They include the loss of the Prophet and the loss of the companions. The segment also touches on the surprising loss of the enemy and the lack of support from the enemy. The importance of forgiveness and honoring Islam's teachings is emphasized, as well as a recap of events leading up to the Prophet's death. The segment also recites a song to encourage listeners to be aware of the situation and use their own words. Finally, the speaker discusses the importance of honoring Islam's teachings and learning about its context, highlighting a book and a fundraiser in October.

Salaamu alaykum
wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
Alhamdulillahi rabbil alameen, salatu wassalamu ala ashraf al
-mursaleen, Sayyidina Muhammadin wa ala alihi wa sahbihi
ajma'een.
Allahumma ja'al jama'ana hadha jama'an
alameen.
So, in the morning, for the brothers who
were here for Salat al-Fajr, we were
talking about Surat al-Tawbah being one of
my most favorite surahs, and you know, Surat
al-Tawbah is a madani surah, except one
ayah.
And subhanAllah al-al-azim, the more you
recite Surat al-Tawbah, the more you realize
the threat and the danger of al-munafiqeen,
the hypocrites.
That's why it's called al-fadihah, or al
-kashifah, the exposing surah.
It has many names, but this is one
of them.
Surat al-Tawbah started with bara'atun min
Allahi wa rasuluh.
There is no bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
You know when you talk to someone and
you want to make them feel like it's
a serious matter, they say, hey, listen to
me.
Alright?
wa lillahi al-matala Allah is free of
all imperfection.
Listen to me.
I'm not here to joke.
Okay?
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is telling
them from the get-go, He's telling the
believers that bara'atun min Allahi wa rasuluh,
illadhina ahadtun min al-mushrikeen.
You know, the covenants, the contracts, all whatever,
the agreements, whatever you sign up with them,
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is free of
all of that.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala has nothing to
do with that.
Why?
Because they betrayed you.
Alright?
And they plotted a lot of things behind
your back.
Faseehu fil ard al-ba'ta, and so on
and so forth.
Also, one of the things that we said
that surat al-Tawbah was the surah that
had the most word of al-Tawbah.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentioned the word
al-Tawbah in surat al-Tawbah more than
any other surah.
Al-Tawbah means what?
Repentance.
Surat al-Tawbah, although it talks about al
-munafiqeen, about al-mushrikeen, about al-kuffar, but
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala always says, illa
man taaba, fa man taaba, fa intaabu, thumma
taaba alayhim liyatubu.
Basically, we spoke about this after Salat al
-Fajr, and this is very, very profound.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala still gives them
a chance.
Right?
You betrayed the Prophet ﷺ, you betrayed the
Prophet and the companions and the Muslimeen, but
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala still giving you
an opportunity to rectify yourself and come back
to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Can you imagine a surah that didn't start
with Bismillahirrahmanirrahim has 17 times the word al
-Tawbah.
The word al-Tawbah was mentioned 17 times,
more than surat al-Baqarah.
Can you imagine?
You would imagine that it's surat al-Tawbah,
khalas, it's all about the azab, the punishment,
this and that.
Right?
But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala gives them
an opportunity to repent to Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala and come back.
And we're talking about the disbelievers and the
hypocrites.
What about us, subhanallah, the servants of Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala?
Towards the end, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
tells us about a very important story, the
story of al-Thalatha alladhina khullifu, the battle
of Tabuk.
One of the last ghazawat of the Prophet
ﷺ was also known as Ghazwat Hunayn.
One of the
things I mentioned in the morning is that
in the history of the fights and the
battles of Muslims and Islams, we have never
outnumbered the enemy, subhanallah, except Ghazwat Hunayn, Ghazwat
Tabuk.
We were way, way more than them.
And that is the only battle that we
actually...
It's not really the one we lost because,
of course, Uhud was before that, but that's
the only battle that we outnumbered them but
we still lost in the beginning.
Why?
Because of arrogance.
You know, when you feel like you're something
and you have the power and you have
the strength, and you feel like because of
the power, because of your power, you actually
have the right to be victorious.
But it doesn't work this way.
We get
the support from Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala,
and that's, inshallah, what's going to happen in
Ghazan.
And all the craziness that's happening in the
Middle East and many places in the world,
may Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala give them
nassr aziz, muazzara rabbil alameen.
Ameen.
So Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala taught them
a very important lesson, and very difficult and
severe, actually, subhanallah, lesson during Ghazwat Hunayn.
I recited this
in Salatul Maghrib, right?
And in Salatul Isha, Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala speaks about al-munafiqeen,
Because what they did,
they actually gave a lot of false excuses
to the Prophet ﷺ.
They said, we can't, we're weak, and this
and that, and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
exposed them.
He said, you are not weak, you just
didn't want to go out to the Prophet
ﷺ, you didn't want to support the Prophet
ﷺ when he needed you the most.
He exposed all of them.
Three of them, they actually excused themselves from
participating in this ghazah of the Prophet ﷺ,
and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentioned their
story at the end.
They're known as al-thalathatul ladheena khullifu.
I want you to remember Ka'b ibn
Malik, Marar ibn Rabi'ah, and Hilal ibn
Abi Umayyah.
They went to Rasulallah ﷺ and said, Ya
Rasulallah, we cannot come out with you.
Some of them said, we're not feeling well.
Some of them said, we're not ready, and
so on and so forth.
And Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knew that
they actually were capable of going with the
Prophet ﷺ, but they chose not to do.
They chose not to go with the Prophet
ﷺ.
So what happened?
After the Prophet ﷺ came back and he
was victorious, alhamdulillah rabbil alameen, the Prophet ﷺ
spoke with them.
And Ka'b ibn Malik, by the way,
he has a long hadith, how he felt
lonely because the Prophet ﷺ commanded the companions
not to talk to them.
Not to talk to them because Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala already exposed them.
He said to the Prophet that they did
not have an excuse to support and to
help.
To support and to help, like what is
happening in the Arab world right now.
You have, unfortunately, in my country, Egypt, they're
blocking our brothers and sisters in Gaza.
They're not giving them any support.
They're not helping them with anything.
And you have Jordan, the other side.
So everyone is just blocking.
Everyone is just, subhanallah, helping the enemies to
massacre our brothers and sisters.
So that's exactly the same situation.
So what we recited in Surat al-Tawbah,
it's actually happening right now.
It is happening right now.
There are so many people who are excusing
themselves.
You know, we can't support, we cannot help.
We have an agreement, we have a peace
treaty, and so on and so forth.
There's so many excuses that are happening from,
unfortunately, some Muslims in the Arab world.
So Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, exposed the
mushrikeen and the munafiqeen, especially the munafiqeen, in
Surat al-Tawbah.
In Surat al-Tawbah, Surah al-Fadihah.
They're exposed in Surah.
So Ka'b ibn Malik, when the Prophet,
sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, decided that for 40
years, no one is going to interact with
them.
No one is going to talk to them.
No one is going to, even, you can
come to the masjid, that's fine.
But nobody is going to talk to them.
They felt very lonely.
So Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, tells us,
and they apologize.
By the way, the difference between them and
the other munafiqeen is that Ka'b ibn
Malik and the rest, the three of them,
they apologized to the Prophet, sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam.
They said, you know what?
Actually, we were capable of going with you.
But we disappointed you.
We let you down, Ya Rasulallah.
Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, says,
Everyone boycotted them.
Everyone stopped talking to them.
They felt that the only one that they
have is Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And I want you to
actually pay attention to that.
Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, says, after 40
Allah has given
them the tawfeeq, the guidance to make tawbah
so that Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, can
forgive them.
See, when you see Astaghfirullah, not because it's
not from you.
Allah, subhanahu wa ta'ala, has given you
the guidance and tawfeeq to see Astaghfirullah.
Because He wanted to forgive you sins.
That's tawfeeq.
It's a ni'mah from Allah, subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
It's a fadl from Allah, subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
That's why when you
make du'a, especially when you make du
'a for tawbah, very good du'a to
Ya Allah,
give us the hidayah and tawfeeq to make
tawbah and ask for forgiveness so that you
can forgive us, ya Allah.
Right?
After this, Ka'b ibn Malik, he narrates
this long hadith.
And he says, after we were told that
Allah revealed this ayah regarding our situation, we
were so happy and we felt that subhanallah,
our soul came back to our bodies.
And then Rasulullah ﷺ told them to the
companions, now it's time to talk to them.
Because they were sincere in their tawbah.
Whenever you're sincere in your tawbah, Allah ﷻ
forgives you.
Allah ﷻ facilitates all the doors and all
the means and paths for hidayah and for
guidance.
A lot
of times brothers and sisters say that, I'm
trying my best.
I'm trying to come to the masjid.
I'm trying to do good.
I'm trying to be good Muslims and all
of that.
But it's difficult, it's hard.
If Allah ﷻ sees that you're sincere about
it, Allah ﷻ will give you hidayah.
It's a promise.
You do
your part, Allah ﷻ will give you tawfiq.
Right?
That's very important.
Allah knows that you have khayr in your
heart, Allah ﷻ will give you khayr.
Okay?
Allah sees our heart.
I don't see your heart.
You don't see my heart.
But Allah can see our hearts.
He saw the hearts of these three, the
companions of the Prophet ﷺ.
He knew they were sincere about their tawbah.
But he wanted to teach them a lesson.
And he wanted to teach the whole entire
ummah a lesson.
Right?
And anyone who is betraying our brothers and
sisters and our Muslims anywhere in the world,
Allah ﷻ will expose them.
They will be exposed.
Wallahi.
They will be exposed.
The map is clear.
What exactly they're looking for.
And that's the plan they're going ahead with.
And we know this.
We know this.
If you're silent today, it's going to be
your turn.
Right?
All we can do, inshallah, to make du
'a, improve ourselves, make du'a to Allah
ﷻ.
And please read surat al-tawbah.
I'm going to be done with surat al
-tawbah tomorrow, inshallah, or I think on Saturday.
Okay, I'll be done with surat al-tawbah.
But please do yourself a favor and recite
surat al-tawbah for two reasons.
Number one, surat al-tawbah will tell you
the ahdath, the events that's happening right now.
Allah ﷻ exposes the munafiqeen.
Wallahi.
I recite the ayat and I'm like, Allahu
akbar.
I see a picture in front of me.
All right?
If they have the intention to support, they
will support you.
All right?
They will support you.
That's it.
Yeah?
The second reason why we recite surat al
-tawbah, because when it comes to interacting, if
you talk to someone who has negative ideas
about Islam, one of the surahs that they
will try to use against you is surat
al-tawbah.
Because surat al-tawbah, yeah, it's very harsh.
But do you understand, like, why Allah ﷻ,
why your God tells you to go and,
you know, and cause violence?
Right?
They don't understand the context.
So they take the ayat from surat al
-tawbah and surat al-anfal, the one I
recited before.
They take the ayat from these two surahs
and tell you, hey, and they know the
numbers.
What about, can you tell me about surat
al-tawbah verse, let's say, 95 surat al
-tawbah.
What about this ayat?
And you read it and Allah ﷻ says,
you know, kill them all.
Do this.
Do that.
Cause violence.
Do all of these things.
Wow.
Look at that.
This is the original piece.
But when you actually read the tafsir and
you understand the context, you will understand, you'll
realize that Allah ﷻ speaks about al-munafiqeen.
How to interact with al-munafiqeen.
You know what is al-munafiqeen?
You cannot imagine that someone steps on your
back.
It's so painful because he's from you.
He's from amongst you.
He sits with you.
He attends your gatherings.
And he goes behind your back to ally
with the enemies.
Right?
Wallahi.
Subhanallah.
They're very dangerous.
Right?
So if Allah ﷻ tells the Prophet ﷺ,
when you interact, when you deal with them,
show no mercy.
Okay?
Some people will be like, oh, why?
Look at that.
No, it's a serious matter, brothers and sisters.
You cannot be chicken all the time.
You have to step up sometimes.
Right?
So the surah gives us all of these
lessons.
And we need to understand the context.
We need to educate ourselves about the book
of Allah ﷻ because the book of Allah
ﷻ is all rahmah and mercy from Allah
ﷻ.
Right?
So we ask Allah ﷻ to give us
the hidayah to make tawbah so He can
forgive us.
And we ask Allah ﷻ to make us
from those who recite the Quran, understand the
meanings of the Quran, and most importantly, implement
and apply the rulings of Quran in their
lives.
Ya Rabb al-'alameen.
Allahumma ameen.
Jazakum Allah khayran.
