So I'm already going to leave rockauto Mr Nahan or Haman, Hyundai Allahu Alameen wa Salatu was Salam ala Rasulillah Muhammad wa ala alihi wa sahbihi. Germain, so Hala as human beings and the fact that we forget the fact that we make commitments and we don't follow up through the with those commitments is something that is very natural with all of us. And sometimes we need a reminder, sometimes we need the ability to hit the reset button and have a fresh new start. So holla when Ramadan comes, we always hear this over and over again, a time to change a time that a time of reflection. after Ramadan, make sure that you keep the spirit of Ramadan alive. But what happens is
that a week, two weeks after Ramadan, we go back to our same old self. Then when the hijab comes around, we hear the same thing, the importance of looking up to Ibrahim alayhis salam and learning from his legacy and a time to change. And then right after the Hijjah you have Muharram and SubhanAllah. If you read the history behind the Muharram and why Muharram is the beginning of the new year in the Islamic calendar. People gathered around honorable photography, Allah Juan and they began to deliberate exactly what will be the very first month of the Islamic calendar. And some suggested various months, some suggested who will some suggested the month of the hijab, the
province of Salem, some suggested even Ramadan, some suggested even the hijab and he said on top that we will settle on what haram because when a person goes for hydrogen, and based on a hadith the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam if they perform Hajj correctly, then they come back as a newborn baby, they are completely sinless. And therefore this is a fresh new start. The fact that Omer immunohistology Allah one has the same idea in mind that this is a fresh new start, let this also be a fresh new start for all of us. Brothers and sisters, reflect on this last year, how many people were here in this community, how many people have passed away from this community and from the all
over the commute all over the communities across the nation and across the world, how the world has changed. And every single week we see how the world is changing how our surroundings are changing this sickness and this virus that has been going on and how it has changed our lives, how it has changed the the functionality of this dunya and how things are changing at the same time you and I cannot forget that we have a higher purpose. And that higher purpose is that we always are connected to Allah subhanho wa Taala we always are coming closer to Allah subhanho wa taala. And many times once again, as I said earlier, in the beginning of the talk that we are always are looking for a
fresh new start today is the first of Muharram and according to some other calculations, tomorrow may be the first time around. But the point is that many of us are looking for a fresh new start, let this be a fresh new start a time that we come close to Allah subhanho wa Taala the past is the past, as he says in English, you can cry over spilled milk no matter how much you regret over the past, no matter how much you want to go and change the past. It is absolutely impossible. Yes, we learn from our past, we learn from our mistakes, but then the future is lies in our hand. What we do in the in the future is all within our control. So that is this is why it is very important for us
that we always do our own has ever taken account of ourselves every single day, we take an account of our bank account, we take an account of our retirement funds, we are looking towards the future, we are looking at our surrounding and how the world is changing. And we're worried about our financial well being into the future. Can I have a startup? Can I do this? Can I do that? All in all in the mindset of money all under the idea that how can I make more but how many of us have actually sat down on a daily basis? If not daily, weekly basis, if not weekly, monthly basis and just ask ourselves, where am I in terms of my Deen? This is why Allah subhanho wa Taala he says in the Quran,
and I just recited so in South Asia. Yeah, uh, Johan Nadine Amanu. This is Allah talking to us. You know, when a king wants to address a certain group of people, he calls them by a certain name. When Allah subhanho wa Taala wants to address us he says yeah, you Hallerin Amanu when Allah says yeah, you will live in an avenue that is our time that we need to give our full attention to Allah subhanho wa Taala he says it Allah be cautious of Allah subhanho wa Taala ANA will turn for national market and lead every single human that every single soul reflect on what they're doing for the future. So this is why Allah subhanho wa Taala reminds us and then he says in the next ayah wala
Taku do not become my
Those are Levine and Ursula for unser home and Fusa. Home that those who forgot about Allah subhanho wa taala. If we forget about our children, our children will suffer. If I forget about my house, my house will suffer. If I forget about my finances, my finances will suffer. If I forget about Allah, Allah does not suffer. Allah does not it does not affect Allah at all. But Allah is saying that if you forget about Allah, then we will eventually as a result, we will forget about ourselves, we will become like the Haiwan we become like animals, and there is no purpose of life after that. And this is why Subhan Allah in that same passage, what does Allah say? That if that is your state, then it
becomes then in that state, your heart becomes so hard, your heart becomes even harder than a mountain. And this is why Allah says low and Xena has an Khurana Allah jevelin La Atia hoo ha she saw the eye. If this Quran was revealed on a mountain, you will see the mountain humbling itself but yet the heart we read the Quran, we reflect upon the Quran, yet the Quran doesn't yet our heart does not submit to Allah subhanho wa taala. So the point is brothers and sisters, let us be a moment of reflection for all of us. Let us be every single day if we cannot, at least on a weekly basis, take some time out, disconnect yourself from everything around you. And ask yourself where am I going in
my life? This is why Subhanallah you don't want people come and they ask that what kind of a wife should I have? This is such an such girl in the community. I want to get married to her such as such, brother, I want to get married to her. You know, what's the first advice I give to everyone? First you need to study yourself. First you need to reflect on your own self who are you as a human being? Who are we as a human being? What flaws do I have? What strengths do I have? If I have strengths I maintain that and whatever flaws I have, I have to work upon that. This is called Maha Sabha. This is where we are talking about self improvement. And as they say even when it talks when
you talk about Nia in nama Amelie, when you were in no Malika Lima in Manoa, you get what you intend for, you know, subhanAllah, even if you read books on productivity, and how to be efficient in life, and how to be effective in life, the one the very first things that you were always taught is that you begin with the end in mind. You begin with the end in mind, as anyone who has written books on this subject, begin with the end in mind, what's the end? The end is eventually Jana, that is where we all want to be, but how do we get there, we need to reflect on ourselves. And that is when we will learn our flaws. And then we will make a plan to overcome those faults. So let us be a moment
of reflection, a moment of coming back to Allah Allah subhanho wa taala. Once again, Islamically there is no dua there is no you know, there is no armor that is done at the beginning of Muharram. But we live in a culture that we're looking, you know, we talk about new year resolutions, this is the Islamic New Year. So let us be a moment of that. Now, one more thing I do want to mention is that when it comes to these kinds of events in our Islamic calendar, I really strongly urge everyone to sit down with your kids, and remind them of this, we need to teach our children about our Islamic lunar calendar. This is the day when the battle of Buddha took place. This is the day that the
battle took place. This is the day where perhaps, of course, there's always going to be some stuff. This is the day perhaps Israel in Mirage took place. This is the day where the person he was born. These are events. I'm not saying making, you know, we're not talking about you know, having a big event and so forth. I'm not talking about that right now. I'm simply saying that sit down with your children and teach them and tell them about this and tell them that even Muharram what happened in Muharram this whole history of Karbala and so forth. If anything, we learned how to stand in front of injustice, how to face injustice, and how to stand against injustice. This is what we learned
from that story, if anything else, so this is why we need to teach our children about the Islamic lunar calendar, do not think that it's a bit odd and so forth. No, this is completely wrong. Sit down and teach them this is something very important. And lastly I will say is that when we talk about making improvements when we talk about you know becoming better. One of the very first places I mentioned is the Quran. And in regards to that Inshallah, I want to remind everyone that starting September 1 Inshallah, September 1, we are starting a Quran program only only for adults. Many of the adults have come forward and they have said, we have so many programs for the sisters in the
morning hours. We have so many programs for the children in the evening hours, where is the adults? Where can we learn Quran? So inshallah starting September 1, we're going to have a Quran program between Muslim southern Muslim in Southeast Asia. For that we do need everyone to register whoever chooses to learn Inshallah, we'll go through the basics of Tajweed Inshallah, we will go through the corridor, and then we will eventually journey into the Quran.
