I bear witness that there is none worthy
of worship except Allah.
Come to success.
Come
to success.
Allah is the Greatest.
Allah
is
the Greatest.
There is none worthy of worship except Allah.
Brothers and sisters, imagine if someone gave you
a guarantee.
If you do this, I guarantee you'll never
lose your job.
If you do this, I guarantee you'll keep
on making money.
If you do this, I guarantee you'll never
have health problems.
Imagine if someone gave us a guarantee.
Wallahi, we will be all ears.
We will say that, tell me whatever it
is that I need to do, and I
will do it.
Rasulullah ﷺ is the most truthful person who
has ever stepped foot on the face of
this earth.
Rasulullah ﷺ, when he says something, there is
no doubt that it is the absolute truth.
In fact, even non-Muslims, in the time
of the Prophet ﷺ, they have so much
yaqeen and certainty in the words of the
Prophet ﷺ.
How much certainty should you and I, we
would have and we should have in the
words of the Prophet ﷺ.
Brothers and sisters, today inshaAllah in this khutbah,
I wanna share with you a very beautiful
hadith of the Prophet ﷺ that is found
in Musnad Ahmad.
But this is not like any other hadith.
This is a hadith where the Prophet ﷺ
is guaranteeing us.
He is giving us a guarantee that you
will be given Jannah if we do four
things.
If we can maintain four things, the Prophet
ﷺ is guaranteeing us that we will go
into Jannah.
Now, when you hear a hadith like this,
let's try to be all ears, let's try
to understand what this hadith is.
First of all is, brothers and sisters, we
need to understand, before I get into this
hadith, we need to understand that one of
the most important aspects of our deen is
self-control and discipline.
If you look at every single thing that
Allah has told us to do in the
Qur'an, every single prophetic teaching that we
find in the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ,
the only person who can abide by those
teachings and those instructions is a person who
has self-discipline and who has self-control.
So keeping this in mind, this hadith also
requires discipline, it requires self-control.
And we remind ourselves that everything that we
do, everything that we say, Allah subhanahu wa
ta'ala He says,
Allah says
in the Qur'an that remember the time
that when the wrongdoers will be brought forth
before Allah, and their book of deeds will
be displayed before them, and they will see
that the book of deeds has not left
out.
It has not left out
the smallest details.
Neither the greatest details.
But it has been documented in
this book.
So that is why brothers and sisters, we
need to be always mindful that today we
do things and think that I've gotten away.
Remind ourselves that Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
is constantly watching us.
The very first thing that the Prophet ﷺ,
he tells us in order for us to
receive Jannah, is to safeguard the tongue.
Rasulullah ﷺ, he says in a hadith,
And I want
us to understand this hadith.
The Prophet ﷺ is saying, whoever believes in
Allah and whoever believes in the last day.
Meaning that if we truly believe in Allah,
and we truly believe in the last day,
then it is incumbent upon us that we
do the third thing.
And what is the third thing the Prophet
ﷺ he told us in the hadith?
This should
be a principle of our life.
Either say something that is good, something that
is beneficial, something that will bring hearts together,
something that will bring peace to a situation,
or if you cannot do that, if we
cannot do that, the Prophet ﷺ tells us,
Stay quiet.
Because wallahi everything that comes out of our
tongue, as Allah says in the Qur'an,
Allah says in the Qur'an, not does
a single word is uttered from our mouth,
but there is a watcher prepared to record
it.
Mean that every single thing that comes out
of our mouth, brothers and sisters, keep this
in mind, every single thing is recorded.
There is never a situation that something will
come out of our mouth.
Even if we're sitting between two people, even
if I'm sitting with few people, and I'm
sitting over there, and we think that no
one has ever heard this conversation, and how
often do we tell each other, listen, I'm
telling you something, make sure no one else
knows about it.
But we have to remind ourselves, that Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala is watching, and there
is an angel that is documenting all this.
And this is why in the tafsir of
this ayah, Imam al-Qurtubi
says, that there is an angel that writes
down every single word uttered.
And at the end of the day, what
it does is that it will remove anything
that does not have any rewards or consequences.
Mean that if a person said for example,
I'm going to sit over here, neither there
is a reward to that statement, neither there
is a consequence to that statement.
So the angels, they will remove anything that
does not fall in these two categories.
But everything else is recorded and it is
kept.
That is why brothers and sisters, we find
the Sahaba رضي الله عنهم, we find Rasulullah
صلى الله عليه وسلم, how careful they were
about every single word that was uttered.
Even we find from my Salaf as-Saleheen,
our pious predecessors, that they would sometimes record
everything, they would write down everything, they would
say throughout the day.
And then later at the end of the
day, they would sit down and review everything
they have said.
And they would try to take a stock
of themselves.
Did I say this?
If I said this, was there any benefit
to this or not?
Today many of us are wallahi a loose
cannon.
We say whatever we want to say, without
any kind of accountability.
Brothers and sisters, we need to remind ourselves,
that when we lie, there is going to
be accountability for that.
When we commit ghibah, there is accountability for
this.
When we slander anyone else in the community,
in our families, there is accountability for this.
When we do idle talk, when Allah
Stay away from anything that has no benefit
in this dunya and the akhirah.
Also we find that how many times in
our families, especially in our families, wallahi I
get calls after calls, emails after emails, of
the verbal abuse that takes place within our
families.
The profanity that is used against each other.
How husband and wife, they have no respect
for each other.
How can you ever think that your kids
will learn respect, if a husband and wife
cannot even respect each other verbally.
Profanity in the house.
Disrespecting each other in the house.
And now today, it has gone even further
ahead.
We find people threatening each other.
There's a time where husbands always threatening their
wives.
If you do this, I'll give you a
divorce.
If you do this, I'll give you a
divorce.
First of all to those husbands, where is
this in the seerah of the Prophet ﷺ?
Did the Prophet ﷺ ever threaten any of
his wives, that if you don't do this,
I'll give you a divorce.
And then today we have even women threatening
their husbands.
If you don't do this, I'll call the
police.
I'll make up stories.
If you do this, I'll go into court.
I'll take the kids.
I'll take everything that you have.
To the sisters, where is this?
Do we learn this from the wives and
our mothers, the ummahatul umineen?
The answer is no.
So brothers and sisters, many of us, we
are engaged in this misuse of our tongue,
and we have to constantly remind ourselves, let's
use our tongue in better ways.
As there are many ulama who say, that
That this tongue is small compared to every
other part of the body.
But the sins that are committed by this
are enormous.
Rather than misusing this tongue, let's use it
the correct way.
Let's remember Allah ﷻ, in the morning, in
the evening, let's make the dhikr of Allah
ﷻ.
One of the greatest adhkar, that is beloved
to Allah ﷻ.
We find the hadith of Abu
That two words are
very beloved to Allah ﷻ.
Let's use
our tongue to do this.
Let's use our tongue to send our peace
and blessings upon Rasulullah ﷺ.
How often do we say,
How often are we
seeking the repentance and seeking the forgiveness of
Allah ﷻ.
So brothers and sisters, this is how we
should be using our tongue, and we should
not be using our tongue to hurt anyone
or to say anything that can cause any
pain to anyone in any capacity.
The second thing, the Prophet ﷺ, he is
asking us to safeguard is our chastity.
Allah ﷻ in the Qur'an He says,
Allah talks about the
importance of protecting our chastity.
And not only that, but in Surah Al
-Mu'minoon, Allah ﷻ He guarantees not only Jannah
to this kind of people, but He's guaranteeing
them Jannatul Firdaus.
And another Qur'anic
verse Allah ﷻ He says, in order for
us to protect our chastity, Allah ﷻ instruct
And this is not an instruction only
to the men, but it is to the
women also.
So Allah ﷻ is telling us to lower
our gaze.
And why did Allah ﷻ say to lower
our gaze?
Because usually that is the very first step
when a person is heading towards zina, when
a person is heading towards that sin.
So the very first thing that Allah ﷻ
is telling us is to lower our gaze.
Brothers and sisters, I don't have too much
time to go into the subject matter, but
subhanAllah today, if we look at the situation
that we are living in, Wallahi, we live
in such an immodest, such an immodest society
as we refer to in Urdu as a
بَحَيَٓى society, a society that lacks modesty, a
society that does not understand what is حَيَٓى,
the way we see men dressing, the way
we see women dressing.
And once again I said this in many
of my khutbahs, it's not only about dressing
that a person is considered as immodest, how
we use our tongue, a person can be
modest or immodest.
But the point is brothers and sisters, even
when it comes to seeing things, there is
a level of modesty, and there is a
level of immodesty.
People who protect their eyes, they are modest.
People who do not protect their eyes, they
see the haram, they are considered as immodest.
And today subhanAllah, we live in such a
society, where accessing haram has become so easy.
It has become so easy.
And it is not just only on the
computer, it is sitting on our phones today.
A click here and there can take you
to places where wallahi it displeases Allah SWT.
Brothers and sisters, the amount of *, let's
be honest about the situation.
If we look at the situation of how
many youth, how many adults are watching *,
wallahi the numbers are staggering.
Even if you look at the world, if
you look at the entire world as a
collective unit, if you look at the top
10 countries, wallahi it is so sad.
When you do even the simple research, out
of the top 10 countries that watches the
most amount of *, the top 7 are
Muslim countries.
The top 7 are Muslim countries.
Brothers and sisters, we need to remind ourselves
that when we see something haram, when we
see something haram, shaitan, that's the very first
step of shaitan, shaitan will misguide us even
furthermore.
And if you look at this addiction, you
talk to psychologist, you talk to people who
are in the mental health field, they will
tell you the ill effects of *, and
what this does to a person, how does
it affect a person psychologically, how does it
affect a person physically.
Brothers and sisters, this is part of protecting
our chastity.
Staying away from all of these things, they
are hard, it is not easy.
Today, subhanAllah, our youth are so engaged in
this.
So that is why brothers and sisters, it
is important that we stay away from this.
Now I've received calls, and people ask me,
that what can I do to stay away
from this haram.
Let me tell you exactly what you can
do.
Two things you can do right off the
bat.
Number one is, always be around people.
Do not ever be isolated.
Because usually this sin is committed, when people
are isolated.
Number two is, whenever anything that is considered
as a trigger, if social media is a
trigger for you to commit haram, it is
not only that, even if it's not just
even a picture or a video, even engaging
with other people who do this kind of
stuff, is part of this part of the
hadith.
This is part of the sin also.
So that is why, do not do anything
that can trigger that sin.
If there are friends that can trigger that
sin within you, you stay away from them.
If it is a situation that can trigger
you, you stay away from that.
If it is isolation that can trigger you,
you stay away from that.
Anything that can trigger you, that can compel
you to commit that sin, you stay away
from that kind of situation.
I ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
protect us in our young generation.
And by the way, once again, this is
gonna be a test for people to come.
If this was a test even for Yusuf
a.s, Yusuf a.s is being seduced.
But what did he say?
He said, معاذ الله.
And he ran away from that sin.
And remember to my young brothers and sisters,
and even to our adults who are engaged
in this, when you want to leave the
situation, when you want to leave the haram,
and you take active steps in staying away
from the haram, Allah will open the doors
for you.
Just like Yusuf a.s, he was running
towards the doors, and the doors were opening
up by themselves.
Yusuf a.s made his effort.
He did what he had to do.
The rest he put in the hands of
Allah.
And we see from the Qur'an how
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala helped him.
So whenever a situation like this comes up,
say this words to yourself, معاذ الله.
Just like Yusuf a.s, he said the
word معاذ الله.
And that was the very first step that
he took in order to stay away from
that sin.
We say the same thing to ourselves.
The third thing the Prophet a.s is
asking us to do is to safeguard our
hands.
Meaning that the Prophet a.s is telling
us, do not do anything with your hands
that is considered as disobedient in the eyes
of Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala.
As Allah says in the Qur'an, يوم
Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala says that a
time will come on the day of judgment
where a person's tongue, a person's hands, and
a person's feet will testify against a person
on the day of judgment.
Brothers and sisters, how many times we do
things with our hands.
Sometimes we might be physically abusive towards someone.
Sometimes we might push someone.
Sometimes we'll do something to someone.
Brothers and sisters, remind ourselves, these are not
things that we learn from the sunnah and
the seerah of Rasulallah s.a.w. If
anything, try to use the hands to do
good things.
Write something that is good, that can be
beneficial to other people.
If you sit on social media, share a
hadith.
You use your hands to share a hadith.
Share a hadith that can be beneficial towards
others.
On the other hand, there are people who
get on to social media and all they
do is, wallahi, they cause fitna in the
society.
They cause fitna in the community.
Wallahi, those people, they'll be questioned by Allah
subhanahu wa ta'ala on the day of
judgment.
Another way to use your hands in a
good way is to go help someone else
out, to give sadaqah.
There are so many ways that we can
please Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala with the
proper usage of our hands.
So that is why, brothers and sisters, we
find even in the story of Abu Bakr
radiyallahu anh, how many slaves did he free?
How did he do that?
With the use of his hands.
He had money, he took out that money,
and he gave that money to free these
people.
So we find the sahaba radiyallahu anhum staying
away from the misuse of their hands.
The fourth thing, and once again I have
to rush to this because of the khutbah,
the time of the khutbah.
But the fourth thing the Prophet ﷺ, he's
asking us to do, is to safeguard from
the misuse of our feet.
That means that number one, as Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala, He says in the Qur
'an, He says, وَلَا تَمْشِي فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا
You know, there are people who walk the
faces of earth, but they are filled with
so much arrogance, that they feel like they
are above everyone else.
They think that they are superior than everyone
else.
And as we all know, that what is
the sign of takabbur?
Is to suppress the
truth, and to think that you are superior,
and everyone else is inferior.
So in that situation Allah subhanahu wa ta
'ala is telling us, even when you walk
the earth, be humble.
When Allah says in the Qur'an, وَعِبَادُ
You see
these people, they walk the earth, but wallahi
they are so humble, they are so down
to earth.
And this is a reminder for you and
I, brothers and sisters, that when a person
has takabbur in their heart, if they have
even an iota amount of takabbur in their
heart, they will not smell the fragrance of
Jannah.
You know, one is to go outside of
a store, and sit there and smell.
You know, you sit outside a restaurant, you
can smell something, but you cannot go inside.
But when the hadith says, you cannot even
smell the fragrance of Jannah.
That means that a person on the day
of judgment, a person who has an iota
amount of takabbur in their heart, they think
they are better than someone else, they'll be
so far from Jannah, they will not be
able to smell the fragrance of Jannah.
May Allah Subhan protect us.
Brothers and sisters, Allah tells us, do not
walk like this way.
Do not walk in this manner.
Do not show that you are filled with
takabbur.
And not only that, but we learn also
from the hadith of going to the right
places.
Going to the right places, the places that
remind you of Allah and His Prophet ﷺ.
Places that remind you of the akhirah.
Though it may be even to our friends
gathering, when friends are coming together, there's no
problem.
But you're going to those kind of places
that you're gonna be talking about something that
is good.
Even if you say to someone, let's go
to the coffee shop, let's talk about something
that is beneficial, let's talk about something that
we can help the Muslim community.
Even in that, some ulama say that there
is reward in that.
Why?
Because you are walking on your feet to
do something that is good, to do something
that is beneficial to the Muslim community.
Even in that there is reward.
But if we walk to a place where
there will be ghibah.
We walk to a place where we know
that haram is going to be committed.
We know we're going to a place where
I know that I'm gonna be asked to
do things that are not in the Qur
'an, the sunnah of Rasulullah ﷺ.
Then in that kind of place, from those
kind of places, we need to stay away
from.
So this is why brothers and sisters, these
are four things that the Prophet ﷺ, he
is asking us to do.
And in return, the Prophet ﷺ, he's guaranteeing
that person a place in Jannah.
Once again, the Prophet ﷺ says, he said
four things.
Safeguarding his tongue, safeguarding his chastity, safeguarding his
hands, and safeguarding his feet.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us
from amongst those who will apply this hadith.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala make us
from amongst those who will be in Jannah
for those al-'ala with the Prophet ﷺ.
The
last thing I would just want to say
in this khutbah, not related to this hadith,
but related to the situation that now that
many of our kids, of course, they all
are off for the next two weeks due
to winter break.
I just want to remind the parents that
making sure that we try to establish a
schedule, a plan for our kids.
Do not go into this winter holiday that,
okay, we'll just take one day at a
time.
But create a plan, create a structured plan
for your kids.
Do not let your kids sit on the
phone brothers and sisters.
Wallahi, the phone is one of those kind
of things that if we don't have self
-discipline, if we don't have no self-control,
wallahi, the phone will cause us to do
haram things.
That is why, or even if it's not
causing us to do haram things, it can
clearly cause us to waste time, which is
a very important commodity in all of our
lives, regardless of age.
So that is why, brothers and sisters, we
try to create a structured plan for our
kids, making sure that they go to sleep
at a certain time.
And not only that, but this is a
very, very good time.
It's because now, I mean, we understand that
Salatul Fajr is later.
Salatul Fajr is at 6.30. Many of
us can make it for Salatul Fajr.
But let's try to make it a point
that in these next two weeks, inshaAllah, we
try to bring our kids for Salatul Fajr.
Try to go to sleep early ourselves.
But we wake up early.
We try to wake up by around 6
o'clock.
We wake up our kids.
We prepare them from the night before that
tomorrow morning, we're gonna go for Salatul Fajr.
We prepare them mentally, and then we get
them to sleep.
Even if they go past, you know, their
bedtime usually, during the school days, no problem.
As a parent, that's your choice.
And what goes on in your family, that's
your choice.
But the point is, we prepare them from
the night before that tomorrow morning, we have
to go for Salatul Fajr.
This is a really good time to build
up this habit within our kids to bring
them for Salatul Fajr, inshaAllah.
I ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala to
grant all of us tawfiq, inshaAllah.

Is brother Muhammad Shibli here?
Is the father here?
Brother Muhammad Shibli, if you're here, please come
to the front inshallah.
Also, this is a family from the Tyler
community.
If the imam of the Tyler community is
here, please come forward too.
Brother Muhammad Shibli, if you're here, please come
to the front.
Or just raise your hand so I know
that you're coming.
If you're there in the back, if you
can come please forward.
Brother Muhammad Shibli, once again, are you in
the building?
Please come forward.
Even if you're in the back, just raise
your hand so I know that you're here.
Okay, he's here.
Please give the brother some space to come
inshallah.
As-salamu alaykum wa rahmatullah.
Of course, speaking from an emotional perspective, of
course, whenever we see any janazah, it is
of course heartbreaking.
But it's even more heartbreaking when you see
the janazah of a three-day-old child.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala give the
family sabra jameel.
May Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala grant them
and replace this loss with something that is
better inshallah.
And whenever we find ourselves in a situation
where we have lost something, there's a dua
that we learn from the Prophet ﷺ, اللهم
It's a dua that we can always recite,
which means that ya Allah, help me alleviate
this misery and this challenge from me and
replace it with something that is better.
So we ask Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala
for Muhammad Shibli and his family.
This is their first child, but Allah subhanahu
wa ta'ala had other plans.
And subhanAllah, just looking at the determination of
their brother, I just met him right now,
he said alhamdulillah.
So subhanAllah, this is the nature and the
demeanor of a believer that no matter what
situation comes upon us, a believer always says
alhamdulillah.
So this is why, this is a reminder
for all of us inshaAllah.
When it comes to the child and the
salatul janazah of a child, there are four
takbirat.
After the first takbir, we will recite thana
or surah al-fatiha.
After the second takbir, we will send our
peace and blessings upon Rasulullah ﷺ.
After the third takbir, there is no maghfira
rahma.
All that you can make dua is to
make him.
There's a dua that we learn,
Ya Allah, make him a means
of their salvation.
And not only that, but make him a
means that he can be a shafi' mean
that he will intercede for his parents on
the day of judgment.
And not only that, but مشفعا mean that
his intercession for his parents will be accepted
on the day of judgment inshaAllah.
And also you can make dua that Allah
ﷻ replace it for the parents, and do
something that is better inshaAllah.
