AI: Summary ©
Alhamdulillah, we finished off now a bulk of a dimension from the
seer of the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam and many of the
companions that were otherwise unknown, specifically from POF and
one of the things that I want to do at this phase of the first is
introduce you to different dimensions of converts, right? So
different groupings of people who embraced Islam, particularly now
we're looking at the end of the life of the prophet Sallallahu
Sallam and that batch of converts that comes in here. And so we
talked about the enemies of the Prophet salallahu Alaihe wa salam,
who held out until the very end. We talked about the family of the
Prophet sallallahu Sallam that held out until the end. Then we
spoke about now those who embraced Islam from BAA so what we're going
to do now inshallah is actually look at those that attempted to
assassinate the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, so people who
came within inches of actually murdering the Prophet sallallahu,
alayhi wa sallam, and who Allah, subhanaw taala guided their hearts
to Islam. And it's a very interesting bulk of biographies.
And then what I want to do, bid Nana, is look at some of the
chiefs that embraced Islam from outside. So you kind of have the
dimension of Amul wufoud The year of delegations and some of the
chiefs that came from outside later on and embraced Islam with
the Prophet sallallahu, alaihi wasallam. So tonight, biddin
ahita, we're actually going to cover two companions together,
because their stories are so inseparable, and usually you only
get a glimpse of the story of one of them, but to bring them
together within ahita Allah allows us to understand this particular
group of people. And we'll probably cover an entire lecture
just on those that try to assassinate the prophets. Lie some
and we only have a paragraph about them in the seat of the Prophet
salmon, so you can see the way that he interacted with each of
those people as literally, they're within inches of putting a dagger
through the Messenger of Allah. So the two people that we're going to
talk about today are Omair Ibn Wahab, RadiAllahu talaanu and
Safwan Ibn umayyah. RadiAllahu Taala Anu, ramayr ibn Wahab and
Safwan Ibn umayyah. Now I want to give a little bit of background.
So obviously, in the beginning, this is where the note takers get
to take some notes, and everybody else gets lost with the tribe
names. The name of the tribe is Benu Jumah, Bennu Juma. And so
when you hear someone as jumahi, like abima Dora Juma is a tribe
from Quraysh, and it has wider implications in the region at the
time. So Bennu Juma has several famous, you know, villains and
heroes from the Sirach, but first and foremost, the villains,
umayyah ibn Khalaf. Umayyah ibn Khalaf, who, of course, is the
father of Safwan, who we're going to be speaking about inshallah.
But umayyah was most famous for his torture of Bilal or the Allahu
Tala anho, and Umayyad nuhalaf is the chief of Banu Juma.
Now there's something very important here, for those of you
that read in the history or you're listening to a khutbah when you
hear Benu umayyah. Ben uma has nothing to do with umayyah ibn
Khalaf. It's actually a misconception. I see it sometimes
even when some of the secondary writers of Sira, when they're not
looking at the primary sources, Benu umayyah has nothing to do
with Umayyad nuhalaf. That's a sub tribe of Banu adjems. So Benu
Jumah is its own separate tribe. Umayyah nukhalaf is the chief of
the tribe of Juma. So umayyah ibn Khalaf al jumahi, and this tribe
is one of the elite tribes of Mecca, smaller in number, but very
much so of the nobles distinguished by their wealth.
They had the responsibility of perfuming all of the idols, and
they largely ran the Ruud market, if you will, of Mecca. So all of
the sweet scents and the oils go back to them, a very wealthy
tribe. And umayyah is known for his arrogance, and he's known for
the way that he treated Bilal RadiAllahu, taranu, the torture of
Bilal RadiAllahu. Taranhu,
of course, other than Umayyad, no Khalaf, you have ubayyb nukhalaf,
who is famous for what can anybody tell me what he's famous for?
The only man killed by the hand of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam, a man who swore that he would kill the messenger of Allah.
Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he pursued. The Prophet saw in Uhud,
the Prophet saw some threw a spear as he was pursuing and it nicked
him on the side of his throat. He is the one man who died from the
hand of the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wasallam, and the Prophet
saw him, said, the worst person on the Day of Judgment a person Qatar
and Abu yahu Qatar, qatalahu nabiu, the person who is the worst
on the Day of Judgment is someone who killed his.
Prophet, or his prophet killed him, and so he's the only person
in the history of this Ummah that was killed by the hand of the
Messenger of Allah. You also have Uthman Ibn madraun, RadiAllahu,
talaan Zainab bint madarun oladi Allahu anha, who is the sister of
Earthman and the wife of Sayyidina, Omar RadiAllahu
talaanu. So some of the powerful and noble ones as well. Now the
two that we're going to talk about, Safwan Ibn umayyah, self
explanatory, that he is the son of Umayyad nuhalaf and his first
cousin, who is Umair Ibn Wahab. Romair ibn Wahab, Wahab and
umayyah are brothers Wahab, so his full name is Umayyad Ibn Wahab Ibn
Khalaf, Safwan Ibn umayyah ibn Khalaf. So their first cousins,
Safwan Ibn umayyah and ramayr ibn Wahab, may Allah be pleased with
them. So let's get into their story inshaAllah to Allah, and
what makes the story so compelling, and why you can't tell
it apart from each other, these two men inherited the enmity of
the Prophet salallahu, alasallah, but they fit a bit of an awkward
mold. Their fathers were very old, and so while their fathers were at
the chief of opposition, they are not considered of the younger
descendants of the chiefs of the people of Mecca. They themselves
are elderly and elderly in the sense that they're grown men and
they are noble in their own right. They have children that are old
enough to fight the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam as
well. Right? So even though their fathers are engaged in warfare.
They, too are old enough to have multiple wives, multiple children,
that are also in the enmity of the Prophet sallallahu, sallam. They
have inherited it, and they have a lot of pride in what their fathers
have passed down to them and what their tribe calls them to
ramewab was nicknamed here. He's one of the people who's nicknamed
shaytaan Quraysh. Shaytaan Quraysh, so that tells you
everything you need to know about his opposition to the Prophet
salisa and the Muslims absolutely hated the Prophet sallallahu
alayhi wa sallam, and was a fierce enemy of the Messenger of Allah,
sallAllahu, alayhi wa sallam, and on the day of Badr, he shows up.
And of course, Safwan, his first cousin, is fighting under his
father, umayyah.
And Umar was a skilled spy. This will give you some context to a
conversation later on. So Umair, before the Battle of Badr takes
place, Umair is dispatched by the Meccans to basically see what's
going on with the Muslim army. Before the battle of Badr starts,
he comes back to Abu Jahl to the Meccans, and he tells them that I
counted 300 men, which, by the way, is far on right. So he
counted the number of Muslims. He counted the horses, he counted
every single shield and spear. He gave a full report of how they
looked. And while Abu Jahl and many of the Meccans saw an easy
opportunity here because they were far more equipped, the Muslims
were not equipped for a battle here, they were being ambushed,
basically because they had gone out on an expedition, but not on a
full, full out battle.
Ram said, I have a bad feeling about this. I think we should go
back. There's something about what he saw in the Muslims that day,
the dedication, the faith, the Imaan, the certainty that even
though they were outnumbered and outweapons, he said something
about them, doesn't look right to me. We should go back to Mecca.
Now, of course, Abu Jahl. Abu Jahl was the one that was shaming all
of the chiefs that had the opinion that maybe we should go back from
Badr. So Abu Jahl mocks him, shames him, and shames all of
those who have the opinion that we should not go forth with this
battle, so they go forward. Now Umair,
he and his son are fighting. The Prophet saw them. So Ummah and his
son, Wahab. So uma Ibn Wahab and Wahab ibn Umair are both fighting
against the Prophet, sallay salam that day, Safwan Ibn umayyah, his
cousin, is fighting against the prophets. Lie some alongside his
father, umayyah ibn Khalaf. There is an interesting ayah in the
Quran here that I guarantee you most Muslims do not understand the
context of in SubhanAllah. It's very rich in this context, as the
ayah in Surat Al Anfal, verse 48 where Allah subhanahu wa says,
What if zayan Allahumma, shaytaan Allahu Ali Bala Kumu young Nasi wa
ini Darla remember the day that the devil beautified the shaytaan
beautified their evil deeds to them, and he told them, no one
will be victorious over you. I.
Am your protector. I am your protector. And then Allah mentions
that once the two armies met, right? Falama Tara Atul Fiat, Ani,
nakasala apihi, once the two armies met, he fell back on his
heels and he said, ini, Beri on minkung, I am free from you in the
araam, I see what you do not see in the Achala, I fear Allah,
Allah, and Allah is Severe in his punishment. What is this referring
to? It's actually referring to right before the Battle of Badr.
All right, subhanAllah, look at the richness of this ayah and
understanding this, because we always see it from the other side.
The Muslims saw the angels come down. They felt the presence of
the Malaika. The angels come down to support them on the Day of
Badr. Jibreel Ali, his Salaam and that group of the veterans of the
Malaika of Badr, the best angels to ever live are the ones that
fought on the day of Badr. According to Jibril Ariel Salam,
Jibreel Islam asked the Prophet saw that, what do you say about
the people of Badr amongst you? Meaning the Sahaba that fought on
the day of Badr, the Prophet SAW Islam said, they're the best of
us. Jibreel arisalam said, waked Arika hum and likewise with us.
They're the best of us. The angels that fought on the day of Badr,
have a rank amongst the meraika. So what's happening here, before
the Battle of Badr?
Ramey Ibn Wahab sees what appears to be surah. Abnumalik, surakhab.
Numalik, you all know who surakhab, nomadic is, right? Who
is he? Someone? Tell me, because we covered him before, and don't
be afraid to get it wrong. I prefer a wrong answer to no
answer.
He was the bounty hunter of the Prophet. Saw on the Hijra right.
He pursued the prophets lie some on the hijra, and then Allah Azza
guided him, and he became a Muslim. Imagine this. Suraqah
appears to the disbelievers as one of them on his horse and
everything, and it was actually the shaytaan.
So shaytaan took the form of suraq abnu Malik,
while the angels are on the other side. And Umayyad Ibn Wahab sees
him, and Al Hadith and Hisham see him, and he says to them these
words, Lahari, Bala Kumu Liam, no one will overcome you today from
the people. Wain, lakum, and I have your back. I am with you. And
they thought that it was suraq, abnu Malik, basically getting the
army energized before the day of Badr. Now what happened is
ramewahab is narrating this as a disbeliever who became a believer
later on. Right? What happened is that suddenly suraka Completely
flips the script,
and he says, In nibari un minkum, I have nothing to do with you. And
he runs away from the battlefields.
What happened here, and they're so confused, because that's not like
Surah abnu Malik to get scared, right? And there's a lot that kind
of is implied here that surakah had not yet made his Islam public.
The actual Surak abnu Malik, RadiAllahu Tala, I know this is
still early on enough after the Hijra to where that's possible, or
they would have thought he came back, whatever it is. The point
is, it's unlike Surah Abu Malik to be riling everybody up and then
suddenly to basically freak out and then run away from the
battlefield and say, I have nothing to do with you all.
What happened here? The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said
that the worst day of the year for the shaytaan is what day, the day
of Arafat. Shaytaan hates the day of Arafat. His worst day of the
year is the day of Arafat. Why? Because of the forgiveness of
Allah, Subhanahu wa except the Prophet saw him, said for the day
of Badr they said, why? Ya Rasulullah? Because he saw Jibreel
Ali Islam, the angels. And when shaytaan saw Jabril alisalam show
up to the battlefield, he ran away. So shaytaan was excited on
the day of Badr because he thought that's it. We're going to end
Islam today. It's probably there's so much that's relevant to us.
They're outnumbered. They're overwhelmed. We're going to end
them. And he's riling up Abu Jahl, and he's riling up Ramey Ibn
Wahab, and he's riling these people up, but then Allah caused
him to see Jibreel Ali Islam on the other side, and SubhanAllah.
This is so important in these lessons of victory and defeat.
While two armies are seeing each other, another two armies are
seeing each other, and we are not privy to those two armies seeing
each other,
the angels in the shayateen right, and when he saw Jir Ali Salam, he
fled the battlefield and said, I have nothing to do with you all.
So Ramey Ibn Wahab is the one who saw that, who had that interaction
with the shaytaan, posing as Surak Abdu Malik on.
Day of Badr now Subhanallah, the battle goes on, and his son Wahab
is captured by rifara ibn Rafa Al Ansari. Radi Allah captures his
son Wahab, and he takes him as a prisoner. Ramair is fighting on
his horse. Very, very brave. He's knocked off of his horse. And
subhanAllah, this is something that, you know, there's a
narration about it, and I try to visualize it, and it's something
of how Allah brings life, truly from the dead RAM
as an enemy of the Muslims, remembers being knocked off of his
horse and wounded,
and he remembers one of the Muslims taking his sword and
putting his sword through him, until he says, What? The tip of
his sword hit the hasat hit the stones under me.
And guess what? Subhanallah, I want you to imagine being in his
place.
Ramayr says that he thought he killed me, and he said Barad al
lay and then he said, the night time came and I woke up, and I was
between the dead the casualties from Quraysh in Badr,
and the sword had gone through me, but I wasn't dead. Can you imagine
waking up at night in the middle of the desert, looking around and
seeing 70 people around you killed, and your enemy thought
that they killed you, and somehow you've been given the second
chance at life and looking and seeing the sword and where it
went, but it didn't puncture enough of you to kill you.
And he said, So I got up. I mean, somehow it's like a nightmare,
right? Waking up in a nightmare. Imagine what Allah wanted for this
man. I got up from between them,
and I went to Mecca, and I managed to treat myself, and basically to
get to recover from that wound. When you talk about being shaken,
it doesn't get more, you know, spooky than that, right? Like I
woke up amongst the dead ones of Badr. I thought I was dead, the
person who killed me, from the Muslims thought I was dead, but
Subhanallah Allah spared me.
And then the next part of the story,
Ramey Ibn Wahab goes back to Mecca,
and
his cousin, Safwan Ibn umayyah
is obviously livid over what happened in Badr as well, because
safwan's father was killed by who on the day of Badr, who killed
Umayyad muhallaf On the day of Badr,
Bilal RadiAllahu talano. So umayyah used to torture Bilal,
drag him through the streets. Safwan would have been witness
party to that, a part of that entire system,
and Allah subhanahu wa to be killed by the same man that he
used to drag around the streets, who was saying, ahadun, Ahad under
his whip and under his stone and Allah subhanaw taala caused on the
day of Quran, on that day for umayyah to die at the hands of
Bilal RadiAllahu talanu. So Bilal was given his justice RadiAllahu
Tala Anu on that day. But the whole atmosphere in Mecca is
absolutely depressing, right? So we see it from the Muslim side on
Uhud, when we talk about the emotions of Uhud and how every
house in Medina was struck with a death, with a casualty in Uhud, in
Badr, every single home in Mecca was struck by a casualty from the
Mushrikeen. Now, of course, their dead are in hellfire, right? But
every single one of them is struck by a casualty. They also have
prisoners that are in Medina, right? So some of the high profile
Meccans are also captives with the Prophet sallallahu, Sabin Medina.
So the sentiment in Mecca is anger, it's revenge, it's sadness.
They also don't believe in an akhira. So what do you console
these people with? You console the believers with Katana? Katla Kum
finnaar, our dead are in paradise. Your dead are in hellfire. What do
you console yourselves with in Mecca, after this great
humiliation and this great loss? So they're stuck and they're
extremely depressed, and they're full of vengeance. And from the
day that Badr ends, they're already thinking about how they
can plot against the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam and
get revenge against the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam. So Umair
goes to Safwan,
and he says, let's take a walk,
because walking and talking to one another helps us pass the time of
this tragedy. He said, Let's go for a walk and let's talk, because
we're all dwelling in this depression about what happened to
us in Badr. So let's talk.
Khadak khalib wa Musa abaum. And so they started to speak about as
hab al khalib, the people of the khalib, and what happened to them.
If you read the people of al khalib, al khalib refers to the
cemetery of the Mushrikeen, of the disbelievers in Badr. Okay, so for
them, basically it's a mass grave of and you can imagine the stench
and the evil from there SubhanAllah. Imagine where Abu
Jahl is buried and umayyah is buried, and these people who were
at the forefront of oppressing the prophets like some and that's
where they are buried. Imagine the amount of fire and punishment,
right, and bitterness in that place. So they spoke about Al
khalib, and they started to speak about their friends who were
killed, and everyone in Mecca is, you know, is one degree of
separation, right, especially when we start talking about who's
married to who everyone's related somehow. So they start mentioning
their fathers, and they start mentioning their uncles, and they
start mentioning all of these people that have been killed, and
Safwan says to Ramesh,
Safwan says, Wallahi,
there is no point of living like there is no sweetness to life
after they've been killed. There's no good in living after them,
right? Like, what happiness, what joy is there? So Amir says,
sadaqta, Allah, you've told the truth. And then RAM lets his
tongue slip.
He says, Am I Allah? He Lola Ainun, Alayah laysandi qabahu. He
said, I swear by Allah, if I didn't have a debt upon me, if I
wasn't buried in debt that I still haven't paid off, Wan aksha alayhi
mubayahdi, and if I didn't have family that I would worry about if
I was killed, he said, la Rakib to Ilah Muhammad bin SallAllahu. Ala.
Obviously he didn't say SallAllahu, alaihi salam. I'm
saying that. He said I would ride to Muhammad, sallAllahu alaihi
salam and kill him right now, if I wasn't worried about my debt and I
wasn't worried about my family, I would go straight to Yathrib and I
would kill the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wasallam, fain nalifi. And
he said, and I have an excuse to make it to Medina Ibn asirun Pid
him, my son is a captive, so it would be easy for me to go in
there on the premise that I'm trying to rescue my son, and then
I'd kill Muhammad, sallAllahu, alaihi salam, and whatever, I'd be
killed. But I want revenge. There's no point in living after
all that has happened to us in Badr. So Umair is narrating this.
He says, So sofwan sees the moment. So fun saw an opening. He
said, Well, if that's the case, he said, alay adenook, I'll take
over. I'll take care of your debt. Anna akudihi, I'll pay off all of
your debts where a yalu, kemari, ali, osihima Baku and your family
is like my family. I'll take care of them as long as they're alive.
So basically, you have no excuse. Now, if you really want to go kill
the prophets, lie Salam and get revenge, I've got your money. I'll
take care of your debts. By the way, salfan was the richest man in
Mecca at this point.
All right, there is no one and Allah who's best, who has more
wealth than him at this point in Mecca, he is the wealthiest. He
has plenty of money to spend, and that's part of what makes it so
miserable. As some of the ashabasir the biographers would
write, when you're used to being able to throw money at everything
and get it solved, that's when it frustrates you even more. I can't
pay anyone to go take out the Prophet's lay Salam. I can't make
these problems go away, and I have all the money in the world. So
Okay, fine. You want to go kill the prophets like Salam, I've got
your back. I'll take care of all of your debts. And your family is
my family. I will spend on them until
they pass away from this world. So amair says, in that case, Haq to
Mala ya shatani wa shatnik,
this conversation stays between you and me. No one should know
about this conversation except you and me. And then Umar takes a
sword, and he takes that sword to someone who produces poison, he
dips the sword in poison, and then he conceals it, and then he makes
his way to Al Madinah with the intention to kill the Prophet. Saw
Islam. Imagine he's leaving from Mecca to Medina with the intention
of murdering the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He
knows that he's going to be killed in the process, but he's so bitter
over what has happened, he just wants to stab the Prophet
sallallahu sallam, and he doesn't mind being killed in the process.
Subhanallah, how history changes and what he finds, he says, when I
got to Medina, Umar was sitting in the masjid, and he had all these
young people surrounding him, yet to had the thuna and Yomi Badr,
and Umar was telling them about what happened on the day of vedar.
So basically, you had all.
These young people that missed the day of Badr. And of course, you
know Badr was one of those things where you were there, you were you
weren't there because it was far away from Al Medina, and many of
the Ansara didn't get to participate on the day of Badr. So
imagine, he says, Omar RadiAllahu, Tara Anu is speaking to them,
wayth, qurubi, wamah, arahamin, aduwe, him and Omar RadiAllahu,
anhu, talking about the miracles that Allah bestowed upon them and
the humiliation of the enemies. And all of these people are
sitting around Omar in the masjid, and their eyes are wide. And Umar,
with his booming voice and posture, is talking about
everything that happened in Badr. And then Umayyad walks to the door
of Masjid nabui,
Ra Omar RadiAllahu, Tara Anhu
catches him with his eye,
and Omar RadiAllahu, Anhu says, in no uncertain terms, hab al khalib,
adu Allah, that dog is the enemy of Allah. Ramewa, Wallahi, Maja,
Illa, bisha, I swear by Allah, he's only coming with an evil
intention. I can see it in him. Omar Radha Allah Anu saw him. He
looked at his face. Saw him at the door of the Masjid. He said, No,
no, no, he has no good intentions. And Omar RadiAllahu Tara Anu, he
said, Watch him. Told the Ansar, watch him. He went and he told the
prophet Sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam haulah, the enemy of Allah.
Uma has come. Wallahi, Maja, Illa, Bishara, he's coming with evil
intentions. Yanabi, Allah, Be careful, O Prophet of Allah, Be
careful and watch him. I don't trust him, and I don't trust his
movements. So Umar RadiAllahu, Anhu spot on with reading the
situation, right? So Omar tells the Ansar to go stand next to the
Prophet salallahu alaihi salam, basically, in case Umair tries to
pounce, you can protect the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam. Ahmed is waiting patiently to enter upon the Prophet. Saw who
went and checked with the prophets. Asmaa did not come back
to Ahmed and say, tafad, the prophet will see you now. What did
Umar do? He took Umayyad, had his sword hanging around his neck.
Omar RadiAllahu, Anhu grabbed the sword from behind him, choked him
and dragged him to the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam,
choking him so he comes into the Prophet saw them room, and Umar
RadiAllahu, Anhu is literally strangling him. And the Prophet
salallahu alayhi wa sallam says, Leave him alone. Let him go,
ohmar, so he lets him go. And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam says to him, come closer to me. Oh um, go ahead. Udu
fadana, so he came close to the Prophet, sallAllahu, alaihi
wasallam Rama RadiAllahu, Salah. Anhu is watching and is ready to
snap the man's neck. So he
says to the Prophet SAW, which basically means, what? Good
morning. Salah.
Now, by the way, there's so many little lessons here. Subhanallah,
the prophets lie Salam, when he said enum salahim, and it actually
says in narration, Wakana tahiya tahiya benahum, that this was the
way that the people would greet each other in the days of
ignorance, the prophets lie. Salam said that, well, that a man,
Allahu, vita, hayatin, hayrim, tahaq, ya Omer, a greeting better
than this greeting of yours, oh Mayer. And it is tahiya to Jannah.
It is the way that the people of Jannah will greet each other,
which is as one very important
lesson here, by the way, subhanAllah is, you know,
something very small, which is when you speak to someone in your
family, or you speak to someone that you're very close with, it's
customary to not offer Salaam. Like Salam is a formality that's
reserved for strangers, but the Prophet saw them is so sensitive
to it that when you speak to your family, if you speak to your
spouse, when you speak to your children, the first thing you
should say is, what Assalamu alaikum, that this is the way that
we're trained. Allah gave us something better than marhaba and
Salah Al right. Allah gave us as salaam alaikum wa rahmakato. So
use them right. Say as salaam alaikum between each other. Now,
OMA can barely hide his disdain for the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi
wa sallam. And he says, in kundubihalla, Hadith adn Ya
Muhammad, he said, Look, this is all new to me, you know, I say
Anna IMO salaam, because that's what we're used to. So this whole
Islam thing is new to me. Tahir, Jannah, the way that the people of
Jannah, is new to me,
you know, sorry, but not sorry, basically, right. And so the
Prophet sallallahu a Salam says, Maja abikaya, Ram What brought you
here, oh ramir, he says to the haul Asir al Adi fi, I came for
this prisoner that is with you, Fauci, so show the excellence that
we know of you, the nobility that we know of you. In regards to.
Prisoner, my son is one of your captives. The prophets said about
a safe fear, no good. What's up with the the sword on your neck?
That and look what he says, subhanAllah, he says, kabahala min
suyuf. He said, May Allah destroy these swords. What? What? What
good? He says, Did it do any good for me on the day of Badr? You
know, if you thought the sword was going to be effective, clearly,
these swords meant nothing to us on the Day of Badr. So he said,
you know, basically, you know, whatever with the swords, you
know, what is it that these swords do for us? Anyway? Clearly, there
are forces that are greater than us, and the sword was not able to
do me any good. On the day of Badr,
the Prophet SAW, said, ustukni said, Tell me the truth.
Meladi,
why are you here?
So he says, majidulak, that's all I came for. Ya Rasulullah, I just
came because I want to free my son. The Prophet saw some knee
Tell me the truth. Why are you here? He said, All I came was for
my son, the Prophet, sallAllahu, alayhi wa sallam. Dan says to him,
belukta and tawa Safwan Hijjah, rather you and Safwan were sitting
in the hijar. By the way, subhanAllah, it's profound when
you think about this conversation of plotting the assassination of
the prophets Islam took place in the Hijra of Ismail Adi Salam,
where Allah azza wa jal saves Ismail, the ancestor of the
Prophet, salallahu alayhi salam, and these two men plotted the
murder of the prophets lie some from that place. So the Prophet
saw them as saying, rather you and so on, were sitting in the hijr,
father, kartumah, as hab al khalib In Quraysh. And then you started
to talk about as hab al khalib, the people who were killed from
Quraysh, hum makulta. And then you said to him, Lola daindi laharaj,
to Hata aktura, Muhammad, if I didn't have these debts in my
family, I would have gone out and killed Muhammad, sallAllahu,
alayhi wa sallam. And then Safwan said to you that don't worry about
your debts. I'll take care of your debts, and don't worry about your
family. I will take care of your family. So the prophets lie. Some
recounted him word for word the conversation, and there was no way
that anyone heard that conversation, and even if someone
would have heard that conversation to get it in time to the Prophet
sallallahu alayhi salam, with that precision is absolutely
impossible. So RAID is watching the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa
sallam uncover the entire plot to him, and then once the Prophet SAW
finishes saying that to him, he says, ashadu Anna karasulallah, I
bear witness that you're the Messenger of Allah. I have nothing
left to say. Ashadu Anna Karla, You are the messenger of Allah.
And he says that we were ya rasulallah, speaking exactly as
you said, and there is no way,
there is no way that you could have known what we spoke about
unless there was something coming to you in Abu Asmaa, unless there
was something descending upon you from the heavens. And he says,
waha the Amman, lam yahduru, ILA Anna wasaf One. He said, This is a
conversation that no one was present in except me and Safwan.
And he says, For Allah in Nila ala munalla. He said, So now I know
for sure that no one brought this to you except Allah subhanho wa
taala. So he said, so with that, ya rasulallah, Alhamdulillah, all
praises to Allah who guided me to you and who brought me on this
path. And then he took the shahada as the Prophet SAW, entrusted him
to now, of course, Omar Al the goes from wanting to snap the
guy's head to embracing him and saying, Allahu, Akbar and welcome
to Islam
and the Prophet. SallAllahu, alayhi wa sallam says, Fatih Hu a
Quran,
go teach your brother some of this religion, and teach him the Quran.
So give him some understanding of the religion, teach him his basics
of Islam now, and teach him the Quran, wa atliqu asi Rahul, and
give him back his prisoner, meaning, give him back his son. So
RAM now is the new Muslim in Medina.
All right. Plot twist in many ways, subhanAllah, he woke up
amongst the dead in Badr, literally woke up in the pile of
dead on Badr, and now is taking shahada in Medina with the Muslims
and the Ansar are teaching him how to make wudu, how to pray, how to
do the basics, and they're teaching him some of the Surahs of
the Quran. His son is freed from captivity. His son embraces Islam
as well. So Wahab Ibn Umayyad Ibn Wahab is also a Muslim and a
companion RadiAllahu Taala Anhu and Umar. RadiAllahu Taala Anhu
SA.
Said about Umar and this SubhanAllah. You think about how
this all the plot twist here. Omar was once that guy that walked in
and Hamza Radi Allahu grabbed him and, you know, told him to stop.
And then Umar became Muslim, and suddenly he's the celebrated New
Muslim. Umar said about Umar? He says that Wallahi akhan zir a pig.
Can ahabu ilayah min umayyah, I loved a pig. I would have loved
the pig more than I loved uma I hated that man, he said. And now,
who ahabu ilayah minadi, now he's more beloved to me than my own
children. So in that moment of him embracing Islam, he went from
being the enemy of Allah al Kalb, the dog less than a pig to being
more beloved to me than my children. So suddenly in Medina,
now you have Omar and Ramey Ibn Wahab
as companions of each other.
And Ramey Ibn Wahab learning the Quran and studying Islam and the
Muslim of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The story
continues, and it has many dimensions. Comes to the Prophet
sallallahu sallam, and he says, Ya Rasulullah
ini, Quinto, jahida na ala it FA Inu, Allah.
I used to strive to extinguish the light of Allah, span Tada, because
the assumption is, what now that I became Muslim, stay in Medina,
right? There's no need for him to go back to Mecca. It's dangerous
for him to go back to Mecca. But he says to the Prophet sallallahu,
alayhi wa sallam, I used to fight against the religion of Allah, and
I was involved in trying to extinguish the light of Allah. And
he says, Shadid al Adha, Liman Khanna, Aladdin, Allah, and I used
to harass severely anyone that was on the religion of Allah, and he
says, ya rasulallah, let me go back to Mecca. Let me go back to
Mecca. Fauci let me go back to Mecca. Even in this climate,
subhanAllah, think about how boiling with anger Mecca is now.
This is between Badr and there is no harder time in Mecca of anger
towards the Muslims, ya rasulallah. Give me a chance. Let
me go back to them. Call them to Allah. Call them to you. Call them
to Islam. La Allah Haydee him. It may be that Allah, Subhanahu wa
guide them, and he says, And if Allah does not guide them, then I
will harm them and harass them the way that I used to harass those
from your companions upon your religion.
So the Prophet SAW gave him permission to go back to Mecca and
to call them to Islam, which is very dangerous. But the Prophet
SAW Islam clearly knows what he's doing, and he knows ramai is
standing amongst the people of Mecca, and that Allah subhanahu wa
protect him in this operation. Subhanallah, while this is
happening, remember, Safwan and Ahmad had this conversation, and
no one knew anything except for so and Umayyad, and they both said to
each other that we're not going to tell anyone about this
conversation. So Safwan is giddy like holding on to the news, and
he's just waiting to hear about basically, the assassination of
the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam. And so he's walking past
people in Mecca, and he says to them, abshiru biwaka atin Tati
Kumu Anafi Ayam, don't worry. Good news is about to come to you
within the next few days, tunsi, kumukata, Badr, and it's going to
make you forget all of the horror of Badr. Something great is about
to come out of Medina. You just wait. I can't wait to tell you
what's about to happen in Medina. And then sofan is kind of getting
worried because he's not hearing any news. So Salam starts to go
out to the route, and he's asking people that are coming from that
direction, hey, do you hear anything from Medina? Did you hear
any news? Have you heard anything about Muhammad, sallAllahu,
sallam? Have you heard anything about Ramey Ibn Wahab? And
eventually, someone tells him
that, yeah, actually, Ramey became Muslim. And so one says to him, No
way, there is no way he became Muslim. And the writer tells him
he became Muslim, and he's on his way back to Mecca as a Muslim.
So sufwan, his entire mood switches. He was expecting to hear
the news of the death of the Prophet, saw them at the hands of
Umayyad. Instead, he just heard that Umayyad became Muslim at the
hands of the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam. Ramayr comes
back and so on, looks at him, and so far, knows right away when he
sees him that he's a Muslim now. And so far, says to him,
wallahill, abada I swear I will never speak to you again, and I
will never do anything for you again. And so far, turns his back
on him and goes, goes home in anger.
Now,
what Umer does is he starts to privately go through some of the
family members of his in Mecca and call them to Asmaa And
subhanAllah. In that process, he actually gets a significant.
This portion of converts from his tribe and from some of those
people in Mecca. So he starts to do dawah privately and wisely in
the midst of that, that interim period between Badr and Uhud. And
I want you to imagine the scene of his return to he comes back to in
Medina,
and he has this caravan of Muslims. So it's the only Hijra
that we know of between Badr and Uhud. Is the Hijra
under omewahab RadiAllahu tarahanu with a group of Muslims behind
him. And he enters into Al Madinah with this caravan of Muslims. And
he's reading the Quran as he's on the back of his camel as a
SubhanAllah. It's like a sight to see, you know, look at the
difference between the first time he came here and the second time
he came here as a Muslim, reading Quran on the back of his camel,
introducing another group of Muslims to the Prophet sallallahu,
alayhi wa sallam and Ramey Ibn Wahab RadiAllahu tarahanu goes on
to fight on the side of the Prophet. Saw them in every battle
afterwards. So he fights with the Prophet. Saw me uhhud in khandak,
and every battle after. And Allah allows him to live, you know, in
Al Madinah for the rest of his life. RadiAllahu tarahanu His son
Wahab Ibn Ramey, who was captured on the day of Badr, becomes a
companion, and he was instrumental to the conquest of Egypt. He was
one of those that went with AMR as through Ghazal May Allah liberate
it and liberate Philistine. He was one of those who was chosen by
Omar ALDE Allah Anu, who used to call his dad the dog of Quraysh.
Umar Anu appointed him as a commander in multiple expeditions.
And Wahab Ibn RadiAllahu talamah dies as a shahid in the Battle of
Amuria in Hasham. So he's actually buried in Hasham today. So Allah
Azza switched their fate entirely, which shows you that Allah
subhanahu wa saw, saw something in their hearts that made it worth
it. Now, what about safana umayyah? Safari umayyah is
probably the most stubborn, even more stubborn than Abu Sufyan,
with the Prophet sallallahu, alayhi wa sallam,
and how long it takes him to embrace Islam. And that's why I
chose to leave him. I was going to talk about him with Khalid and
ikrama and and Amr, because, technically, he's their colleague,
but there's something very unique about him that makes him more
like, you know, some of those people that we spoke about from
Tav. So let's talk about now his cousin, his first cousin, Safwan
Ibn umayyah, RadiAllahu taala. So Ramayana, Wahab, radiallahu anhu
now is in Medina, settled with the Prophet. Saw some fighting
alongside the Prophet. Saw some his cousin is left behind. Safwan,
richest man in Mecca, potentially the richest man in Mecca, hates
the Prophet, sallAllahu alayhi salam, with all of his heart,
extremely stubborn, and he's married to either the daughter or
the sister of pretty much every enemy of the Prophet saw them too.
So we say someone who's deeply embedded, deeply embedded in this
hatred of the Prophet saw them. So I'll list off some of his wives.
And there are multiple wives Subhanallah, one of them Barza
bint Masood, who's the sister of Rua Ibn masurudd al Adila, Anwar
taqafi from TAF, the chief of Taif, who, of course, became
Muslim later on. But his wife, one wife, is Barza. He's married to
the sister of Khalid Ibn Walid, RadiAllahu taranu. His sister
named Najia, Najia bintul Walid. He's married to the daughter of
Abu Sufyan, omena na omayma, omayna bint, abi Sufyan,
radiAllahu anha, by the way, all of these women became Muslim
eventually. So he's married to Barza Radi Allahu, anha najiya,
the sister of Khalid umayna, the daughter of Abu Sufyan. And then
there are other women that are listed that did also become Muslim
at some point, a woman by the name of al bahrum, al bahrum, bintal,
moradal and fajita bin tal Aswad Ibn muqtalib. So he has deep ties
to all of the circles of enmity to the Prophet, sallAllahu, alayhi wa
sallam. As well as being an enemy of the prophets, lie some himself.
All of the equipment of the battles against the prophets lie
some and the Muslims is coming from safana bin omeya.
So Safwan was like a weapons enthusiast. Alright? He didn't
just have horses and camels. He had warehouses, like storages of
weapons in Mecca and in path, by the way, right where he stored his
shields, he stored his spears, he stored all sorts of swords. So it
was often his artillery that was being used against the Muslims in
the various battles that would take place. He fought against the
prophets lie. Some in every single battle, and the prophets lie. Some
on the Day of Uhud
made this dua. Prophets lie. Some said Allah and Abu.
Fian, Allah, Hisham, Allah and safawa Ibn umayyah. At some point,
uhh, the Prophet saw some cursed these three men, so fun Ibn
umayyah, al Harit Ibn Hisham and safaan Ibn umayyah. And that is
also the context that the scholars mentioned for the ayah lay Salaam
in Almere shayun, oh ya to Rahim, what Allah says in Surat Ali
Imran, that it is not up to you who Allah, Subhanahu, taala, will
forgive, and who Allah will guide, meaning that they are different
from the group of people that you cursed in Badr, that all died in
one ditch those three men, something else is meant to come
out of them. And all three of them became Muslim at some point. And
all three of them, hassuna Islam as imam, as Rahim Allah says their
Islam was good. And he says, and the best of them was Al Hadith, a
lot of Tara Anu, if you remember, if you go back to ikramah ibn Abi
jahal, the lecture about him, Al harato No Isham, is also part of
that. So he says, all three of these men that the prophets lie
made dua against on that day, ended up becoming Muslim, which
shows you, even with the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam, Allah
accepts all of his duas, but sometimes there's something better
in store, so Allah Azza JAL will give him something better instead
of what the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam says, so So on
fights the Prophet SAW ISAM in every battle, and him and Umayyad
particularly have a damaged relationship, and I couldn't find
any primary source to this, but Allah knows best. If there were
some letters that went between them where Ahmad was trying to
call his cousin. This is his first cousin to Islam, and Safwan is
absolutely rejecting it. But what we do know is that when Khalid bin
Walid
just hints that he's thinking about becoming Muslim.
And he hints this to Ikram, and he hints this to Safwan, because
they're buddies. Safwan says to Khalid, walati, wala Rizza, he
swears by Allah irza. He says, if everybody in Quraysh became Muslim
except for one man, I would be that one man that wouldn't become
Muslim. I mean, look at how stubborn he is and how much he
hates this message. Everybody else becomes Muslim. I'm going to be
the one hold out when it comes to Islam. He said, qatala Abi, waqta,
la Akhi. He killed my father. He killed my brother. You want me to
follow his religion? Absolutely not. He's blinded by revenge and
vengeance, and has no interest whatsoever in even considering the
possibility of Islam. And he, along with Ikram or RadiAllahu,
sadhu, tried to stop Khalid al RadiAllahu, anhu, from leaving
Mecca and joining the ranks of the Prophet salallahu, alayhi wa
sallam, before the day of the Fatah, before the day of the
conquest of Mecca. Then the day of the conquest of Mecca comes
through.
And on that day, if you remember Khalid RadiAllahu, Tara Anhu was
leading one of the battalions of the Prophet salallahu, salaam, and
he was ambushed by AMA and safaen. So Ikram al RadiAllahu, Anhu and
safaen wa daelawan, both ambush Khalid, even though Safwan is his
brother in law, Safwan is married to his sister,
but they ambushed Khalid. Khalid was able to ward them off. He
killed 12 of that ambush, and those two both fled to Yemen. They
basically took to the water and tried to get away from the
Prophets lie. Some because they knew that the prophets lie. Some
had named them for death because they were stubborn in fighting the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. Now we follow the journey
of iqram aladh already and how Allah brought him back to the
Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. But what about Safwan Ibn
umayyah.
Safwan flees, and Umair comes to the Prophet SAW, and that's why I
said their stories aren't inseparable. And Umair Wadi Allahu
Taala and who says, Ya Rasulullah,
give me a chance to go and talk to him.
Let me go find him and let me bring him back to you as a Muslim,
the prophet Sawyer Salam says, Okay,
you have a chance. His wife embraced Islam, just like the wife
of IQ embraced Islam.
Sofwan is on the run.
So rameyer said, I know my cousin
ya rasulallah, give me something as a proof that I was sent by you
to grant him amnesty if he comes back to you in peace. So the
Prophet saws him, takes off his cloak, says that fab Lal gives it
to ahmair.
Go find your cousin, show him the cloak and say he has amnesty from
me.
So Subhanallah exactly as he thought. Ramayr RadiAllahu, Anhu
finds him about to board a boat to go to Yemen.
And ramir stops him, and he says to him that rasulallahu, alayhi wa
sallam is calling you back to him.
He's giving you a chance to be forgiven a.
And he says, You want me to believe that after I just tried to
foil I just tried to kill his men,
and I just fled trying to kill his men, you want me to believe that
the Prophet saw them is giving me a chance that Muhammad SAW is
calling me back for amnesty. I don't believe you're trying to
trick me. Ahmad said, the Prophet saw them is giving you a chance of
amnesty. And he pulled out the cloak of the Prophet's lie some he
says, Here is his proof. You have safety from the Prophet SAW Islam
if you come back to him willingly.
So Safwan running out of options. Now, to his credit, he's not a
hypocrite. He's not going to fake his Islam. He's coming back to the
Prophet saw them as a disbeliever, ready to make terms with the
Messenger of Allah, sallAllahu, alayhi wa sallam, on the basis of
the amnesty. So he comes to the Prophet salallahu alayhi wa sallam
with Umer, so he comes back with Umar, and he's on his camel.
And before the Prophet saw some can even address him. He says, Ya
Muhammad calls out to the Prophet SAW Islam. He says, hada Jani
birida, and he said it out loud in front of everybody, just to
basically put the prophets lie some on the spot in case there was
some sort of treachery here, right? So he says, This man came
to me with your cloak, WADA ani il kodumi Alik, and he told me to
come to you and that I would be safe.
He says, Is this true prophet saw said it's true.
He says, Listen, I'll listen to the message that you have in
radeep. If I like it, I'll become Muslim. But if not, give me two
months to consider it like he's still making terms with the
prophets. Lie
like you're lucky you're not dead, right? You're lucky you haven't
been killed with everything that's happening in this entire process.
He says, atani Shahram, I want two months to consider your message.
I'm not ready to become Muslim yet. I need to think about it two
months. The Prophet SAW, says, anzili, Abu Wah, come down from
your your camel. Ya Abu Wahab. He says to him, la Allah said, No, by
Allah Hata, to be in Ali until you give me what I just asked for. The
prophets, like some says, lekar ashwor, you can have four months.
You want two months. I'll give you four months. Just come down
and stop. Stop acting, you know, in this standoffish manner.
And subhanAllah, the Prophet saw them is showing him such grace.
He's surprised by the grace of the Prophet, sallAllahu, alayhi wa
sallam. But remember what he told, what he told he said, if everyone
in Quraysh became Muslim, except for one man, I'm going to be that
holdout SubhanAllah. He's staying true to his arrogance and his
stubbornness. In this case, he's not faking his Islam, saying, I'm
going to be a non Muslim. You gave me four months. We're going to
operate on the basis of that. He comes down, shakes the hand of the
Prophet, sallAllahu, alayhi wa sallam, and he's softening up to
the prophet, but still not Muslim.
And the other companions are, you know, looking at him with such
disdain like SubhanAllah. What is it going to take for you to open
your eyes and Omar, all the Allah Anhu himself. I mean, Omar said, I
wanted to pounce on him.
I wanted to tear the guy up. I mean, what are you doing setting
these terms and acting this way until this moment? And he said,
until the prophets lie. Some said to him, method Ali wa meth Aung,
kama, kalau, Sufi. He
said, My example to you is like Yusuf Ali, his salaam to his
brothers, when he said to his brothers, there's no blame upon
you today, May Allah forgive you. And that was it. Now Subhanallah,
a point that the ilama mentioned,
and this is going down a fiqh tangent. If the brothers can come
up, by the way, can the brothers come up make space inshallah? Just
move up as much as he can to make space for those that have come in
inshaAllah. Just stay here inshallah. Just move up inshallah.
That's good inshallah.
So an important point with
with with safaan that their ilama mentioned is that the Prophet SAW
Islam. You fart Rasulullah tihi, that the Prophet saw some did not
separate him from his wife, which led some ill, not to, you know,
see that the Prop was a prophet saw some treating him differently
because his wife was a Muslim. Did the prophets lie? Some know that
he was about to become Muslim. Is there a of sorts for a woman when
she becomes Muslim and her husband's not yet Muslim? So this
gives you a little bit of context as to, you know where this comes
from in the books of fiqh, right? The prophets, like some treatment
of safana bin umayyah, Safwan came back to his wife. Safwan was with
the Muslims, and this story gets more peculiar. Safwan went out to
fight alongside the Prophet, saw some and Hunan and Taif as a
kafir, as a disbeliever.
He didn't become Muslim. Everybody else is going jihad. And FISA
bilim, he's like, Nope, I have terms with the Prophet SAW, but
I'm fighting as an ally of the Prophet. Salisa, as someone who
has an oath with the Prophet.
Prophet SAW not as a Muslim. So he's fighting the hawazin,
fighting in her name, and fighting in Taif without taking Shahada.
And the Prophet salallahu, alas, says to him,
you know, he says, Would you loan some of your armor for what is to
come with the hawaz and with her name, and he had a warehouse, as I
said, where he had all these armors and shields. So he said to
the prophets, lie Salam Tawan al karha. Are you forcing me to are
you requesting it? I mean, this is the nature of this conversation.
The Prophet SAW says,
rather voluntarily. I'm not forcing you, it's voluntarily. And
the Prophet saw them said that we will return everything back to you
in its shape. So you loan us the shields, you loan us the armor,
and then we'll return it back to you in its shape. So they went
out. He fought alongside. The Prophet saw in her name and in
TAF, not as a Muslim, and his wife was a Muslim.
And then after hunayn,
he's looking at all the spoils of war, and he wasn't Muslim. To this
point,
Prophet saw him says to me, he's saying this. He says that the
Prophet saw him said to me, Abd Al wahb, are you Bucha hada, you like
all that stuff,
so so on. Said, I said, Yes, Prophets lie. Some said, hulach,
it's all for you.
So he gave him
100 camels. And then he said, you want more? Said, sure. He gave him
another 100 camels. So do you want more? Sure he gave him 300 camels.
Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam sofa is looking at him like, what is
going on here?
And he says, ma, pa, but nafsu Ahad and we mitrihada Allah, nafsu
Nabi, like no one's heart and soul is just so giving and generous,
except for someone that's truly a prophet like He's not like us
warlords. He's so different. So he said, at that point, my heart
softened towards al Islam.
And he said to the Prophet, saw Islam. Now I'm ready to become
Muslim.
Now I'm ready after 300 camels and two wars alongside the Prophet.
Saw them being the last holdout. Now I'm ready to be Muslim, Ya
Rasulullah. And
he takes a shahada, then right at the four month mark, and he says
about the Prophet, sallAllahu, alayhi wa sallam, that
lakat al Tanya, rasulallah, Abu Asmaa, saw him, gave me all of
that, and he was the most hated man on the planet to me, meaning I
still hated him. I was fighting alongside him, because that was my
most politically convenient, you know thing to do, to fight
alongside him as a disbeliever. But he kept on giving me until he
became the most beloved person to me, sallallahu alayhi wasallam.
Then after that, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam told me,
he said, sofaan said, we lost some of your shields in battle. So some
of the shields are gone. So the Prophet salallahu alaihi wasallam
said to him, Fahl nah, ramulaq, do we have to pay you back for it?
And he said, No, ya rasulallah. He says, what was in my heart that
day is not in my heart today. I'm not the same person that I was
when you when you asked me to borrow those shields. Now,
subhanAllah, I mentioned all of this to say, what now? Let that be
the context of that conversation of the Prophet, saw some of the
Ansar, where the Ansar were wondering, how is it that the
Prophet saw some is giving people like that all of this and we're
left behind, and what that signaled to them?
And ask yourself, why it would pinch, why it would hurt to be
watching the prophets lie. Some do that, and how the shaytaan can
play with your mind
to say that the prophets lie. Some is doing this, and he's doing
that, and he's doing this, and this isn't principled, and things
of that sort. And then let that be the context. Think of Safwan Ibn
umayyah Radi Allah. Let that be the context for that conversation.
When the Prophet saw him saying, Look, these people, they're weak
at heart. They needed something. Aren't you pleased that they go
back and they have the camels and they have the wealth, and you go
back and you have rasulallah,
that's the context of these conversations, and Subhanallah,
we're out of time. And so I'll just summarize. So what then comes
to be of Safa bin Umayyad RadiAllahu taala, when his heart
opens to Islam like ramewab, he's a completely changed man. He hears
someone say that whoever does not make hijra, halaq in Nahum Hajj or
halaq, whoever does not make Hijrah, will perish. So he goes to
Al Madin al Munawwara.
Masjid, and he sleeps in the masjid. And he just spreads out
his Rida, he just spreads out a cloak, and he starts sleeping in
the masjid of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. It's
a very interesting narration. Someone stole his cloak while he
was sleeping,
all right, so he goes to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi salam.
He catches the man who, who, who stole his cloak? And he goes to
the prophets lie some, and he says, This person stole my cloak.
And so the prophets lie. Salam had the prophets lie. Some commanded
the penalty, and then so on. Said, No, Ya Rasulullah, it's Sadaqah.
It's a charity. For me, the prophets lie. Some said, You
should have said that in the first place. But okay,
you know he stole. I mean, Safwan had a cloak, right? So fun was a
very rich man, or the Allah. With that being said, he came to the
Prophet, sallAllahu, alayhi wa sallam, and he was worried about
missing out on the Hijra. Now, like I held out to the very end
with the Prophet SAW, and
that's where the Prophet SAW, said, la hijra, tabrimaka,
walakin, jihadun, waniya, faida. So the Prophet saw some said,
there is no Hijra after the Fatah, but there's only jihad. There's
only striving in the path of Allah subhanaw taala and the intention.
So he says, if you are called to it, fanfiru, then answer the call.
And so finally, the Allah Anhu never missed a battle in the path
of Allah subhanho wa Taala until the end of his life, RadiAllahu
Tara Anu, in accordance with that, he also became known for his
extreme generosity in the Medina Munawwara. They said that anyone
that was looking any Mesquite, that was looking for food, they
knew that they could go to the house of Safwan in Mecca or
Medina, and he would give RadiAllahu, Tara anhu, and he had
many children. Subhanallah just mentioned that two of his kids,
Abdullah and Abdul Rahman. So he acted upon the Hadith of the
Prophet. Saw them that the most beloved of names to Allah are
Abdullah and Abdul Rahman. So he named two sons, Abdullah and abd
Rahman. Both of these two, who were his sons, were actually
killed alongside Abdullah and Huma next to the Kaaba. When he was
executed next to the Kaaba, they were executed alongside Abdullah
ibn Zubayr. So they were two of those who did not flee the side of
Abdullah ibn Zubayr when most people had fled from him.
RadiAllahu, Taala anhu, we ask Allah to be pleased with the
companions of the Messenger of Allah, sallAllahu sallam, to send
his peace and blessings upon our beloved messenger, sallAllahu
alaihi salam, and to allow us to be sources and vehicles by which
people are guided to the way of Allah and the messenger, salallahu
alayhi wa sallam, Allah Ameen, barakallahufikam inshaAllah Tara
will continue next week with salaam alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa
barakatuh.
