Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is
the Greatest.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah
is the Greatest.
I bear witness that there is none worthy
of worship except Allah.
I bear witness that there is none worthy
of worship except Allah.
I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger
of Allah.
I bear witness that Muhammad is the
Messenger of Allah.
Come to Prayer.
Come to
Prayer.
Come
to success.
Come to
success.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is
the Greatest.
I bear witness that there is none worthy
of worship except Allah.
If you look to the other side and
the other corner of this Mosalla, you will
see a box.
Some of you might notice that we have
janaza.
And this is your rizq today.
That Allah brought you to Jumu'ah where
there is janaza.
Because not only are you going to get
the reward of Salatul Jumu'ah, but also
you'll get the reward of praying Salatul Janaza.
And this is rizq from Allah.
The majority of you did not even plan
it out.
But Allah decided that you will come and
you'll get double reward.
So alhamdulillah for this rizq that I even
worked hard for.
And we know that thawab and ajr are
praying Salatul Jumu'ah.
So dear brothers and sisters, there is a
box in there.
And in that box, what we call a
nash.
It's a coffin basically.
There is a body in there.
And that body, and I will tell you
why I said the body.
I didn't mention the name.
But this is where inshallah I'm going to
explain a little bit.
There is a body for a brother whom
one day we were sitting together and eating
together.
Literally.
Sitting together, eating together.
So that coffin over there has a brother
who was a living person.
Just like you and I.
He had hopes, dreams, experiences in life.
He had families.
May Allah grant them sabr jameel.
Allahumma ameen.
He has gone through a lot of difficulties.
Yeah, a lot of challenges in his life.
It was a story.
This is not just a body in a
box.
It's much more than that.
What happened was, the death, or I can
say life, it took its course.
Right?
Nothing is changing by the way.
Nothing is changing.
There is a pause.
There is an interruption.
By the way, what I'm talking about now,
it's not even prepared.
That's not the khutbah.
That's just not the khutbah.
If you look at the flyer, that's not
the topic.
But obviously there is something in front of
us that we need to talk about.
And it's much more important than what I
was going to address.
Right?
Something interrupted the khutbah.
Interrupted the topic.
Interrupted the plan.
Not only my plan, but the plan for
the volunteers and for other brothers.
And we can talk about that later, inshallah.
That is death, brothers and sisters.
That's exactly death.
Death comes to anybody, anytime, as an interruption.
The way we look at death, and this
is what we need to change.
We need to change our perspective on how
we look at death.
The way we look at death as something
very scary, that's something that is going to
stop or discontinue life.
But let me tell you this.
What is happening to the brother today is
not that life is stopping.
It's just another phase of his life.
It's another phase.
But what happened?
There is a small interruption.
There is a small interruption for some time.
So when we look at death as something
scary, something that we have to always be
afraid of.
Like we're going to die.
We're going to be in pain.
You know, the only one who is in
pain now, we ask Allah SWT to give
him mercy, inshallah, him with his mercy.
We ask Allah SWT to make this day
the best day in his life.
If his amal was good, and inshallah, we
know that his amal was good.
The only one who is in pain today
is actually the family and the loved ones.
So death is not painful.
It's only painful to the people who are
not dead yet.
Do you understand?
Are you following?
So death is not a scary thing.
It just interrupts your life.
It comes out of nowhere, and you feel
like, wait a minute, what is going on?
All of a sudden, I'm in a different
world.
It just continues to your life.
So you should not worry.
You should not be worried about death.
Okay?
Death is a great event that we need
to reflect and we need to actually focus
on.
Death happens, it's so great that it happens
only once.
It only happens once.
Death is number one level or level one
of justice of Allah SWT.
Allah SWT is the ultimate just.
Yeah, we agree.
Number one dalil and evidence that Allah is
just is death.
That everyone eventually will return back to Allah
SWT.
It doesn't matter how powerful you were in
dunya.
It doesn't matter of the titles.
It doesn't matter what kind of position you
had.
It doesn't matter.
Everyone came to this dunya crying and started
smiling.
You came to this dunya crying.
Beautiful poem.
Right?
It says, it goes as this.
When you were born, you were crying, screaming.
And everyone around you was smiling and laughing.
So work hard for a day.
When the day comes, everyone around you will
be crying and screaming.
Make sure you are the one who's smiling
on that day.
That's wisdom here.
That should be our focus.
Don't worry about the pain.
Don't worry about the needles.
Don't worry about how you're going to die.
Allah SWT kept it hidden.
Neither you or I know how we're going
to die.
And this is from the mercy of Allah
SWT.
Wallahi.
It's from the mercy of Allah SWT that
he hid where, when, and how you're going
to die.
Imagine.
Imagine that Allah tells you how you're going
to die.
Muhammad will die on a car accident.
Guess what?
Muhammad will never drive a car.
Yeah?
He will never drive a car.
Your life will be in hold.
I'm not going to drive a car.
Alright?
But guess what?
Allah hid it from you.
You don't know.
He just told you.
إِنَّكَ مَيْتُوا وَإِنَّهُم مَيْتُونَ يا محمد صلى الله
عليه وسلم You will die and so will
they.
Period.
You cannot.
If this is reality and this is going
to happen to your brothers and sisters, don't
worry.
Don't be afraid.
You should only be afraid in one case.
If you're not ready to meet him.
We're on a journey.
Not to death.
This is not the end of the journey.
This is just half of the journey.
We're on a journey.
We're driving and driving and driving until we
reach Jannah.
May Allah make us from the people of
Jannah.
That's our journey.
Your destination, we think that that's the destination.
That's not the destination.
This is just a pause.
You know when you drive a car?
I'm just trying to give you an analogy
so you can just think with me.
You know when you drive a car on
a highway?
And then you say, you know what?
I just want to rest a little bit.
It's a service area.
It's a rest place.
You know?
I want to freshen up.
I want to eat something.
I want to just relax a little bit.
That's death.
There are some people, and I want you
to think about this, brothers and sisters.
There are some people who are in Alam
Al-Barzakh, which is the world of the
grave.
After death.
They are waiting in there.
This is like the service area.
They're just waiting until the day of judgment.
Think of Uthman ibn Affan radiallahu anhu.
Uthman ibn Affan radiallahu anhu died maybe 1400
years ago.
He has been waiting 1400 years ago, and
then he's going to continue.
When Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala decides that's
it, everyone is going to rush.
You know?
يوم يخرجون من الأجداث صراعة They're going to
be running out.
You know?
Everyone is going to run.
All of a sudden, the day of judgment.
Okay?
I want you to picture this in your
mind.
May Allah make it easy for us.
All right?
كنهم جراد منتشر You're going to be literally
running.
You don't know where to go.
What is going on?
Why everyone is running?
Why everyone is running?
Yeah?
You're just running with people, but you don't
know where to go.
Where is my family?
But where is everyone else?
Where are my loved ones?
Where is my mom?
Where is my dad?
Where is my kids?
Where are they?
They're not.
It's just you.
It's just you.
You're running.
You're running.
You're going to your final destination.
What is going on?
I thought I still have like, what?
Like 30, 40, 50 years to live.
What's going on?
And the مصيبة May Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala never let this happen.
If you're sleeping, and all of a sudden
you wake up, not for someone to say,
good morning, good evening, or someone says, who
is your lord?
What is your religion?
What?
What do you mean who is your lord?
What is that?
I'm on exam or something?
Yes, you're in test.
Dunya is over.
One brother met me in New York many
years ago.
He came from, you know, doing all kind
of haram to all kind of halal.
He said, sheikh, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
has given me one final chance.
I got into massive, massive, massive heart attack.
The doctors, they don't even know how I
survived.
They said, you're supposed to be dead right
now.
He said, Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala woke
me up.
I cannot imagine that I woke up and
I have two angels asking, what did you
do in this dunya?
Did you give the haq to your spouse?
Did you give the haq to your brother?
To your sister?
What about all the money that you earned
from halal and haram?
Imagine if you just sleep and wake up
and someone is literally asking you and you
cannot fool them.
You cannot say, no, it's not me.
No, it's not me.
You cannot say that.
You cannot lie to Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
It's like, no, you can lie to the
judge and the police officer but you can
never lie to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Brothers and sisters, it's very serious matter but
it's not scary.
You should be afraid if you're not ready.
If you stepped over people's shoulder at your
work, if you took the haq of your
sister or your brother, you should be worried.
But if you're good, if you're trying, if
you are improving yourself every single day, then
you should not be worried that you're going
to be in that box one day.
You should not.
Don't think that because you get concerned because
when you think, oh, I'm going to leave
my kids.
Don't worry about your kids.
Don't worry about your kids.
Allah will take care of them.
Many of us, our parents, my father passed
away when I was a few months old.
I've never seen him.
But I'm fine.
I'm fine, alhamdulillah, because the rizq is not
from my father.
It's from Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Allah will take care of your kids.
Just invest and make sure that when the
dead day comes, they're standing in your qabr
and they know what to say.
They remember your dua rather than going back
and fighting over the wealth that you collected
from right and left, from halal and haram.
Right?
The money that you collected for them thinking
that was going to give them safety and
security and you are in the box and
your kids are literally wasting your money in
one of the casinos.
Allahu akbar.
Can you imagine?
Can you imagine gathering money, gathering, collecting wealth
from halal and haram?
Not thinking that you're going to pay the
price.
There is a bill that will be paid
on the day of judgment.
Right?
There is a bill.
There is a bill.
There is an invoice.
You will get it on the day of
judgment.
You'll pay for everything.
So you collected the money from halal and
haram.
Right?
Leaving the money for them and because you
did not give them the proper tarbiyah and
education and you helped them to become righteous
people, they are using your money on casinos.
And you are in the box saying, what
is going on?
What am I going to do?
Only we should be scared if this is
the case.
But if we are righteous people, if we
follow the path of Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala, you should not be worried.
You should actually be waiting for that moment.
Wallahi.
You should be waiting.
Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wasalam when Jibreel alayhi wasalam
came to him towards the end of his
life and he gave him a choice.
He said, you have two options.
Either you live until the day of judgment
as much as you can.
Alright?
Or meet with Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
You know what the Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wasalam
said?
He said, No, no, no.
I don't want to handle this dunya.
I want to go back to Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
Alright?
من أحب لقاء الله أحب الله لقاءه.
You want to meet with Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala?
Allah will love this.
But if you are not happy because you're
going to meet Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala,
then Allah is not going to be happy
to meet with you.
So brothers and sisters, we need to change
our perspective when it comes to death.
It's not a scary thing.
It's not something that will bring sadness and
misery to you.
It's not.
It should not.
It should actually always honestly put you in
a check.
Am I doing the right thing?
Am I doing the right thing?
Am I doing what Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala has asked me to do?
Am I improving every day?
Am I helping the servants of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala?
Am I doing this?
The death is there for that reason.
It is there, right?
For that reason.
Because on that day, you're going to be
asked about everything.
Everything.
Everything.
So better, brothers and sisters, and I'm saying
that to myself, better leave this dunya light.
Not carrying a lot of, you know, a
lot of bags and a lot of things
on your shoulder.
Better.
Alright?
Stepping on your colleagues, aiding the haqq of
your family, fix this.
Wallahi, fix that.
Because you're going to pay the price.
Any shroud does not have a pocket.
If we were to open that box in
there, I promise, no pockets.
No pockets.
Right?
No pockets.
Go to Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala happily
and light.
Nabi sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he says, كن
في الدنيا كأنك غريب What does it mean?
Be in this dunya as a stranger.
Okay?
Or basically someone who is just passing by.
And I want to picture this in your
mind.
A stranger.
When you travel to another city, when you
travel to another country, alright?
Unless you're a sister, you don't want to
carry any bags.
But sisters, you may Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala give them hidayah inshallah.
They take the whole house with them.
Just kidding.
Alright?
But, what I'm seeing is, what I'm seeing
is, when you travel, you want to be
light.
I don't want to carry too much.
I don't want too much.
I don't know what's going to happen to
the flight.
It might be cancelled.
Something might go wrong.
I don't know if I'm going to find
a hotel or not.
I don't know what's going to happen.
I just want to go light.
This is how you should be in dunya.
Knowing that, and even if you're not comfortable
when you travel, the bed is not comfortable.
You know what?
It's just a few days.
We'll go back.
We'll go back to our home.
That's what Rasulallah ﷺ is telling you and
I.
It's a few days.
Fifty years, nothing.
You go by like that.
Eighty years, nothing.
You go by like that.
Alright?
Think of the last ten years of your
life.
You barely remember anything.
As if it happened just tomorrow.
So brothers and sisters, the purpose of this
khutbah and the objective of this khutbah is
just kind of shift your perspective and change
your perspective about death.
Allah ﷻ mentioned death before life.
He said, الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ لِيَبْلُوَكُمْ أَيُّكُمْ
أَحْسَنُ عَمَلًا Surat al-Mulk.
The one who created death and life.
We were dead before we came to this
dunya and we're going to die again.
We came out of nowhere, right?
We came out of…
we were nothing.
هَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ حِينٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ
يَكُنْ شَيْءً مَّذْكُورًا You were nothing.
You just came out of smolting, right?
Yeah?
So and we're going back to Allah ﷻ.
الَّذِي خَلَقَ الْمَوْتَ وَالْحَيَاةَ He gave you life.
And death is not going to discontinue your
hayat.
It's just going to give you another hayat.
And that hayat, you have the choice to
make it a good, lasting, happy hayat or
miserable hayat.
God forbid.
May Allah protect us.
It is your choice.
We are in this dunya like in a
train.
All of us are in this train.
Stops will come after another stop.
The brother, brother Zafroun may Allah ﷻ give
him maghfirah, his stop, he reached his stop.
So he's out.
It could be me next.
It could be you next.
But all of us are in this train.
Right?
That's dunya.
Think of a dunya as a train.
The stop will come.
Or the highway.
The exit will come.
You will exit.
If this is reality, why are we even
bothering too much?
Why are we fighting so much for this
dunya?
Why?
What is the reason for that?
If we know that we're just going to
leave, and we have examples, Allah ﷻ has
shown us examples.
I'm telling you, I started my khutbah by
literally asking you to look at the brother.
Alright?
The mayyit.
And by the way, I used his name
once because death also does that for a
hikmah, for a reason.
When you die, you're stripped from everything, your
name.
And instead of calling you, you know, Muhammad,
Mahmoud, Fatima, Zainab, whatever, they call you mayyit.
The mayyit is right there.
Get the box.
Get the mayyit.
Get the coffin.
You're stripped also from your title.
There is no doctor.
Nobody sees doctor now.
Nobody sees engineer.
Nobody sees lawyer.
Khalas.
Everyone is the same.
And when you go to the graveyard, you
cannot identify who is this and who is
that.
Who is engineer and who is...
Khalas.
Everyone is the same.
Why don't we like death if that's the
case?
If that's the case, that's justice.
Justice.
We came to this dunya naked.
Nothing.
Alright?
And we're leaving this dunya naked.
Nothing.
It is so ajib.
You come as a child.
Alright?
And then you start rising, standing up a
little bit, becoming a man.
And then again, your back is subhanAllah.
You cannot even stand.
And then you sit again.
And some people, may Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala give health to everyone.
You start wearing, may Allah honor you, diaper
when you're young and then diaper when you're
old also.
What is this?
Right?
That's dunya, brothers and sisters.
Say this.
And I ask Allah to forgive me and
you.
All praise is due to Allah, and my
prayer and peace be upon His servants who
have chosen.
I bear witness that there is no god
but Allah, and there is no partner but
Him.
And I bear witness that Muhammad is His
servant and Messenger.
And after that...
JazakAllah khair.
I'm sorry.
So brothers and sisters, I want you to
just reflect because Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
brought each and everyone today to this masjid
for a hikmah, for a reason.
That wasn't going to be the main topic,
but obviously there is janazah, and we need
to reflect on that.
And we need to, you know, we need
to change our perspective a little bit.
We should not be afraid of death because
you're going to meet Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala.
Death will change the dynamic of life.
And this is part...
It's a process.
It's a process.
And all of us are going to go
through this process.
Death happens within us every single day.
Your blood cells, they die.
Your skin, it also dies and keeps on
changing.
Look at the seasons.
Look at the fall.
Look at the spring.
This is...
This is...
That's a natural thing.
It happens.
Alright?
But remember, I'll conclude what I started my
khutbah with.
When you came to this dunya, brothers and
sisters, you were crying and everyone else was
smiling because of your presence.
Make sure when you depart this dunya, that
while everyone else is crying, you are the
one who's smiling.
I want you to think.
Don't...
Allah brought you for a reason.
I want you to think of the huquq
al-ibad.
huquq al-ibad.
The rights of the people.
Because Allah, you see, you did not pray
for some time of your life.
Allah can forgive this.
I'm not saying that it's not important.
But if you say astaghfirullah, astaghfirullah.
But aiding people's wealth and haqq, right?
This is very dangerous.
Giving zulm to your wife or your husband,
this is very dangerous.
Aiding the haqq of your sister, the inheritance
of your brother and your sister, thinking that
you are smart, thinking that now you're rich,
this is very dangerous.
Because that, Allah will not forgive until people
forgive.
Be in this dunya as if you are
a traveler.
You don't want to take too many suitcases.
You don't want luggages with you.
You want to go.
When you are in that box, you want
to be light.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala give maghfirah
to brother Zafr, may Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala make this day the best day in
his life.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
give his soul maghfirah, to show his soul
maghfirah.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
make his sickness in the scale of his
record and hasanat, ya rabbal alameen.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
be generous to him tonight.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala al
-karim, the most generous, to be generous with
him tonight.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
forgive his shortcomings in dunya.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
forgive his shortcomings in dunya.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
forgive his sins in dunya.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
give him maghfirah.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
feed him from the hands of the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wa sallam.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
unite him with the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa
sallam.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
allow him to see his place in Jannat
al-Firdaws tonight.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
make it easy for him.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
allow him to answer the questions of the
angel easily and peacefully.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
grant sabr jameel to the family.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
give them sabr jameel.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
give them sabr jameel.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
forgive our parents.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
forgive our parents.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
forgive our loved ones.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
forgive our loved ones.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
unite all of us with them in Jannat
al-Firdaws.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
heal and give peace to anyone who is
struggling with grieving.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
make the process easy.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
make us amongst those who love meeting him.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
make us amongst those who leave this dunya
light without any luggages.
We ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
give us sitr jameel to cover our shortcomings.
Allahumma aghfirlana warhamna wa aafina wa aafu anna
Allahumma arhamna birahmatika alwasia Ya Rabb al-alameen
taqabbal minna innaka anta as-samee'u al
-alim wa turb alayna innaka anta al-tawwab
al-raheem wa aqeem al-salaam Allahu
Akbar, Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar I
bear witness that there is no god but
Allah I bear witness that there is no
god but Allah I bear witness that Muhammad
is the Messenger of Allah I bear witness
that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah Come
to prayer, come to prayer Come to success,
come to success The time of prayer has
come, the time of prayer has come Allahu

Allah
Astaghfirullah
