Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest.
I bear witness that there is no god
but Allah.
I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger
of Allah.
Come to prayer, come to success.
Prayer has been established, prayer has been established.
Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest.
There is no god but Allah.
Allah is the greatest, Allah
is the greatest.
Allah is the greatest, Allah is the greatest.
Allah loves those who are mindful of Him.
How is it that when they appear before
you, they do not look at you with
concern, nor are they pleased with you with
their mouths, and their hearts refuse you, and
most of them are defiantly disobedient?
They have purchased the signs of Allah for
a small price, and they have averted them
from His path.
Indeed, evil is that which they used to
do.
They do not consider a believer to be
a god or a sin, and it is
they who are transgressors.
So if they repent and establish prayer and
give zakah, then they are your brothers in
religion.
And We detail the signs for a people
who know.
And if they break their oaths after their
covenant and transgress in your religion, then fight
the leaders of disbelief.
Indeed, they have no oaths for them, so
that they may desist.
Do you not fight a people who have
broken their oaths and are concerned about the
coming of the Messenger, and they have started
you the first time?
Do you fear them?
It is Allah's right that you should fear
Him, if you are believers.
Fight them, and Allah will punish them with
your own hands, and He will disgrace them,
and He will help you against them, and
He will heal the hearts of a believing
people, and He will remove the anger from
their hearts, and Allah forgives whom He wills,
and Allah is Knowing and Wise.
Or do you think that you will be
left alone, when Allah does not know those
of you who strive and do not take
besides Allah or His Messenger or the believers
as guardians?
And Allah is Aware of what you do.
It is not for the polytheists to build
the mosques of Allah, bearing witness against themselves
with disbelief.
It is they whose deeds have come to
naught, and in the Fire they will abide.
It is only those who believe in Allah
and the Last Day who build the mosques
of Allah, and establish prayer, and give zakah,
and do not fear except Allah.
It may be that they are of the
guided ones.
Have you made the building of the Hajj
and the building of the Sacred Mosque like
those who believe in Allah and the Last
Day and strive in the way of Allah?
They are not equal with Allah, and Allah
does not guide the wrongdoing people.
Those who believe and emigrate and strive in
the way of Allah with their wealth and
their lives are the greatest in rank with
Allah, and it is they who are the
winners.
Their Lord gives them glad tidings of mercy
from Him, and adornments and gardens for them,
in which there is everlasting pleasure.
They will abide therein forever.
Verily, Allah has with Him a great reward.
O you who believe!
Take not your fathers and your brothers as
allies, if they prefer disbelief to faith.
And whoever of you turns away from them,
it is they who are the wrongdoers.
Say, if your fathers, your sons, your brothers,
your spouses, your kinsmen, your wealth, which you
have acquired, and a trade which you fear
will be in vain, is it better for
you than Allah and His Messenger and striving
in His way?
So wait until Allah comes with His command,
and Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of
the worlds.
The Beneficent, the Merciful.
Master of the Day of Judgment.
It is You we worship and You we
ask for help.
Guide us to the straight path, the path
of those upon whom You have bestowed favor,
not of those who have incurred Your wrath,
nor of those who have gone astray.
Verily, Allah has helped you in many places.
And on the Day of Hunayn, when your
abundance pleased you, but it did not avail
you in the least, and the earth was
burdened upon you because of what it had
brought, then you turned your backs.
Then Allah sent down His tranquility upon His
Messenger and upon the believers, and sent down
hosts which you did not see, and punished
those who disbelieved.
And that is the recompense of the disbelievers.
Then after that Allah will forgive whomsoever He
will.
And Allah is Forgiving, Merciful.
O you who believe!
The polytheists are only impure, and the Sacred
Mosque will not be brought near after this
year of theirs.
And if you fear a family, then Allah
will avail you of His bounty, if He
wills.
Verily, Allah is Knowing, Wise.
Fight those who do not believe in Allah,
nor in the Last Day, and do not
forbid what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden,
and do not believe in the religion of
truth from those who have been given the
Book, until they are given the recompense in
full, and they are humiliated.
And the Jews said, O Uzair, son of
Allah.
And the Christians said, O Messiah, son of
Allah.
That is what they say with their mouths,
making light of the words of those who
disbelieved before.
Allah has fought them.
How can they be turned away?
They took their priests and monks as lords
besides Allah.
And the Messiah, son of Mary.
And they were commanded only to worship one
God.
There is no god but He, and exalted
is He above what they associate with Him.
They want to extinguish the light of Allah
with their mouths, and Allah will complete His
light, even if the disbelievers dislike it.
It is He who sent His Messenger with
guidance and the religion of truth, that He
may make it prevail over all religion, even
if the polytheists dislike it.
Allah is the Greatest.
Allah hears those who praise Him.
Allah is the Greatest.
Allah is the Greatest.
Allah is the Greatest.
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah.
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah.
As-salamu alaykum
wa
rahmatullah.
So, Surat al-Tawbah is one of my
most favorite surahs in the Quran.
And it's, subhanAllah, it's a ajeeb surah.
It's very ajeeb in so many different ways.
Surat al-Tawbah is the only surah that
didn't start with Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, right?
And there is a reason for that.
And Surat al-Tawbah, it has a lot
of names, like actually more than any other
surah in the Quran, right?
Surat al-Tawbah, of course, is the main
name that we know, and then you have
Surah al-Fadihah.
Al-Fadihah is the exposing surah, right?
And Surat al-Tawbah also is so ajeeb
that, although it speaks about al-kuffar wa
al-munafiqin, it's very serious.
Allah, subhanAllah, has said the tone from the
very beginning.
There is no mercy from the very beginning,
right?
There is no Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
The covenants and the contracts, and because of
the betrayal, the many betrayals that happened, right?
But despite all of that, that Allah, subhanAllah,
exposed al-munafiqin in almost every other ayah
in Surat al-Tawbah, you will realize something
very interesting.
The word al-Tawbah, which means repentance and
maghfirah and all of that, it was mentioned
in Surat al-Tawbah more than any other
surah in the Quran, subhanAllah.
Surat al-Tawbah.
See, Allah is speaking about al-kuffar wa
al-munafiqin, al-mushrikeen, and so on and
so forth.
But Allah mentioned the word al-Tawbah 17
times in Surat al-Tawbah.
17 times.
And that is, according to Mufassir, an indication
to something.
If Allah, subhanAllah, is talking to al-munafiqin,
al-mushrikeen, and al-kuffar, and so on
and so forth, but He's still giving everyone
a chance, an opportunity.
You know, if we repent back to Allah,
subhanAllah, they are your brothers.
SubhanAllah al-Azeem.
Even al-Tawbah, when it came to al
-Tawbah in regards to al-Muslimeen, we know
the story that we're going to recite probably
by tomorrow, inshaAllah, during the Ghazwa al-Tabuk.
And of course, we need the three companions
who excuse themselves from participating.
And the Prophet, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, and
the companions decide to boycott them and just
not interact with them until they make tawbah
to Allah, subhanAllah wa ta'ala.
Allah has given them, subhanAllah, tawbah so that
they can perform or ask for seek tawbah.
So al-Tawbah for al-munafiqin, al-Tawbah
for al-mushrikeen, al-Tawbah for everyone.
Allah mentioned this surah 17 times in a
surah that hasn't even started with bismillahirrahmanirrahim.
What does that tell you?
There is always a chance, there is always
an opportunity for everyone.
If Allah, subhanAllah wa ta'ala, has given
second chance and third chance and fourth chance
to the munafiqin, the hypocrites, and the mushrikeen
and the kuffar, what about the believers then,
subhanAllah?
And this is the biggest lesson that I
personally learned from surah al-Tawbah.
Of course, going through all of these ayat,
la yarkubuna fee mu'mineena illa wala dhimma wa
awlayka al-mu'taduna that Allah, subhanAllah wa ta
'ala, tells us that these people, when they
have power over you, they don't fear anything.
These people, they're ready to massacre you day
and night.
They don't care.
la yarkubuna fee mu'mineena illa wala dhimma The
worst kind of torture, the worst kind of
punishment, the worst kind of starvation, the worst
kind of anything, that is their nature when
they have some certain power.
That's why Allah, subhanAllah wa ta'ala says,
ala itqatiluna qawmana He's encouraging the believers, of
course, to fight and to be strong and
to build their armies and all of these
things and to prepare themselves.
Another thing, inshaAllah, to conclude with in surah
al-Tawbah, Allah, subhanAllah wa ta'ala spoke
about Ghazwat Hunayn or Ghazwat Tabuk, right?
Ghazwat Hunayn is, I said that I think
yesterday or the day before that, the only
Ghazwa, according to my knowledge, according to the
books of surah, is that the number of
believers outnumber the number of the enemies.
That's the only Ghazwa.
You saw Badr, Uhud, and any other Ghazwa,
usually the believers and the Muslimin, they're less.
And Allah has given them victory.
The only Ghazwa in the battle that Allah,
subhanAllah wa ta'ala, that the number of
the Muslimin were much higher than the enemies,
we actually lost.
All right?
In the beginning, wa yawma hunaynin idh a
'jabatkum kathratukum falam tughni'ankum shay'aa You
know, you're arrogant.
Look at us.
Like hundreds of thousands, and lannuglabal yawma min
qilla We'll never be defeated.
Look at us.
We have all kind of weapons.
Then Allah, subhanAllah wa ta'ala taught them
a very harsh lesson.
A lesson.
In the very beginning, they lost.
All right?
wa yawma hunaynin idh a'jabatkum kathratukum falam
tughni'ankum shay'aa wabaqat alaykum al-ardu
wa ma rahbat You are in a very
bad and very horrible situation.
bima rahatum ma ulaytum mudbeen And they're turning
away because you're losing really bad, right?
thumma anzala allahu sakinatahu ala rasooli Then Allah
brought down the sakinah, tranquility, and comfort, and
peace upon the messengers and the believers.
wa anzala junoodan lam tara Then Allah supported
them with soldiers, which you were unaware of.
And that tells us to always show humility
and put our trust in Allah, subhanAllah wa
ta'ala.
You don't have to have the strongest weapons
in the world to actually be victorious.
And don't get me wrong.
This doesn't mean that we should not prepare,
of course.
But Allah, subhanAllah wa ta'ala says, An
-Nasr usually comes from Allah, subhanAllah wa ta
'ala, from so many ways that we did
not even expect.
All right?
When you were strong in Hunayn, you did
not achieve victory in the beginning.
But in Badr, in Surat al-Anfal, you
were less, but Allah has given you a
victory.
The most important thing, trust in Allah, subhanAllah
wa ta'ala, to prepare yourself and to
do your part and leave the rest up
to Allah, subhanAllah wa ta'ala.
I really encourage everyone to connect with Surat
al-Tawbah.
Read Fidhalal al-Qur'an.
In the shade of Qur'an, it says,
Surat al-Tawbah, he's going to give you
another perspective for this surah.
In the shade of Qur'an is the
name of the Tafsir book.
You will learn a lot of things.
And so many other Tafsirs, of course.
Ask Allah, subhanAllah wa ta'ala, to make
us from those who have recited Qur'an
and understand the Qur'an and implement the
rulings of the Qur'an in their lives.
Allahumma ameen.
I say this and ask Allah's forgiveness for
you.
May Allah reward you well.
May Allah bless you.
