yakun So when Christ comes again, and we
Muslims believe in that, because he was taking
up a life, and he's still alive.
And this is the time, now it is
time for him to come down.
And he will descend and come down to
earth around about the time of the fajr,
carried by angels.
It's about time that the son of Mary
too will descend, hakaman adlan, a
just judge and ruler, who rules and judges
between you.
And he is going to break the crucifix,
and cancel the jizya, and kill the swine,
who do not accept from the Jews and
Christians anything, except Islam.
And that is where they accept him.
And that's when this prophecy, wa in min
ahl al-kitabi, no one from among the
people of the scripture except that he will
accept him, believe in him.
And on the day of resurrection, he will
be a witness against them.
Yet see what happens.
Wa qalat al yahoodu laysat al nasara ala
shayt, the Jews, they say the Christians, they
have nothing to stand on.
Likewise, wa qalat al nasara, the Christians also,
wa qalat al nasara laysat al yahoodu ala
shayt, wa hum yatloon al-kitabi.
So both of them, that's why the Muslim
scholars, they say here, indeed, each one said
the truth regarding the other.
Yes, they are, neither this party has something
to stand, nor that one.
So they really tell the truth about each
other.
Wa hum yatloon al-kitabi, though both of
them, they read the scripture.
Then Allah said, kazalika qala allatheena la ya
'lamoon.
Now, the pagans, the idolaters, the idol worshippers,
they said the same thing regarding the people
of the scripture.
They say, you also all have nothing to
stand on.
Then Allah said, fallahu yahkumu bayna, Allah is
the one who is going to settle the
disputes and the enmity and what they, the
things they dispute.
Fallahu yahkumu baynahum yawm al-qiyamah.
There are certain issues and disputes will remain,
will not be settled, but Allah will settle
them in the day of resurrection.
Fallahu yahkumu baynahum yawm al-qiyamah, fee makano
fihi yakhtaghthoon, regarding their disputes.
Then Allah also mentioned in surat Ali Imran,
ayah 73, they said, the people of the
scripture, wa la tu'minu illa liman tabi'a
deenakum, qul inna al-huda huda Allahi yu'tihi
an yu'ta ahadum mitla ma ooteetum, wa yuhajukum
inda rabbikum, qul inna al-fadla biyadi Allahi
yu'tihi man yashya, wa Allahu as'al nazeem.
And only believe, that's what they said, and
only believe those who follow your religion.
Say O Prophet, surely the only true guidance
is Allah's guidance.
They also said do not believe that someone
will receive revealed knowledge similar to yours or
argue against you before your Lord.
Say O Prophet, indeed all bounty is in
the hands of Allah.
He grants it to whoever He wills, and
Allah is all-bountiful on knowing, let us
suppose.
So they are saying, wa la tu'minu illa
liman tabi'a deenakum, do not believe except
the ones who follow your own religion.
Qul, O Muhammad, inna al-huda huda Allah,
so the true guidance is Allah's guidance.
They also said do not believe, that's what
they said, do not believe except whoever follows
what you have, do not believe that someone
will receive.
So they are telling each other, reminding each
other, don't think that someone will receive guidance
like the guidance you received, and then they
will argue you with it.
So Allah told them, the guidance is mine,
the bounty is mine, this is a gift
I bestow upon whom I love.
Qul, inna al-fadla bi-yadillah, this is
fadl for Allah, guidance is a fadl, bounty,
blessing, that He guides you, He chooses you
from among millions, because He sees in your
heart the eagerness and keenness
to know the truth and accept the truth.
So you have this seed of khair, good,
in your heart, and you have sincerity, so
He chooses you.
Allah chooses those who are sincere, and He
guides them.
Millions are blind, but you saw the truth.
Inna al-fadla bi-yadillah, yu'tihim al-yashar,
indeed all bounty is in the hands of
Allah.
He grants it, He gives it, to whomever
He wills.
Wallahu wasi'un aleen, Allah's bounty is so
enormous, and Allah is all-bountiful.
His treasures will never be depleted, all-knowing.
Also Allah says in surat al-Baqarah, 145,
wa la'in atayta alladhina ootu al-kitaba,
bi kulli ayatim ma tabi'u qiblatak, wa
ma anta bitabi'in qiblatahum, wa ma ba'duhum
bitabi'in qiblata ba'd.
wa la'in ittaba'ti ahwa'ahum min ba'di
ma ja'aka min al-'ilm, innaka idha lamin
ad-dhalimeen.
Even if you were to bring every proof
to the people of the Book, they would
not accept your direction of prayer.
Nor would you accept theirs, nor would any
of them accept the direction of prayer of
another.
And if you were to follow their desires
after all the knowledge that has come to
you, then you would certainly be one of
the wrongdoers.
Let us pause here.
This ayah talks about changing the direction of
prayer.
Muslims were told to face Jerusalem.
Allah said, finish.
We turned, facing Jerusalem.
And the Muslims continued praying, facing Jerusalem.
Though the Prophet ﷺ was yearning, his heart
is longing to pray towards Makkah.
And he was looking up, asking Allah, thinking
and wishing that something would come down telling
him to face Makkah.
And that's what happened.
So Allah told him now, go back and
face Makkah.
And the beauty of the Qur'an, because
it is from Allah ﷻ, this is his
speech, the speech of Allah, mentioned to the
Muslims when they faced Makkah, he said, the
fools will come and ask you, why did
you change the direction of your prayer?
Why?
Before anyone came.
And this is a proof that the Qur
'an is the speech of Allah.
Because this is a golden chance for the
doubters, for the enemies, for the opponents of
this message to tell each other, hey guys,
this is our chance.
Seal your lips.
No one should utter a word.
No one should pose this question.
Then we will come and say, you are,
your book, your Qur'an saying the fools
will ask you.
No one asked you.
But the truth is that they came and
they asked.
They came to the Muslims.
Why did you face now Makkah instead of
Jerusalem?
Why did you change the direction of your
prayer?
Oh, so you are the fools.
Yeah, because the one who said that, he
knows that they are going to say it.
So here in this ayah, I was telling
his Prophet ﷺ, وَلَا إِنْ أَتَيْتَ الَّذِينَ أُوْتُوا
الْكِتَابُ If you bring to the people the
scripture and give them every ayah, every sign,
every verse, they will not follow the direction
of your prayer.
Nor that you will follow the direction of
their prayers.
Or they follow the direction of the prayer
of the others.
And then Allah warned his Prophet ﷺ.
And this is another proof that the Qur
'an is the speech of Allah.
It's not something made by the Prophet ﷺ.
Because if you read the Qur'an, the
Qur'an in many places warned his Prophet
ﷺ.
So here Allah warns him.
وَلَا إِنْ اتَّبَعَتَ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ If you follow their
hawa, their desire.
مِن بَعْدِ مَا جَاءَكَ مِنَ الْعِلْمِ After the
knowledge came to you.
إِنَّكَ إِذَا لَّمَنُوا الظَّالِمِينَ Then you'll be from
among the dhālimīn, the wrongdoers.
So this was the stance of the people
of the scripture.
How about the stance of the unlettered, the
pagans?
See what happened.
Abu Jahl, Abu Jahl, Abu al-Hakam
actually, he's one of the chiefs of Quraysh.
They come and seek his advice, consult him.
But when he rejected Islam, instead a father
of wisdom, he became the father of ignorance.
So Abu Jahl refused to accept Islam.
Why?
What was the reason?
Very trivial, very silly.
He said, كُنَّ نَحْنُ وَبَنُوا هَاشِمُ كَفَرَ سَيِّرِيهَانِ
أَطْعَمُوا فَأَطْعَمْنَا سَقَوْا فَسَقَيْنَا So he said, We,
Banu Mahzum, he's from Banu Mahzum, the clan
of Khalid ibn al-Waleed.
He said, We were competing with Banu Hashim,
the clan of the Prophet ﷺ, because Makkah
was the center where all the Arabs, they
come because there is the Kaaba, the house
of Allah.
So when all the tribes, they come, they
receive them.
When the pilgrims, they come, they receive the
pilgrims, they feed them, they provide them with
everything.
So he said, We were competing with Banu
Hashim, كَفَرَ سَيِّرِيهَانِ like two horses on the
race track, on the track of race.
Two horses in the race competing which one,
which horse is going to win the race.
They fed the pilgrims, we fed the pilgrims.
They fetched water, provided water for the pilgrims,
we did the same thing.
So we're breaking even.
And all of a sudden, they said, We
have a prophet.
How can we compete with them?
So that is the reason why he didn't
accept the Prophet ﷺ, because he is the
prophet from Banu Hashim, Banu Abd al-Manaf,
not from Banu Mahzum.
If he's from Banu Mahzum, he will accept
him because he saw the sign.
You know, one day an Arab came to
Quraish who was sitting around the Kaaba.
And he said, Please help me to get
my money from Abu al-Hakam.
He owes me money and he is procrastinating
and he is not paying me my money.
And the date is due.
So Quraish now they found this is the
chance for them.
So they wanted to create a clash between
the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Jahl, Abu al
-Hakam, Hisham.
So they told this Arab, this who is
not from Mecca.
So do you see that man who is
sitting there?
They pointed towards the Prophet ﷺ.
Go to him and ask him to help
you.
So he went to him.
He approached the Prophet ﷺ and he said,
Can you help me?
The Prophet ﷺ said, OK, let's go.
Knock on the door.
Abu Jahl opened the door.
The Prophet ﷺ is there.
He said, Abu al-Hakam, give this man
his money.
He said, Wait, wait a minute.
He went inside, fetched the money, gave it
to the man.
And the man came back thanking Quraish.
He said, What happened?
He said, We went to him.
This man, the Prophet ﷺ asked him to
give me my money and he gave me
my money.
Then Abu Jahl came.
He said, What happened?
We were expecting you to say something to
Muhammad or to Hisham or to say something
to Hisham.
He said, No, I couldn't do anything.
He said, By Allah, I saw a camel,
giant camel, opening its mouth to crush my
head.
So he knew that he is a Prophet,
but because he is from Banu Abd al
-Manaf, not from Banu Maqlum.
Another example.
See, when the Hawa, this Hawa, desire, following
your own whims, not seeking the truth, no
sincerity.
Umayyah bin Abi Salt, he is from Thaqif,
from the tribe of Al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf.
He refused to become a Muslim because the
Prophet ﷺ was not from the tribe of
Thaqif.
Another example.
A Bedouin followed Musaylama.
You know Musaylama, the liar.
After the death of the Prophet ﷺ, many
liars, many imposters.
Everyone is saying he is a Prophet.
And Musaylama, during the life of the Prophet
ﷺ.
So this Bedouin followed Musaylama.
Did he believe in Musaylama?
No.
So he followed Musaylama, the liar, and said
to Musaylama, he told him, I know you
are a liar.
I know that you are a liar.
But a liar from the tribe of Rabi
'ah is more beloved to me than a
liar from the tribe of Mudarr.
Amen to the Prophet ﷺ.
It was because he was a mushrik.
But I know you are a liar, you
are not a true Prophet.
But because you are from my tribe.
But Islam, my dear brothers and sisters, teaches
its followers to accept the truth.
This is what Islam teaches us.
To accept the truth.
Irrespective of the one who believes in this
truth and adheres to it.
This is what the Qur'an teaches us.
What Islam teaches the Muslims.
Allah says in Surah Al-Baqarah ayah 136
Say, O Believers!
Allah is addressing us.
We believe in Allah and what has been
revealed to us, the Qur'an, and what
was revealed to Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and
his descendants, and what was given to Moses,
Jesus, and other Prophets from their Lord.
We believe in all that.
We make no distinction between any of them.
And to Allah, we all submit.
This is Islam.
Because we believe in all the Prophets.
And when you become a Muslim, you don't
lose anyone of the Prophets.
You are a Christian.
You become a Muslim, you don't lose Christ.
You love Christ more.
Also, Allah says in Surah Al-Imran ayah
84 Say, O
Prophet!
We believe in Allah and what has been
revealed to us, and what was revealed to
Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, and his descendants, and
what was given to Moses, Jesus, and other
Prophets from their Lord.
We make no distinction between any of them.
To Him, we fully submit.
May Allah keep us remain steadfast on this
beautiful Deen, the Deen of the Tawheed, the
monotheistic Deen.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala take our
souls while we are Muslims.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
forgive us our false mistakes and ignorance.
We ask Allah to bless us with the
beneficial knowledge of righteous deeds.
And may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala guide
our Ummah to the Haqq, and unite our
hearts upon the Haqq.
And may Allah reward all of you, my
dear brothers and sisters, immensely for your patience
and attendance.
May Allah bless you, protect you, elevate your
status in this world, and in Jannatul Naeem.
Ameen.
Fatiha.
Please let me know once you've received the
first question.
Go ahead.
The first question.
The Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said,
There is no man whom Allah has entrusted
with the care of people, and he fails
to look after them in an honest manner,
but he will not experience the fragrance of
Paradise.
Sahih Muslim.
Is this hadith related to parental upbringing?
It is.
Hadith is general, and that's why there is
huge responsibility and heavy task placed on the
shoulders of the parents.
So we have to take care of our
offspring, take care of our children.
Everyone is a shepherd, everyone is a caretaker,
and you will be held accountable before Allah,
and so whichever.
Next.
Farah Tlafiq, the next question.
What are the consequences for someone who causes
fitna between people and harbors kinah, which is
malice and enmity toward another person?
Additionally, what advice can be given to protect
the one suffering from such behavior?
It is a disease, and one
has to repent and quit immediately, and ask
Allah to cure him.
The Prophet said, So the one
who spreads fitna, causes division between families, between
brothers and sisters.
The Prophet said no jannah for him, he
will be deprived of entering the jannah.
So this is a noble quality you should
not have.
This is a disease, that you harbor this
malice, enmity, rancor in your heart.
And many people, those who have this sickness,
this enmity, hates them.
They don't enjoy life, they don't feel happy
at all.
So only Allah can remove this from their
heart, if they repent sincerely and turn to
him.
So it is a major sin, a major
sin.
A Muslim should not harbor any enmity or
malice towards his brothers and sisters.
You know the hadith, that the Sahaba were
sitting one day, and then a man entered
upon them, and his beard was, the drops
of water were falling.
His beard was soaked and wet with the
water of the ablution.
Before he entered, he said now a man
from the people of the jannah is going
to enter.
And this happened three times.
Then one of the young Sahaba, he went
to this man, this Sayyidina Sa'ad, and
he told him, I want to be your
guest for three days, because I have an
issue with my father.
He said you are most welcome, because he
wanted to see if this man is doing
additional things, more ibadah at home than what
we, everyone does.
Because when he's in the masjid, they know
what he's doing.
But maybe they are acts of worship, they
don't see them.
Three days he didn't see anything abnormal, different,
unique.
But these three days he said, uncle, I
have no problem with my father.
But our Prophet told us three times that
you are from the people of jannah.
So what is the secret?
He said, my son, as is so.
There's nothing that's different or differs from what
you are doing.
But my son, when I go to sleep,
I don't hold any glutge or malice in
my heart against any Muslim.
I don't have.
I forgive everyone, and I sleep peacefully.
That is the reason.
Next question.
Barak Allafiq, the next question.
If a husband is not wanting to keep
the wife's kinship ties, is this permissible or
is he sinful?
If he has valid reason that he doesn't
want to maintain ties with the kinship of
his wife, because they cause trouble to him,
okay, he just minimizes the circle.
So only her family, her parents, that's it.
Not the entire family or clan or tribe.
No, he's not sinful.
He's not sinful.
That is the reason, okay.
Because sometimes, the relatives of the wife, they
give you a tough time.
If they are in town, they have to
come to you.
They have to sleep in your home, and
you have to feed them, and they give
you a headache.
Oh, we have our son here, the son
-in-law, okay.
So instead of go and book in a
hotel, we'll go to his home, to his
house.
So you need to understand why your husband
doesn't want to widen the circle.
Next question.
BarakAllahu fiqh, the next question, this is a
question from my seven-year-old grandson.
Where is the place of the soul in
the body?
Will a person be protected from the torment
of the grave if he dies on Friday,
and if he's buried on the same day
only?
JazakAllahu khair.
May Allah bless you.
May Allah make you, inshallah, the apple of
the eyes of your parents.
May Allah make you one of the ulama
of Islam.
Ameen.
Where is the place of the soul in
the body?
We don't know.
This is a secret.
Because Allah said, they asked you regarding the
soul.
They said the knowledge of the soul belongs
exclusively to Allah.
We don't know.
It is there where we don't know.
Just in the same way you don't know
where the aql, the mind, where is the
aql?
We don't know.
Though it exists, we have minds.
But where is it?
The brain?
The brain is not the mind.
The mad person has a brain, but he
doesn't have mind, doesn't have the intellect.
Right?
And this is a proof that something exists
within you.
And you believe it is there, though you
are not seeing it.
And this is an evidence that can be
used against the atheist.
The atheist says, because I don't see anything,
so I don't believe in it.
So where is your soul?
You don't see it.
So you don't have soul.
Where's your mind?
You don't see it.
You don't have mind.
There are many things you don't see, but
you believe that they are there.
Now, this moment, now I'm talking to you.
Around you, there are many sounds, many voices.
You don't see them.
You don't hear them.
But you cannot deny that they are there
in the room.
But they are at different frequencies.
And your ear cannot detect these sounds.
But if you bring a transistor, a radio,
tune it, these frequencies will go through the
aerial, the antenna, be converted into audible frequencies.
And then you will be able to hear
these sounds.
No, they are there.
There are microbes.
There are germs.
They are all around, all over your body.
You don't see them.
You cannot deny.
If you take a microscope, you will not
sleep on your bed.
If you see what is there, you will
not sleep.
And Allah, out of his mercy, he limited
our sight.
So we don't see these things.
Regarding the other part of the question, will
a person be protected from the torment of
the grave if he dies on Friday?
Dying on Friday is a sign, a good
sign of a good ending.
And inshallah, a person who dies on Friday
or Friday night or Friday morning, inshallah, this
is a good sign, good ending.
And inshallah, he will be safe from the
torment of the grave, inshallah.
Next.
The next question, how is inheritance to be
divided amongst the five following persons?
Husband, two daughters.
This question, I received it and they will
receive the answer, inshallah.
The next question, my relative has more than
enough funds to complete the full Hajj, but
has never done so.
He is going to Umrah this year and
heard from a local imam that his Umrah
won't be accepted, as he hasn't completed his
full.
Will his Umrah be accepted?
No, no, this is different.
Okay, so he wants to go to Umrah,
though he hasn't performed the Hajj.
Umrah, inshallah, will be accepted, but next year
he should go for Hajj.
Next year he should go for Hajj, inshallah,
because the Hajj has more priority than the
Umrah.
And if the money of Umrah, if he
goes to the Umrah this time, he will
not be able to go to the Hajj
next year.
Then yes, spare this money for the Hajj,
inshallah, because the first before the Sunnah.
Next.
The next question, can you kindly shed light
on the concept of Tawassul?
Shed light, not shade light, okay?
Yes, on the Tawassul.
Tawassul, what does Tawassul mean?
Tawassul, if you go to the root wasalah,
which means to have a means of approaching.
So Tawassul is the means of reaching Allah.
That's why in Arabic they call the transportation,
buses, trains, wasa'il muwasalat, or waseelat, the
car, waseelat muwasalat, because the car is the
means by which I move from A to
B.
It takes me from A to B.
So now this is the linguistic meaning.
So what will bring me close to Allah
in the religious context or technical definition?
Before that, an Arab poet said, Inna ar
-rijala lahum ilayki waseelatun.
In yakhtobuki, takhaddabi wa takahhali.
That's why many of others insist that the
Arabic language is very essential.
If you want to know your Islam, study
Arabic.
Inna ar-rijala lahum ilayki waseelatun.
The men, this poet is addressing a woman,
telling her, the men, they want to approach
you, to reach you, to get close to
you, to marry you, to propose.
Inna ar-rijala lahum ilayki waseelatun.
In yakhtobuki, when they propose to you, takhaddabi
butkhidab inna and kuhul wa takahhali.
So the waseela is to get close to
what you like.
So how to get close to your beloved
one?
And that's Allah.
What will bring you close to Allah?
Inna ar-rijala lahum ilayki waseelatun.
There are many means to, through
your good righteous deeds.
You do righteous deeds.
So these good deeds will be a cause
and a means and waseela to bring you
close to Allah.
Good deeds.
And remember the hadith of the three who
got trapped, trapped in the cave.
And then they said to each other, to
each other, everyone has to mention some good,
a good deed.
He did it purely for the sake of
Allah.
And everyone mentioned a good deed and all
of them came out.
Second thing, to ask Allah by his names.
This is tawassul, by the names of Allah.
Begging Allah, praying, supplicating to Allah by his
names.
This means will bring you close to Allah.
Thirdly, the attributes of Allah.
You mentioned the sifat of Allah.
Like in the hadith, ya hayyu ya qayyum
bi rahmatika astaghif.
This is tawassul, by the attributes of Allah.
Ya hayyu, or ever living.
Qayyum, one who stands upon his kingdom, monitors
his kingdom, governs his kingdom, supervises his kingdom,
watches over his kingdom.
Ya qayyum bi rahmatika astaghif.
I beg you by your mercy.
I appeal to you by mentioning your mercy.
Aslih li sha'ni kulla, amend all my
affairs.
And don't leave me a blink of an
eye to rely on myself.
So this is a tawassul by mentioning the
attributes of Allah.
Another tawassul, and these types of tawassul all
are permissible.
Permissible.
Another type of tawassul is to mention your
status.
Mentioning your status.
Oh Allah, you see me.
Oh Allah, I am poor.
Oh Allah, I am in need.
Oh Allah, help.
This is tawassul because you are mentioning your
status, your situation.
Like what Musa alayhi salam did.
After he watered and gave water to the
flock of the two girls, what did he
do?
He went, sat in the shade of the
tree.
He said, Oh Allah, I am poor.
I am in need, need of a wife.
Allah.
So he was expressing and praying to Allah,
mentioning his situation, his weakness.
Begging Allah.
And you know what happened?
Allah answered his supplication and he got married.
So these types of tawassul permissible.
And this is the sunnah, the way you
make tawassul.
Another type of tawassul is called tawassul bid
'i, which is bid'ah.
Bid'ah.
And that is to mention something is not
yours and means you don't possess it.
You don't have it.
And this is what many Sufis are doing.
Allahumma inni as'aluka bi jahi nabiyyak, sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam.
Oh Allah, I ask you by the jah,
the status of the Prophet.
So you are asking Allah something which is
not yours.
The Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, his status
is noble, lofty, high, no doubt.
But you don't do this.
This is not what the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi
wa sallam, told the Sahaba.
And none of the Sahaba made this type
of tawassul.
Leave alone to mention someone less than the
Prophet, like highest people.
So this type of tawassul is bid'ah,
not shirk, bid'ah.
Bid'ah, not shirk.
But here I want to mention something else.
That some Muslims, they mix and they
call istighatha tawassul.
Istighatha is to seek help
from other than Allah.
The bid'ah tawassul, you ask Allah but
by mentioning something which is not yours.
And it's not sanctioned and approved by the
lawgiver.
Istighatha, you ask other than Allah and it
is shirk.
It's not tawassul, shirk, the istighatha.
So when you ask, oh Abd al-Qadir
Jilani, help me.
This is not tawassul, this is istighatha and
this is shirk, major shirk.
Because you made Abd al-Qadir Haqqana here
by asking him, this is shirk.
So you have to differentiate between the istighatha
and the tawassul, bid'ah tawassul.
There's also another type of tawassul which is
permissible, I forgot it, now I remembered it.
That you make tawassul, ask Allah by
your belief, your iman, your iman.
So to mention because you believe, because of
your iman.
So here they make tawassul by their iman
and this is permissible.
So I hope this is clear to the
questioner.
The tawassul by saying Allah man yas'alik
wa bi jahi nabiyyik, bi jahi as-salihin
and this is bid'ah.
Because that is not what the revelation and
the lawgiver sanctioned and approved of.
It is bid'ah, not shirk.
But the istighatha which many Muslims they call
it tawassul, asking other than Allah, this is
major shirk and takes one out of the
fold of Islam.
I hope this is clear to all of
you and to the questioner in particular.
Next question please.
There is someone who wishes to ask you
a question live.
Now we'll unmute him now insha'Allah.
Brother Ali Ibrahim.
What's the question nakeed?
There is a brother who wants to ask
a question live.
Okay, put him.
He is not unmuting so insha'Allah we
will.
Okay, fine.
Question eight.
The question number eight, what is the ruling
on the people who do their deen basing
only on one side of the evidence?
The question is not clear to be honest.
One side of the evidence.
I mean, they don't take all the proofs
together.
They just follow some of the proofs and
neglect the others.
This is what the questioner meant.
This is wrong, of course.
This is pick and choose.
This is following the hawa, the desire.
It's not right.
Next question, please.
BarakAllahu fiqh.
The next question.
In relation to the question earlier regarding malice
towards your Muslim brother and sister, what about
hating people who are unjust towards you and
making dua against them?
For example, withholding others from their share of
inheritance, etc.
If someone is wronged by someone and he
hates him or her because they wronged him,
and they deprived him or her of their
right.
Okay, so he doesn't like them because of
that.
Up to here, it is permissible.
Though the best is not to harbor this
malice in his heart or her heart.
But he's a human being at the end
of the day.
The best thing is not to harbor this
malice and grudge in his heart or her
heart.
And make dua for them and ask Allah
to guide them.
But he should not go beyond that, he
or she.
How to protect yourself from that person?
You, of course, Allah is your protector and
the dua and asking Allah to save you
from his evil or her evil.
And then you take all these precautionary measures.
Okay, whatever measures, precautionary measures you can do,
do so.
To stay away from them and to avoid
their evil.
May Allah protect you and may Allah guide
them.
Next question, please.
Just a quick follow-up question.
How to protect yourself from this type of
person?
Yeah, just try to answer it.
Yeah.
So then we will move on to Ali,
brother Ali's question live.
Brother Ali, if you want to unmute yourself.
Okay, go to the next question.
We will move on to the next question,
inshallah.
The next question.
Is it permissible to swear and say I
swear by the Rabb al-Qur'an or
Rabb al-Ka'bah?
The answer, yes, it is to take an
oath in the name of Allah or the
Lord of the Ka'bah or Rabb al
-Ka'bah.
Okay.
But not Rabb al-Qur'an because Allah
is not the Lord of the Qur'an.
The Qur'an is his attribute.
Don't say that.
Don't say that.
But the Qur'an is not created.
The Qur'an is the speech of Allah.
Okay, so it is the word of Allah.
Okay.
Say with Qur'an, it is this valid
because you are swearing by an attribute of
Allah.
But don't say Rabb al-Qur'an because
if you say this, this means you feel
you believe that the Qur'an is created,
but it is not right.
The Qur'an is not created.
It is the speech of Allah.
And this is an attribute of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala, his speech.
Personal attribute.
Okay, so be careful.
Okay.
Learn your correct aqeedah.
Next question.
Barakallahu fi shaykh.
The next question.
How does a person who has underwent eye
surgery, undergone eye surgery, pray sitting?
Yeah, okay.
May Allah grant you quick recovery.
But don't bow down if the surgeon, the
doctor told you.
Because he doesn't want the pressure to be
there on your eyes.
So you just nod if it's possible like
that with your head.
If not possible, just okay.
The ulema even said with your eyes, with
the lids of your eyes.
But if you can little bit bend the
head down.
Okay, you are not doing like this.
Okay.
That is enough and that's permissible.
I hope this is clear to you.
Next.
This was the last question.
JazakAllah khair shaykh for the lesson.
May Allah bless you all for your attendance.
I'll hand it back to the shaykh to
conclude the lesson.
Barakallahu fi kum wa jazakumullahu khayran.
Assalamu alaikum.
Wa alaikumussalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
JazakAllah khair.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala bless you
all, my dear brothers and sisters, for your
dedication, for your attendance and for your patience.
May Allah bless you, bless your family, protect
you, protect your family.
May Allah elevate your status in this world
and in jannat al-na'een.
Ameen.
Until we meet inshaAllah in the coming session,
I leave you in Allah's company and protection.
Fihifdhullahi wa ra'ayyakihi.
Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
