We bid you a Ramadan Kareem
as we commence our theme for this Ramadan.
Developing a Quranic personality,
how to be
and what not to be.
May Allah inspire us
to be the best that we can be
inshallah.
As we enter another unusual Ramadan
through an extraordinary
pandemic,
we who are fasting
are embarking on a spiritual journey.
A journey of heightened spiritual consciousness
of moral development.
And in fact Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala refers
to the people who are fasting in the
Quran as as a own spiritual travelers.
As we reflect on our lives and the
lives of those around us,
we are aware of so many that we
have lost during COVID 19.
And all of us realize that all of
us together
are journeying through this life into the next.
And the prophet said,
deed, the example of the world and myself
is like a traveling rider
who seeks a shade somewhere and he comes
under a tree for a short while
and then he moves on. That is
myself in relation to the world.
Said, Nadi Karamalahuwaja
contextualize
the reality of our stay on earth in
the following beautiful words. He said,
He said, remember that this world which you
desire so urgently
and attempt to acquire
so earnestly,
and which sometimes
annoys you and sometimes gives you happiness,
this world is neither your home nor your
permanent residence.
Then he said,
This world should neither remain with you forever,
nor are you gonna stay in it eternally.
So therefore,
try to advance from this world
towards the hereafter.
That hereafter
to which you are invited
and to which there will be eternal bliss.
So the lesson for tonight,
it's be something, do not be something else.
Do not be of those.
Do not be like those
who consider themselves
permanent residents in this world.
Do not consider yourself
as permanent resident in the world,
rather consider yourself Rek Rasoolullah said,
Be in this world as if you are
a traveler or a passerby.
Remembering the fact that this life is a
journey, and that this world
is not the destination.
