There used to be a rivalry between VRIC
and Epic once upon a time.
And we used to talk about, you know,
the growth of this community and the growth
of that community. Then you guys went and
got a whole city. And at Valley Ranch
we said, Halas, you can have it.
We'll stick closer to the airport
and we'll say salaam to you as you
go and you build your city and we'll
be we'll be pleased with our small lot.
But may Allah's unite all of the Masajid
here in DFW and unite all of in
our
What I wanted to reflect upon, dear brothers
and sisters, is an ayah that describes the
Muslims more in this time
than any other time.
And that is the ayah and so it
is that shows up right in the middle.
That they forsake their beds. They forsake their
comfort. And there's a visual that is given
to us in this verse of the believer
fighting with their bed, fighting
that comfort that they have with their bed,
and their body tossing and turning.
To stand up and to call upon Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in this intense
feeling of fear
and hope. And then spending from what Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has provided to them. There
is no time in the year that this
Ayah is manifested like this time amongst the
Muslims. Both the Qiyam and the Sadaqa. Giving
up and sacrificing
for the sake of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
constantly. It is wired inside of us and
it's the only time where the norm is
that the Muslims are praying qiyamulil. Where it's
odd if the believers are not praying. Because
Taraweeh is just.
Right? It is odd if you look around
and you see someone's missing from Taraweeh for
a long time. Of course, it's one manifestation
of the night prayer.
But what I wanted to think about and
reflect on are these spectrums that
Allah gives us in the Quran.
The ayah prior to that in Surat Sajdah,
Allah
That verily those who truly
believe are the ones who when they are
reminded,
they immediately fall into prostration. They fall into
prostration.
And Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says, They glorify
the praises of their Lord.
And they don't
have pride.
There's a spectrum that's just been given to
you.
The angels
said to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala at the
creation
of man and the bestowal
of
of
authority
to man on this earth.
They responded to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala's command
with prostration and they said, we glorify
your praises.
We glorify your praises. We are constantly in
a state of glorifying
your praises. Can you imagine, subhanAllah, this amazing
creation of Allah?
That in the heavens, there's not a single
hand span except that there's an angel that
is glorifying Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
either standing or bowing or prostrating. An amazing
creation.
And the Malaika
do not eat or drink as we all
know nor do they have their desires. They
simply worship Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala all the
time.
The opposite of the angels is who?
In that entire episode,
the opposite of the angels is who?
Shaitan. Iblis.
And what was the description of Iblis?
He refused and he had pride and therefore
he found himself in the legions of the
disbelievers.
Here, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala gave you a
spectrum.
The response of the angels, the response of
the devil. Where do you fall? Now at
the bare minimum when you enter into Islam,
right?
Like the angels
unlike the devil, You submit yourself to Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala. You enter into this covenant
with Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
You say that Islam is greater than whatever
else is out there, and that what Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala calls me to is better
than what myself calls me to. And so
there is an element of submission.
But then you have that verse,
People that fight with their beds
to get up and pray. People that forsake
their comfort calling out to Allah.
Now we know that not all people get
out of bed the same way.
And not all people call upon Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala the same way. Not everyone's qiyam
and standing up and rising
out of the comfort of the bed to
calling upon Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is the
same.
There's another spectrum there.
Allah describes the hypocrites when they are called
to prayer,
extremely lazy.
They drag their feet.
They they hate it and they will do
just enough to get credit. Right? Check a
box.
Whereas the opposite of a hypocrite is our
beloved Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
who was described in the night prayer as
what? Wasaba.
Like a man jumps out of his bed.
SubhanAllah. Like a like a lion. Immediate.
There's absolutely no tossing and turning or hitting
the alarm clock metaphorically.
It is immediate because the heart of the
prophet
sallallahu alaihi wasalam does not sleep. He immediately
jumps up at the call to Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala. Think about the spectrum here. Right?
Another spectrum that's been given to you. All
of us fall between Kusala and Wataba.
Getting up very lazy
and jumping up in anticipation
of that moment of reflection or those moments
of reflection with the Lord Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
Now it's not that the bed is less
comfortable.
It's not the certainty in that which Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has
promised is greater.
Right? So you can have the bed of
a hypocrite and the bed of a sincere
believer who longs for Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
the same way. In fact, some of those
beds, you know, our beds in Valley Ranch,
we're masekeen. Our beds are not as comfortable
as your beds in in East Plano apparently.
Right? You could have beds of a different
comfort level.
Right? But beds of the same comfort level,
nothing is going to change the response
except for what?
How much more certain one person is in
the promise of Allah
How much more one person longs for that
conversation with Allah
And so they jump up quicker, better
with a greater longing for Allah
And there's certainly an element of training to
this.
You are not the same on the 27th
night as you are on the 21st night.
On 21st night, when people are praying, even
here in Qiam, right, they're falling all over
each other. Some people are not getting up
from sujood because they're falling asleep in their
sujood. Everyone's tired. You're still trying to adjust
your body. By the 27th, 28th, 29th, your
day and night have flipped.
And because your body has adjusted,
your soul is enjoying it more.
But it started off with what? Not the
lack of comfort,
but the greater certainty.
A greater certainty. A greater desire to call
upon Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala.
So I want you to think about this
Ayah,
compare it to an Ayah and Suratoba.
Where Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says,
Oh you who believe, why is it that
when you are called to go out in
the path of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, and
this is in the context of the battle
of Tabuk. Why is it that you
are Why is it that when you're called?
You cling to the earth. SubhanAllah. So some
people cling to their beds.
Some people cling to the earth. You cling
to this world
and Allah diagnoses the issue.
Are you a little too comfortable?
Are you pleased with the life of this
world over the hereafter?
That's in the context of being called to
battle.
Why did your feet cling to the earth?
Why did you cling to your bed? Why
did you immediately start to make the excuses
and stay in the comfort of your home?
What is it?
And Allah Subhanu wa Ta'ala is mentioning the
believers who don't cling to their beds, but
they get out of their beds in anticipation.
Now, SubhanAllah.
The next verse in Surah Al Sajdah.
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says, what?
And so no one knows what Allah
has prepared for
them, for the coolness of their eyes, the
the luxuries of paradise, as a reward for
that which they used to do.
You have no idea how beautiful Jannah is.
You have no idea
what in your imagination
could grasp
of what Jannah could offer to you. What
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala has prepared for you
in Jannah.
SubhanAllah.
Look at the transition here
and look at the transition in Surat At
Tawbah.
In Surat At Tawbah,
you're clinging to the earth because you're pleased
with the life of this world.
You're pleased of the life of this world
over the hereafter.
Here in Surat Sajdah,
you have no idea what Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala has prepared for
you. You're a loving Lord for a loving
servant
of the rewards and the Naim of paradise.
The blessings of paradise as a reward for
that which you used to do, as a
compensation for that which you used to do.
There's something here to pay attention to, dear
brothers and sisters.
We're coming into the last 10 nights. And
obviously Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala is saying here,
you don't know, but you know it exists.
You just don't know how amazing it is,
because you could never grasp it. And that's
what keeps you coming. That's what gets you
out of bed. That's what charges you in
the morning. That's what makes you give up
your comfort. That's what causes you to sacrifice
your comfort because you know that something greater
exists.
You are certain in the promise of Allah
Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, even though you know that
it's beyond your imagination. May Allah Subhanahu Wa
Ta'ala make us all from the people of
Jannah. Allahumma Ameen.
As we come into the last tonight,
there's a critical question.
Because I know Mashallah,
you know, Sheikh Badu talks about the mathematical
I remember there was the clip of every
minute. You calculated every minute of Laylatul Qadr.
What it would what it would count. Khairam
alfishaar.
What was the math on it, Sheikh? One
second. One second. One second equals? One second.
One second equals? One second equals one day.
One second equals one day. Okay. That's the
approximate
approximate calculation. One second equals one day. Right?
Later to Qadr is better than a 1000
months. An incredible night that's been promised. And
so you'll hear it as you should hear
it. We would be mad
to sleep half of the nights or to
miss out on laylatul Qadr. What is Allah
subhanahu wa offering you? You would you know,
you'd have to be crazy.
Is it farr? No. It's not farr to
stand up and pray at night, by the
way. It's not farr. But you'd have to
you'd have to really really really have a
problem to just say, you know what? I'm
just gonna sleep through the night. I'm good.
Here's the point that I want you to
appreciate for a moment, dear brothers and sisters.
Even if Laylatul Qadr was not better than
a 1000 months.
Even if it was just a regular night
of Qiyamulayl.
Every single morning,
Prayer is better than sleep.
Fajr in and of itself in Jamah
has the value
that is necessary
to wake you up from your comfort and
to make you come longing for Allah Subhanahu
Wa Ta'ala. The night prayer on an average
night of the year where the Lord of
the worlds offers you
certain things during the night is better than
your sleep. It's worth you jumping out of
bed in anticipation.
And the hereafter is better and everlasting. The
hereafter is always better than the life of
this world. Meaning what?
Don't just think about Laylatul Qadr as the
only value proposition that exists out there. That's
worth you giving up your comfort and pushing
yourself for these last 10 nights.
This is a daily
struggle.
This is a daily calculation that you are
making every single morning for salatul fajr. Every
single night when it comes to tahajjud, even
if it's for a few minutes. Every single
time that you put your comfort out there
for the sake of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
in making a greater sacrifice.
But if you're clinging to your bed, and
you're clinging to the earth, and you're clinging
to your job, and you're clinging to all
these different things of this world,
perhaps the problem is that you've become too
comfortable.
The last thing that I'll just share with
you, SubhanAllah,
many of the doctors that are coming back
from Gaza, May Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala give
victory to our brothers and sisters in Gaza.
And may Allah reward the doctors from our
community that are going out there. What an
amazing thing for them to be doing. May
Allah reward them. Allahumma Ameen. It's really humbling,
SubhanAllah, that we have people from our community
that are making that type of a sacrifice.
It's beautiful.
1 of the doctors said something and then
another doctor said the same thing.
You know, what surprised them the most about
the people of Gaza? He said, they're not
bitter.
They're really not bitter.
You know, they're in this locked in mindsets
of the Aqira, of Jannah, of Shahad.
Aqirah Jannah Shahadah. They're locked in
and because they're so locked in, they're not
bitter. Yes. They're frustrated with the response of
the world, but they're not bitter with the
response of the world.
But they're not bitter with the decree of
Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala
because they believe in Jannah
the same way that we believe in this
world.
They believe in the hereafter and they're as
certain of waking up in the beds of
paradise if they stay patient as we are
certain of waking up in our beds in
this world when we go to sleep at
night. May Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, allow us
to be amongst those who willingly forsake their
comfort out of their certainty in Allah's reward
and who achieve Allah's reward.
