We continue our theme,
developing a Quranic personality,
how to be and what not to be.
The world seems so devoid of beauty.
It appears so full with anger, with hatred,
with intolerance, with injustice,
with oppression,
with indifference.
It seems the world needs the exquisite light
of beauty.
Beauty that may bring beautiful rays into the
negativity
and the darkness that is so pervasive
in all around us.
You see Allah says in the
Quran Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala created the human
being
in the best possible way, in the finest
stature,
in the most appropriate of forms.
And not only that, the entire universe has
been created
in proportion,
with due measure,
beautiful
both qualitatively
and quantitatively.
And the traces of divine wisdom
and beautiful planning
is reflected
and underpins each and every one of Allah's
creation. And that's why
we find Allah is beautiful Himself
and He loves beauty.
Adam Iqbal
went to the masjid of Khurutba there in
in Spain, and bemoaned, look at the beautiful
structure the Muslims built. And of course we
lost it in Spain. But none the less,
look at the beauty of the muslims, and
the architecture, and the art, and the people
who were involved. And he said,
Basically he's trying to say, whatever of beauty
possessed
or developed by the righteous is proof of
the manifestation
of Divine beauty.
So whatever is connected to Allah, the source
of beauty, itself become
of of beauty.
And if we do not imbibe beauty
within ourselves,
we will not be able to appreciate beauty
around us. And that's why they
say,
If the one a person is devoid of
beauty himself, he will not able to see
beauty all around him. And the poet wrote,
He said, O complainer,
O fault finder,
what is your problem and what is your
ailment?
Imbuy beauty in yourself
and you'll see beauty everywhere around you.
Some people are unable to appreciate beauty because
they lack beauty within themselves.
Allah loves human beings to beautify
their tongues with the haqq, with truth. To
beautify their minds with sound aqr, with reasoning.
Allah
loves us to beautify our intentions with ikhlasunniya,
with sincerity of intention and devotion. Devotion. To
beautify our hearts with Mahaba, with love. To
beautify
our being with good character. To beautify our
bodies through cleanliness,
and to beautify our acts
by engaging in acts of goodness.
And to this end, Imam al Shafi'i Rahimahullah
prayed the famous prayer.
Oh, Allah,
enrich us through knowledge.
O Allah, enrich us through knowledge. Adorn us
with humility.
Oh Allah, honor us through piety
and beautify
us with the ability to forgive.
So, we as people of faith, in particularly
in this Ramadan, as we are on a
spiritual journey
of elevating ourselves
of moral rejuvenation and spiritual purification.
We must resolve to improve ourselves from within.
Let beauty emanate from our very souls.
And let that beauty be reflected in our
behavior, in our actions, in our interactions. Let
it be reflected in our lives.
So that when people see a Muslim,
they see a reflection
of the beauty of Islam.
