Salah Mahmoud – If You See Something Say Something
AI: Summary ©
The importance of Islam is discussed, including the belief that Islam is God alone and that anyone claims to be the father of Islam should not be the same. The definition of "naught" is not just a gender or a male or female, but a person who is a woman with a certain appearance. The importance of manhood and pride in oneself is emphasized, along with the need for pride in oneself and being true to oneself and others. The Q disclosure uses "naught" to describe the qualities of men, including responsibility, love, and bravery, and the importance of giving back to the United States of America and the peace. The upcoming night is also discussed, including the importance of giving back to the people of the United States of America and the dinner dinner.
AI: Summary ©
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
I bear witness that there is none worthy
of worship except Allah.
And I bear witness that Muhammad is the
Messenger of Allah.
All praise is due
to Allah.
We praise Him, we beseech help from Him
and ask His protection.
We seek refuge in Allah from the evils
of our souls and from the bad results
of our deeds.
Whomsoever He guides on the right path, none
can misguide him.
And whosoever He declares misled, none can find
a guardian over him.
O you who have believed, fear Allah as
He should be feared, and do not die
except as Muslims.
O you who have believed, fear your Lord,
Who created you from one soul and created
from it a wife, and spread among them
many men and women.
And fear Allah in Whom you ask for
help and mercy.
Verily, Allah watches over you.
O you who have believed, fear Allah and
say the truth.
He will set right your deeds and forgive
you your sins.
And whosoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has
won a great triumph.
And I bear witness that there is no
god but Allah, alone, with no partner.
It is a Word upon which the earth
and the heavens were established.
And Allah has created humanity upon it.
And it is the basis of the law
and the Sunnah.
And whoever is the last of his words,
there is no god but Allah, he will
enter Paradise.
O Allah, we ask You to make the
last of our words in this world, there
is no god but Allah.
O Allah, grant us to live for there
is no god but Allah.
And grant us to die for there is
no god but Allah.
And grant us to be resurrected for there
is no god but Allah.
And grant us to enter Paradise, and we
bear witness that there is no god but
Allah.
And I bear witness that our Master, our
Prophet, our Teacher, our Beloved, and our Intercessor
on the Day of Resurrection is Allah.
Our Master Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon
him.
O Allah, send peace and blessings upon him
and upon his family and companions.
And may Allah be pleased with our Masters,
Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, and Ali.
And with all the Companions, and with us
all, O Lord of the Worlds.
After this, in the beginning, the humble request
from the brothers and sisters who are using
the cell phones, please put your cell phone
away.
You probably heard this from me a thousand
times now.
But I always, always remind you.
You know why?
Because I care for you.
Because I want to make sure that when
you come in the Day of Judgment, and
Allah tells you that on that day you
did not go for Salat al-Jum'ah
or that Jum'ah doesn't count for you,
you will understand that my nasiha is very
precious.
You will tell him, O Allah, alhamdulillah that
I listened to the nasiha, the advice from
the Imam, and I put my phone away.
Because according to the fuqaha, the scholars, brothers
and sisters, if you're using your phone while
the Imam is talking, your Salat is invalid.
Literally.
Is that serious?
Right?
You're not even allowed to say salamu alaykum
to someone.
Well, let me tell you something.
You're not even allowed to recite Quran while
the Imam is talking.
Right?
And as I always say, subhanAllah, as a
joke, you're not checking your phone for 20
minutes or 30 minutes, I promise, the stock
market will be the same and nothing will
change.
The economy is not going to feel any
difference.
Not that you're not significant, astaghfirullah, but that's
the reality of it.
Life will continue.
SubhanAllah.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala bless you.
Ameen.
So, I'm very passionate about Quran.
And I like to really track the patterns
of Quran.
Certain words, certain patterns, certain stories, why Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala used that word or
this word in that particular place and so
on and so forth.
And one of the things I've been analyzing
and examining in Quran, the words of the
Quran, is the word rajul.
Rajul is not a gender.
It's not just a gender.
Like, although in Arabic, if you translate, rajul
will mean a man, okay?
But as we all know, brothers and sisters,
every man is a male, but not every
male is a man.
Male is different from a man.
We agree, right?
Masculinity is different from manhood.
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentioned both of
them in the Quran, masculinity and also he
mentioned manhood.
But I was very curious to track the
word manhood or the word man in Quran
to see what Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
is trying to tell us.
What are the qualities of this man?
So, I noticed that every time Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala speaks about the word male
in the Quran, dhakar, he talks about dunya
matter, dunya-related matter, something related to this
dunya or this world.
Like, for example, when Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala speaks about the inheritance, for the male,
you know, double shares of the female, for
example.
All about the creation.
O people, We created you from male and
female.
That's the word male, dhakar.
But when it comes to the word man,
the narrative is completely different.
So, let's take them, try insha'Allah, to
take them one by one and see what
are the qualities of men in the Quran
as Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala mentioned them.
The first equality, brothers and sisters, is strength
and reliance on Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
Being a man, it means that you are
strong, right?
You're resilient.
You have sabr, you have tawakkul, Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
Musa alayhi salam, after Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala saved him from Fir'aun, the tyrant.
Musa alayhi salam was commanded to go back
to Masjid al-Aqsa, to Palestine.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala free Masjid
al-Aqsa.
Ameen.
So, what did they say?
They were scared.
After Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala showed them
the miracle, they suffered and drowned right in
front of their eyes, but they're still saying,
Ya Musa, you know,
There are people over there, al-'amalika, they're giants.
We cannot defeat these people.
You and your Lord
just go, have fun.
We love Egypt.
We're from this country.
We're saying we're not going anywhere.
We're not following the commands of Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
Then, these are meals, okay?
But the real man said, قَالَ رَجُلَانِ Two
men, only two men.
Two men stood up and said, People, you
need two men up.
Just
say, bismillah, and you will be victorious inshallah.
And rely on Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala.
Two men, two men, they
stood up.
The rest are males.
This one's are men.
So as a man, you're someone who's resilient,
someone who's strong, someone who only fears Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala.
And that's what we need to instill in
our children.
You know the problem is that?
With our children, and I know because it's
the system in the country, that your son
is 17 and he's 18 and 20 and
you still don't call him a kid.
He's a kid.
Someone standing next to you is taller than
you.
Right?
Not working.
Not bringing money to the family.
Not helping the household.
Not folding their bed.
Everything's being done to them.
Why?
He's a kid.
A kid.
18 year old or 20 year old.
Two, three years gonna graduate college.
Right?
And then guess what?
He will have to deal with the society.
But in his mindset, he's a kid.
You know who's struggling and who's suffering?
And I'll be very blunt about it and
I'll be very honest with you.
Our females.
Our daughters.
Why?
Because by that time, the girl usually is
much more mature than the boy.
Much more mature.
Right?
Masha'Allah, she's 24, 25, graduating college and
the guy's 24, 25, but he's still in
his mind, I'm still a kid, I'm living
with my family.
Right?
That's the reality.
That's why when they try to get married,
what happens?
They don't last for a long time.
Marriages break apart.
Why?
Because we did not raise men, we raised
kids.
And that has to change, brothers and sisters.
Two men stood up and they said, just
go with Musa.
Don't disobey the command of Allah SWT.
Fast forward.
The word manhood or man in Quran, it
came when Allah SWT speaks about responsibility.
The men, they have this Qawwamah upon women,
upon their wives, their spouses.
Qawwamah.
The word Qawwamah, and I want you to
pay attention to that.
The word Qawwamah, a lot of men, they
take it as superiority.
You know, like I'm superior to my wife,
she has to listen to me.
Wallahi, the word Qawwamah is the biggest trap
for the man.
The biggest trap for the man.
It's a trap.
I'm not saying, Astaghfirullah, Allah SWT, but it's
a trap if you understand it.
If you fully understand it, it's a trap.
It's a responsibility.
Allah SWT says, you're in charge of your
spouse, taking care of her financially, emotionally, physically,
right?
And take care of your children.
You have to deal with her mood swings.
You have to deal with everything because you're
the man, you're the Qawwam.
Right?
Sometimes you're being mistreated, but you have to
deal with that because you're the captain of
the ship.
Because you're the Qawwam.
Being Qawwam doesn't mean you just raise your
voice, mistreat her.
That is not Qawwamah.
That is not Qawwamah.
Qawwamah means responsibility.
Allah SWT says, ar-rijal.
So the question is, are you a male
or a man?
If you're a man, then Alhamdulillah, take care
of your responsibility.
The responsibility that Allah SWT has given you,
right?
When we tell the brother, take care of
your wife financially.
The one nasiha that I give to the
brothers, if you do not have to ask
your wife for money, do not ask her
for money.
If you do not, I repeat this again.
If you do not, even if she works,
sheikh, but you know she needs to help.
If she voluntarily helps in the household, Alhamdulillah,
nurun ala nur.
But do not force her.
You're working, you have to pay for the
house.
Listen to this from a brother, from an
imam who deals with a lot of marital
issues.
The moment you ask your wife for money
and to pay for her income, you're losing
a lot of other things.
Your qawamah will be taken away in a
way or the other.
I want you to highlight what I'm saying
right now, and that's a different topic.
So another place where Allah SWT spoke about
manhood in Quran is al-qawamah, responsibility.
Moving forward, just for the sake of the
time, inshallah, truthfulness and loyalty.
A man is truthful to himself, to the
community, to Allah SWT.
Allah SWT described the Sahaba of the Prophet
SAW, he said, مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ رِجَالٌ صَدَقُوا مَا
Among the believers are men
who have been true to their covenant with
Allah SWT.
They never turn
back.
During the Battle of Badr, the Sahaba, some
of the companions of the Prophet SAW, they
said, they reminded Rasulullah SAW with the Ashab,
the companions of Musa, when they said, يا
موسى, go fight by yourself.
We are seeing here, the companions of the
Prophet SAW, they said, يا رسول الله, we
were not going to say like the people
of Musa, the companions of Musa, but we
will say, we will be with you, we
will be going with you, يا رسول الله.
So Allah SWT said, صَدَقُوا, they were truthful
to Allah, to their amanah, and to the
ahd and the covenant of Allah SWT.
Fast forward, talking about the qualities of men
in the Qur'an, purification and righteousness.
Allah was talking about a masjid, and He
They purify
themselves, not just physically, but spiritually.
They purify their hearts from all kind of
evils, right?
They purify their hearts from envy.
They purify their hearts from harming others.
This is المتطهرين.
These are the real men, brothers and sisters.
Aman and gossip, it doesn't work this way.
I'm a man, but I like to cause
fitna between people.
Allah SWT says in the Qur'an, this
is not one of the qualities of a
man.
Moving forward, attachment to the masjid.
Allah SWT mentioned the word man in the
Qur'an when He talks about the masjid.
Those
are the men who remember Allah SWT in
the masjid.
Those are the men that when صلاة الجمعة
is in session, they're not sitting home.
You know how many brothers, they don't have
work right now.
They don't have work, but they're sitting home
and they're Muslims a lot.
But Allah SWT selected you.
He said, one of the qualities of the
real men that when it's time for Jum
'ah, they come.
Allah SWT tells women to stay home.
You can pray at home.
It's fine.
It's allowed.
You want to come to the masjid?
خير.
But if you pray at home, it's fine.
But you have some brothers also sitting home,
right?
There is a big difference between a male
and a man.
Their
businesses, don't take them away.
The couple hundred, a couple thousand bucks that
we'll earn during صلاة الجمعة, they will get
them physically, but the barakah will be taken
away because they did not give the حق,
the right of Allah SWT.
Yes, physically.
Your bank account, mashaAllah, is increasing.
But where is the barakah?
Where is the blessing from Allah SWT?
There are so many qualities, brothers and sisters.
Time is always against us.
After the break, inshaAllah, we continue.
Of the qualities of men and manhood
in Qur'an is that they're always positive.
All right?
There was a sign in New York in
the subway.
Whoever lived in New York City before, you
find it in the steps on the subway.
It's usually yellow.
I remember it very well.
It says, if you see something, say something.
Which means that if you see something wrong,
you have to correct it.
All right?
You have to report.
Yeah?
So the men in the Qur'an, if
we track the word men in the Qur
'an, we'll find that these people, when they
see something wrong, they always talk about it.
There's so many examples.
I will share some, just a few of
them.
Musa Alayhis Salaam.
Musa Alayhis Salaam, he was being chased by
Fir'aun, by the people, his people in
Egypt.
Right?
A man came all the way from the
farthest part of the town to advise Musa
Alayhis Salaam to warn him.
man came from the farthest part of the
town.
He said, Ya Musa, Ya Musa.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala describes him.
He was running away.
He was running.
He was actually running to Musa Alayhis Salaam
because he saw that something wrong against Musa
Alayhis Salaam.
Immediately, he wanted to say something.
He saw something and now it's time to
say something.
care for you, Ya Musa.
Leave this town.
Leave this town right now.
It's very dangerous for you.
Right?
And I will take you to Surah Yasin.
A man came from the
farthest part of the town.
He's warning his people.
Listen to the messengers and the prophets.
Listen to the prophets of Allah Azza wa
Jal.
He saw something wrong from his people and
he is saying something.
Right?
Can you imagine someone from,
you know, the Hashia of Firaun, from the
family of Firaun, from the closest people of
Firaun.
He sees what they're saying about Musa Alayhi
Salaam and he stands up.
Are you trying to kill and get rid
of a man who just because he says
Allah is my Lord?
Can you imagine?
I want you to picture this in your
mind.
Firaun, I don't want to, we have so
many tyrants in the world.
Okay?
But I want you to picture someone like
the worst that you've ever heard.
Yeah?
You've heard of.
Someone, only one person, one man, he stood
in front of him.
And he said, what would you do that
to someone?
He's trying to make you guys better.
He's improving your situation.
Because of that you want to get rid
of him?
Shame on you.
He saw something and he's seeing something.
So when you're a man, when you see
something wrong, you don't say it's not my
business.
You know?
One of the biggest trap of shaitan in
this country for us is like it's not
my business.
You know?
Who am I to judge?
Maybe he is better in the sight of
Allah SWT.
Maybe Allah loves him more.
Who am I to tell him go pray?
Who am I to tell him stop smoking?
Who am I to tell him do this
and don't do that?
Or don't party, don't go do haram things.
Who am I to tell him this?
Allah SWT says, you were the best ummah
because you correct the wrong.
When you see something wrong, you talk about
it.
When you see something, you say something.
So that man, brothers and sisters, he saw
something happening and he immediately, he tried to
correct it.
Do you know even the birds and animals,
they were actually very positive in Quran?
Did you hear about the ant of Sulaiman?
When the ant, when Allah SWT has given
this power to Sulaiman AS, the ant is
coming forward.
I mean, Sulaiman is coming forward with his
army.
And the ant sees that.
What did she do?
She saw something wrong.
She spoke up.
She said, O ants, let's go from here.
It's a dangerous situation.
Even the ant, it was positive.
Brothers and sisters, there are other many qualities,
but there is no time.
I will end with this.
And where I'm going with that.
Allah SWT brought us to this country for
a reason.
Allah SWT chose the perfect time for you
to be in this country.
If you think that, and the perfect time
to be a Muslim.
If you think that Allah chose the wrong
time for you, wallahi, you're wrong.
All right?
If you prefer that you were at the
time of the Prophet SAW, let me tell
you that.
Abu Lahab was the time of the Prophet
SAW.
It could be Abu Lahab.
Allah brought us here for a reason.
All right?
And unless we make change here in this
country, we're not going to move forward.
Right?
We're not going to move forward.
Now, the election is coming.
And it is very serious.
I know a lot of us are disappointed.
A lot of us, we feel like they're
in a very difficult situation.
Should I go here or go there?
You know what?
I'm just going to be from what's called
Hezbollah Canada, still in my couch.
The couch party, they call them.
Right?
I'm just not going to do anything.
Look, November 5th will shape this country.
And you and I are men.
You and I, we see something, and we
should say something.
Right?
We should talk.
We should raise our voices.
Until when we're going to be crying because
of Gaza?
Until when?
We've cried enough.
We've made enough dua, wallahi.
We've made enough dua.
We cried so much in this member, in
this mihrab.
But until when we're going to be crying?
Until when?
Until when we're going to be crying, brothers
and sisters?
I'm so sorry.
I know I'm taking a couple more minutes,
but this is very important.
Right?
Until when are we going to be crying?
Dua?
The people of Gaza do not need our
dua anymore.
Allah swt answers the dua automatically.
Right?
They're oppressed.
But we're here.
We're in the United States of America, and
we don't know what we do, what we're
going to do to change.
Many of us, you see at the doorstep,
how many flyers people try to give you?
These are candidates, right?
Why they're here?
Why are they here?
Because they know that your voice counts.
They want your voice.
Yeah?
They want your vote.
They want it.
Right?
They want it.
And guess what?
If you do not give it to them,
if you do not even go, these people
are not going to even care about you.
This guy is not even positive.
The Quran says, when you see something, say
something.
But they're not doing anything.
They're just sitting, saying, yeah, Allah help our
brothers, sisters in Gaza.
That's it.
That's all what they're going to do.
All right?
But that's not brothers and sisters.
This is not what we're supposed to do.
As men, as women, as Muslims, we have
to be positive.
The aunt of Sulaiman is not better than
us.
The aunt is not better than us.
We have the brain.
I know the question, Sheikh, but we don't
know which direction should we go.
Do your homework.
I am not in a position to endorse
anyone.
You know that.
I don't want to go to jail.
All right?
I'm not allowed to endorse anyone.
But do your part.
We have a lot of Muslim organizations.
Alhamdulillah, they gathered some of the candidates.
All right?
They gathered some of the candidates.
They're endorsing them.
Find them.
They've done their homework.
Alhamdulillah.
Do your work.
And instead of saying, I don't know how
my vote go to whom, ask and find
out.
And before November 5th, you need to say
something, at least on the Day of Judgment.
When Allah SWT asks you, you'll say, Ya
Allah, I saw something wrong, and I tried
to do something.
And that's one of the biggest and the
greatest qualities of men in Quran.
We ask Allah SWT to make it easy
for our brothers and sisters in Gaza, Lebanon,
and everywhere in the Islamic world.
O Allah, forgive us and have mercy on
us.
O Allah, forgive us and have mercy on
us.
O Allah, have mercy on us with Your
vast mercy.
Accept from us.
You are the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing.
And forgive us.
You are the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
And establish the prayer.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest.
I bear witness that there is no god
but Allah.
I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger
of Allah.
Come to prayer, come to success.
The prayer has been established, the prayer has
been established.
Allah is the Greatest, Allah is the Greatest.
I bear witness that there is no god
but Allah.
May your prayer be accepted.
Pray, pray, and bid farewell.
